Cat invasion

Thanks!
I checked out your pictures. MAN you have a beautiful yard! And lots of room to keep growing ;) Lawn? Who needs it LOL!

I used to get yelled at something awful for ripping out lawn.
"Where are we gonna play football if you keep ripping the lawn out?"
"You don't play football what are you saying?"
"But I might START. Then you'll just yell at me for stepping on your flowers!"
"I already do."

How long since you drop kicked the joker out. Maybe he was just picking a fight because it was so much fun making up? I'm glad you enjoyed the pics. If there is one thing a gardener or a flower person wants is for someone to see the results. I love to see a well kept yard and garden. Maybe I'm wrong It seems to me you can tell a lot about a person by how he keeps his yard. There is a pleasure there that I don't have the words to express. All the men in Louisiana either hunt or fish and think something is wrong with you if you don't. Me I could care less about either or what they think. I love to work in my yard. Sorry about the rambling.

Big ugly dogs. Hmm...does my English Bulldog count? :)

Delhi, LA

English Bulldog definitely count.

(Zone 5b)

I read through this whole thread & almost forgot what I was going to say...lol
Lainymay there are 2 houses in my neighborhood with cats on leashes.....one gets walked on a leash, the other I've seen tied up in the yard on a lead...looks more like a sitting duck than a cat to me.

Our golden thinks any cat wandering into his backyard is an automatic playtoy. The squirrels, however, torment him mercilessly and look like they are having a ball. They toss sticks down at him. Speaking of non-gardening exes lol....the straw that broke the camels back and sent me to divorce court was my ex saying that no garden beds were allowed in HIS yard because planting things meant digging holes. The logic behind that escaped me so he has his yard all to himself now and I have a wonderful garden and an adorable golden retriever that is obsessed with digging holes.

Delhi, LA

Well babeegirl, I'm all for digging holes. Don't mind a bit as long as I am the one holding the shovel. Holes filled with beautiful flowers are my thing. The dog, however, would have to go. Maybe the next time around you can find a man that likes to dig and will sit beside your chair and pant and let you scratch his ears. Worked for my wife for 48 years.

Westerly, RI

you could always teach a dog to garden:D

(Zone 7a)

(chuckling) Here, Boy! Dig here! That's right. Good boy!

Delhi, LA

I'm lovin it!!

Babeegirl
Ya no gardens in the yard would have done it for me too. I like the fact you let your dog dig holes. Feels good to do the things you always wanted to but couldn't doesn't it? Even letting the dog dig :) "Dig away my friend, dig away!"

My ex was allergic to animals so when we got divorced I got a dog, a cat, and I have 4 fish tanks (but they aren't all together so it isn't too scary). The aquariums have plants, my windows are crammed with plants, I'll know right away if the next guy can handle it LOL! If he sees my place & starts screaming that'll just save me time ;)

Jim
I've been divorced 2 1/2 years. We were married 8 1/2 but we've known each other for 21 years. We're still friends though. Of course living in separate states helps that. Sadly when I got the papers my divorce was final I did the happy dance right where I was standing.

Delhi, LA

Ican, you are truly a mess. I think your ex messed up big time when he let you get away. We've been married so long we can't even remember when we weren't.

LOL! Correction, I WAS a mess. Now I'm happy as can be!
What? Was it the four fish tanks? They aren't 50 gallon tanks ;)

Delhi, LA

Naw honey, a mess down here where I live, means you are a bunch of fun and good to be with.

Ah! All righty then! LOL!!!!!

Did you all know that there is a dg member whose screen name is "ImaMes" ??? Too funny !

That is funny. There are some pretty cute screen names on DG :)

Delhi, LA

Wish I had been more imaginative. I just used my name and model #

West Palm Beach, FL

Ahh, so you come stamped from the factory, huh Jim? I haven't found my model number yet, but I'll keep looking =P

Delhi, LA

Born in 1941. Dad bought a brand new chevy in 1940 and got a new son in '41.

West Palm Beach, FL

That's cool. So I guess I should be Grant85...lol...

Westerly, RI

Dont forget about training him to plant the trees!!

Delhi, LA

Grant if you are an 85 model, then you are barely out of diapers. Golly, maybe I ought to change mine to Gramps. Looks like I'm old enough to be your Grandpa.

West Palm Beach, FL

LOL Jim. Haven't you heard that 68 is the new 40?

Delhi, LA

Well, I tell you the truth, my mind and want too's are at about the 40's level but somewhere along about there the old bod breaks down. Seriously, In the years we have pastored, Jo and I never had much in common with people our age. They were just to old for us. Wanted to sit around and watch TV and do nothing. We always ran with the young married people. We liked to play music and sing, go eat pizza and go bowling and roller skate. Shucks, I could out roller skake the kids when I was sixty. Lost my balance because of diabetese and decided I'd better quit before I broke something. Still like all the rest. I left the full time pastorate so we could move back to our own home and took an associate pastorate. Still put about 30,000 miles on my car doing hospital visits and community visiting. In our spare time we have an acre of yard that we keep up plus I like to do raised bed gardening. Kept about half the widow ladies in fresh veggies and a bunch of the younguns, too. Used to get so mad at my dad when I was a kid because he could never sit still. Always was working at something and when he worked I had to be right along side. Now I am just like the old rascal. Email me at jimgoodman1@hotmail.com and I will send you an invitation to view my lawn and garden photos on Kodak Share. Have a great day.

I just noticed that today is Jim41's birthday !
Happy 40th !

Delhi, LA

Well, JasperDale you missed it a few days. July 14th was the day the evil deed was done. Made my momma happy the day I was born, cause pappy refused to quit without a son. Reason I got so many sisters. I am 68.
Sweet thang, Grantman was trying to cheer me up saying that's the new 40. Told the little lady of the house that and she liked to have laughed herself to death. Don't that beat all. I was planning on hiring us a real preach we celebrate our fifthe anniversary but it's gonna take a heap of sweet talk fore I blow another $5 for a preacher. Thankie just the same though. The little woman didn't even acknowledge I had one. I take that back, she went to the mall and bouht me a new dress and a pair of shoes. In her size of course.

(Zone 5b)

Grant 60 is the new 40, I think 68 is the new 50 heeheehee.....
just kidding Jim! And Happy Birthday! hey, wait a minute, didn't we just celebrate your birthday with stolen virtual cake?? How many birthdays are you having this month? You in some kind of rush to get to 70? Hw many sisters do you have? I have a lot of sisters too. Can yours be a little annoying sometimes?

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I could swear you were listed on yesterday's birthday list...

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I was looking at the wrong list...you're under "new subscribers". LOL

Delhi, LA

That's alright JasperDale, at my age I'll take what I can get. I did just subscribe. Figured the price was worth it if I could find some pictures of some of you. Only found one I knew on the threads, GrammyJo. Not through looking yet. Will not quit until I get a look at all of you. Looked around on some of the other forums for members only and discovered those guys are no fun at all. To serious for me.

I have four sisters, Lynnie, and all of them jealous of me. Momma loved me the best. My wife has five sisters. Had a lot of brothers-in-laws at one time. My sisters killed all of theirs off. Told them the other day, I had nick named them the "Black Widows." After the spider, don't you know. The baby girl of the bunch is 75. Just snagged her a brand new hubby. Asked me to marry them. I warned that ole boy he didn't have long for this world, marrying up with one of my sisters. Apparently, he is a gambler. Did it anyway. Offered him a special on a wedding plus one funeral. Cut that joker a real deal. He wouldn't go for it. Oh well, you can only try. Got to supliment SS someway.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

OK, I just found and read this thread.
My oldest cat, Simba, played in the garden with me when he was a young kitten and I was weeding it. Mom never had a problem with our cats using the garden or her flower beds as litter boxes.

Yes, I said oldest one Jim...............I have 3 of them :p
All rescue cats in some way. And Jim, when I met my boyfriend, he had 2 house cats.
His oldest one died in my arms october 5th of last year. She was 17 years old.

Ok back to my oldest one. He will hold his own with any dog that comes into the house, It's rather funny when he stands up to dogs that are 4 times as big as him. And you know what? They have to be really big then, because he can't wear a harness anymore. They don't make cat ones big enough for him.

I had to do a comparison shot of him for my BF's daughter, before she got to see him.
This is the only thing I could think of to compair him with so she would get the idea as to how big he is. And he's not stretched out in this picture.
He will try to get out the front or back door any chance he gets.

Thumbnail by kassy_51

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

She just happens to love to lay in flower pot. She doesn't care what is in them ^_^

(Zone 5b)

What happens if you're not a gardener but discover after you get married that you are? lol My husband is a sweetie, he not only puts up with my new obsession (2 years old now) he helps me.
Kassy those pictures are cute, esp the one in the pepper plant.
Jim I have 6 sisters....they're very loud & annoying, not like me ;)

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

OMG Lynn, I have one of her the tree.. The Christmas tree that is!

Lynn and Jim, I have one sister........very selfish. Not like me at all. I keep saying mom found her on the door step..........LOL
She was the only one in the family that did not have blond hair when we were little.

Ah good husband! If he's into building things that could be a great outlet.

I have a friend (now passed) that I used to go nursery hopping with. Sometimes her honey of 35 years would drive us around and even insisted on pulling the cart at the nursery.
One shopping spree there were 3 of us girls and her honey in their SUV. Towards the end of our spree we had so many plants we had them on our laps & my friend remembered one more nursery. We were looking around the car and decided we still had room around our feet! He drove us there with a smile. Buncha crazy women! It was quite the scene unloading their car and packing ours to leave. Now that was a shopping spree, I was broke afterwards but it sure was fun!
Her honey dabbled in veggies but mainly I heard about the fact he forgot to water her plants whenever she was gone LOL!

LOL Kassy! I haven't been brave enough to have a Christmas tree yet with my cat. He's a nut! Maybe I'll try a small one this year with unbreakable ornaments.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

We have to put unbreakable ornaments on ours. Buddy some times follows baby up the tree.....LOL And Buddy sure likes to knock the ornaments off.
I'm a little worried this coming Christmas, because Babie now goes with me to my BF's all the time, and I put all my Hallmark Ornaments on that tree. Believe it or not, it's a lot of cat ornaments...........LOL
I think I have almost all of them that Hallmark makes or has made except for a couple of older ones......but I'm still hunting for them.
