Betty next long weekend here is Labor Day (Sept 5,6,7) and after that it's Columbus Day (Oct 10,11,12) Of course these are US holidays. What have you got coming up for Canadian ones? It doesn't make any difference to me as I'm retired and am always around.

LOL Liz you're doing the same thing I am with Dave!! He keeps saying that he's going to go see his brother in Alaska, but said that we had to go before we moved to AR cause it's cheaper flying from Ca than Ar (no kidding) but we never made it, it's been 30 + years since he's seen his brother and when it comes down to buying the plane ticket he always chooses to do something else, so I don't think it's the big deal he's making it seem like.

Betty I'm so sorry about Bernie's friend, that's horrible. I'm hoping he doesn't lose the other leg, or worse yet, his life. Dang I hate hearing that, he's had enough on his plate lately.

What did I learn? LOL not much today, Pizza's fattening! Didn't really learn it, but am feeling it!

Crissy, thanks, when you are a friend of Bernie's you are a friend for life..he's much the same as I...treat them with the very most respect, do anything for them, wouldn't do them harm and would never think they'd do harm to us.. however again both we're both the same, if they do something to hurt me or my loved ones , end of that friendship.. have friends since childhood...friends are too precious to not take excellent care of them don't you think...had a few friends, always trauma, always talking about others, found that when they were with the others they were nice as pie..that gives you one clue..when you are not around, you are on that list being talked about..not particularly fond of that kind of friendship....world can be harsh enough without adding to it...your thoughts please??? Guess I got on that tanget meeting a few girls at the grocery store, more intent on gossip than shopping..lol

Now why am I preaching..thanks for the prayers for Bernie's friend..will let you know how things are going...both for Bernie and his friend..

Before getting home I went to the Elmvale flea market held on Thursdays...bought all my veggies and fruit..of course I had to pass a nursery..trying to find red phlox to add to those I already have and also get a few for Darlene who is looking for some..no go, every color but...came home with a pot of maroon/red mums, a few perrenials..

saw some cement benches, lordy they were pretty..here I did one and finished it off with glass/marbles etc and it's in the back where nobody sees it so on the weekend, think I'll redesign part of the garden near the pond, go purchase tw cement legs for it (presently sitting on cement blocks..not pretty..don't know why I keep going to these nurseries, come home and voila another plan of attack..



Just came in after working in the gardens, drats, talk about mosquito's and bugs,,you know, I looked closely at a lot of plants/shrubs/trees, leaves don't look healthy....doesn't look like they've been attacked by bugs, looks more like frost..surely not!

yuk..just had a bug crawling up my neck...

got some weeding done and deadheading..do you often when dead heading take seed and scatter it on the ground? Gathered lots of blue and white flax seed, my favorite little flower..blows in the wind, always amazed at the stem, as thin as thread and yet it holds all of those pretty flowers...time to start filling up my seed journal for next year...'gather while ye may!'

Worse of the day...hearing that Bernie's case is still in limbo, about the poor children fighting for their life from being hit by lightning and hering about Bernie's friend...

What did I learn today...you were all correct, news tonight was saying the actual storm could be 15 miles away and blue sky where it hits..my goodness how it one to know this and take precaution so that you aren't hit? Never knew that..often there has been rumbling and lightning in the far distance and I pay no attention..think I will now..



Need a bath, feeling creepy crawlers all over me..oops forgot dog food, trip to variety store is needed...

Betty you've just described a bunch of people I know. I have 3 friends here, maybe.

I just got in from watering and I'm dirty and need a bath too. I think I'll shower this time, took a bath last night with Betty's wonderful bath gel.

I'm going to make an appt with a massage therapist tomorrow, need one so bad. Diana just told me about her friend has a man hair dresser, she's going to get me his phone number Yay!! She also knows someone who has a good masseur, I'm grinning ear to ear!

Well I have nothing else, so I'm going to go clean up and eat some shrimpies w/ cocktail sauce.

Hello To All;

Liz & Betty - Supposedly DH is going on the "Fishing trip of a lifetime" ...150 miles off the coast and a 53 foot yacht....or something like that....I told him "yeah right...I've heard of fishing trips like that...better hope there's a seafood shop on your way home. :)"

Supposedly they may catch some tuna...We'll see...He knows I will drag this out ...he will owe many favors. :) #1 for leaving me with 3 teens for the weekend #2 It's technically my "Birthday" weekend. I KNOW Tubby never asked Shirley for a favor like this! I'll milk it for as much as I can... LOL !

Betty - DD1 dances with the High School Dance Team...during football season they dance along with the High School Band...which DS plays (this year) Snare Drum for....I'll try to attach an old pic from last year. It's something I did through High School and College...so I have to admit....I do live a bit vicariously through her on this one...

Hey Judy ! Liz , Betty ETC...the new job is still a DREAM....I had FIVE appointments today all with new prospects and enjoyed them all....I've never had that many before..and they were all SO excited to meet with me...

I did get frustrated back at the TV station...I have questions about things...but I hate to ask other salespeople because they don't get paid to help me...I hate to ask my manager because she is SO busy....

Just have to be patient...I'm still working at a very fast pace ...I feel like I was "rescued" not "hired" and I have to remember...they must have hired me because they felt like I was worthy....it's not like I have to prove myself 24/7. :)

Was a long day today....they think Sean's current issue will take care of itself in a few weeks, which is good news......if he is approved for financial assistance they have given him another appointment for next month and will do an MRI to try and find out what is causing his back problems....that would be so wonderful...the doctors he has seen with DSHS here sure haven't done anything for him.

Getting late and I think I am going to call it night, may even sleep in in the morning.

i almost died on the spot! so sounds like to me he is good with the idea now to work on a plan...
poor guy had to go to work today they begged him dont know if he has to work tomorrow or not yet.
i dont go back till monday, guess today i will round up garage sale items think the boss mentioned another one for next sat or maby the following.
but first i have to walk the dogs in a couple of hours get that out of the way lol.

Liz, thank you for asking. I am doing a bit better. Blood pressure is 90/62 and have been napping and drinking clear fluids the last two days. Never made it to the doctors, trying to "behave" and see if that helps. Swelling really is getting better.

Kenny sounds like he has a good plan! I think the two of us could have sat and watched the little chipmunk all day at Judys. Those things are so cute.

On the run with school shopping today...it has to be done. Grrr.

Oh I am in soooooo much trouble! Today's my mom's birthday and I have her number, along with everyone else's numbers, in my cell phone, I forgot my cell phone at home. What's worse yet, Dave always texts me between 11 and 2 from the house, the stupid things on vibrate with an extremely low battery so if he texts he'll never hear it ding in another part of the house. At least I can call him and tell him, maybe get mom's phone number out of it for me. My goodness I did this last year too.

Debbie I was up early, in Barrie and shopping early this morning..was in Canadian Tire (wouldn't you know my favorite place to shop) and wasn't there a little chipmunk running here and there...I said 'oh you've got pets' and the salesman said he was their resident "Ernie"..

Wish you had gone to the Dr's Debbie, might not be something you should try and fix on your own, worried about you..find it hard knowing how busy you always are that you are indeed taking it easy! you know you only live 3 hrs. away..you wouldn't want me to come and take you to emerge now would you...lol How's Paul enjoying his time off?

Liz, know when I start to check out flights to California I'm going to make sure that I fly out of Buffalo N.Y. - the landing taxes/tire taxes..taxes/taxes/taxes make our flights almost double..you look at a $399. flight and when all is tallied you are almost double.. from time to time I'll keep posting 'fish' photo's lol..that way we'll keep reeling him in..
Bet he's not a happy camper having to go back to work early..but, he did enjoy what time he had off...wish I was there to see what you are putting in the garage sale...thought of you yesterday..after work I went to the Garden Gallery in town and they had so much halloween pieces out..entire village, just the same as a Christmas Village but done in halloween, so of course I thought of you...Garden Gallery is no longer decorated in spring/summer colors...we're now into fall, still so very pretty though..

Praying for Sean both to get financial assistance and medical help..as you say, being in the 30's is much too young to have back problems..not having surgery though must have made him feel better...how long before he knows if he will get financial assistance? Hoping you don't get to read this till your 'noon', you need the rest...

Mary, how exciting for DH..took a trip out of Boston Harbour many moons ago, Roger fished but yuk, not I..couldn't even stand the smell of all the bait..not a fish eater as you can see..now will you do something equally as interesting on your birthday? do hope so...Mary, cannot believe what your schools teach the youth, absolutely nothing like that goes on in our school system...your music and dance programs are unbelievable...now look at those costumes..you'd swear they are in a broadway show in N.Y...will the dance team be over tonight or tomorrow, did you give in? lol

Mentioned last night that I received a 'swap envelope' so much fun..stayed up until almost 11 reading the "Garden of Love" poems, kept looking around to see what flower arrangement in the house could be smelling so sweet..it wasn't until I neared the last page that the inscription from the manufacturer said "Scented just for You" just too cool...

Up early so sales start at Canadian Tire and they open up at 8:00-guess who was at the door..last night when going to the variety store I got a piece of pine branch in my eye, hurts like the dickens...you can't see the little mall witht he tree line so I'm always taking a shortcut through it...last night when looking at the sales paper I saw they had a very simple metal arbor - reg. $99.99 on for $35.99 so decided that I'd put it inbetween 2 of the pine tress, next year make a garden around it and some vines and I would have my own entrance into the restaurant and variety store without doing damage to myself.. (Debbie, found another trinket for my fairy swap so mailing it at lunch)

As I was going in the store there was a display of plants/shrubs...25 cents for perrenials, some aren't in the best of condition but I'm sure would survive..more for next year than this year... so at the till I asked her if I could pay for them without having to go outside..she checked her scanner sheet and said they were now reduced to 5 cents so I said, I'll take 30..so I have some planting to do when I get home..even if 10 or 12 were to survive still cheap..got to work at 9:02 ooops, didn't even have time for coffee..think I might take a run to timmy's..yuk, can't have a donut..


Stopped at a nursery on my way to work, they've various cement pieces there..asked about footings for the cement bench, nope..could order them though..bought the mold for the top of the bench in Barrie at stained glass place..might just give them a call this morning to see if they have molds for the legs..if I buy them probably cost $60 - $75. maybe mold isn't that much more and then I have the molds to make both the top and legs...

Did I forget to say it's the most glorious of days and much the same all weekend...don't know if I want to do anything but play in the yard...but, in my mail were 2 notices...one from Carol's here in Barrie, she's moving and has all kinds of painting supplies and garage sale going on tomorrow, then Fabricland sent me a flyer, forgot to check when their 40% off for members start...hmmmm what to do, what to do...

Now tell me, you purchased a cart full of things you were going to send her for her birthday, which are you keeping and which are you sending out??? I have a feeling that not much is being posted...lol

I've decided to take them to her next weekend, I need to go visit her anyway and that way I don't have to worry about the mail breaking them.

I'm sure Crissy she'll enjoy that much more...will Dave be able to travel with you?

Girlfriend just gave me the news that they've taken their house off the market (live on same lake I lived on) and also that her daughter Jenny is getting married...2 pieces of good news..gee whiz this day is going good..

No, I'm going on a weekend he's working. She will enjoy it, I want to go to the casino and see a good concert lol!

Crissy, how many weekends does he get off? Is she feeling any better..you've reminded me, got to give my mom a call, she's been feeling terrible of late..when kids call at least it makes you feel like somebody cares right?

One a month. He was supposed to be off this weekend but ended up taking last weekend off because of his back, and we have a party to go to tomorrow night at 8, this will be the 5th party we have been invited to and missed because of his work, but it's better than being laid off. They're going to lay off in October and he's stressing this one, it's supposed to be the last layoff and he's supposed to go to the Trim and Upholstery department working under Lori, but the rumor mill is the lazy a** who lies on his time card and never does any work, or offers to work someone's shift for them and never shows up to actually do it, is going to take over Lori's position, Lori's going to go to another department and Dave's going to be working under Mr. Lazy. I can't see that happening, I'm thinking Mr. Lazy will get laid off because he's been busted for lying numerous times and all year they've laid off all of the dead weight, and he's major dead weight.

He is feeling better. On Wednesday he said he was going to make a dr appt for Friday to get more muscle relaxers, I don't know if he made the appt and I don't have my phone so I can't ask him until later. ggggrrrrrrrr

It's always good to have the kids call. I hope your mom's alright.

How is Bernie's friend doing? Did Bernie leave for NH yet? I can see the Crotched Mountain ski area from the end of my street!!! That's how close I am to it. Your guess is correct though - just about a half hour. Don't I wish you were coming too...I have two spare rooms right now and we could have had lots of fun. Even have two sewing machines! Do Suzanne and Bernie play golf?

Hi everyone...

Another early but not so bright morning!

Yuck, got into a dumb argument with Jake about bookday...Bottom line, Coach settled it and guess who was right afterall?
So had to wake Breenie from her slumber, she took my coaxing as me yelling at her, grrr, so then We got ito an argument over school and geesh hasn't even started yet, in the middle i ended really yelling at her, both of us angrier then wasps!
So get into the book sale and she is still mad and acting all mean to the very friendly Welcome Back teachers and others and here is this
girl taking it out on them! Kept my mouth shut, they know how to work with her moods, she did get friendlier to them. Well still talking to me like I am stupid, I hand her stuff, said I'll leave this to you since I only need to write the checks, maybe you'll be happier if I'm not here, I'll be in the hall! Was glad to have kept tears under control because, about five minutes later...here comes my girl, says you need to be with me to sign some things. Follow her in, an off campus lunch form needs to be signed, I sign and we proceed to the id line. She goes over takes her pic, comes back out and we set things straight, lol...I say to her if you want to sign fun things for you, you better change your atitude...ok so now we are giggling and joking around, things back to normal, waiting in line for yearbook pictures and her id is ready, OMG, no smile looks like a mug shot!! So now both bust out laughing, she asks if they can re-take it, they say no and she has to show it at every station. LOL trying to be fun about it says I wasn't even ready, I laugh and say Baloney you were MAD at me, lol we laugh some more...Two hours later we get home, with all the books and uniforms, yay miss crabby butte went back to bed.
Oh and great Joy i get to do this all over again with Jake...and so begins the school year!

Got home at 1:45 - missed 3 calls playing in the yard..couldn't have been an emergency because they didn't leave a message..

Bit of a headache and I DESERVE it...so hot outside and who goes out and works her self into a tissie..you've got it..little old me..

Because they say tomorrow and Sunday will be far nicer than today then I must get done outside what needs to be done..

Don't ask me if I needed the pond emptied and cleaned, shaking my head no but thought I should so now I've 4' of water to refill it..most likely by 10 or 11 it will be finished...

While pond was emptying I decided to put the arbor together, piece of cake, took 20 minutes, no tools, just allenkey they provided, fun part was when I tried to locate it between the trees..this is where I'm wondering if I'm all there at times...went and got my trusted branch cutter and cut/cut and cut some more, by the time I finished well let's say I didn't need the arbor, that plan didn't turn but I'm not discouraged..next spring I'll plant a few shrubs, makes a little garden on the sides and it will be as planned, you just can't get discouraged with these things can you?

I'll dig up some hops , a vine or two and it will give me an easy entrance ... live at the variety store and restaurant during the winter...

I've received so many wonderful treasures this year...it's amazing, in the spring when I take them all out, I go through memories of those I received them from and on what occassion and think just how blessed I've been...

Watered the plants I got several times, going to give them a chance to adjust tonight and plant them in the morning...

Would think some will make it...

Hey Betty send me some of those pine needles for my daylily mulch. LOL Just about a ton is what I need. Going to take my goody bag over and show to my good friend across the street. Can't thank you enough . It was so good to see you and Debbie in person. It really meant a lot to me. Scotty is enjoying his snickers !!! I want you to see this daylily bloming today. Took out my receipt..I spend $50.28 I believe it was..the receipt said
in the middle, "today you saved $127.20" imagine that..almost worth going to my favorite store "Canadian Tire" tomorrow in Midland..lol
