Good for you Cindy, showing that "jerk" he wasn't keeping your bulbs. I'm surprised the sherriff went out of his way for you, good man. Around here I think they might think I'm a little crazy ( well crazier). Hope all will be OK for your daughter's MIL.

Jaye, doctor's office called about bone scan on DH. Told us nothing really new, has arthritis, and did say he has a start of scoliosis. I guess when we go in we can ask more questions. My son has scoliosis, but he is having an MRI on his right shoulder & back and then we will know for sure. Getting old isn't good!

Looked up angel wing begonia, another name is Cane. I'm more anxious than ever now to it to take root.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

today is day 23 smoke free. patting myself on the back

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Here is a pat on the back from me too...23 days is great !!!! You've done it!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

You all keep talking about "Angel Wing" begonia. When my grandmother passed away in"79" my grandfather gave me her's. It was in a 5 gallon bucket and was about 6 feet tall. Over the years I've moved and had cut the thing back and given my friends cuttings. Right now I have about 6 different pots of this plant. They have been outside all summer and seem to really enjoy it. I will have to bring it in as it starts getting cold and I'm affraid that with the heat (mom has insert fireplace and keeps the house way too hot) it will dying. Here are the 2 best looking ones.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

This one you can see some little red flowers. In the past they were always a pale pink, but then I always had the plant indoors. This is my first time putting them outside.

Cindy, those are beautiful plants! I remember my MIL had a really pretty one like that. Thanks for posting pictures of them.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yup Cindy - them be the ones! I have a Lot of trouble finding this particular plant.
I finally got a cutting from a DG friend in Calgary. I cut it back cuz I want to send a cutting to another DG'er who's waiting patiently lol
I'll just Bet that they like it outside in "the other CA" lol They sure would like the hot summers in Winnipeg, but there isn't a hot enuff summer here in Calgary, CA to make them happy........ or maybe there is - we had as hot a summer as Winnipeg, but it's not that humid here.

Jaye Tell Mr. Kel he is very talented a butterfly house is wonderful idea to bird house and them.. You have so much to be proud of him and him proud of you.. blessings.

thinking of you all.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi Jaye - yes, tell Kel he's a talented painter, and builder! I love the job he did on the Monarch butterfly! Other than the Blue one (can't remember it's name), I like Monarchs the best!

Raleigh, NC

OK - why was I thinking something bad had happened to Rick - are he and you just split up? he's being ugly about it? good you got the sheriff, Cindy. ya can't mess with US mail.

editted to add - sorry to hear that with your sis's MIL.

and having severe plant envy with those begonias!

Good for you girl... I hope now he realizes its a federal offense to tamper with the mail.. LOL I love your sheriff. .
Hoping your daughters MIL pulls through..

Guess Rick got a surprise didn't he?!?!?
Those Begonia are incredible!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Bonnie, I left Rick back in May when I found out he was looking at porn online. He has been a horriable person every since I left. I forgot some things and he won't let me have them. I knew that I could get my bulbs but the other stuff i don't care about. He can keep them and stick them where the sun don't shine, lol!!!!

To those of you who do not know. My daughter's MIL is dying from cancer. She will not be pulling out of it. She has stopped chemo because she is tired of being sick and she is ready for the Good Lord to take her home. So it is just a matter of time and I'm thinking it will be soon. Her sleeping like this is not a good sign.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

awwwww Cindy - so sorry to hear about your DD's MIL.
Well, if she's ready for the Good Lord to take her home, then actually I think it's a good sign she's sleeping. She's very tired, and with Him she'll get the rest she so richly deserves after this sickness has dragged her down.
It's hard for everyone around her to be ready, but she definitely is!
My thoughts and prayers are with all who love her, and will miss her.

Thank you all so much for the compliments! Kel truly is overjoyed that it's well received. Thank God Tamara has it now, if not, he will be wearing that house around his neck!!!

If only minimal help is offered, kinda said a lot about that person, huh Susan? Guess we'll always facing people who we doubt are of the human race :( My Lola shows more compassion...

Congratulations on 23 days, Sistah Kathy!!! You're already a great cook.. now you'll be one amazing cook having all your tastes buds intact!

That should tell you to take a nice break Judy!! Clean oven? Kel does that well!!

Donna, you'll be enjoying the real Fall in Ohio!!! Not hurricanes or brown leaves!

That's a smart move Cindy. Yep, I agree with Bonnie. Don't mess with US Mail, it's a federal offence.
It's beautiful that your DD's MIL has made her peace with God. Now we'll be praying for strength for her family.

Pegi, getting old in this period is actually considered lucky. The medical field is so advance that there are more treatments and cures for almost everything.
Keep us posted please.

I knew I had taken a pic of my variegated cane begonia. Here it is... sad that I didn't overwinter it!
Notice the leaves... lance like and spotty!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye, it was really good! They also made these rum punches that we spent too much on; the ginger one was wonderful. Then there was the Scotch Bonnet pepper sauce that would really light you up, but had a wonderful flavor under the heat.

We don’t have much to write home about food wise in Olympia; there is a really good Italian restaurant, but it’s expensive; but Seattle and Portland both have some good food. Seattle is about an hour away and Portland is about two hours.

Cool butterfly house; way to go Kel!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

23 days!! wow - that's fabulous, Kathy! You've broken through a few barriers now! ^_^

Jaye - is that a trailing begonia? It's very pretty!

Well, Bob's gotten a video from Roger's, so guess I'd better go see it. It's called 17 Again, with ZacEfron - he looks cute!

~Susan~

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Trailing? Funny you should say that Susan. Half would flop.. half would stay upright!!! The stems are not as tender as the box store begonias.
Well I'll be, I thought it's a cane begonia on account of the stems and also the leaves. Lance like with serrated edges, huge and long.
So.. this is trailing begonia then? Thanks for correcting me.

Laura, I'm glad you are quite adventurous when it comes to trying out foods. Have you tried Ethiopian? Kel says that's gonna be our next sampling ground!

I'm starting to hurt all over again. My fault. Did too much in the garden today. So, I'll just take some Advil and head for bed.

Linda, if you're lurking.. hope it's a better day for you today.

Love y'all!! Good night!!

P.S. Can one get too much gas from eating watermelon?

Whats everyone up to today?

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Jaye, Kel did really good on that house! By the way we saw the sign for Tabor City when we were on Highway 17. We turned left and that sign was to the right. It is chilly here this morning. Didn't sleep well last night and I feel like I moved 10 yards of mulch in my sleep! Alas I am not a good traveler.

Everyone have a fun day.

Juanita

Good morning! Good morning! Groan.........
Think I spent my night in the bathroom... flushing myself out.. after all that watermelon fest.

Coffee.. oh yes please.

Judy, what's your style of cleaning? Do you put some music on and do some fancy footwork when cleaning? You're such and upbeat person, and that's how I visualized you doing. No regular housewife you are!!

Juanita, you should have called!! Would love to give you a hug!!!

Crissy, good luck and be safe!! Your chair will still be here when you return! AND have FUN!! Make good memories too!

So happy for you LK. Yours will continue to bloom through November, whereas I have to start cutting mine down starting now. If not the task will overwhelm me if waited later.
Did you sit under those flowers last night to savour the fragrance??
Never met an ugly brug.. even the NOIDs.

Deborah, haven't seen you for a few. Please tell me you're okay. Ready for the big game against LSU?
We're sistahs right, no matter what the outcome? Know that I love you and miss you!!

Maid M.. hope today sees you ever so cheerful and an easy time with your gardening committee.

Cookie, you set the goal at a realistic number, and Lord decides to double it!! I pray you get more before the 3rd.

Sis Kathy.. you're up?

Gotta go into town so I'll see you all later!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Twyla, how's the swelling today?

Ok.. I'm off!

Glenview, IL

Well hiya Jaye!

LOL, Depends on what kind of cleaning. This has been a music/slash TV backround, kind of cleaning.
I get involved in many different things in one room. lol, a dusting can lead to total redocarating of a room!
ROFLOL, took your advise and worked bottom up, still manged to forget a few places...

oh hum, decided to forgo morning cleaning and take a run to Michaels...only taking a certain amount of cahs, lol can't get into too much trouble that way.

Linda Kay, wow..The Pink and White Brug is gorgeous..Do they have a pretty scent as well?

OK question time. I got a brug, that is still in pot, didn't do very well, but I think it probably needs to be in more sunlight.
Anyway, it gets super cold, should i bring it indoors for winter, it's really a tropical plant right?

ok...running, not walking to Michaels.
See you later.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those brugs smell so pretty. The pink one smells like a sweet baby powder, and the white one is almost like a sweet lemon meringue pie! Even hubby had to smell them on the way to work this morning! You can smell them from about 30 feet away.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

on my way to the store. all this talk about watermelon has my mouth watering

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Kathy, congrats on quitting smoking! It's the hardest thing you'll ever do!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hehehehe.. the hardest thing she'll ever do is be on a diet!!!
Hi there Audrey!

Judy, bring in the brug if temp drops below 50 outside. You can cut it back and keep it in dormancy inside. But do water once a week, to keep it from drying out. Don't worry if all the leaves shed. That's normal.
Try to root the cuttings. They do well in water.

LK, Kelvin loves to sit for a spell next to Serendipity growing in front of his workshop. He says there must be a way to distill the fragrance!!

Eat more watermelon for me Sis!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

eating watermelon right now. you're right, the hardest thing i've ever done is sticking to this fat free diet. giving up cigs. was easy

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Cindy,So sorry about your daughters mil. so happy shes saved. Cindy sorry about the bum you had i have had a couple really rotten ones..phsyco'si spelled that wrong for sure sorry.

everyone be well many blessings, happiness always.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, watermelon is 90% water, no wonder it ran through you! LOL
Kathy, so glad you put the ciggies down. It is a hard habit to stop.
Twyla, I don't think I could have 20 teeth pulled all at once! OUCH! I do hope the dentist put you on some antibiotics? Take care.
LK

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hey peoples!
Taking a few moments out to say "HI"
Jaye - not a correction, on the Begonias lol silly girl! Trailing is what the store called it. I guess, until they get longer, the new ones stick straight up ^_^ Like us, they bend with age lol

Twyla - 20 teeth???? youch! I thought it was bad when they filled/drilled 12 of mine!

Well, back to work!! Physicians are starting to ask why things aren't done as quickly as they used to be (like DUH!!!)
