For the love of amphibians!

Golly, got the pond filled, got to put in a lily or two, then watch (or listen) to them arrive.
Beautiful frog pictures you all. I love them.

Gosh BeaHive - You take the MOST beautiful (& charming) pictures.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Thanks but the frogs should take the credit. I just love them and they are very photogenic!

Ah, but you do have a way with the camera, Bea. Your non-frog photos are gorgeous too. :)

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Well Thanks. How are things with your pond and the raccoons?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

All's well, the electric fence keeps them away from the pond. Still no sign of my little frogs, though. :(

Raleigh, NC(Zone 8a)

I've been slacking a bit ... my apologies. We've discovered a few new babies in our ponds, which I've managed to snap a few pictures of. They're a little more skittish about the camera still as they're not used to it, like Bud here, who is used to and quite comfortable in front of the camera.

I am loving these froggy pics, but could you all identify what kind they are if you happen to know? jljo- I'm fascinated by your brown spotted frog with a green face - who is he? Very interesting.

P.S. I acquired a vivarium last week with a resident Blue Poison Dart Frog and he's beautiful! Not meant for the outside of course. I have to feed him (wingless) fruit flies which I'm not crazy about but it's not so bad once you get the hang of it and his little back toes twitch when he gets excited - a curiosity of the breed - possibly caused by excitement, like eating. That I understand.

Here is one of the little fellas ... I think he thinking, "surely she doesn't see me sitting here".

Hubby says (and sources on here confirm) that our's are all bullfrogs. I'm not sure if there is a particular variety or not. I just enjoy watching/observing them.

Here's another of the two bopsy twins ... our babies.

He is beautiful! Did you find him in your pond?

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

No, actually I was walking through a field of mostly switchgrass. Found him in shorter perimeter grass and wildflowers. Although there is a pond on the property, He was really no where near any water.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

He is great. Have you had any frogs at your pond ?

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Not since that one Leopard frog stopped by for the day.

:(

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

That is a shame. Maybe next spring they will come and lay some eggs.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

hope so. I hear lots in the area. don't know what kind

Hi all,

I'm a new pond owner and would love to know what kind of frog this little guy is. I found him in my water fall the other day and then again today in one of the plants. He is not skiddish like the bullfrogs are. I have yet to see anything but a foot from those guys. I know I have at least bulls. What can I expect to happen to them when the winter arrives? Will they hibernate somewhere and return in the spring?

Thanks!!
Jeannine

Another pond pix. I have to have the little fence around for now b/c our golden retriever is quite enamored with our fish!

Also, I removed about 1/3 of the lettuces after I took this.

Jeannine, he looks like a Leopard frog.

Your pond is beautiful. I have pond envy. :)

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Beautiful Pond. I think he may be a Pickerel Frog.He seems more on the browish side vs. green. You can be the judge as you have seen him first hand. He is handsome!,

I was at a lady's house picking up some broken concrete yesterday, and there were wee little tree frogs all over her garden. I almost cried. I miss my froggies! :(

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

He has emerged!

The little frog above, not the fat floaty one, was sitting on top
of the tadpole tank when I woke up Friday morning. He was
photographed as I found him (or her) then taken the wild outdoors
to begin his life as a tree frog!
