Later everyone,
I better get busy if I want to get done.
I'll try to find ya after dark or my first break whatever comes first.
a hello thread
ok brb...gotta dig a brugmansia and three spider plants out of the ground....uhg...and apparently my bears breetches....I'll be in and out cuase I don't shut this thing down!
I'm Sharon. Empty nester. Still haven't figured out how my daughter (lovely only child) could be approaching 30 in a few months. Widowed twice so "on hold" in that dept for a while. Animal lover. Right now I only have 2 cats but have had dogs and horses through the years.
Downsized 5 years ago and have a yard with sunny spots for the first time in decades. Immensely enjoying building all of the gardens. I have two young nephews, 3 and 5, that are my trusty assistants in the garden. Just lost my overseer this week, a 13 year old black lab. I miss her a lot but it was definitely her time. Probably snacking on doggy heaven's echinaceas and napping in day lilies, like she did here. :)
I haven't met a plant yet that I didn't like. Impossible for me to throw away babies when thinning plants. I have to get someone else to do it if I can't find them homes.
So nice to read a bit about everyone else. You are 'family' in a way so thanks for taking the time to write a bit. I enjoyed reading it. :)

Rie, this is a lovely idea. Greetings to you all, Pam, Trina, Lainymay, Julie and Sharon.
Sharon, I think we all feel your sadness over the very new loss of your garden friend and pet. But you have hit the nail squarely when you say that this is family and what better way to ponder our emotions than to share with those of like mind and interest, ya know...family. Grin....Moon
Thanks, Moon
~Sharon
exactly Jean! ok I have wrestled the last 3 remaining spider plants out of my garden...holy cow are they big
Sharon I uderstand completely about the not being able to throw plants away...If you've read any of our other posts you definately understand
What am I going to do when all these have their babies?
and just think I have 9 more just like these 3
I hope you find homes for them, trina. I saw your pic of the "casts of thousands." Well, one thousand anyhow. I would volunteer to help but due to allergies, my plants need to live outside. :( It's not the plants or the flowers so much as the microscopic things that live in the fertile dirt that do me in. It looked like most were of the sort that needed indoor wintering. However, if you have any thing in the "outside all year" category, I can help with those. Would cover packing and postage for you... Let me know by Dmail if I can help.
~Sharon
i wish my brugie was as good looking as yours trina. mine looks so pitafull. i have it in the ground and plan to leave it there. too big of a tuber to dig up. but only about 2 ft tall.
hubby is putting plastic on greenhouse while home for me. he is stationed out of town but got to come home for 4 days the holiday. will leave out tuesday morning. then you all will have a weepy rie to comfort.
i cant throw baby plants away either. i am over run with 4 o clocks but keep moving them. found a new bed for them since they can have it. was trying to make a raised bed out of a certain place but found out recently poison oak lives there and i am highly allegic. well cant be near it so figure will throw seeds in there and let them have the spot.
the bees are buzzing up a storm today i noticed. dont want winter yet. sheesh not ready for it.
SORRY for your loss of a bet furry friend. i know the feeling and it never lessens . i have several and one old one it will kill me when he goes. had him almost 14 years now. crying for you.
hugs all.
Yes I do have a few that can winter outside...one called primula acaulis-danova mix
Primrose i guess you'd call it and a few others too....I believe there are also some hardy mums in the mix...
Slowly getting through them too many to remember what everything is!
As for my brug...its wilting...its wilting...shock from being pulled out of the ground...it will can recover
(((Hugs imzadi))) and thanks. She was a very sweet and good dog. Never did a mean thing to another living being in her entire life. She led a happy full life. There was a sudden rupture internally and we were at the vet within an hour so even that last day was mostly enjoyment for her. Best of luck with your crew. Enjoy your older one in his golden years. The ultimate responsibility of pet ownership (doing the right thing at the right time) sucks but it's small compared to the rest of the time spent with these dear ones.
~Sharon
Both sound lovely, trina. I'm sure I have room for them. If not, I'll make room! ;)
~Sharon
exactly...I took my little chupacabra to the vet yesterday...she was mad at me all day, kept attacking the plants, but she's still my baby and just like my children they need their checkups and their shots...but it's a good thing I did take her....found out she's a LOT younger than what everyone told my grandmother she was!
Here she is
So cute! Enjoy her!

darn! started a reply and lost it!
Hi Sharon! Sorry to hear about the loss of your buddy. When my beloved cockapoo Phoebe died, oh so long ago, she came to me in a dream and told me she was frolicking with all the other dogs in the meadows. Then she licked my face. So whenever I hear of a beloved pet going to the great beyond, that's what I think of.
Trina, did you have blooms on that brug? It looks like mine. I have 1 stick that Y'd and 1 that hasn't yet. Gotta get one of those many teens to move that bad boy in the house for you!
nope out of 5 only 1 bloomed, but both daturas bloomed like the dickens!
i have better luck with dats then i do brugs . i love them and so does hubby so its cool. brugs just dont like me wont even bloom
Smiley -- Did you say you have a jungle of tiger lilies? Are they real tiger lilies? I would love love love to have a tiger lily. I have never seen them in any store around here.
I remember as a kid and coming home from school and seeing that plant by the front door. I just couldn't resist knocking off the seeds! I have a computer photo of one in my bathroom. Nice memory.
My garden is tiny tiny and I can't think of anything that would be a good item to trade. I have some seeds of many ordinary flowers if you are interested. Let me know! Thanks.
what kind of flowers? Venice
Trina, are you asking about my seeds?
of course venice, especially if they make more flowers!...I'm starting to win my battle yeah...I can almost see the light at the end of the pots!
Hold on. I am making a list.
ok...i'm working on getting what I gave left all in one spot, so i know how many more pots I need....well first i'm eating and then i'm doing that...LOL
These are my seeds.
This year
lamb’s ear
blue ageratum
short marigolds, many yellow, a little darker yellow, orange
moss roses, orange, multi-color
blue ageratum
coneflower, pink
Last year
Rudbeckia triloba
Tall multi-color zinnias, 3’ tall
Maybe
autumn fire sedum – beginning to bloom, don’t know how to save seeds
blackie sweet potato vine (root in fall)
daylily seed pod – do I need to put one of those bags over it?
Clematis – seed pod is still a little green
pink fountain gaura – working on them, hard to find
clematis? oh what kind? mine all died after i got them planted thanks to the neighbors dog!
Don't know! I picked up 2 seed pods from a plant at Lowe's so I don't know what kind it is. My neighbor has a plant but I keep looking for seed pods but none yet. I would have to go over there and look at hers again to know what color it is.
Venice, I have never seen a seed pod on my clematis. Maybe mine die to fast. I posted pic of what it does somewhere. Dies from bottom up or at least everything turns brown and dries up but top stayed green and flowered. Really wierd.
thats because you need to keep the root part shaded...
I was all proud of myself, cause I got everything dug out of my garden I was supposed too, the brug, all 9 spider plants...sat down to eat something...looked over at the dining room table at my pretty purple shamrock
and went %%^^^ I forgot the other shamrocks....and who knew those things multiplied so fast...I only planted 12 and now have close to 75 shamrock bulbs
and just when I thought I was winning the battle!!!
Venice, I think the tiger lilies I have are considered ditch lilies?? Not true lilies, more like a daylily. I'll search around and see if I have any pics here, they're done blooming now.
It is covered with mulch, and wasn't in full sun.
Oh and my weed is starting to open I can see a bit, looks kind of reddish.
What will it be??????
Break over back to the mowing.
Hi Ho Hi Ho its off to mow I go
Later
before her dogs dug them up and ate them, I had to plant some stuff around them...JJ...oh well part of the fun of gardening...live and learn...and laugh!
lol JJ
Had to go look at clematis. It is starting to get new leaves on it and ready to bloom again.
But reason I looked was for seed pods. Are they the little fuzzy things with a little white thing at the end?
Now don't fall off chair laughing.
urhg
they do turn fuzzy as they go on so they can blow on the wind.
