how can you be sick of coleus??? I just went outside and took more cuttings from the ones that was plant in front of the house, even though we have them in pots, I just hate to see them die going down in the 30's tonight
GYPSIES MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND
We-e-el Miss Trina, y'all can send some of them roses my-y wa-a-ay...
dog keeps "nosing" me in the leg. time for some play or he'll drive me nuts all night.
see you all later!
Hi stplong! That is the sad thing about winter for sure ,giving up those pretty annuals.
Bye Smiley, think everyone is having supper. I just reallized I haven't eaten anything but an apple since breakfast. Tummy is saying FEED ME lol
ok roses to smiley you asked for it!
Donna Nothing personal, by next fall I'll be out there taking cuttings like it's nobody's business or trying to dig up the whole plant! I just got too many things going on at one time! You know those old fashioned spinning tops, how they go completely out of control right before they stop, I feel like that right now, you know how it is with all those hibiscus and coleus...now where can I stuff one more plant...LOL But I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and no it is not an oncoming train! LOL
it's just with all the roses and coleus and Allan just keeps bringing me more and more and more of Judy's plants. I have maybe 2' left of 24' of running counter space left in my kitchen. but I got some more stuff to move around tomorrow and then it will be ok...Hopefully he does get the green house done very soon, and Trudy (Judy's sister) will be over tomorrow to take some of these plants, she just lives up the street but she had to go to the Hawaii property to take inventory, Allan just couldn't face going back.
Trudy has a greenhouse to but hasn't used it in a long time (health) said I could take over the whole thing if I need to so Yeah! She keeps telling me I should open a nursery too
uhg what's the other name for sensitive plant or Jericho flower...stupid memory!
Thats funny Smiley, just realized you were talking about soap for plants, better not put that under my arm pits LOL Night All
LOL Night Flowers!
Wow stplong those are beautiful, don't blame you for wanting to save them. Looks like you are gonna need a greenhouse too. Your asking me Trina? rofl
anyone so I can find the stupid plant files page on it cause I'm not intelligent enough to write stuff down!...its the one that closes and curls up into a ball
Mooooooon Trina has a question!!!!!! We are gonna have to put a bell on her computer.
How sweet!!! Another gardener in the making she looks like she is enjoying it as much as mom.
I would honestly be in heaven if I could raise flowers that pretty!
she is a Daddy's girl, she helps pollinate, help with cuttings, she was outside when I was getting more cuttings today grabbing her own stash. Another DG (WQP) named a Hibiscus after her, she should be getting it in the mail this week.
This is also her favorite thing, the puppy on the right she named "Prince Phillip" poor thing never got a chance to walk on his own, she carried him everywhere, she was heart broken when he went to his forever home, we had to promise her to visit him (he is in PA)
You know stplong I purchased a small greenhouse from a local dept. store a couple of yrs ago. It was about 12x5 and it would have been perfect for the cost if I had just anchored it down. Only gave 60 dollars for it and was perfect for storing winter plants.
flowers, how close are you to Fayetteville?
ressurection plant now I remember! now watch in a week Donna I'll be asking if you have anymore coleus...LOL
how cold does your winter get? we would need 2 pretty good size ones, we have about 150 hibiscus, and 150 coleus, plus all the other plants, and he has over 100 cuttings started of the hibiscus
Well my direction sense is whacked (don't say a word girls lol) but thinking about an hour away.
Trina, I just went outside and took a bunch more and they are in water now, it is about 15 or so different plants, but I took at least 5 to 10 cuttings from each one
want some roses? you don't have to overwinter those
my son lives in Fayetteville, he hates it there, his wife in the army, he watns to enlist but I think he is going to come home and enlist here in 2 weeks
Get some really cold winters stp but those things are so compact that you could get a heavy roll of plastic and cover them and plants would probably do fine with some mulch.
I would have to see if Patrick wants some, we are house hunting right now, our last move before we head to Florida to plant our butts for good. when we move we have to dig up our daylillies and a couple of other plants that come back in the spring
Do they have a basic training there?
I think we are going to buy a green house this next spring. he was looking at one that was 8 x 10 but he said he would need about 4 of them just for the hibiscus.
No he will probably be sent to Fort Bragg, but he hates it there. he said they are not taking any new recruits there because there are so many trying to get in because there are no jobs. so he talked to a recruiter he today and he said he would see what he could do for him.
I have a friend that has a house for sale in Florida. It"s pretty big and pricey but will get the information from her if you would like. Think it is on the real estate web.
Well I know as a mom, that makes you a little antsy but admire his devotion to his country.
Sounds like you need a big greenhouse for sure. If your DH is gifted then maybe he could build you one with pcv pipes. Have seen that done and works good too.
we are looking to move around the cape coral area. last year at Christms when we was there it was in the 80's the kids was on the beach making sand angels
I would have no trouble moving to warmer ground in winter months. But need a cold Dec. for Christmas then 80 after that would be great lol
he'd probably be sent to fort Jackson SC or Fort Leonard wood Missouri (army bratt and son just finished his at fort Jackson did AIT there, but he did the basic training part at FT. Sill in Oklahoma
ok here's where I show the extint of my plant addiction so no laughing ladies!
My side of the bed...we have some lovely Ti plants an Oleander and some vinca vine around the bottom
I hate to see him join but, at his age with no college education he knows it is hard to find a good paying job, and while he is in he wants to learn underwater welding. he is good at welding. I just would hate to see him go over to Afg. or Iraq. his wife won't ever be sent over she is about 90 lbs wet. she works in the offices, she gets to give the people their papers telling them when they have to go over
Trina they haven't migrated to our bedroom yet, but this past spring I started geraniums in our bedroom windows
Ok, stplong it has been a pleasure talking to you and hope we can do it again. Gotta get the phone or daughter will think something is wrong. Take care and I will be praying for you and family in all your moves. Karen Night Trina!
