Tubby oh Tubby, where are thou Tubby??
Liz I'm so glad the two of you had such a good time! It's great hearing about all of these trips.
LK I'm worried about Todd. Glad he's back to work but my goodness, poor guy.
Debbie if your swelling hasn't improved maybe you should go to the dr. My mom's ready to call the doctor in NY, she's been looking for him online, what medical facility does he work out of? She's going to see if one of her drs will give her a referral also.
Betty I'm worried about the painting project :) I'm such a scardy cat!
What am I going to do with Dave??? He pulled up a hibiscus I had growing from seed, and I found everything that he pulled he left in a pile in the flowerbed, I was trying to figure out what was missing, my Hot Lips was under them and I highly doubt they'll make it. Why won't he leave my beds alone??? Why doesn't he understand, "Stay out of my beds????" I don't get it, but that's the second Hot Lips because he pulled up the first one last year. What do I have to do, threaten divorce because of plants????
Best/Worse/What did I learn today-visit with friends #118
OMG Crissy, not only did he do a number on your neighbors plants now he's working on yours...tell him you'll do the trimming from now on...or better still, go purchase plants on his credit card and say for every one of yours he destroys, you'll buy 2 and he'll have to foot the bill...that might do it.
Your mom doesn't think the operation was successful? The Dr. in N.Y. is he the one Debbie was telling you about? wouldn't it be something if she could get to see him..Debbie was quite impressed with him..let's hope for appt.
Bernie's lawyer and insurance lawyer is meeting today for final attempt to come to some financial arrangement, if not, the trial date will be scheduled by Bernie's lawyer after the meeting..it's the not knowing and having it always in your mind that causes the stress..
Day 3 of this diet I'm following with Suzanne, but not taking the needles so I'm here trying to drink water, so me that's a chore.....yuk
Crissy, you'll do fine..would only be basecoating..promise..
Ambien SUCKS Tell you later
NOW SMILE
Mrs. McGervey was walking down O'Connell Street in Dublin when she met up with Father O'Flaherty.
The Father said, 'Top o' the mornin' to ye! Aren't ye Mrs. McGervey and didn't I marry ye and yer hoosband 2 years ago?'
She replied, 'Aye, that ye did, Father.'
The Father asked, 'And be there any wee little ones yet?'
She replied, 'No, not yet, Father.'
The Father said, 'Well now, I'm going to Rome next week and I'll light a candle for ye and yer hoosband.'
She replied, 'Oh, thank ye, Father.' They then parted ways.
Some years later they met again. The Father asked, 'Well now, Mrs. McGervey, how are ye these days?'
She replied, 'Oh, very well, Father!' The Father asked, 'And tell me, have ye any wee ones yet?'
She replied, 'Oh yes, Father! Three sets of twins and 4 singles, 10 in all!'
The Father said, 'That's wonderful! How is yer lovin' hoosband doing?'
She replied, 'E's gone to Rome to blow out yer dern' candle.
Crissy, I sent your Mom an email this morning. Sorry it took so long, I just have not been feeling well....and trying to keep up with everything at the house and Paul being home.
I am making an appointment for tomorrow with the doctors as I will be up that way and save two trips in this heat.
I feel like a guilty child...sneaking over to the computer working on pictures and such...and DH comes in and says "what are you doing off the couch?" With one of those looks! LOL Not supposed to be as hot today...so I think that will help also.
Betty, saying prayers for Bernie.
Liz, you cracked me up with all of you and Kenny and our cornfield!
That will be my next storyline...nothing I write will do the actual time justice...but it is one I will never forget.
Debbie

Mustard
I Love Mustard. (This is a true story. If you have children you will probably relate to this father).
As ham sandwiches go, it was perfection: a thick slab of ham on a fresh bun with crisp lettuce and plenty of expensive, light brown, Gourmet Mustard.
The corners of my jaw aching in anticipation, I carried it to the table in our backyard, picked it up with both hands, but was stopped by my wife suddenly at my side.
Here, hold Johnny (our six-week-old son) while I get my sandwich,' she said.
I had him balanced between my left elbow and shoulder and was reaching again for the ham sandwich when I noticed a streak of mustard on my fingers..
I love mustard.
I had no napkin..
I licked it off.
It was not mustard.
No man ever put a baby down faster.
It was the first and only time I have sprinted with my
tongue protruding out.
With a washcloth in each hand, I did the sort of routine
shoeshine boys do, only I did it on my tongue.
Later, after she stopped crying from laughing so hard, my
wife Said, 'Now you know why they call that fancy mustard
Poupon.''
OHhHHHH Tubby, they have you on Ambien? You poor man! I have several friends who have had that...and it is NOT good side effects. And if you are like them...don't let anyone have a camera or a tape recorder around you for the "off the wall" things it makes you do!
Keeping you in thoughts and prayers.
Debbie

THE
BRICK
A
young and successful executive was traveling
down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast
in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids
darting out from between parked cars and slowed
down
When
he thought he saw something. As his car passed,
no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed
into the Jag's side door!
He
slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to
the spot where the brick had been thrown. The
angry driver
Then
jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid
and pushed him up against
A
parked car shouting, 'What was that all about
and who are you? Just what the heck are you
doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw
is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do
it?' The young boy was apologetic. 'Please,
mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't know
what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the brick
because no one else would stop...' With tears
dripping down his face and off his chin, the
youth pointed to a spot just around a parked
car. 'It's my brother,' he said, 'he rolled off
the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I
can't lift him up.'
Now
sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive,
'Would you please help me get him back into his
wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for
me.'
Moved
beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the
rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He
hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into
the wheelchair, then took out a linen
handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and
cuts. A quick look told him everything was going
to be okay. 'Thank you and may God bless you,'
the grateful child told the stranger. Too shook
up for words, the man simply watched the boy
push his wheelchair-bound brother down the
sidewalk toward their
home....
It
was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The
damage was very noticeable, but the driver never
bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept
the dent there to remind him of this message:
'Don't go through life so fast that someone has
to throw a brick at you to get your attention!'
God whispers in our souls and speaks to our
hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to
listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our
choice to listen or not.
Thought
for the Day:
If
God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on
it.
If
He had a wallet, your photo would be in
it.
He
sends you flowers every
spring.
He
sends you flowers every
spring.
He
sends you a sunrise every morning Face it,
friend - He is crazy about
you!
God
didn't promise days without pain, laughter
without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did
promise strength for the day, comfort for the
tears, and light for the way.
Read
this line very slowly and let it sink
in...
If
God brings you to it, He will bring you through
it.
Betty he's already in the mind set that he pays for everything and pays all the bills, doesn't have a credit card in his name, nor take my paycheck into consideration at all. I have told him about 5 times in 2 months to stay out of my beds and to let me worry about them, he won't listen. He did listen when I told him Diana's elephant ears are not on our property and not his to mess with. He has been doing a number on my plants all year long, he's weedeated a poor little mint plant 3 times, my only blue hosta once, tore out some other things that he thought were weeds, then took out Diana's elephant ears and that one ear was as tall as he is and he didn't see it????? now this. It's seeming to be deliberate even though I know it's not. When I mention it to him he just laughs. I wish he had something I could destroy, maybe mow over or something.
Mom's operation did what it was supposed to, but she has a lot more scar tissue that needs to come out, there's a band on the right that's and that nerve needs to be cut.
Debbie I so appreciate you helping her. I know you're in a lot of pain with your swelling too, and she just needs to calm down.
Tubby I'm sorry about the Ambien! No wonder you haven't been posting. You have me laughing one minute and crying the next LOL
Tubby how wonderful to see you post..you got me smilling...not sure what Ambien is..do hope it brings you back to health..

Just told mom this a.m. when she called how wonderful aging is..she has a sinus infection and also ear infection so is falling quite a bit, she's nauseated as well, she did get meds but says they are creating more problems than the infection..had to be mean to her..she's telling me how sick she is then she says, washing floor laying down on it because I'm too dizzy..hello, nobody home??? there is just her and Jim at home, keeps a clean house, why on earth is she doing the floors...moms....
Then Sharon called, he back is bad again, can hardly move, her daughter used her laptop and spilled an entire can of coke in it...drats that's not good...
Everyone seems to be having a difficult day today..best I say some prayers...

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Ambien:

Ambien is a sleep aid, and it does just that.
I can see I don't overwhelm either of you, no longer the mother figure as I see cigarette pkg.lighter on table...closing my eyes but have to say hands on on hips as usual..
Your house was tidy Judy...if you rushed and it was messy, you managed to get it in order..not that I'm fussy so don't know why you rushed...laughing at the mental image of the 4 of you though..
Guess your next big adventure is organizing all for kids to go back to school...
Forgot to ask how the pie tasted? think Steve worried you only had 1 made and not 2...
Ohhh it's just as pretty at night than when we visited during the day...
What a good picture Judy, but are you on the left or the right, and is Liz on the left or the right?
Aw thank you Judy! When Betty and Debbie visited me we were talking about how neat it is to be able to visualize someone just by the way they type, and 9 times out of 10 you're right on the money! I look horrible in those shorts though. Yikes!
Liz, I need to learn how to roll dough, I have a heck of a time!
Going to lunch, then hopefully I'll be awake when I come back, this is ridiculous.
Ohhh, Tubby, that is some serious stuff, Geeze, Goodness, either you had some craziness or you didn't sleep at all!
Will be patient and wait for story...You ok now? Sending you a hug and Shirley too.
LOL Betty, Yep last thing Liz insisted was mopping! So she sped around trhe kitchen just a mopping away when, it broke...LOL, here is the 2 of us trying to figure out how it broke and how to piece it back together, i went in search for one of those pin things.
LOL, she did manage to finish up because by time I come back to say i couldn't find it...lol did, but much later...
But good heavens of all the days craziness just had to happen, hands on the hips here...only me! I asked jake to take out the garbage earlier and OMG,OMG...something had died in there! the odifferace odor had the two (Liz & I) us heaving, LOL, Liz was running through the kitchen with a perfume bottle under her nose...ROFLOL! YUCK and even more...
I am telling you, if we were a reality show, you'ld have tears in your eyes from all that we manage to get into!
So now to get rid of that thought...Oh yep, had to go to enroll Julia into her 2nd year of College, she is taking on 3 classes and a seminar.
Ran to drop Jake and Sabrina's registration off...Then Jake went and got his football gear. He was so cute, started tossing himself around in it...you know practicing, He was highly impressed that padding and gear really worked!
Hey Girl, your suppose to working!! LOL...
Yep that one was in Wisconsin at the Granite Falls resaurant and Lounge...Was a fun time.
Betty, Here is my pie...I made it while Liz supervised, lol I was sweating and Steve was busy making fun...I told him, he keeps it up it will be the last pie i make...LOLOL, It was real pretty until s o m e o n e dragged a gallon of milk over it!! uhmm, not me.
LOL, it is still in the fridge! Think its stiffened yet...LOL we even carted it to Wisconsin and Back.
Can't believe in one year how Jacob has grown..no more little boy, almost a man, bet he thinks he is one...you'll have your hands full, girls do like football stars..
Think Judy your home is often geared for a 'reality show' lol..
Must be something in the weather today, almost everyone (except Suzanne and I) are all wound up..
I called home to have one of the girls measure back basement door, need a new one desperately and thought I might as well shop for one (odd size so perhaps re-use it shop)..if Bernie will spend time replacing all the doors/casing he might as well replace it..now that I'm eating all this healthy food I have time to shop at lunch..might take a run after I drop Suzanne off to pick up her vehicle...
Wednesday today..I've classes tonight, not going to say I'm not looking forward to it because once they come I'm fine with it...miss all my painting friends....
Got to find a project for here at the office, bored to death..
Judy, looks delicious, how come it hasn't been eaten?? and you even used fresh California lemons..had I known I'd have had a slice before I left...my favorite..
Judy, if someone doesn't eat that pie soon....it will be suitable for Bettys "non-edible" pies on the counter display!
It looks so pretty and like it would taste great. How did Liz's pie taste?
I love the picture of Kenny with the sunset, he looks like he is actually relaxing.
I have composed the cornfield pictures. Get ready.
Crissy, Liz is to your left Im her other half! lol.
Betty..lol, I think your right..
Ohh, Liz'z pie was delicious, we enjoyed a slice later in the day..
as for mine, dunno just keep forgetting about it...my fridge is so jam packed, Liz made sure we wouldn't/wont be starving anytime soon!
I think it lost in there. LOLOL Debbie.
Yay can't wait to see more picture from you Debbie...
LOL, Liz/Debbie reading some of my posts, i think I get what Debbie meant when she said her girls were like the 2 of us!
So...
Betty and Debbie arrived and.. oh my heavy laughter resounded through my house almost the entire time they were here.
Debbie, you are a doll I am so very glad you came. We all had an excellent time, was so wishing you didn't have to go so soon...
But, Betty, just love you to pieces so we were just like kids at Christmas you came for the reunion!!
Debbie, How cool you Dh and DD did all the work for the party..and again was so glad to read it was a sucess.
Betty, you are soo right, Steve and kenny sure did have a great time, they kept us laughing almost the entire time. And when Steve wasn't around Jake stepped up to the plate with Kenny...OMG, I'll bet Li'z cheeks are quivering at the two of them.
OK, here we go. Grab a drink...but be careful. No computer spewing on my watch! LOL
I don't know if you all know the "how and about" we got to Sharons! Well, Sharon is probablys till wondering how we got there in the manner we did! And this...was just the beginning of "adventures with Betty and the GPS" whom we really believe was a bit PMSish or something.
I swear to Heavens the GPS had mood swings and wanted to send us on little adventures...for no apparent reason. Betty and I would just look at each other like "What the he## is this?" and "HOW" did we get here.
On the way to dear Bev & Scotty's house....Betty thought it would be a great idea to get Scotty some chocolates! I agree....you need chocolate...everyone needs it...and what better thing when your not feeling well. It is a cure all...I am sure of it! SO off we go!
Find a little store, get what we need.....and off we go.
Betty told me "somewhere on our travels, I think we will be on the old Rt. 66". That should have warned me. Right off the bat.
And we found it! Lord have mercy, we found it......and corn.
Now, we have corn here in NY. Both my SIL's are farm boys...and so is my FIL. I see corn all the time. BUT. Not corn like this.
You remember that old song "Corn as high as an elephants eye" Yep, that was this corn....and it was all around us!
No worries! We were on Rt. 66....getting our kicks! Right??
And Ms. GPS...decided to kick into full gear.....turn right at .5 miles.
OK...we turn right. A very sharp right. And there....was more corn.
We go forward and keeps laughing....is SHE serious?
There is now GRASS growing in the middle of these roads. No lie.
Suddenly Betty hits the brakes....we were about to be swallowed by a giant pothole. Bettys little car....would not have been happy....especially since we were driving on a wounded tire! We had to be careful!
And then...she sent us further....more gravel roads....more CORN that you can't even see over...and heaven forbid a car comes from the other directions....we would be creamed!
Edited to add....that bottom picture....see that sign off to the left in the distance...that was where we needed to be....and could we get there? OHHHHH NO!
This message was edited Aug 12, 2009 1:20 PM
Ohhh, I/We were so glad we got tohave our picnic too...
...Sometime preparing the day before is best!
And Betty, here is a reminder in case you forget how to use those towels!!
Will be sure to Tell Steve when he gets home.
OK, so moving right along here read some more of the other Thread, Oh my For sure all the gardens are gorgeous.
Bev, my oh my just love the sunflower photos too.
Mary, some day i will come too! have never been to Louisiana!!
How are you doing? I love your garden, so pretty.
Sooo, Skittle loved the heck out of Liz and Kenny, she sure wanted to be right in on everything we did.
Here she is showing off her knitting skills to Liz....so cute.
oops, croosed with Debbie, so will be quiet and watch the show come to life, LOL.
Now about this time....Betty and I start laughing. I am not talking a little giggle here and there. Our sides hurt....horribly. I could bearly breath.....and Betty begs...please stop...I am going to be sick from laughing so hard. We couldnt' stop...neither one of us.
I am thinking...I will never see my family again. Bodies will be found in a corn field....like the little mouse who couldn't get out of the maze! BUT, I don't tell Betty this, she already knows I am a nut case. LOL
So, we reconfigure Ms. GPS about this time...and on we go.
Now, I have to post this picture single....so you can get the full effects.
We are driving down the road....and Betty is asking if I see any signs or anything. Nope ...just some planes off in the distance. I think she thought I meant in the air. U mmmm, no.
Ms. GPS tells us to turn right yet again.....and down we go.....and there, in front of us...is a gate. A rather intimidating gate.....across the road.....and in front of us.....
an airport runway! No kidding! Betty has to back all the way down this road...as there is not even room to do a 3 point turn and turn around!
Betty backs down to some folks driveway (at least 4/10ths of a mile) and it says "Airport Trailway Lane" or something along those lines!
I kid you not! The laughing starts again.
We turn around....and program yet again Ms. GPS. I can't remember what Betty put in....I think most traveled roads or quickest route.....
and that is where it takes us!
The first road....was letting us know not to go down there if it was wet or else....but the sign was there...and we couldn't actually see the road! It was so over grown...with a bit of gravel here and there peeking through.
And the second road...I will never forget. Jeep Road. Yep. Because you need a freeekin jeep to get down it!
The laughing was starting to die down now....and I think we both were in such pain from the laughing...and just kept saying "Don't tell Sharon this one...she doesn't know how we got to her house....and now we would have to explain how we got to Bev & Scottys....and we don't know that either!" And we started laughing again....
We got so lossed we missed the entire town we were supposed to meet Bev at....and for the life of me...we somehow ended up in Bevs actual town.
My cell phone was dying...beeping at me and I think I had one call left. Thankfully our dear Bev answered....and came to save us.
I will not lie....I was afraid to get back in that car with Ms. GPS in control....and know we were heading for a BIG city.
Ummm, by the way......we got lost after we left Bevs....50 miles in the wrong direction I am sure.....but decided the town was so pretty...we just wanted to go see it again! Thats our story....and I am stickin too it!
LOL Debbie you are too funny! Those paved roads look like the roads I take from my house to the highway, potholes and all, no joking. All I can say about that, and I don't mean to offend anyone, but welcome to the Midwest, and welcome to stepping back in time about 20 years in the towns, 40 to 60 years in the country. Am I reading that sign right, turn right and you're on the Route 66 that was traveled from 1930 to 1940, and if you go straight it's the road that was used from 1940 to 1977?? My dad lives on Routh 66, and he's shown me all around Joplin, MO on it. It's still used and maintained there though, but I know of a lot of parts that have completely disintegrated over time.
The GPS does that, there's been many a times I've ended up in someone's driveway, or a itty bitty road that was gated off, or something that needs a 4x4 to drive on.
When I was in Nebraska, God Bless Nebraska and Tubby, and everyone else who lives there, my boyfriend at the time's mom took me out sightseeing. OMG I had never seen a town that the only way in and out was a one lane dirt road. I was in awe the whole time I was there.
I'm here in the office Debbie laughing away, you just had to be there, no for 5 minutes or 10 minutes but over 1 hr. think closer to 1 1/2...just too funny..certainly was a maze..at least Debbie it was something exciting to tellthe family..then when it said head south from Bev's it sounded incorrect but often you have to head south to catch the main hightway so we kept driving/driving until Debbie spoke up and said, 'oh/oh isn't that the town we drove all afternoon in a cornfield to find?' certainly was..now all we could do was laugh our heads off...
Poor Bev and Scotty, we were so wound up when she came to meet us she must have been concerned as to what kind of people she was taking home....sweet as she and Scotty are they just gave us a downhome welcome, hug and many laughs...
Crissy, think you really have to look at a map before you set the gps..
if you say 'main highways' it takes you well out of your way to find only major routes, if you key in 'fastest time' or 'shortest route' goodness knows where you are taken...
I've come to the conclusion though that when you take a road trip, who cares where you wind up, sometimes you can see the neatest things...like eat at Loretta Lynn's restaurant, have ice cream at Casey Jones Railway Station and Country Store..etc...that's what I like about travelling...infact our first night out I had the best tasting club house sandwich ever and for under $5.00...
Judy, did Liz give up trying to knit...
Debbie, you should be writting, you've a wonderful way with words...looking forward to our next chapter...
Don't overdo
lol debbie no i finally got posession of my needles, that bird is tooo funny!
wish i could yap but its nap time
How can it be nap time Liz when it's just around noon or are you now working the afternoon shift?
Betty, any time is nap time when the feeling hits! I am making up for missed naps it seems. About 2:00 comes...and my eyes are drooping soooo bad....and I crash! You done wore me out woman!
I am sure Liz is re-adjusting to the time changes also...and the fun at Judys'. Its going to take us a month to get back to "normal" ROFL
Trisha, when I was shopping at lunch I looked for a little white t-shirt to do the painting on for Sage...couldn't find any without logo's on them..will continue to search for one...didn't forget...lol
How is Laura doing? Guess Sage is looking forward to school this year as she probably has met a lot of the local children this summer...
Have they put Doris' house on the market? With the economy will it be easily sold?
I was luckier than you both, got home Friday night and spent the entire weekend I think on the couch, some for catching up on sleep and also due to the weather..but yes, hadn't thought about that...how did your SIL make out with his finger tip being cut off...is he still in a lot of pain? yikes some of what farmers do is awfully dangerous...
Andy is in a lot of pain. Going to get worse they said when the nerve endings start to regenerate and there is nothing there. Has to keep it elevated and stil....but guess who is at work? Letting DD handle that, he is her problem. She will call if she needs reinforcements hopefully. He did this the first time a few months before their wedding....injured two severely that time but were able to repair. Not so lucky this time.
This is Carrie & Andy at Jeanna's wedding.
