GYPSIES REMEMBER BASIL...Part 5

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Moon, I have some Maroon Caster Beans that grow in your zone down there. Interested?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

our chili has always been served with rice and a spread of sour cream, chopped onions, jalapenos, and othe rpeppers and a variety of cheeses

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

venice you don't like the castor beans? they're awesome

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Zones 9-11.

Keaau, HI

Castor Bean is a poisonous weed!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

yes but those of us who live in the Midwest grow them around our pools during summer for a more tropical feel...the dog outside does not eat plants. and my children are at the age that if they eat it then they deserve to get sick.

(Zone 5b)

lol Trina....you never know what teenage boys will do!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Venice, as much as I love the look of the plant, I have too many animals that play in the yard, and there is just something about Castor Beans that entice them. Plus, the only place I could plant them is too close to the neighbor's and they have small grandchildren that pick the flowers from those beds. Gonna have to pass, but I do appreciate the offer. Thanks.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Ok, now what do I do with these seeds if they are poisonous!

Found this:

Have you heard they're debating making it illegal to grow brugs and morning glories because of their hallucinogenic properties?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

see my yard is completely fenced in no danger of stray grandbabies

LOL

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

OMG I Stupid levels rising again

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

you can throw coleus in that illegal mix, then. we used to say "please don't eat the purple colues" back in the day.

No good Italian puts actual ground meat in anything! when I make sauce, I put country style ribs in it, but only for the flavor. And the meatballs go in, but not ground up. Eww!

And meat in lasagna is sacrilegious! (I'm a Battalgia)

And chili over rice actually sounds really good! I'll try that next time. Gotta go back downstairs, gotta eat those peanut butter cookies. Trina, I'll save you some.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

ooooh peanut butter cookies...now Julie made me twitterpated!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Company just pulled into driveway...gotta go. Have a great evening everyone.

Good Night, Moon

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Night Moon!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

did aliens suddenly zap you all silent?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Having dinner.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

oh so the monster known as hungry got everybody......ok good to know

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

well his pissy about something so I'm getting off here

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kitty caught another mouse! She finds them in cold weather. In the spring she finds little bunnies and birds. Summer is rather boring for her.

(Zone 5b)

kitty is having dinner, too huh Venice?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

No, Kitty just plays with them until they don't move any more.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

OK I can't help it if I was raised on plain food. Rabbit, squirrel, pheasant, chicken, hamburger and catfish.

Remind me not to invite you guys over for chili or spaghetti because it has lots of ground up hamburger in it.

Hello everyone and wishing all a good night.

jjsgramma, I would enjoy your cooking;-)

I will try and catch you all on the next Gypsy thread.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Good Morning all. Don't know why I'm up. My body must have thought it was Monday.

JJ, hope you didn't take offense to my comment, I'm sure you're a wonderful cook, I was just commenting on my upbringing as an Italian. Spumoni for all!

Venice, you can send Kitty here in the summer. I live a block away from a big park. Bunnies are here 24-7-365. They are so bad the village is trying to figure out what to do with them.

(Zone 5b)

Morning! My body doesn't know the difference between Sunday & Monday either Smiley!
I like meat in my chili, JJ!

(Zone 5b)

I'm starving again...i'm always hungry....you guys should just oink at me from now on.....can't wait for the hubby, gotta eat now......

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I love food. All kinds of food. ♫ food.. food.. food ♫

did anyone check out the snack mustard recipe? it's in my future.

(Zone 5b)

I have stayed clear of the recipe forum so far....I just ate eggs & toast, then a 20g protein power bar.....steak, that's what I need...

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I like to cook *almost* as much as I like to garden. Problem is, I have a meat & potatoes family. Not too adventurous in that department.

But the snack mustard... I'm going to make it for the pretzel & mustard freaks I know. DD has some friends that kill my mustard jar every time they come over. I like to do something little for her core group at Christmas.

(Zone 5b)

I like to cook & bake MORE than I like to garden.....and i'm for sure better at it....comes natural to me, gardening is a whole other animal lol

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Well, me too, but with a family who's not adventurous it's not easy. DD won't eat anything that had a face (until that chicken craving gets to be too much...) so I started getting Vegetarian Times and the recipes look so-o good! But she goes 'ick' and I haven't made a one of them.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I had to laugh Smiley....The son of one of my friends decided to become a vegetarian. He railed at every meal about their horrible carnivorous habits and became quite a pain about it. His mom decided to honor his commitment and started making tons of vegetarian dishes, forcing the entire family to eat mostly vegetarian dishes. That went on for about a month, until one day she stopped in at a local BBQ shop to pick up a treat for the meat eaters......imagine her surprise to see him at a table with a couple friends elbow deep in the Meat Lovers special, BBQ sauce all over his hands and face...LOL The Tofu stopped there.

(Zone 5b)

funny Moon! Smiley I remember you saying that about your daughter...there was an article somewhere about plants having feelings, don't let her see that! lol I'm lucky only one picky eater (well not counting me *grin*)

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

That is funny, Moon. You should see her devour chicken when she succumbs to the craving.

No way, no how, will she ever know about that article Lynnie! I read that too.

She finally started taking multi vitamins and fruit & veggie complex at the advise of our family physician ~ even though I've been saying that forever. Doesn't matter though, at least she takes them now.

I feel creative - going to play with something. Maybe sculpey, maybe beads. Maybe both!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Oh I see now that I finally get waded through my dmail everyone's leaving...I am not a cook...I don't like to cook....now baking on the other hand I like to do...but I dn't cook here and I will never bake for these people again, so I will just play with plants and be satisfied with that

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

You ladies have a lovely day...going to wade into the Kid's room today....if ya don't hear from me in a couple days, send in a search party....lol

Good she takes the vitamins. Does she eat fish? I know they have faces, but so do chickens....grin

Show us what you make today, Smiley... I have no artistic skills at all....but I like to play...grin

Later, Moon

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

lol moon!

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Morning Everyone,

No offense taken Smiley. Just making a statement on how I fix mine and why I don't eat clams,or oysters and other things. I only started eating sour cream about 4 yrs ago.

My DH doesn't eat sauce on his spaghetti only meat. Talk about yuck!

Lynnie I mailed that out on Friday.

Moon good luck in that room.

Sun is shinig and it is really nice out so I am headed outside for poop scooper detail among other things.

Hope everyone enjoys the day.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

hi and bye JJ
