A few days ago (Saturday, I think), I started twenty hib seeds (four different varieties), and to date, 8 have germinated using the paper towel/baggy on the cable box method. I just put the ones that germ'd in small seedling trays to see how they do. I'm so excited! :-)

I started 5 each of Hibiscus Coccineus (3 germ'd); Luna Red (2 germ'd); and two other hardy varieties -- pink and white -- of which 3 germ'd. I don't think I nicked the others right, so I re-nicked them again and reset them on the cable box to see if they'll germ as well. But I'm happy that I got 8 to go already.

(I'm a newbie at this, can't you tell? LOL).

Hi Tubby, I'm not sure if I have any indian grass seed left, I might have given it to arejay for the newbies, but I did give a bunch of ornamental grass seed of some kind to my DS, so let me check and see if she has any left and what kind it is first. OK?
Whew, what a day! Winter storm warning in effect for us until Thursday night. Bother!! I don't have time for winter storms now. It can just wait! Until November, maybe. LOL

Now I told you to just send those snow storms my way. I love snow. It is getting down to 49 here tonight. It's in the upper 70's and 80's in the daytime but 50's at night and tonight 49 so it's nice. I can enjoy it. Just color me happy again.

skellogg That is okay..If you get some ornamental grass seed that would be good.No problem if you don't.. Green ash seeds works also..

Good morning. Well, Mekos, a little white stuff coming your way today. Not sure I would call it a winter storm, but we do have white stuff on the ground, barely. But the wind is blowing and it is still falling from the sky, so we will see how much it piles up today.

Thank you so much skellogg...My son has a big test first block at school so now I have to wait till 9 to leave..He wanted to get his assignments for the next few days so he wouldnt get behind...What a fine responsible young man he is...He is taking 2 college courses this year (10th grade) through a program at school.. If he passes these courses he gets paid a 100.00 incentive from the school.. SO he is working hard for the money...My other son lol he hates school...rather be out driving a tractor...sigh..He is a survivor he doesnt care what he has to do to make money he is 13 worked all summer for who ever would ever would hire him ..lol He hasnt spent a red cent of his money either ...Rather spend mine....I like to see him not squander his money away tho...The educated one(ha thats what he calls himself) really doesnt like to work .. lol funny how different my children are...

Huney, sounds like those 2 boys will even date entirely different kinds of girls. LOL Our twin grandsons are going to be so different also. You have done a great job with them, as they save money, and work hard, and have smarts. You should be proud!! Nice job!

Skellogg- U are funny girl- a haircut like a bat flower! But ya know, it can be done. I have a picture of a purple one Seray sent me and made it my desktop pic and I could so do that! The haircut I designed I named "Cleopatra" didn't cut it yet, but don't be surprised if I post a pic of an ugly mannequin head named Debra that looks like a bat flower!

Flower! Thats funny that you are a cosmetologist too! 1500 hrs here also, I am at about 500.. But PM is pretty advanced. I have a lot of clients already if you can believe it. I haven't done a perm on a live person yet, but can rock it out on my mannequin. Perms just kind of aren't in style right now, you know how things change so much. But we do a lot of shampoo sets, relaxers, cuts & coloring. Being near Memphis & all, we have a pretty diverse group of clients. I like being to able to do a service on anyone that walks in. I do a lot of block coloring and co-lites which are cool and creative. I have even done purple under my daughters hair and it looked awesome! I will show you a pic. I like saving money buying product and being able to do my girls' hair at my cost. I had to pay that bill a time or two and uh-uh, not doing that anymore. So if you ever need any Paul Mitchell stuff, I get everything 50% off.. Lots of great products out right now. And the styling tools are really awesome too.

Miss Seray- I haven't forgotten about you my dear friend! Did you want some of my Hosta for your shade bed? I just found another cultivar today. It looks like Patriot but it has yellow swirls instead. Maybe you know what it is? I will be able to send out Monday. Just tell me what you'd like. I have some nice Surprise Lily Bulbs for you.

I still have a jillion Red Spider Lilies if anyone wants them.. just dmail me and send me a SASBE. I have at least 100 of them ready to go. Lolly, glad you got yours and if you want more, you know what to do! LOL

I got a variegated Rose of Sharon today! It has unusual shaped flowers but they are a burgundy color. Can't wait to see how it will do.. I also got a "Plum Crazy" Hibiscus too! I am gonna baby that plant to death! Purple is my favorite color and i love hibbies , so can't wait to see it. I think I am getting my greenhouse this weekend, I had one here on my property and didn't know it! Just have to move it. Need to get my veggies started soon . I will send pics..

GM, thanks guys.. Courtney gives me the chills when she sings. She sang at her school yesterday with a boy our family knows.. He's kind of her "love interest" so you can imagine she was on cloud nine, texting me all day about it, lol. The boys are swarmimg let me tell ya.. Gotta get out my fly swatter, lol.. We are in the Country Music state so there would be no excuse for her not to make it someday with her talent. She taught herself to play the guitar when she was only 13. My husband plays too, so she picked up a lot from him. She just goes online and gets the chords and lyrics and can play any song. She was offered at her first public performance a chance to record a demo for free at a local studio. Ya never know, huh guys? : )
I got 2 beautiful Belladonna Lily bulbs yesterday.. planted them in one of my lasagna beds. They must weigh a pound or more. Will share when I get babies..

Lovely daughter Mechelle.
I am looking for some plants and some suggestions.
The plants: Moses in Basket that bloom white and the red. (yes Mekos I still have the one you sent me these are for a friend of my sister who's trading me plants) and a devil's claw cactus.

Suggestions for my shady bed. How long do colubines bloom? And I need suggestions for filling the middle sides of the bed (not the main middle of the bed it has a large rock there that can;'t be moved so I'm planting around it. So far, I have hostas in one corner, want to plant columbines in another corner but if they don't bloom long may put those in a middle spot, have a pink bleeding heart for one corner, and white daffodils, virgine blue bells, and 3 crocus bulbs for one area maybe a middle spot since I'm just putting a few back of each. I would love astible in one corner but don't have those yet. Any other suggestions for the other 3 sides?

does anyone have the giant spider lily Queen Emma (Crinum augustum) i need to find 3 bulbs for the garden

Thanks for the compliment Mindy. I have Columbines but haven't had them long enough to really know much yet. I know I got a ton of seeds, but they haven't rebloomed. Mine only grow about 1-2 ft tall and are kinda boring when they don't have flowers. For your shade garden, maybe some flowering succulents around the rock, like Ice Plant or Baby Sunrose. Or some Showy Stonecrop.. they get a little taller..

I love my sedums they grow and look great everywhere.
