Best/Worse & What did I learn today?visit with friends #117

LOL Dave's mow job didn't last long, he had to give it up, which put me out there in the sun at noon ug. Oh well, got r done! Then he cleaned the deep fryer, moved bacon grease, and all kinds of other kitchen cleaning things, now he's in the recliner-sofa on his muscle relaxers. I don't see how he's going to work tomorrow.

As I was mowing there were about 6 or 7 dragonflies following me around on the mower, it was way neat. There's big swarms of them here, not like last year at all. Weird. They have light red bodies, and no they're not red wasps lol

Cool Trisha, I love getting things like that too. They don't make good tools anymore, either you have to pick up someone's old stuff or replace every year.

Hello All;

Just popping in quickly.... You're right Betty - Hindsight's 20/20....DH was complaining that he should have cut the old fronds off before he planted it but he must have got up on a ladder this morning....and cut them off. When he went back with his truck to get it the landscape guys helped him load it with a skidster (that's what DH called it). Thunderstorms threatened off & on all day yesterday so he was in a rush.

I should have taken a pic of it on the truck...what a sight! Then he dug the hole...backed the truck into the yard, and with DS help....slid it on some boards off the truck and into the hole....DS has been working out a lot lately...so he's pretty strong. Apparently it was quite a job....I was out shopping. ;)

DH says a tree that size would have cost at least $800. He is proud of himself! I had to show him on here the compliments on the palm.

Yes Crissy & Trisha - the weather here has been odd....heavy snow one day in winter...June was as hot / drought as July last year...

Dragonflies are pretty ....The day I had my tantrum and ran away to the river...I wished I had my camera...I could have sworn one was hanging out with me... :)

Hugs,
Mary

The dragonflies lay their eggs just above the water on a plant stalk and when they hatch the larva go down in the water where they live for two yrs eating mosquito larva and tiny fish and then turn into a dragonfly. BEV

One of our Dragonflies is a Red one!! They are so pretty!

Mary you tell him "he done good"......I would love to find a deal like that!!!

Wow, thanks Bev! What do they eat once they've become dragonflies? And how long do they live?

Still storming here, not much to do except rest..had some severe weather watch..omg, for a second I thought I was at your house Shar..much the same..

Debbie, are you ok, they thought perhaps a tornado landed just south of your area...

Mary, he did get a bargain then, didn't realize palm trees were so expensive...bet it's the perfect tree for your back yard...

Crissy, hard to make a man admit he's not well..let's hope he doesn't do serious damage to himself...

Very rare to see dragonflies here..we do get those nasty June bugs though..

Had company off and on all day..

Talked to mom a little earlier and she told me Sharon had to put one of her American Eskimo dogs down, Keluk I believe..know she'll be distraught..gave her a call, left message..I would think she's depressed and not answering the telephone..will try again later..

Guess I should turn off computer and settle in for the night...

Good Lord willing we'll gab tomorrow..
Night/night

Have a good night Betty....sending a (((hug))) for Sharon....I know how difficult that is......

Crissy, I don't know the answers to either of your ??? The only reason I knew what I said was that I used to have aquariums in the house and I brought some fish in and there was a I called it a larva but no it is what they call a nymph. It was in the aquarium and I looked it up. I took him back to the pond. Nite all see you in the morning!!! BEV

I am on DH's laptop. Power keeps going out and storms all around. Has been like this off and on all afternoon, but the last two hours very very bad.

At least at Shars I was with wonderful company and felt very safe. I have spent the majority of the day cleaning up pictures and trying to organize.

I have a feeling I will be off to the doctors tomorrow for my swelling. Ugh.

Sweet dreams, I am going to try and turn in....with pillow over my head for this lightening. Winds have been gusting quite high.

Have a good night Debbie.....wish you could send your storm here....we need rain and I love to listen to thunder and watch the lightening!

Morning all,

Debbie, had much the same..didn't get much rest, will have to do so at work..lol

Fighting with Sailor these past 2 days, can't get her outside when storming..

Did manage to talk to Sharon, got things a bit mixed up..Keluk became ill quite suddenly, she took him to the vets and he was filled with cancer..said no choice in putting Keluk down...when I said she half expected it she said no it was 'Coors' that had a growth and they said she might have to put him down, so today she's off to the vets for xray to see if there is any change, if it has grown she'll do same ...

Her dogs are her life, as you know, she shows her dogs, one just won best of breed at the New York City show..quite an achevement..she said perhaps it's time she gives up breeding and showing..for her to say that I know she's distraught..the last 5 puppies which are 8 weeks old, 4 are going to homes in 2 weeks, she was keeping best of the group for showing purposes but now she thinks she'll let her go to the lady from Quebec who has already given her a deposit for one of the next litter...

Sharon said that she has a friend who does animal cremation and she drove Keluk to his business location on Friday and picked him up yesterday...wish I had known, would have driven to Orangeville and gone with her...

That's my sad story for the day!

Love the photo Bev...

Debbie, off to the Doctor's first thing this morning..Paul is off this week and know you wanted to do things but it will have to wait, your health is far more important...might be a stronger med. that can rid the fluid...

Weather is still heavy, more storms forcasted for today..

Got a call this morning, Mike my youngest brother to let me know my niece had her baby...little boy call Evan 6lbs.15oz...just too excited..could be more excited though had it been a girl...

Should not have unpacked my bags...heading to Philadelphia on the 21st for 3 or 4 days with sister Sharon...

I just came from telling Cathy that I wouldn't need her house sitting for awhile and here I am, back on the road...lol

Forgot to add, most likely I can get a few more treasures at Cracker Barrel...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty that's too bad about your sister's dogs.
Cracker Barrel, I didn't realize they had such good prices on things, it looks so pricey I just never thought of it. That will be fun, I've never been to Philadelphia and I probably won't be going anytime soon, closest I'll get anytime real soon is Parking Wars. LOL Dang I am tired today!
