ROSEMARY,BASIL AND FOOTLESS MAKES THREE

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I never have wildlife on my patio except for mostly bumble bees. This is the first time I have seen a dragonfly. He is really hard to see. He is on a hosta leaf pointing up.

Flowers I have no idea, if you find it let me know. Maybe only for subs

Venice I see it . I don't think I've seen one all year.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Moon, talking about critters -- Bob is one of your cats. He looks so comfy there. I think you have 2 more cats. Have you posted a photo of them?

Also, your little green frog is so cute and very pretty.

Kitty can be so graceful while she is sleeping!

ok so let me get this straight between us the paid subscribers (no offense intended to the unsubs) and the advertisers, they get enough money to run the site,

but if you actually want to get into the site you have to block the advertisers becuase they mess things up or direct you to obscene sites

but because we "Chat" too much we're being kicked out of here to and reminded that we have a plant id forum...

well the people on that forum are rude and most of the time never answer you.

So we are being directed to another part of the site which only subscribers can go to because we "Chat" which is the whole point of the website in the first place

because it seems like they don't want the subs and unsubs speaking to each other

so does that pretty much sum things up?

Hello everyone.

Sending Chezca a hardy welcome!

Jjsgramma, gorgeous place you are taking care of. Loved viewing those picture's!

Dave, will enjoy the pic's from your voyage to Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park today!

Hi Trina, not all the people who respond on the Plant and Tree I.D. forum are rude.........;-)

Venice, I now have a "Wilty" too;-( Should have tried to save my plant sooner...look's like it's too late now though!

Jean, leave me bread crumb's on where to find you guy's next if I get lost;-) Don't know what I would do without you here.

Heading back to the kitchen for a while, cooking for a family get together tomorrow.

Rachel, what plant is going to the fairies soon?

If any ad is causing problems or directing you to an obscene site, please use the "Contact us" link at the bottom of every page of our site to reach our admin team. Please describe what the ad was for, and where it was located. The ads are generally home/garden related, or geared toward the demographics of people who use our site. We take a strong stance against any obscene sites, and our sales team is also very sensitive about ads that are overly obtrusive.

I'm sorry you've had that experience, but if you have specific concerns we encourage you to use the same link I referred to above to contact us. We can't make everyone be friendly, but we do expect our members to be civil to one another.

Not at all. We're really not in a "we" and "they" situation--as admins, we're also members here ;o) We offer about 50 forums that are free to all members to use. We have found the "chat' type forums can sometimes get personal, so they're a little more private (but with over 7,000 subscribers able to read what you post in them, we don't encourage people to divulge deep, dark secrets.)

We've also found that by reserving the chat-type forums for subscribing members, the participants tend to be a little more respectful of each other. Not always, but generally speaking, they don't engage in flame wars or deliberately offend or provoke one another. The knowledge that such behavior can lead to a revoked membership tends to carry a little more weight when you've paid for the access.

That said, we don't pressure anyone to subscribe. But we do try to keep each forum relatively on-topic (with the necessary latitude, given that we're dealing with over 450,000 members.)

hey that worked! didn't solve anything but that was better than the response I got when I did push the "Contact Us" link

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

ok gotta a stumper of a plant here and not my coleus this time...some kind of shrub blooms a flaming orange/coral color in spring...but feels weird wen its in leaf

I don't show any notes at our helpdesk from you; would you mind trying again? And I'm afraid an ID request buried under 130 other posts (and counting) is probably not going to get much attention. I'd encourage you to start a thread...in the ID forum ;o)

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

if anyone's on they usually get back to me...I will try the Contact us button again....earlier today it would send me over to a blank page....I shut the ads off but it doesn't seem to help with the being "bounced" around but at least now it bounces me to other parts of DG which that I don't mind

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Are they saying we can go over to the Plant and Tree ID?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Hey I actually got the contact us button to work....doing the happy dance!
No he said he thought my pic of my unidentified shrub might get lost in all these posts and to start a new thread to have a better chance of getting it identified

Well here's a question. Terry, where can non subscribers and subscribers go to have a chatty / silly (yet educational and often plant related) forum and be able to post pictures? Because we'd love to get to a place we can stay and not irritate anyone, but we simply must have our pictures and we want everyone to be able to join in. I figure you are the best person to ask because you know this website far better than any of us. SO, what do ya think?

Trina, if you ever have a thread that's not being answered you can always bump it back to the top of the list by adding a post. Even if the post just says "Hellooooo...is there anybody out there???" :)

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I do that at 3 am when I can't sleep..hence the stupid poem under the heading "Who am I" what can I say I have issues

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi all, back home again. Good news on Cat JJs, THanks.
No Venice, Terry suggested Trina start a post on Plant ID to get her Croton ID'ed

Trina Croton is the common name I believe, Codiaeum variegatum is the genus and species
Here is a link to a bunch of pictures so you can sift through at your leisure for the variety

http://images.google.com/images?q=codiaeum%20variegatum&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I have some croton in pots at the house But I ain't never seen one grow 8' tall and thrive and bud out in winter here....but I will check

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi Ican, how was the fair? Good Question....

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

dang it, now you made me want more plants Moon...thanks alot...my hubby's gonna want talk to you...LOL

LOL trina! I think we all have some sort of issue or we wouldn't get along so well :)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Here ya go Trina...by the way, in the ground the croton will get up to 10 ft tall.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Ican, dear, you do have a way of cutting to the chase....grin

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

hhhmmmm...10 feet huh? I'll keep that in mind!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I was thinking that might a nice plant to have. Then I saw it is for zones 10-11. So that's that!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

icanfindroom, I can only offer you the chat forums for chat threads. On-topic plant related posts are always welcome in other appropriate forums.

None of the chat forums are open to non-subscribers, for the reasons I listed above.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

thanks for trying but these things get huge multipetaled upward facing flowers and they start flowering before the snows eve gone....and the leaves feel like sandpaper. they are dark green nderneath a greyish fuzz stuff that feels like sandpaper...but if you rub it completely off the green is actually shiny like a holly

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

we thought at first maybe a mountain laurel or another form of holly, it's definately a show stopper in spring

The fair...sigh...didn't make it. Went to leave and went looking for my cat so I didn't shut him in the office or the closet. Couldn't find him. Even went around with cat treats, the way he likes to eat that's always a ringer. No cat. Then it occurred to me I had gone outside last night after it was dark. I thought "the boys" were asleep and probably just barely closed the door. My cat sometimes likes to open the door and creep out but usually only to the front steps. Also my dog usually stops him.
I went around the corner to get a picture of the moon which was looking fabulous (will post it next, bad picture because I didn't stabilize my hands). Anyway he must have snuck out and I didn't see him because he's basically black and it was pretty dark. Probably walked right by him hiding under the BBQ. I'm pretty sure that's what happened because 10 min. before that he was sitting on my lap. I only ran a couple of errands close by and stuck around home to see if he came back or if someone called. No luck. Blasted cat is spoiled rotten but he takes off. Bah! I told a friend if he doesn't turn up I'm getting another dog. My dog never takes off, even if I have the gate open. My cat's micro-chipped and has tags so we'll see.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I had the evil chupacabra microchipped today...so she ate my roses to get even...everyone thinks she's soooo cute but I will catch a picture of her in evil mode eventually!

I'm sorry it just doesn't make sense to me that pics/chat/and non subscribers & subscribers can't get together. Seems our little thread doesn't quite fit anywhere. Our pictures are on topic for what we're discussing which is a bit of everything. Onesie twosie threads would drive us all mad (ok we sort of already are but you know what I mean).

And not to cause problems but why are their threads that chat and are longer that are allowed to exist peacefully while we are getting in trouble? Do we need to mention mint or basil at the end of each post & post some pictures of one of the two every so often to stay on topic & that would be o.k.? Not trying to be a smart alack or anything, just trying to figure what makes our threads inappropriate when others are considered all right.

LOL again trina! I thought for sure you'd get your evil shot today.
Here's the moon pic that let my evil cat get away.

Thumbnail by icanfindroom

Actually the moon looked way cooler than that picture, you could see the "rabbit" on it and everything.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Ican, sorry about your kitty...darn cat. I like the moon 8-)

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

lol Ican...

is there a difference between purple ruffles basil, and just purple basil?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

My moon pic didn't look all that great! but its on there

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yup....ruffles
