Thanks for reminding me about the Mountain Apples, Carol. I'll go look when the rain stops; hope it's not too late!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh, wow, beautiful!

The Madagascar Triangle Palm, Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana', Dasylirion (maybe), and Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (maybe) -- do they need lots of light, direct sun, paritial light?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Ohhh. We were looking forward to seed what they looked like on the inside.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

The reason I was asking about my new plants is because that the Dracaena and Dasylirion had a lot of yellow leaves on the bottom when I bought them. The first one still has yellowish to the leaves toward the center of the plant and one leaf is drooping and another leaf is about the same. I really don't know how to take care of these plants!

Keaau, HI

The Dracaena is okay with minimal lighting.

The Hibiscus and Dasylirion need full Sun. The Palm needs partial Sun when small and full Sun when it gets big.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Had to move some plants.

Why are the outer leaves of the Dasylirion yellowish? Also, are the tips brown because of the sun? Or these thing results of it being so root bound?

Keaau, HI

Could be a potassium deficiency. To you feed your plants regularly?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I don't think it has been a week since I got these plants. I gave it root stimulator and they say to give it again a week later. Then feed after that.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Sorry venice, yes there was a light frost up at my BF's place. A very light one.
And they just said patchy frost for tonight in Wisconsin. Lucky us. We have been cloudy and rainy all weekend :-(

OK that flower that should have been a coneflower,................ I started one of the seeds late this summer to see what they looked like, and this thing is now 32 inches tall............LOL
It has the blossom and 3 more buds on it.

Trina gave me 4 different types of hosta pods. There are 5 pods of the next to largest pod and each pod has about 10 seeds, that's 50 seeds!!!! lol Like I need that many seeds!!! The others will take a while to dry out yet.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Kassy, that is how my tall zinnias grow. The flower even would look like a zinnia but the leaf sure isn't. Pretty color though.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Venice, do you need a spreadsheet? ^_^

ditto your comment on Kassy's flower. I would have thought for sure a zinnia, but the leaves are different.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I sure would like my seeds as organized as Trina's!!! As soon as I get my seeds cleaned up and dried, I will put them in my prescription bottles and label them. THEN, I could do a spread sheet!!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Check this out Kassy http://www.burpee.com/product/id/103107.do

Wow Moon! You rock! You found Kassy's flower!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

ok so I planted some stuff and took a nap

make no mistake guys...I do NOT do thier laundry or clean up after them....that's the whole reason BF and I argue....my exact answer every time he gets tiffy about is I quit playing nursemaid to mine when he came off the bottle I am not about to play nursemaid to yours at thier ages!!! Mine has had "chores" since he started walking albeit at 2 they were simple chores. If he wants a pet he takes care of it from the instant it comes home right up to digging the whole and burrying it when it dies. If he breaks something he pays for it with his own money. And mine & the BF's biggest argument of all if my 13 yo walks out of this house and gets in trouble with the police my son knows my answer is "maybe a night in jail will teach ya not to do it again, I will be there for you, you are my son and I love you, but I will NOT fix it for you, you were big enough to make the decision to get in trouble then you'll have to be man enough to deal with the consequences"

he however thinks that just makes me a mean, well you know the word I was gonna use

Good going Jean on finding Kassy an I.D. on her pretty orange flower.

Hope all have had a great day and Trina I sure hope you get thing's straightened out in your world . Wishing you all the best.

Keaau, HI

The leaves certainly do look like a Tithonia. I guess Kassy's plant would be a cultivated dwarf; Tithonia that grow wild in Hawai'i are trees! They are known as Tree Marigolds.

Keaau, HI

Hi Rachel, how are you today?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hiya Rachel. Hope all is well with you. How was the vacation? Pictures?

I knew I recognized that leaf....Tithonia, Mexican sunflower

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

There are three or 4 species of Tithonia.....know diversifolia and T rotundifolia

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I will not click on Moon's links, I will not click on Moon's links, I will not click on Moon's links!

that is now my second mantra since joining DG

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

it's just a picture Trina, just look and then close it!

Keaau, HI

Both T. diversifolia & T. rotundifolia are wild in Hawai'i. Kassy's plant must be a T. rotundifolia cultivar. The natural species gets 12 ft. tall.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

But Julie you're not gonna ask what the first mantra is?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I think Kassy's is T rotundifolia 'Sundance' due to the clear color with the light striping of pink

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

okay, I'll bite Trina.....

Doing well Dave and hope you are as well.

Jean, I had a good vacation and will post a couple of pic's from my visit to the Exotic Rainforest in Siloam Springs AR. I had a tremendous visit with these people and was very intriqued with it all. Steve Lucas is a vessel of knowledge concerning Aroid's and I enjoyed every moment I spent with him.

Trina, how many plant's do you have in all now? Did you receive your plant's from LariAnn and if so what did you get;-);-)))) I want to know.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

hey Rachel Lari Ann just shot me an email that she would be mailing them in the morning and warned me to "put on your dancing shoes girl cause something extra decided it want to live with you too"

My first mantra since joining DG julie is, Do NOT ask Dave what the picture is of cause you'll just want one and he's gonna tell you it wont make a good houseplant

The first one to say come on inside;-)

Trina......You Lucky lil witch;-) Please post pic's of what LariAnn send's to you. I would love to see them myself.

I have to buy a new camera first mine wigged out on me, unless I use my cell phone but it doesn't take the greatest pictures....But I will try any way

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Don't laugh at me, but I don't really know Rachel very well. Is that your bird? I absolutely love birds!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

don't laugh at me again - I used to fly in my dreams when I was little. Firmly believe I know what it feels like to fly like a bird. That is one gorgeous bird!!

Looking up

Rachel, maybe you should post that other photo of your bird that you showed us before.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

we would never laugh at you Julie, about you, around you, and with you, but never at you!
