*snif*...I can't make it this year...again!! Actually, I will be at the KY RU the middle of Sept...then I hope to go to the RU in Ashville, NC the next week end...then to UTAH on Sept. 27th...for a few days with a friend in St. george....then home by Oct 1st...

My DH has to work and since we will be just returning from our vacation, I don't think they would like him asking to take off another Sat. If he wasn't working, he'd be chasing little white balls with Quyen's DH. lol

My Dillan will be 8 on Oct. 31st. BTW many years ago, lets see that would be about 38 years ago I used to live in Fountain Valley. Also in the late 50's and early 60's spent a lot of time on the beach at H.B. At one point in time some 20+ years ago my oldest son lived in an apt over Jack's surf shop, he was big into surfing at that time. Still miss that Swedish Smorgasbord Restaurant that used to be in H.B. They had the best Limpa Bread.

Sylvia, it's a small world isn't it. We moved to HB in the mid 80's and love it here. Have you seen what they have done to Jack's surf shop? The whole downtown HB has been modernized, but Jacks is still there in all it's glory.

ps...Jo, I know you would like to be the REAL roadrunner to be able to run across the country to all of the RU's. lol Hopefully you can make our RU in the spring. We will really miss you though this year. :-(

Ha! About 38 years ago I used to make beach clothing and some of it ended up at Jack's....

OK...I have $53.00 credit coming from Southwest Airlines./..that is earmarked for the spring RU./..especially since the USS Nimitz will be in port then...barring any complications.

When I went East in June I only visited my son and DIL 2 days.... it only fair that I impose...er...honor....them with my presence again for a week this fall....Yea...they will be SOOOO happy!! That it just happens to be the same time as the KY RU...is that my fault??

I figured you were back east visiting family and friends, but I did miss seeing you around. Even worse, I still feel bad that I didn't get a chance to meet you last Spring when you were out here for a visit.
We'd better stay in better touch! LOL! The visual of RR actually running across country is making me laugh!
Does everyone remember Jacks at HB? Or is it only those of us who have been here for a long time. I really hate the "gentrification" of HB. Worse yet, now they are doing the same thing to O'side. Sigh.
I will miss seeing everyone else, still. So you all have a great time! I want to see photos!

Kathleen, I also sent Roberta and Mark an email tell them about the RU. I also sent one to Loyd, Kanita. Who else are we missing from all the RU's at Don's?

The food and company can't be beat. You all really should try to attend! We're So. Californians! We're used to having to drive to get places! I really wish I could be in two places at once.
I have some purple iris' that Kanita shared with us so generously, that are in pots. Since I planted several (which bloomed), I'd like to share the wealth. If someone from this area is attending, maybe they could hitch a ride for someone attending the RU?
Just a thought.

SW; The 26th is my DGDs birthday. The original plan was that she'd be going to Disneyland for her birthday with her Aunt. Now that is not certain. If that doesn't happen, they plan to have her birthday party on the 26th. I can't miss her 6th, (or any of the other ones for that matter!!!)

I may not know for sure what's gonna happen for a couple of weeks.

Drat! You are right though, DP, you can't ever get those birthdays and special moments back.
Still hope to see you while we are down in O'side.

Unfortunately I won't make it to this RU...I mapquested it and it's a two hour drive for me...what a shame, I was really looking forward to seeing you all again! : (

Hi! Everybody!! Loida may not be able to make the RU this year but I will be there for sure. It is the same day that my dad and his girlfriend are moving but I can help them out the day before. I can hardly wait until I see the plant thread...LOL!! I had gardening friends over one day last week and they definitely agreed with me that I need more space. I don't know if I told you but Loida and I are looking for a new place. One smaller (all six of the kids are on their own now and this four bedroom three bath is just too big) and with a bigger lot. I would like no less than a half an acre. It may take five or ten years but we have left it in God's able hands.

Hi everyone,

I am leaving tomorrow morning for my vacation and should be home by Sept. 20-21st. I have asked Kaperc to help with any questions you have regarding the RU and she will also be keeping track of any new attendees that might be able to come, in a separate post of hers.

If you are able to attend, please post here on this thread so we can keep track of how many people will be coming. Louise will need to know this so she can have the correct amount of table & chairs we need to have.
