So. Calif. Fall RU 2009
Louise: Thanks for yet another really fun get together and for opening up your home to all of us. I planted the Louisiana Iris today...thank you for those !
As usual, the food was spectacular and it was fun talking to the new members and seeing the "regulars". Bummer about Quyen and her tires/alighment. !
Sherry: We missed you !
Thanks again, Louise and Tony !
I really enjoyed the day and meeting everyone. I may have an idea for the Spring RU. Let me do some checking.
DP, I think those in your photo are, from right to left: Rodica, Rob & Sylvia, Louise, Marie
We enjoyed our day with all of you. Louise has a beautiful place and it was so great of her to let us enjoy a mini RU there. The misters really kept it cool for all of us. Came home with some plants and have been on the Internet looking up how to care for them all. Thanks again Louise. Did I mention the food was soooooo good! Thanks to all who took pictures.
Goodnight all, thanks for the memories.
Dear Weegy12.......................... I must underscore THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES and thanks for posting more photos. We so look forward to meeting you all again. Please pray for us as we leave for Seattle Tuesday.
Much love to all you precious DG'ers.
Sylvia and Rob
For anyone wondering why I am holding a rock in the group photos - written on the rock is the word "laugh." Louise and Tony have rocks all over the garden with positive messages like "serenity" "humility" etc. I think I might just take some "inspiration" from their idea. :-)
Kathleen, yes, I also loved all the rocks with their meaningful sayings. They also had some stacked rocks and I asked Tony for the meaning of them as I had seen this done on our trip to Oregon/Wash. I loved those stacked rocks and also took a picture to enjoy at home. Tony said that the rocks are a Zen thing, meaning "in the moment". Loved it.
Here is my pic.
Hey Donna, those stacks of rocks are also a "I have so little to do I'm just gonna sit here and stack rocks" thing.
I bought a stack of rocks! I know, it's silly, but I liked it. The rocks are stacked on a rod with a 'cap' rock that doesn't have a hole. It keeps them from being knocked over by critters and big boots. LOL
As long as you like it, that's all that matters !
I saw similar stacks made out of plastic rocks at Big Lots once...seemed sorta pointless. LOL
LOL Randy!
Kathleen, ours are glued together so they don't get knocked over! The stacked rocks also represent balance. By all means, put some meaningful words on your rocks, it really makes you think when you walk around the yard and see them.
Sylvia, yes, I do hope we can all get together again real soon.
I once again want to thank everyone who took the time to bring me plants and seeds, will be busy today potting and planting and cutting up parsley!
Great minds, huh Mike?!!?
And thank you for the irises, ginger, and hyacinths, Louise! We were busy around the pond yesterday. The canna from DP will replace the droopy tree that's falling into the pond - yeah!! And hopefully the creeping jenny from Donna will take and last for a while longer this time - there were lots of good sized pieces and I was able to spread them around.
Looking forward to the cooler weather so things can get settled in - then it's the long wait for spring to see the results!
A great time was had by all yesterday!! I think everyone who left or stayed had a smile on their face. what more can one ask inlife, Great Food, Great Plants and best of all Great Friends!!
Amen to that, Marie! I love the stacked rocks, I'm going to have to keep a running log of all the great ideas I see. I have a few rocks I bought with sayings on them, but like the ones better that are "home made". I'm still smiling about the great time we had, and meeting such nice people. Thanks for some great memories.
Kathleen, you could make some wonderful totems for your garden out of clay.....
