Spooks and ghosts and weeping ladies...oh my! Pt 6

(Zone 7a)

Yes, ouch! Good luck being sent your way!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Well I have lurked but not had anything happen for awhile. Until last week anyways!

2 of our granddaughters were here last week for fall break so we were busy and the house was noisey again for a few days!

I forget which day it was tuesday or wednesday...Hayly the oldest was on the computer and Tori the younger one was watching TV in the family room. I went upstairs to do my excercise DVD in the spare room like I do all the time.

Was just going along doing my thing. Had finished 2 miles and was starting mile 3 when the TV SHUT OFF!!! Not the DVD player...Not the Electricty...everything else was still on upstairs and downstairs. Just THAT TV turned off!! Kind of like the vacum thing I had last year. REALLY freaked me out!

Anyway, I needed to finish up so I turned it back on and started the DVD back up where it was when the TV shut off and finished.

Nothing huge but it was very odd to say the least!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Maybe you wore the poor tv out with all those miles you've been walking with the dvd. LOL

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

HA!!! That is what DH said....the TV was tired!!

Ashland City, TN

I'm bbbaaaccckkkk:) Jumping back on the computer makes it seem like surgery isn't a big deal - one day you're there, the next your not, then there you are again...lol...wish life was that simple. Anyway thanks for the best wishes. I just got home from my neck fusion surgery yesterday and am just now back on the computer - the pain meds have kicked in:) So far so good on the neck thing.

Nanny_56, maybe it was the extra energy sent out from your body putting out so much energy from exercising. That must mean you have a very strong ability to attract energy around you - or that could just be my meds talking...;)

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Scarediecat....I think it is the meds talking!! LOL

Take care and don't over do. My DH had a fusion several about 4-5 yrs ago. Just do what they tell ya to do!

(Zone 7a)

I think it's both!!! LOL Good to see you back!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Yes, I'm glad you feel good enough to check in with your DG friends! Sending more prayers for continued healing...

Ashland City, TN

Thanks everyone...it's good to be able to just relax and chat with friends and NOT worry about all the unfinished business...lol

(Zone 7a)

Amen.

Kawonkamish Netopaug(Greetings My Friends),

It has been a long time since I or anyone else has posted. How is everyone? Have there been any new happenings? There has been a few on my end...

Yesterday I was alone in the house ... Our back step light blew and I have not had a chance to change it. I left the shade up and the kitchen light on, for when Nokas(my Mother), came home from a birthday party, it would light the pathway. For many hours all was well, then I went into the bathroom and when I returned to the parlor I noticed that the Kitchen light was off. I assumed that the bulb had blown, like the outdoor step had. Boy was I wrong; I walked over to the doorway and reach in to turn the switch off, low and behold the switch was already turned off. I stood there for a moment gobsmacked; not moving a muscle, just my eyes looking to and fro. I then said, 'Okay'. I turned the light back on and walked over to the high back chair and sat down and watched some more cooking shows, but of course now my eyes kept straying back to the kitchen doorway.

Later on I heard a vehicle pull up in the driveway, but then sometimes the neighbors coming home sound that way too. I got up, went to my room and peered out my window, to see if anyone was in the driveway. Netompmy Brother had brought Nokas home. As I was coming out of my room, I heard Nokas flick the kitchen light switch. I asked her if it was off? She said, "Yes, it was." Now that light was on when I went to my room to look out the window and the switch makes a lot of noise when it is flicked on or off; a very loud click that can be heard throughout the house. I never heard it click either times it happened.

Wow, that's freaky! I knew something was up when I saw the thread in my 'watched' list. Nothing unusual has happened here lately. Anyone else?

(Zone 7a)

Nothing real unusual here lately. The white cat never really goes away but other than that...

We're well here. It's cold and I'm sick of brown, grey and white! LOL

Kawonkamish Netopaug(Greetings My Friends),

I am glad you are both well and things are quiet.

Well, during Christmas, the porch was rearranged to make room for the Christmas tree. Now if you are facing the porch from the parlor, the tree would be on your right hand side and the couch, that I used to sleep on, is on the left side of the room. well they moved everything around. They took out a high-back chair and a large, round, two-tiered table, that is being used as a plant stand. They moved two plant stands to the left side of the room and moved another two-tiered table, this one square, to the parlor side of the room away from the windows. Off and on over the years, I have felt weird vibes at night emanating from the porch. You may recall my mentioning in a previous post that my niece saw a shadow person standing at the opposite end of the porch when she was sleeping out there one time

One night as I was coming out of the bathroom, heading back to my room, the feeling of being watched seemed to intensify. I glanced up and saw the shadow of a person on the the porch. I know it was not my shadow, because my shadow was in front of me and you could see it was darkening the shadowbox window. The Shadow on the porch was to my left and was behind the shadowbox window. I looked at it for a few moments, not quite registering what I was seeing, then turned quickly and went into my room. I closed the door behind me fast. All through Christmas it was like that; sometimes it was just the 'feeling' or I would get the 'feeling' and see the Shadow.

I lived in a house once that strange things started happening. Like one night I had put the baby to bed and was sitting in the big chair watching tv when suddenly the front door opened up and I heard footsteps going down the hall towards the bedrooms. I jumped to my feet and ran down the hall afraid for the baby. The door of the spare room opened and closed. I grabbed the baby and ran for the phone, thinking someone had entered my house. I called 911 and ran out and locked the baby and me in the dog kennel with my dog. HE would not even let my husband near me without my permission. When the police showed up, I let them search the house and yard before I came out of the kennel. When I told them what happened the one officer said how I should keep my doors locked at all times. I told him I thought I had locked the front door after my husband had gone to work that afternoon. He got smart with me and said that apparently I hadn't. Than one of the other officers came over and said "Come look at this." My front door locked with a deadbolt and when we got to the front door, the deadbolt had been set. I had locked it, but the door was wide open and the bolt was not withdrawn. It was still sticking out. But there was no damage to the door jam. And no finger prints, no foot prints in the house except my husbands and myself.

After this happened twice more, I yelled one night that at least they could shut the darn door after they came in. The foot steps came back up the hall, the front door closed and the footsteps when down the hall and into the spare bedroom. When I checked the room there was no one there. After time, I named my nightly visitor "George" He did not seem to mind.

Mary

(Zone 7a)

Mary, that must have been very frightening for you. I'm glad "George" doesn't mind and he closes the door now.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

This happened when my son was just born. He is now 41 years old and like to tell people about George visiting our home when he was young. He says if it ever happens to him, he hopes that he can be as fair and kind as I was. Told him I don't know if I was being fair and kind, just did not want to make anything made when it could open the front door and not undue the dead bolt to do it.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Wow...spooky!

Clinton Township, MI(Zone 5b)

I was always skeptical about the paranormal until I went to college. I went to college in a small town in Houghton, MI, in Michigan's upper penninsula. In it's heyday, the Kewenau peninsula (which juts out into Lake Superior) was world reknown for it's copper mines. A lot of houses built and lived in by students were former boarding houses for miners during the 1800's. My most personal experience came about 3:00 am at night while I was working on a paper in the kitchen. The table I was working at backed up to windows and the chair I was sitting at hit the wall with the windows behind me. The cupboards in the kitchen had a mirror between the upper and lower cabinets. Suddenly, I felt a hand come down really hard on my shoulder, like someone trying to get my attention. When I looked up into the mirror between the cabinets, no one was there. No one could be behind me because my chair hit the wall behind me. The next morning, I told my housemates what happened and showed them the bruise that looked like a hand on my shoulder.

We started sharing our stories. Faucets turning on by themselves, house dog barking and hissing at the doorway of one of the rooms when no one was in the room, pictures in the living room turned upside down. After some research, found out that the house we lived in was a former boarding house from when the mines were open that caught on fire in late 1800's where several people died. Too many more stories than to post here. Since then, I have believed in the paranormal!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Freaky! And you all chose to stay there anyway?

(Zone 7a)

I suppose you really didn't have a choice on whether to stay there or not? It doesn't sound like anyone was hurt. Still...I read this in the middle of the night before this posting and got a good case of the willies! LOL

Please share more if you want. We'd love to hear them, willies or not.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

LOL, never a good time to read scary stories...but it's sooo much fun for some reason.

Clinton Township, MI(Zone 5b)

Yep, we all stayed in the house because it was cheap and we were seven poor college students! Houghton is small - up until the early '80s the closest McD's was 99 miles away - and averaged over 200 inches of snow a year (not much to do but study, ski, and drink) and we thought having a haunted house was cool and spiced things up a bit. As far as we know, I was the only one touched with such force, most just felt tugging on their hair or clothes, if physically touched at all. Touching didn't happen often and some never physically felt anything. However, all experienced the faucets, etc. We talked about it amongst ourselves but did say much to others who did not live in the house unless they experienced something because, like I said, this was a small town and we didn't want a lot of students hanging around waiting for something to happen!

I finally made it back to there about 15 years after graduating. The house was torn down and a laundry mat is now on the site. Wonder if the ghosts now haunt the laundry mat.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

That would be fun to find out. Maybe you could ask the owners, lol.

(Zone 7a)

I wonder, too. LOL

Kawonkamish Netopaug(Greetings My Friends),

Wow, great experiences marti001 and Zinnia1, though I guess at the time, it was not so great for you.

Something new happened two nights ago, well early morning, as I was in the bathroom. It was approximately 5:20 AM When I heard, what could only be described as claws scrambling in the bath tub. The only light on was the 4 watt nightlight, so I turned on the over head light, nothing was there. It sounded loud, like large claws about the size of a cat's. If you have ever bathed a cat in a bath tub; you know the sound their claws make, when they scramble, trying to flee the tub. I checked the tub and surround, there was nothing. I went down to the basement and checked around, there was nothing amiss there either.

Later that morning Nokas went to take a shower; turned the hot water on and almost got scalded, as the water came cascading down from the shower head. She had taken a shower on the previous day and had closed off the shower head. We do not know how that got turned back on. That happened to me as well. I went to wash my feet in the tub and as I turned on the water I got sprayed. That time I was the last person to shower and I know I had turned off the shower head.

Last night was game night here and while we were playing games in the kitchen, we heard the backdoor latch open, as if someone was going to enter the house. At first I thought it might be Netomp ummittamwussoh(my sister-in-law), but Netop K(My friend K) who was standing near the door, looked out and saw no one. Nokas asked her to lock the door just in case. About a half hour later, we heard the door latch open again. Still there was no one there.

It now seems to be able to mimic my cell phone. When my cell battery gets low it makes a distinct chirping noise. You can hear it throughout the house it is so loud. I did not have to be up for work until 7AM, my boss called me at 8Am and told me I did not have to go in today... yippee. I digress... Well at 4:20 AM this morning, I had just gotten back from the kitchen, where I was getting a drink and was settling down to go back to sleep. I heard CHIRP. I am like you have got to be kidding me... I just charged you up yesterday. I waited... CHIRP... grrr. I got up, walked into the parlor and check my cell. It had a full charge. I went back to bed, muttering a few choice words, that I can not repeat here or in mixed company; I was just so ticked off.

The thing was about George is that after the first couple of times he came to visit, I was not bothered by him. He came in every night about the same time, went down the hall and into the spare bedroom. After a while he began visiting other rooms and even outside to pet my horse. I heard the baby crying one night and went to get his bottle when he stopped crying and started making what sounded like laughing. I went to his room and he was lying of his back and you know how a baby acts when you tickle its stomach. Well, that's what my son was doing and I knew George was there. I could feel him. So I told him to watch the baby while I warmed a bottle. He made an excellant baby sitter after that. When ever he was in the house and the baby cryed. George would go play with him. I knew when he was out in the yard as my dog, who was very protective, would be acting like he was following someone. Than the gate to the horse corral would open and close and than you could see my horse acting like someone was scratching his back. His top lip would be wiggling back and forth. I lived there for a year and George came to visit every evening. About a year after I left there I was in the neighborhood and stopped and met the people who lived there. I asked them if they had heard or seen anything strange. They said no. I hope George found someone else to visit with that appreciated him as I did.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Wow, that's a great story! Maybe the new tenants just weren't able to hear/see what you did, or they didn't pay attention, figuring it was explainable some other way.

(Zone 7a)

I think that's part of the problem. Most people aren't paying attention?

(Zone 7a)

Our cats have decided looking at the ceiling near the front door or near the hallway is a wonderful pastime. It's starting the freak us out. They wake up, look at the ceiling and sometimes start to fluff the fur out.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Hmmm...maybe you should try taking a picture of that spot and see if anything shows up on the pic??

(Zone 7a)

Oh! Good idea.

Kawonkamish Greetings,

I hope George found someone else to visit with that appreciated him as I did

I hope so, too. It would be sad to think him being lonely.

kwanjin, Anything new happen? Have you gotten a pic of it yet?

February 26, 2010 7:34 PM: Nokas and I where sitting in the parlor watching television, when we both heard a tap sound out from the kitchen. The sound was coming from the wall, between the back door and the window. Then later on, at 11:37 PM, it sounded out again. This has happened before.

March 1, 2010 4:39 AM: It happened again. I got up to use the bathroom and when I went in there, I heard the sounds again. It still sounded like claws on porcelain, as if what ever it was, was there inside the tub, scrambling to get out of it. I checked and there was nothing there. I went down to the basement and there was nothing amiss. No rodents or anything that would cause the sounds. shivers

I did try to take a picture but all I get is the hallway. I decided to stand where the cats are looking when it happens and I can hear cars from outside. I think it's the hole in the roof for the evaporative cooler causing an echo effect. The cats continue to look at the front door, however. I can't figure that one out.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Kawonkamish kwanjin,

Hmm, maybe the cats are hearing sounds coming from the hole, that you can not hear. Animals can hear higher and lower tones/pitches than we can.

I think you're probably correct.

Everyone is well. I'm not hearing any noises or seeing cats that don't live here. how about everyone else?

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Same here, except for the cat issue...but ours aren't ghosts, lol. Got one healing from spaying and one at the clinic to pick up tomorrow. Five more to go (ferals), or at least I thought so until I saw a new face in the crowd yesterday!

My friend Tammy is still hearing and experiencing weird things at her apt., though. I was there yesterday and we heard a noise in the kitchen that I thought sounded like a refrigerator noise. She said no, she heard the same noise in the bedroom the day before.
She has a cross hanging above her son's bed, which she's found on the floor across the room. She has a copy of the New Testament on his bookshelf which falls on the floor, and yesterday was just gone.
Noises are one thing, but that kinda scares me...

(Zone 7a)

So great you take care of the ferals.

That IS kind of strange. I hope things are okay with her.

Our refrigerator makes weird noises. We call them the "Tommyknockers".

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

LOL, that's a fun word! I just got home from her apt. and boy am I exhausted! We were moving furniture. Her neighbor says she's a 'sensitive', and she picked up some bad vibes from Tammy's four-year old's bedroom. We took apart his bed and moved it into Tammy's room next to hers. I hope it helps.
I spent the night there alone one night when Tammy was out of town and I was house sitting, but I noticed nothing out of the ordinary. I guess the ghosts were confused with a stranger staying there, lol.
