I think you could both have a very good point Ky and Kwanjin.
I can also add that we asked around everywhere in the area if anyone knew or knew of someone who had a Cairn. That hit with a blank.
Our neighbour told us that the little dog stood at our gate as if it was waiting for someone to let it in. It had been looking toward our door. That's what made them think it was Gemma. It did that twice.
We have to smile whenever we go out anywhere because we are always somehow reminded of her. It can be something like a favorite toy or a trinket with a picture of a Cairn...anything to remind us our her.
Cairn's aren't a common breed over here and when she was alive it was rarely that we found Cairn memorabilia. Now they seem to be everywhere, LOL
It's also comforting to think that Gemma is still being loved and cared for 'over the rainbow bridge'.
Here she is wearing her snowboots.

Spooks and ghosts and weeping ladies...oh my! Pt 6
She was just so adorable!
Kawonkamish (Greetings) Terri,
She was a wekon peunequt (sweet little one). I concur with KyWoods and kwanjin. I think it was Gemma's keteahogkou (spirit) looking for you. I also think, the lady you saw taking her away, was a womonausu keteahogkou (kindly spirit) showing her the path to the Ukquanogquon Toyusk (Rainbow Bridge).

Ohhh, thank you a million times for that Snowrabbit.
That was something we wanted to believe. Although I am the one who has 'experiences', hubby is by far the more spiritual one (or at least I believe he is). He read your words and said, ' Yes, exactly! I told you Gemma was being cared for'.
It is very comforting to know that our dear little dog is being looked after by kindly spirits.
Peace to you also, and thank you.

It's comforting to know we have loved ones waiting for us.
Gemma was such a cutie, thanks for sharing her pictures. Several years ago I lost two of my cats within 3 months of each other. Both were fully brown tabbies. Every so often I see what looks like a brown tabby out of the corner of my eye, I usually think it's just one of my other cats (tabbies too but almost all white). But there's never a kitty there. Maybe I just miss them or they're checking in?
Kaprys, isn't it lovely to be reminded of them when we least expect it?
Your words reminded me of the two lovely brown tabbies that we used to have.
I'm sure our pets have a way of gently jogging our memory and letting us know they're somewhere, just out of reach, waiting for us.
I have visions of being swamped by slobbery tongues and furry little bodies all rushing to greet me when my time comes.
Hey, I hope they've been taught to wipe their paws 'over the rainbow bridge'. Then again, life just isn't the same without those muddy paw marks to clean up.
Last year when writing Christmas cards I had to smile. I was looking through my address book and came across one page that had a muddy paw print on it. I remembered Gemma had come running in from the garden the previous year. The book had been lying open on the floor as I was wrapping gifts and writing cards. Always keen to join in she plonked her muddy paws bang in the middle of everything.
She was reminding me that she was still there in spirit...or at least that's what I like to think.
:)
Awww, what a sweet thing to find--you have her signature!
I would be thrilled to see my past furbabies again--you are truly blessed, kaprys!
That is so sweet about the pawprint and the memory it brought back!
I took pawprints of both my tabbies before they passed, I have them in the frames with their pictures.
Kawonkamish Nishnoh Greetings Everyone,
Well I have had a few more incidents to report.
February 16, 2011 11:47 PM: I was in my bedroom and I noticed I needed to refill my humidifier, so I headed towards the kitchen. As I was walking past the fireplace, I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. As I turned my gaze to the direction of the porch, I saw It. It was the shadow spirit that seems to "live" on the porch. He was moving from one end of the porch to the other. I know it was not my shadow I saw, because I was well past the bathroom, so the nightlight in there would not have casted my shadow. I made sure of that, by looking towards the porch, on my return trip to my room. I only saw my shadow as I passed in front of the bathroom. On my return trip to the kitchen, when I had finished using the teakettle, I looked towards the porch again, while passing in front of the bathroom door; I noticed I did not cast a shadow after I passed the light coming out from the bathroom. So it was not my shadow that I saw previously.
February 17, 2011 10:59 AM: I have been sitting here at the computer for a few minutes and I keep hearing movement out in the parlor; it is the sound of the old wooden floor boards creaking. Nokas is at the senior center, so I know it is not her and seeing as I have lived here my whole life; I know the difference between an old house settling and the noise that someone walking on the floor boards make. This is definitely the floor boards creaking.

Wow! It was in the form of a man?
All very strange, SnowRabbit.
Have you ever tried talking to whoever is making the shadows or noises?
I'm absolutely intrigued and love to read of your 'happenings' (for want of a better word).
I'm particularly puzzled about the porch spirit. I wonder why he appears at that particular spot. I know about those old floorboards creaking too, I live in a house like that and the noise is unmistakeable.
Keep us posted on future happenings, it's so interesting.

Kawonkamish Nishnoh Greetings Everyone,
I am sorry, that I have not posted in awhile. I have been busy beading my Regalia and other projects.
September 2, 2011 7:35 PM: I went in the bathroom to brush my teeth. While in there, I noticed the battery-operated candle was still in there, from Hurricane Irene. I twisted the bulb to turn it on, but nothing happened. I checked the battery to see if it still had "juice" in it. It registered it had full-power, so I put the candle back together and twisted the bulb on and off, about four or five times; still no light... I checked the bulb itself and the bulb was fine, the coil was intact. I twisted it to the off position and put it down. I then proceeded to brush my teeth. When I was done, I turned to leave and I was startled to see the candle was lit, bright as it ever was. I thought what the heck... I picked it up and checked the bulb. It was seated in the socket tightly. I know, for a fact, it was not screwed in, because I unscrewed it. I screwed it on and off five times and each time it lit up. I said, "What ever!" and walk out of the bathroom.

They're baaaaaaaack! Freaky! Nice to see you again, Mac! I hope you got no damage from the storm.
I've been doggie sitting at a friend's house, and she has sattelite tv, so I've been enjoying lots of ghost shows.
I hope everyone's been doing well.
Everything here is well. A couple of sightings of the white cat but nothing more.
Kawonkamish Nishnoh,
The only damage was the top of our Koowa(Pine... I do not know the word for Hemlock) snapped off. It took out the wires, that lead down the avenue, so my neighbors lost power. It took out half of the avenue, but because it snapped off past our house, it did not effect our electricity. Luckily, my neighbors have a humorous streak and could laugh about it. They teased us to no end. The only other problems, were limbs and branches down. We got about a cord of wood out of that piece of Koowa.

Very lucky, indeed, that's all that was lost. So glad you and your neighbors are safe. So many were not.
Kawonkamish kwanjin,
True, we had to wait 4 hours for National Grid to take care of the downed wire and treetop. A fireman had to wait, blocking access to the road, the whole time. After N.G. arrived, it took 2 hours for the power to be restored. They had to reroute it from the neighboring town. The way they would have done it previously would not have worked, as there was major damage to the power grid in that direction. The power for the rest of town was restored, between 2 to 5 days later.
