Very nice site, Jen. I pray we do continue to remember this tragedy.

If you are not familiar with Ron Bucca - NYFD Fire Marshal, who died in the towers, look into his story. It is beyond incredible.

There's a lot of real interesting stories on that site.

Here's another name listing by alphabetical order.

I've never heard iris planting described that way, IrisMA. That's the best way I've heard yet. Will do that this weekend, as I have about a dozen TBI's to plant. BTW, I've never done a winter mulch on mine and didn't know that I should. Do you do that after the ground freezes?

ROTFLMAO, Cousin Nut, about the 'naked iris bums'. OMG, but you are too funny!!!!!!!!!

Such a tragic thing from that day back in 2001. I will never forget, though I sometimes wish I could. It's something I hate remembering, but something we shouldn't forget.

With luck after the ground freezes so that part won't thaw again. Of course if you have snow cover beforehand like we did last yr. this is no problem. Concentrate on the light mulch on new plantings. We use pine needles but salt marsh hay is good, but a light covering as you don't want voles using it as cover. We are lucky here as no moles to dig runs. I don't think they stop at the county line, but except for the star nosed mole which lives in the swamp there are none in this part of Essex county.

Real busy for a few daysand haven't been on line. I appreciate all the condolences about my tomatoes but it sure seems silly with 9/11 coming between my post and now.

Victor, it seems our country is exploding with movements that are intensely self-rightous while ignoring the facts to the contrary. Itis frightening, especially when one remembers that the second worst national tragedy we faced in the last 20 years was caused by Americans with the same level of crazy self-rightousness and paranoia. (Oklahoma City)

I hope we can behave as adults and not like incendiary mobs. But I really have my doubts

I have a new great-niece - Charlotte Kathleen, born at 5:06 pm today. Mom and baby are doing fine. Don't know if I can say the same for the almost 3yr old who is being supplanted. He is a corker! I am being polite.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

True, Dave. Sadly, I have believed for quite some time that the next 9/11 scale incident that we are hit by will be done by our own citizens.

Congrats, Jan!! Great news.

Congrats Jan. 3 yr old needs discussion on how grown up & fun to be a big brother. Luckily my big brother was 8 & proud of himself.

Congrats, Jan, on your newest edition! I bet you're proud.

I watched an interesting show tonight on CNBC called Marijuana, Inc., Inside America's Pot Industry. It's becoming a booming cash crop, especially in California.
