Aloha ahiahi Dave and to your puppies!
Is it nearly 8:30PM there now? Or is it 7:30AM?
HEY GYPSY
It's 8:30 here now.
PM?
AM! We are 6 hours behind the East Coast (5 hours during Daylight Savings Time).
Just in the news: Hawai'i is under a Tsunami Watch, due to a 7.9 Earthquake in Samoa.
oh great, now we have to worry about Dave being hit by a tsunami...
Dave, if California is behind us, it only makes sense that you are further behind us. Got it!!
Goodness sakes!!!! A Tsunami Watch!
I am just wondering, do you have those often since you are out there exposed in the ocean?
Dave you and the Dogs batten down the hatches and be safe!
IF TSUNAMI WAVES IMPACT HAWAII THE ESTIMATED EARLIEST ARRIVAL OF THE FIRST TSUNAMI WAVE IS 0111 PM HST TUE 29 SEP 2009
That is our time of 7:11 PM, right?
Dave I am sorry, but I forget. Which island are you on? Also, what is you longitude and latitude there?
And if one does hit you get a hold of us as soon as you can, we're all praying for you!
On the Big Island of Hawai'i. 19 N X 155 W.
911 ft. elev.
ditto Trina. i don't want to have to worry about Dave, he's too much fun!
I don't care how high your up just be careful!.....you could accidently mail me some wild orchids before hand, or some agave....LOL Just my habit make a funny when things get serious
But do be safe
Dave, do you live close to the Mamalahoa Hwy? In Ninole?
I live near Pahoa, in Puna District.
Cyclone on Pearl Harbor! No boating on NE side of Big Island.
On the Big Island, is leeward and windward generally in the same place?
If Hawaii is going to get a Tsunami, it is coming from the SW, right. And you are more on the NE part of the Big Island.
The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park look so big in an aerial view! Makes the other ones look small. It pours right into the ocean on 2 sides. Looks amazing!
See this!

TSUNAMI WATCH FOR HAWAII IS CANCELLED BUT A TSUNAMI ADVISORY
IS IN EFFECT.
Windward is on the windward side of the Island, leeward is on the opposite side.
The Tsunami Watch has been canceled, but 50 ft. waves did kill some folks in Samoa.
I found Phoa. Is that an olympic size swimming pool there?
If windward in on the windward side, what side it that? Does the wind usually come from one direction?

50 foot waves! So awfull for those people in Samoa.
Yes, the County of Hawai'i has been making improvements at many parks in Puna to give folks places for recreation. Good thing too as the local government has long been accused of catering to tourists rather than helping the folks that live here.
I just got a box of plants...Doing the Happy Dance at the same time as the Prayer dance
Windward is generally North and East, Leeward is South and West.
what did you get Trina?
Hibiscus, red Ti, Croton, seeds...hehehe
Hey Dave can I make starts out of the leaves of croton's if I knocked one off?
nice!
16 cuttings and about 50 seeds
Not just from the leaf unless there is a little stem attached to it.
kinda we'll just have to see what happens
I have tried it a few times without success.
Dave how do you say thank you!
Trina, 1790 total! Are you sure you are counting everything? The ones from your balcony?
When are you going to get your greenhouse?
I am digging up my pink fountain gaura.
Does anyone want a piece of it???
well that was a dumb question, of course I want some!....yes even the ones on the balcony have been counted because they have already been moved into the house!
Mahalo = Thank you.
Crotons are propagated by removing 8 to 12 inches of a branch end, taking off the lower leaves and sticking the cutting in soil. The leaves will not grow a new plant.
Dave, mahalo for the info on wind!
Trina, do you want to see if you can save my little Butterfly Bush that hasn't grown at all this year?
E komo mai. Mahalo nui loa!
Dave, a hui hou also!
So what does E komo mai mean
yes Venice I will try the butterfly bush when you are done with your Hawaiian lessons
