Ok, if you really are a witch, what is the witchiest thing you do?
HELP!!!!!
witchiest thing I do?other than grow things raise healthy kids and incorporate those principles into my everyday life? hhhhmmm...house cleansing rituals to get rid of negativity, light candles for the sick to help them get better
What are your house cleaning rituals? Does it make your cleaning better or faster or easier?
wrong kind of cleaning....its a spiritual cleansing of the house...pushes out built up negative that can gather around a house (especialy with 5 kids) sort of like what native americans would do
Do you burn herbs or plants and wave it around? Is there a chant that goes with it?
I have plenty of negativity where I live. Is there a site that has such information?

I use a smudge stick i make with my own herbs, a combination of cedar sage and lavendar, I wave it around, I burn a white candle to bring positive things, and a black one to dispell negativity, not so much a chant as a prayer sorta...like a mantra repeated over and over again
Do you burn the smudge stick? The only thing I have on a stem in basil, dried and fresh. I have common sage and lavendar leaves but just loose. Can I use some of what I have?
yes I burn them If I have them in sticks they are wrapped with common cotton thread....as for you burning them yes, use a heat resistant bowl, old fire king cook wear & dishes work well and you can pick them up cheap at almost any garage sale...if you want to get all fancy you can purchase a small cast iron cauldron from Azure Green online for about $8. but you will have to gently blow on it GENTLY occassionally to keep it lit if you use the herbs loose
Do you carry the smudge stick and candles from room to room? Can I do this or does a witch have to do it? By the way, it is hard to find black candles! I suppose just votives would do if I can find them.
Venice are you trying to bring Wilty/Stumpy back to life?
When I had a smaller house I would carry the candles from room to room. But now I just set one of each color in each room on a big plate and let them burn completely....and no a witch doesn't have to do it! If you shop online you can find mini tapers at the following sites
www.azuregreen.com or www.isis.com
and i am sure there are other places.
Most of us don't like the term witch because of the negative conotations attatched to it, but I figure why fear it make fun of it!!!
I consider myself a Tree-Hugging-Dirt-Worshipper
as with christianity and its different sects (i.e. baptist, catholic, pentacostal, etc.) there are just as many types of witches (even christian ones)
if you ever have any questions feel free to ask!
Trina, can I do that? Bring wilty/stumpy back to life? Surely you know of something to heal this poor plant!
Trina, how often do you cleanse your house? And how long do you stay in each room?

well if that just don't knock the ham off the hog!!!
Now that's got to be a mountain saying!!!
Venice, only a gardening expert could help wilty/stumpy (I assume this is a plant) as for cleansing..usually spring and fall...unless their has been some kind of turmoil in the home such as an ill family member or a death in the family, after a relationship ends, or in my case everytime after my 15 year old does something really stupid and the cops bring him home, and thats because he doesn't get that its hurting the other kids in this house so it creates an emotional inbalance in the house.....though the idea of just giving the other 4 baseball bats and letting them take him in the backyard to release their aggression towards him on him is starting to sound REALY good!
As for time depends on what type of ritual I write....and what the purpose is....my mother is 54 years old and been a practicing witch her entire life and yet she still has me write hers for her...and before you ask...my sister and I did NOT know that growing up...she insisted spirituality was a personal choice and a big decision, she believed that in order to make an informed decision, like anything else, you had to know what was out there, so we had to study each of the other religions, christianity, bhuddism, taoism, muslum, judaism, everything, before she would allow us to choose one.
No we cannot bring people, plants, or animals back from the dead!!!! LOL
flowers i love that....I used to work with a woman who would exclaim "well cut my legs off and call me shorty!" I couldn't use that one because I'm short, so it was just confusing to fellow Northerners.
Just heard that one on the Beverly Hillbillys and laughed. I love the old sayings too.
I have always liked "not enough room to sling a cat" brings up strange visuals and makes me wonder why you would feel the need to sling a cat in the first place...grin
moon that saying came from the real back woods mountain folk that after slinging the cat probably made vittals out of it for supper rofl
we say 'swing a cat' you can't swing a cat without hitting a gardener
hey its better than butter my butt and call me a biscuit!
LOL
You guys are hilarious!!! lol
coffe cup is empty and neighbor wants his hair cut, catch up with yall later. Its been fun! Have a great day!
Later Flowers
i am holding my tongue...LOL
The really scary one was when my grandma would get us ready for bed and pull off our shirts, she would say "Skin a rabbit"....always made me hope my dad and uncles wouldn't confuse us during hunting season....
Have a good day Flowers, don't nip any ears...grin
I have always liked "Oh my stars and garters"
Themoonhowl, what does that mean?
Oh my stars and garters?? I have no idea, my grandma and greataunts used to say it when they were startled or perplexed by something, and I have just always liked it....would be interesting to find the sources of old sayings like that.
Lynnie, won't that make it hard to type....grin
My great-aunts use to see "poopiesquat"
???
Such a very pretty little puppy!!
Too cute....so ferocious....grin
Hey Venice, what has you confused? Let me know and I will try to explain as best the hopping ADD mind I have will allow....grin
here's one for you...my grandmother would say this to my grandfather when she was mad at him.......Your father was a hampster and your mother smells of elderberries.....whats funny is YEARS later i heard it said on a Monty Python show!
How about "Shoot fire and save matches" or "fiddlesticks" or "chew nails and spit tacks" or "spit and 3 is nine"
I am very much a Python fan. Got DHJim the whole series on DVD for his birthday. He is a fan of the fish slapping dance.
Will you adobt me, Moon?
another morphed thread, huh? a gentleman that has since retired where I work (where I am now...) used to say "when pigs wear blue boots and fly". And when we'd say "see you tomorrow" he'd say "Good Lord willing and the creeks don't rise".
