GYPSIES MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND

Jesup, GA

Hi Smiley, not that skinny. Ya must have been focusing on my pretty smile. I can eat like a horse. Of course ya wouldn't know that by my teeth. Grin.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hey Folks....quick Hello to all. Dixie I think the guy down the road sees the same dentist as you....grin

You may have to crowd them a bit for winter Trina. You'll have lots of pots once you do your spring planting, and extra soil to boot. It will not hurt to have more than one cutting in a pot.

Great buys Venice. Here is a link for you. http://www.plantzafrica.com/plantnop/portulacarafra.htm

Smiley I measure by eye also...grin. Thanks for the ingredients.

Hey Dave...no, not at my house..Moreton Bay QLD Au. They are every where you look ...them and the Ibis....grin

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Dave how much coconut coir does she need? I have some Venice, you definately don't need a whole brick

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, where did you get it and how much does it cost?

One thing I was reading said it was best to mix the potting stuff.

Jesup, GA

Trina I'll send you the name of my dentist. Obviously he does good work. Grin.

Jesup, GA

LOL Moon.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

LOL Dixie

Venice I got mine from a mailorder catalog called Charlie's Greenhouse Supply...I bought 15 bricks of it...If I remember correctly, it was $10 a brick but it goes a LOOOOOONNNGGG way.....I am about to repot several of the plants I used it in and it should be real good for the bromelaid...I got my mix wrong so some of them didn't like it...a little too dry for them...its mixed a little heavy with the coconut coir

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

on a serious note I do need to find an oral surgeon who will take Medicare or Medicare part D or whatever...but he has to be able to knock me out to do it Because I had a serious reaction to the other stuff last time...(root canal mouth wouldn't stay numb so they hed to keep giving me more, and then I had to go to work, I'm sure I looked hysterical trying to build flasher assembly's for big trucks I could barely stand up

Jesup, GA

Trina here's the name of my dentist........Dr.Gengivitis DDSBad Breath Blvd. Jesup,Ga. He will fix ya right up.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Oh Goddess Moon...my questionable thing...I sent him back an email but have not received a response

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Dixie you're a riot I love it!

Jesup, GA

Hope ya find a good dentist Trina. That sounds like it was veeeery painful.

Keaau, HI

It is okay to have wet medium around the Bromeliad, most species love lots of water. Keep the vase of the Bromeliad filled with water, don't dump it out. Water the plant when it looks like the water in the vase is disappearing.

Mynah Birds are all over Hawai'i too. Here they will make nests in your roof, if you let them!

Jesup, GA

I forgot I have clothes in the dryer. Better get some more stuff done before I lose the mood. Will catch up with yall a little later.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave, should I cut off that hard stem where that the bloom was attached?

Keaau, HI

The coconut coir can be mixed with lava rocks such as granite to extend the coconut coir. Don't use limestone.

Hey Dixie, looks like you have Hawaiian Taro behind your photo, Da Teeth! Could you show us more?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

This is too cool...this bridge is phenomenal...

That was Cool Moon!!!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave, you mean I have to just watch this big plant die??? It is 21" across and 21" tall.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

that is the word for it, Moon.

One of the guys here at work calls me The Treehugger... I wear my special t-shirt for him sometimes

(now THAT didn't come out the way it was supposed to, LOL)

It says "hug a tree" on it.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

thats a good sized plant!!!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Smiley My kids got me one that says " that's right I'm a gun-toteing-tree-huggin'-dirt-worshipper So what are you gonna do about it"

Keaau, HI

You don't have to watch the thing die Carol. When it no longer looks nice, place it in an out of the way place where you can still care for it. Eventually you will see the new plants coming up from the base of the old plant.
Patience is essential in growing Bromeliads.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I wonder How many coleus cuttings I can put in one pot

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

There aren't many roots on that plant!

Jesup, GA

I'm in and out. Do a little here do a little there. Yeah,Dave it is Hawaiian Taro. I know parts os it are edible. I just dont know what parts. I just like to look at them I think they are pretty plants. They look bad now. But,were pretty back in the summer. I think I have some pictures of them then. I'll try to send them a little later.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I want that T Shirt, Trina!

Moon, Bill has the recipe again..... for love.........

oops, wrong song.

Moon, Bill has the recipe for the insecticidal soap. Will post later. It's a Ken Brown recipe.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, I know that plant is big! It droops over the edge of a table top. I know where I can put it. I have a tiny cabinet in the bedroom. I will have to bring it into the living room.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I wonder if I could sneak to Dixies house and steal her elephant ears! LOL

Hey I know it's cause my BF believes in this 2012 so much I'm the noah of the plant world, that explains why I have so many...LOL

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, when does the 2012 movie come out. I don't believe in that disaster to the earth but I think it will sure be a good action movie!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

OOps Smiley....couple curves there....lol

I thought it was just too neat for words.....Trina...walking across it is a boot

My mantra is "Embrace the Earth Before She Engulfs You....." And my favorite bumper sticker

"Don't worry about saving the planet, save yourself. The planet will save itself."

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

now that I believe in....I believe all the strange weather, and earthquakes is the Earth saying ok that's it I've had enough, time for a good cleansing...some of us may survive her "Bath" some of us may not, but really you can't predict when, if, or how, the Earth is her own being and she does what she wants when she wants, we are only here by her good grace

Keaau, HI

Here is Aechmea fasciata beginning to get old. At the base of the plant, you can see a new sucker (pink in color) beginning to grow.
As the old plant begins to look bad, the new ones will be starting to look good!

Mine have great big long droopy leaves! Some droop like 8" past a table top!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Dave and his pictures Now I'm all twitterpated again!

Keaau, HI

The End of the World prophesies are always fun!

In 2000, the world was supposed to go into chaos, especially electronically.

Before that was Syzygy (lining up the the planets) in which the World was supposed to fall apart.

I'm sure 2012 will pass insignificantly as well.

It certainly would be smart for us to stop polluting the Planet, if we want good living conditions for our species to continue.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Even the Mayans are disgusted with all the 2012 BS....

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

it is a little much..all of a sudden the history channel is full of it...get this my friend that died, her Hubby is selling thier place in Hawaii asked if I wanted it (very good price and yes I can afford it) He freaked out cause of this 2012 crap saying it wouldn't be there anyway...too bad for him I have until monday to decide if I want it or not

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)
