She was a Gypsy Woman....

I would but I don't think my step dad would go for that....they own the trailer but not the lot, and its a 1 bedroom trailer, and my little sister lives there (very crowded), I love my sister but we do NOT get along with each other for more than 10 minutes after that 10 minute time frame it disolves

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Then it sounds like penny pinching time with a goal in mind. You have to think about your son and what is the very best scenario for him. Ultimately, he is your first priority....what lessons is he learning from all of this? Is that what you want him to strive for as an adult? Where do you see him 5 years from now if you maintain the status quo? Is that what you want for him?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

well daylight is burning, it's not raining today, in fact its rather warm and sunny so I am going to go do some stuff outside (see if those rose of sharon seeds are ready to pop yet too) while I still have peace before the kids get up...see ya'll in a little while!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Trina, I am in a relationship that I learned was going no where, and now after we had a talk, he is scared that I might walk out. Gotta keep them guessing sometimes. (Dave, ignore us!!) Things seem to be changing.

He was at a car deal here while I was at one at home, trying to help me out as fast as he could. Texting me all the time. He didn't realize I was at a dealer at the same time.....LOL

I had stopped the spending a while back so I would save the money to put down on the car, and I put down a large amount.

Lets Just say that my kid knew when he was in trouble from day one.
If he knew he did something that mom didn't like...............and he got grounded for it.......... by the time I got home from work the house was spotless.

He had a speeding tickit with his car once and walked in and handed me the keys and his license..........I was worried that he had been in an accident.
I took the keys and the license and said nothing. That silence sure worked with my son.
He just sat there wondering what was going to happen.................LOL

My input on cell phones for kids................They don't need them unless they can only call mom or dad or 911.

But I have a son who never did drug or smoked. Can say he didn't try drinking, but then he didn't drive when he did. And he held down jobs since he was 13 years old. At that age he had 2 paper routes, so he learned responsibility. Also worked in a car wash, and went to work in a fast food place as soon as he was old enough to.

All good questions Moon, and stuff I will ponder over in the garden, today. gonna enjoy the sun while I have it! Thanks for listening, sometimes not having any friends sucks!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I mean people here where I'm at, so please nobody get offended, usually I talk to my mom about all of this but right now I want her to concentrate on getting better and not be worrying about me! Alright I'm really out of here this time

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I am not trying to be mean or hard on you, but I am firm in my belief that we bring them into the world and it is our responsibility to see to it that they have the tools to survive and the backbone to stand on their own two feet when they walk out our door....no better way than to show them that through our own resolve and actions.

Have a better day, Trina. There really is light at the end of the tunnel...how soon you get there depends solely on you.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Jean, my GF use to tell her son when he was young............."I brought you into this world and I can take you out too"..................LOL

He usually listened then ;-)

That is what orange is!! Very nice!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Thank you venice.
The person who sent me the seeds said they were a cone flower.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Doen't look like any cone flower I have seen, but I like it.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

We have 2 really low jets flying around here a few times. They make a lot of noise!!! We must have a Colts game here or something. Now there are 4 of them!!! They must be a little early for a 1:00 game!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Kassy, I would say that is a case of possible mistaken identity....or poor choice of common names. I googled orange cone flower and nothing vaguely resembling that one came up....

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

maybe a gazannia or zinnia or even a painted daisy....definately not a coneflower

Keaau, HI

Hello everyone! Aloha aku!

Some good responsibility talk going on.

Any teenager that can eat, make clothes dirty, and mess things up, is old enough to do dishes, wash clothes, and clean up their mess.
Any teenager that argues with an adult over their responsibilities, does not deserve privileges.
End the live-in maid service. If the kids want clean clothes to wear and clean dishes to eat off of, they need to learn how to be responsible for themselves.
They have a big wake-up call coming when you are no longer there to be their nanny!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

That's what I told The Boy when he moved out, Dave. He said they could do it, but it would be squeaky (he and his girl live together). I told him he really had to have money for extras - couldn't expect me to pay for his glasses if they get broken in the mosh pit, car expenses, etc...

Keaau, HI

If you don't go into the mosh pit, you won't have to fight your way out of it.

Teenagers tend to be heavily influenced by their friends. If their friend tells them to jump off a cliff, it's a lot of fun; then they have an idiot for a friend!

To change the subject --- I have 2 plant questions.

1) Are these impatiens?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

2) I dug up these dogwood sprouts, if you can call them that. They were attached to the roots of a bigger tree. If I plant them, will they grow into a regular tree? Should I keep them in the house for the winter? Any suggestions?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Venice, #1: yes. #2: I don't know nothing 'bout no dogwoods

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Smiley, thanks. I thought so but I get them confused with something similar.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I agree with Smiley...haven't had any experience with dogwood.

I agree Dave....kids have to learn responsibility and they only do that if it is expected of them.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

true, Dave. My boy didn't have a problem with peer pressure, but the girl is a different story. We always tried to teach our kids to be their own person, but they are who they are.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

You don't have dogwood trees around there? They are so pretty in the early spring!

Trina? Do you have dogwood trees over there?

Keaau, HI

Yes, Impatiens walleriana, Busy Lizzie.

It is right to take Dogwood cuttings in the Fall. Don't know about keeping them indoors.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave, you think I should just stick them in the ground the way they are?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

There is a wonderful book out there titled "odd girl out" about teenage girls (and even some adults) and how they deal with peer pressure. A real eye opener, for those that have girls. Even younger than teenagers. It also relates to what we had to deal with as young girls.

Well, not Dave.

Books are way better than the movie. I highly recommend it, if you haven't read it yet.

It's so different the way boys handle things compared to girls.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

There are dogwood here, Venice. I just don't happen to have one. They are very pretty in spring!

There are lilacs around here in spring. Gazillions of lilacs.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yes, we have dogwoods here, I just don't have any.

My daughter was not nearly as susceptible to peer pressure as her brothers.....

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks, Dave, for the Busy Lizzy name.

Keaau, HI

It's probably best to start the cuttings in individual pots. When the new plant is healthy and sturdy, then place it in the ground.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave, that means I will have it inside all winter. Is that ok?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave what do the roots of a yucca look like?

Keaau, HI

I Googled the subject and that is what other growers do; overwinter the cuttings indoors.

Keaau, HI

Yucca's and their relatives are fibrous rooted (no taproot).

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Great! Thanks Dave.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

When I went to look up yucca roots, it had recipes for it. So that is why I was curious.

Keaau, HI

Be sure of the species before you cook with it!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I am not interested in eating it!

Do you eat it?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Are those apples ripe yet?

Jesup, GA

Hey every one. Hey Moon. Hows my fairy godmother doing? I was sending every one pictures of the poo babys and my dog. Only my dogs picture came through. The poo babys must have been web napped.
