Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Deb!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I love eggs. I USED to love eggs.

Thomaston, CT

Happy anniversary, Jen---hope hubby is better soon---and Happy birthday, Bill. Victor, that's a lovely sillouette of your son---why do the boys always get those long lashes!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yeah long lashes on boys so not fair!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, all, for the compliments on my pics of the ferris wheel. No, I did not get a chance to ride it. Too busy doing other things there.

That's great on the stimulus suckers! Glad to see justice being served.

Victor, so awful about the chicks! A lot about factory farming is awful. You don't want to know how pigs are raised on a factory farm. Just sickening! I watched the video. Very sad. I will be emailing others about this. If one doesn't want to go to a vegan diet, then they can buy from local, small farmers who don't do this kind of thing.

Happy anniversary, Jen! I hope your DH is feeling 'ship shape' soon!

Victor, nice pic of your son! Very artistic!

Oh, speaking of cats and bird feeders, here's an article from the most recent Audobon Magazine that I think is very important. It's a bit long, but I think it's very informative and very, very important. http://audubonmagazine.org/incite/incite0909.html

Thanks ladies! Yes, most women go crazy when they see his lashes. I joke that we get a breeze when he blinks.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Beautiful pictures Karen.
Happy anniversary & get well wishes Jen
Victor- not sure how to respond. You grossed me out then "cuted" me out.

East Bridgewater, MA

Victor, with the cooler weather coming in, thunderstorms and the accompanying lightning will be less likely; I want to thank you for this summer's excellent photos of lightning bolts, and please don't be shy about posting more of them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who enjoys the stunning images.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks - I love shooting lightning.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I tried it but I didn’t like it, all I could think about is the one that’s over my head that’s going to ZAP me into a little charcoal briquette, quite unsettling actually…

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

True. Actually, someone was killed recently by a strike inside his window.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Great silhouette pic Victor. There will be payback I'm sure for the UPS scam when your son is bigger than you tee. wha if you don't tell people when your birthday is how do you get lots of presents? I live for presents. Well actually I live for dahlias but nextly for presents. My DH is thirdly at the moment cuz last night he said the dahlias in my new dahlia patch are 'too tall'. I sprayed him with the hose and ran away real fast ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, dnut. I'm sure he will figure it out soon.

WC - having the Mrs. stand nearby with a wire attached helps.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Bad Victor! Bad! (lol)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

ok i'll come clean - my b-day is the same day as one of my mothers sister a favorite aunt :)

trust me i do not really have a b-day it is a week long celebration because it only happens once a year - just ask my wife :)

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Ha Ha! So you were born on Lent? lol

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

lent? Is that what collects in belly buttons?

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

LOL!

South Hamilton, MA

I was born in Lent, not saying what yr by now. But a special birthday is always fun. DH & I take each other out to dinner on our birthdays which are 10 days apart so he can remember it. 3 daughters born in April was expensive.

I received a gift at work yesterday, it is a resin "rubber garden boot". It is about 1 dahlia foot tall and a half a dahlia foot wide, with a drainage hole in the bottom. The opening might be 4x3 inches. Any ideas of what I could plant in it?
At first I thought I would use it as a vase until I saw the drainage hole. I guess I could do anything as I would a normal pot, it's just taller than anything I've planted before.

Thomaston, CT

Papyrus? I've seen some very cool arrangements with it, & it sort of goes with the water theme of the boot.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Window screen over the hole & fill with builders' sand mixed with a wee bit of potting soil: perfect for a Lewisia.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Great idea Katye!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

thanks to both of you, I'll check them out

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Or any other short gal?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I'd wear it if it had sequins.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'd like to wear it upside-down and backwards. ^_^

This is cool - well-known websites when they first came online. I was on Yahoo in '94! I went to a lecture at the Verizon bldg in Manhattan when the we was brand spanking new. Took forever to load, but Yahoo was one of the few sites up and running. I also bought from Amazon in '95, their first year!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I remember wondering what on earth they were going to use youtube for. Or how Amazon could survive without a warehouse. And what ever happened to Prodigy?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I happened to come across this website during a Google search and found it very interesting. I could spend hours looking stuff up on here.

Well hubby and I got in our anniversary dinner tonight. A steak place that was recommended by a friend who used to be a butcher(he would know good steak)
It was OUTSTANDING!!! Not bad prices either, found our new fav.
Hubby had a bone in filet(never had that before) and I had a sirloin strip(encrusted with a burgandy glaze). Kobe beef sliders for appetizer...man was that good!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds nice. Glad you had a good time. What carnivores!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Oh yeah!!!!

There's plenty of room for all God's creatures.... right next to the mashed potatoes!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

we all had mashed potatoes with out b-day dinner tonight as well - they were laced with rosemary, very good - and we were carnivores as well fil and i had filet's over spinach and portobellos - while the lady's and there credit card had beef tornadoes - which is a small fillet sitting on a seasoned tomato with a hollandaise like sauce and italian bacon - wife could only eat one of them since she ordered thin crusted pizza for an appetizer and has 2 pieces - now i have lunch!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)
