Even with the cooler weather a few frog friends are still hanging around. This tiny one is so cute.
For the love of amphibians!
Awww, the last one is cute. "Cuddling" ... is that what we're calling it these days? ha ha
jij..looks like your frog is eating well too. Nice looking frog!
Ahh.. he is cute little one.
What are the humps on their backs? Is that leg/hip joints or something?
Had to do a bit of research. I opted out of frog dissection when I took biology many years ago.(Gross & inhumane)
Here is a picture I found on the internet which shows the skeletal system of a frog. Those lumps are
the Ileum and urostyle bones . I believe they help with the jumping along with their amazing leg bones.
Not a scientific answer, but I think I may be on the right path.
If it was early morning..he may have been doing yoga.!LOL He is a cute one!
Nice one..he looks very healthy
That's Bud ... the word "diet" is clearly not part of his croak-abulary, lol.
I wonder if we need a Frogs and Amphibian forum? Does anyone know where I can get green frogs? I'd like to get 3-4 green frogs with the blue gene.
I think a "wildlife" section for frogs, fish, etc. would be a great addition.
I saw the amphibians thread and wondered if you would like this small story.
My neighbor's daughter was catching toads this year. She had so much fun she started keeping them. One was at least 2" in diameter. She gathered 10-12 and kept them ---
IN THE WINDOW WELL
Everyone of them lived all summer. She would run around the house and come to our side of the road and gather all sorts of bugs and worms, run back over, and dump them in the window well. Within 20-30 seconds every toad had the window well picked clean and head back to their perspective corners. It was kind of fun to watch. She finally released them all in the early fall when she got bored with them. All the kids had fun watching the toads this summer.
That's a great story - as a teacher I think she had fun and educated herself!
