I have had Polly since he was 5 months old.He is about 15 months old now and he has never bit the blood out of me.I was shocked that Polly would not let go and the man had to shake him off his finger back in the box.
Trisha,that sounds good..
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞151
Just finished up Cody, and if I do say so myself it Was pretty good! Or maybe I was just Hungry!
LOL!!!Still sounds good to me Trisha.
Hi Ladies,
I am off to work and will chat with you all when I get home... Hey girls coffee is on and smelling wonderful..... Had a wonderful time with Grandson.... yeahhhhhh.
Hugs,
Susan
Love the plumeria... I have about 70 some of them....LOL
Seems like everyone is having a good time with grandkids :) These ladies have been in the kitchen for 10 minutes pouring a cup of coffee. There are other people here that need coffee!! Go chat in your office so people can get into the kitchen. GGGGRRRRRR
Morning everyone. Coffee is ready, grab a cup, and come out to the back yard. Were watching the hummer's fly around.
LK
As far as any pressie go...I'll never tell...until it gets there. You'll just have to wait, BJ. An it is a "just because.." present.
LK is your knee operation still on for next week? I've had you on my mind all morning and just had to ask. How is DH doing now?
I think I'm having sympathy pain over here for LK, my knee is bothering me a bit and it doesn't usually do that.
WOW Janice... I love "no occasion" pressies... that's even better than b'day and Christmas presents... I'm gonna be watching that postman pretty close now.
One of these days, LK, I'm gonna do that... I'm just going to take off and drive, and end up at your house... and sit in your back yard and watch your hummingbirds with you... and sip your coffee. I'm praying that your knee surgery goes well.
Lovely blooms Jaye... I haven't taken my camera out to do blooms in a while... might have to do that here soon before they're all gone.
FINALLY, Don has found a mission to today... he's had the last two days off, and is off for a week more... Sun and Mon he just couldn't muster any ambition... but, today he's going and blowing. He's decided to paint the shop building... was up before daylight... at the paint store when they opened... and is now prepping the building... "whew"... so glad he's finally busy... he drives me crazy when he's bored.
My sister inspired me to work on my clay projects again. I guess I was feeling a bit of a failure because nothing seemed to come out right before I stopped ... but she got to looking at some of my things, and really liked them... made some suggestions... and actually picked up some clay herself to try her hand at it... I suppose because she's an artist, and has very discriminating taste, and doesn't offer compliments very readily... that's what inspired me. So... I'm picking it up again.
I'm leaving for Austin on Friday for a training seminar for AFS... then I'll be home Sunday late afternoon to repack, and fly out Mon morn with Don for Denver... the annual company thing we go to every year... Then... I'll only have 3 weeks to get Ina's room ready for her ... I'm thinking I need to "girly" it up a bit.
Good day ladies!
It's cooling off a bit here, like in the low 80's.. nothing like Janice's heavenly weather, still thankful I can do something without getting out of breath after a few minutes.
Had a couple of showers and that cuts down the watering time. Amen for a little liquid gold too.
Phyllis, it depends what crosses your brug is, some buds will revert back to one of it's parents. Still, all brugs are beautiful and can be the downfall of some of us :D
Hey Susan, you need to show off the blooms of your frangipani/plumerias. I gave away about 20 the year before and have only 6 left. Don't have much room for overwintering.
Do you know back in Singapore, the flowers are used for funerals. They grow big frangipani trees, and everblooming. When I was small, I was terrified to walk at night under a frangipani tree, as I was told that's where ghosts like to hide, on account of the strong fragrance.
BJ, you do great clay work!!!! Don't need your sister to tell you that!!!
Now I'm mad... been telling you that!! Just because I can't sculpt nor paint....doesn't mean I don't have an eye for good art work. When I look at some stuffs and they look like crappola to me, I keep my mouth shut! But your work isn't average!
Come on now sistah! Look at the lightbulb critters.. they are awesome!!!!!!
Crissy... sympathy pains?? Now why do you have to bring that up. Power of suggestion is contagious! Ouch... my right knee just starts twitching..
LK, thanks for the coffee sweetie. Wanted to fix breakfast, but Kel says we're running late as usual. Managed to take a few just for prayers.
No hummers here, yet. Plenty of bees though and wasps.. want to watch wasps.. they certainly act like predators of the insect world.
Afternoon to all of you.....cloudy and a light mist falling right now....wish it would turn into a real rain for the day....we soooo need a good rain.
Just saw our little Hummer over in mom's hanging baskets...rest of my feathered visitors are staying in hiding until the mist stops:(
Good weather to get some things done inside....
LK, keeping you in our prayers...
BJ, glad your sis was able to boost your confidence.....WE all know you do beautiful work!
Have a great afternoon, talk to everyone later....
BJ your clay work is fabulous!! The piece you sent me is a treasure. I've done a lot clay work over the years and I know what I'm talking about. I have all my clay packed away right now because I don't have room on the work table for 2 different kinds of media, but I'm getting that itchy feeling to do some again. Now that I have sistahs to send it to. :0D I used to do a lot of jewelry work and polymer beads for sale. It was a pretty good deal for a while. Then I got tired of selling a little bit of my soul everyday. Now I won't sell any of my artwork. I'm only giving it to people I like.
Jaye, is the Conco a daylily? I know so little about daylilies. Didn't realize there were fragrant ones. Gotta have one if it smells good.
LK hang in there with that knee. It will be over and be better before you know it.
Geez I wish I lived closer to you ladies.
This picture is a San Miguel charita that someone sent me last year in a houseplant swap. I had no idea it would bloom. Too cool!
Later for now,
Juanita
Juanita, I know you like me enough to send a piece of yourself!!! Still adore the candlestick!! Looks like Slavic art.
And thank you for letting BJ know she's truly a good polymer artist;)
Conco D'or is an Asiatic Lily. If you can grow DLs, you can grow ALs for sure. Very low maintenance, just need well draining soil. But the fragrance.. stronger than DLs.
See you all in a bit. I'm so looking forward to doing housework!!!!
(GRIN)
Awwww.... thank you all so much... but I guess I got discouraged when I was trying new things, and just kept failing at them... Sister Jo taught me that I should stick to my comfort zone, until I felt more courageous to learn something new... and keep going back to the things I am comfortable with when I fail at the new thing... but not to give up. I know, you all tell me the same things, guess I just had to hear it from "the artist" in the family.
So... I'm sticking with the glass jars, bottles, and tuna cans for now... she loved the ones she saw here, and I told her about the ones I sent to you all... she said to stick to that...
She also said there's a lot of polymer clay jewelry artists, but not a lot of people repurposing glass jars and bottles, and I could sell them because people are always looking for recycled (green friendly) things. I really do enjoy covering them too... so, you can expect to see more of them from me.
However... don't any of you think I don't listen... you are my encouragement everyday... and I love you all for your words that keep me going ...
LOL I do have sympathy pains. All my joints seem to hurt at some point in time or another, means I have sympathy pains for everyone!
Does your brain hurt sometimes? Well, that's me you're having sympathy for when you do... my brain hurts most of the time from thinking too hard on stuff.
BJ does your brain hurt right now? I'm trying to find the balance in this bank statement and it doesn't matter what I subtract or add to what, nothing comes out to the balance that's missing. It should be on the bank statement but not in the paperwork, I can't find it anywhere. Talk about brain hurt, I've been working on this for 2 days now and still can't find it.
My brain hurts more when BJ poses challenges.. like the glass jar repurpose swap.. :0)
Off with Windtalker.. to do some serious damage on grilled catfish.
Where is our venerable Maid M??
Cya later ladies!
Afternoon everyone.
Hubby just went to the Dr, for a follow up, and he still says no work till maybe next week.
So I will still not be online much, as hubby wants my attention more... LOL
My knee surger is still scheduled for the 16th. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.
Talk to you all later.
LK
I wish I could say my brain hurts but it doesn't LOL
but I do know I have to figure out a way to be able to do my stained glass work and stay cool doing it.
I can do some in the house but then I have to go out to do the grinding and that means cleaning off the bend in the shed and finding something flat to cut on since it is a lil bent. ..and hope that dh doesn't need to do anything out there so I can leave it set up
Got a rather personal question for any of that have done the menopause thing. Don't know who else to ask. :0). Did any of you gain a bunch of weight when you were going through menopause? Were you able to lose it after you got through? I am so depressed right now. The hot flashes are getting worse and I have gained 30 pounds in the last 2 years with this. No matter what I do I can't lose an ounce. I do manual labor for a living and you would think this wouldn't be an issue, but alas....
The Dr. says my thyroid is fine and everything is great and no one except me seems to be bothered by this. Somebody just shoot me and put me out of my misery.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Juanita
Hey Jaunita not gonna shot ya but I hear ya I am starting to go through it and have gained too ...I have found though if I cut back or cut out the sodas and push the water it seems to help some ...mind you I am not losing it like I want but it has helped some.
other then that I have no idea
Thanks Phyllis. I don't drink soda anyway and I'm trying to get plenty of water. It is just frustrating when nothing works and I'd feel better if I thought I had a chance of losing some it when this was over.
Not alone there Juanita. I gained too. Like you, I had plenty of workouts at work to burn enough calories.. wasn't a sedentary job.
Now, my weight increase is more on acct. of the meds and an increase passion for food :(
I am here! Son and his family's camping trip had to be canceled as DIL was called back to work yesterday. I have been called into service baby sitting the granddaughters. Left early thirty this morning and didn't get home until 7 ish. I guess it could have been worse as they do have jobs but they take this week every year and go camping with the girls. Actually might have been for the best as the weather has been bad and is suppose to continue all week. Heavy rains and winds. I came home tonight to a huge limb down in the front yard. Just missed the front part of the house and my plants.
Will not be up late as I am tired and I am still trying to finish up some things before I leave Friday.

Pretty sure the girls are glad to see their granma. Wonder what stories they have churned for you today..
Have a good night's sleep Maid M.
Weather not very good today so no stories. Mostly siting as close to Grandma as they could as the thunder really bothers them. Read lots of books for a change.
Off to take my clothes out of the dryer, fold and put away and off to beddy bye!!
Crissy... head really doesn't hurt... just feels muddled a lot... kinda spacey...
Reconciling bank statements is one thing I don't miss about working... was one of the things I had to do too... check for transposed numbers... that was usually my mistake.
The menopause weight gain game... hmmm... I think that's normal... at least everyone I know went through that. I don't know if it's normal to loose it after it's over or not... I lost some of it, but I didn't diet... but most women I know didn't... but that might have had something to do with the new mind set they acquired while going through the change, and it just didn't matter any more.
Off to bed, here... nighty night all.
Juanita if I stay on the low fat "Weight Watchers" eating plan I can get the weight off...I just go off the wagon and into the pizza etc. too often.....yes you can take it off...lower fat and portion control....and a good deal of will power. I am also starting a walking program in addition to my bike rides.....we will see if it helps....I need to get off of the beer and hard cider after rides....that would help a lot too...it all goes straight to my middle:(
Have a good night everyone...
Staying active is the key to losing weight. Juanita, BJ and you Trisha should have no problem. Wonder if that low fat WW program will work for me?
Since I'm having trouble sleeping.. might as well seize this time to wish our very own turtle and Chihuahua lover.. great animal friend... Susan.... a very happy birthday.
Happy Birthday Susan. May you have the best day ever and wishing you great health, pressies you really need and most of all, God's blessings always.
Love you Susan!
Well..did a laundry load..loaded up the dishwasher..disrupted Dallas and Merlin's sleep..might as well fix breakfast.
Coffee's on. How about some banana nut muffins this morning?
If you need protein, scrambled eggs with some diced ham thrown in.
Trisha, is that red flower a Bee Balm/Monarda? So pretty.
Have a good day ladies.

Morning ladies! Thanks for the breakfast Jaye!
Hope your all doing well. I went in for my pre op lab work, and EKG! We will be gone Thursday and Friday. We have to drive to San Angelo for my back Dr. follow up. And yes, we get to go to Outback Steakhouse for dinner. We will do our best to not have the real greasy, and spicy things, but the french onion soup is a must! Maybe a nice salad to go with it?
I went to Wal mart yesterday, and almost all of the fabric section is gone. Very little fabric and notions left! What a shame. So this means I need to watch the swaps I get into, as far as sewing is involved. If I need fabric I have to drive to San Antonio for it. Pretty sad!
As far as menopause goes, I think our bodies just slow down, and the metabolism, slows down too! Not much we can do about that. If there is a solution, please let me kow!
Hello to everyone out there! Ladies, there are a bunch of ya missing, and not posting for what ever reason. We are all thinking of you. Hope your doing OK.
Happy Birthday Susan! Hope you have a GREAT day!
LK

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSAN!!
Jaye what kind of flowers are those? Between the freeways coming into downtown there's a center part of the freeway that's wide and a 'wildlife area.' There are these big white flowers that grow every summer from mid-July through mid Sept and they look a lot like those in the pic.
Happy Birthday Susan. LK can you shop on-line? I find if you shop around, you can get some pretty good deals. Check out the sites in the sewing forum sticky (first post) They might help.
Happy Birthday Susan!!! Hope it turns out to be a great day of fun and relaxation.
Thanks everyone for the input. I guess my practically non existent metabolism has now gone completely AWOL. Will just have to wait until this is over and see what I can do then. In the meantime I will avoid mirrors like the plague! LOL
Juanita
Mirrors aren't what they are cracked up to be anyway. I think more of them should be cracked!!!!!
