Too funny Barb. I guess if I draped the one in the bathroom with black cloth DH might wonder huh? :0)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

It's FIL 2nd day of chemo today, and Kel let me sleep in.
Found out what caused the church sister's fatal accident. She was hit by a car that's crossing and the driver was on her cell phone.. not paying attention. Church sister was driving without a seat belt, and got thrown out of her SUV. That was a boxy SUV, and according to the police, it was just bumped on the front corner, and the SUV rolled over one too many in the momentum, and caused her to be ejected.

I don't use the cell phone while driving and neither does Kel. It should be illegal to do so in all states.
Almost got hit by a Houston bus when my friend's husband was taking his cell phone call. Your attention can be elsewhere for 1 second.. but it takes only a second for tragedy to happen.

LK, I shop online a lot. And sometimes it's cheaper too. Just consider the shipping charges as your gas and time, saved.

Crissy, those are plumerias. They are very tropical and can't survive temps below 40's. The blooms exude a sweet scent, and according to my culture's folklore, attract ghosts and especially vampires.

Lol Barb!!
I avoid mirrors like a plague. Funny, when I was waaaaay younger, I have to stop when there's a mirror!! Ahh.. youth.. thy name is vanity!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Happy Birthday Susan!!!!

Yes Jaye, the red one is my Monarda....so far not blooming as well as last year , maybe it will improve if we get our warm weather back....low 60's, a slight wind and misty this morning.

Metabolism......I have just picked up a little book called "Walking Off Weight" a workbook for a "14day, 14 step program to Lasting Weight Loss".....and it makes a lot of sense....

it is written by 3 Doctors and says that Diets Are NOT The Answer......to increase metabolism you have to move the large muscles, (gaining muscle increases metabolism, losing muscle lowers metabolism)...This is where the walking program comes in......And food....Day by day reduce intake of Fats ( all hard cheeses, cheesecake, anything fried, red meat, cakes and chocolates, butter and margarine, nuts and peanut butter, bacon, sausage, ice cream, whole milk products, salad dressings and most Fast Foods.

Increase intake of Complex Carbs: Pears, bananas, apples, oranges, oatbran muffins, whole grain breads, wholegrain pancakes (with fruit, not syrup), pasta, potatoes green beans, corn, soups, carrots, tomatoes, green leafy veggies, lowfat or non fat dairy products.....

It really is a good book....and it starts you out in baby steps...doesn't expect you to go out a walk five miles on your first day.....I got the pedometer that measures the number of steps you take in a day (not miles)....also some ladies have started a walking thread on the Healthy Living Forum.....I figure what have I got to loose except some unwanted weight!

Well those aren't Plumarias then, it gets into the teens here sometimes. It's something with huge white flowers just like those, is perennial, and blooms every summer during the hottest months.

Ha!! Pasta IS a good carb when it's eaten properly! I'm copying and printing that out! I love walking but my knee doesn't. I so need to get that tear sanded down. Thanks for posting that information Trisha. Hows Laura? It was great seeing her post the other day.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good advice there Trisha, it makes sense.
Got a treadmill at home, need to use it diligently. Sometimes I don't have the energy to turn it on!! Food wise, I love rare steaks.. that's my downfall. I need a trainer!!

Crissy, it might be a plumeria that's acclimatised to the weather. Check if the leaves are long and oval like and the blooms waxy.
Blue sky vine is supposedly to be very tropical. Last year, I threw one pot away as I thought it's dead. Well, the pot was covered with a litter of other unused pots. Lo and behold, this spring, when I was tidying up pots, there was this growth..
The darndest thing was it snowed last year!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh shoot Jaye, I'll have to wait for an accident to happen, normally when I drive by the traffic is moving @ 60mph and there's no good place to stop and take a pic, cop haven and it's on the interstate. I have no idea on your quiz, a typical female beginning puberty LOL

Susan I'm glad you're having a great birthday, even though no air!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Afternoon,
We got home last night around 6:30pm, left at 4:30 am. When my cousin makes her coffee it is like tea. So for 3 weeks I drank "tea". So Monday night I told my mom that we were stopping for gas and I was getting some real coffee for the long drive home. Well, I did a 24 oz. So needless to say I had to make lots of potty stops. I hit just about every rest stop there was, lol. It is so good to be home, but I'm pooped. We went and got our mail this morning the shopping for food and I haven't done anything else. I want to post some pictures but with this dial-up and kids being on summer vacations it take a so long that they won't post. I get a message saying I'm not connected. I'm calling Directv and ordering statelite internet!!!!! Mom can keep her darn dial-up. Plus I need to connect my tv in my bedroom. Mom doesn't watch the same shows I watch. She watches GSN all day long!! Same old, same old, lol.

I have lots of flowers in bloom, lilies, dahlias, bee balm, dark purple clematis and took pictures but will have to wait until later to post.

I'm not going to be on much in the next few days. Have a lot of things to get done outside brought home some Iris and day lilies form Sissy's so I need to get them in the ground.

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

glad to see you posting Cindy. was wondering about you. glad you are home and home safe. enjoy those flowers.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Glad you're back Cindy!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I know what you mean about coffee that's so weak, we might as well call it dishwater!!! Give me Community Dark Roast!
Now take your time with the pics.. relax a bit.. you need a staycation after a vacation!
Welcome home Cindy!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

No kidding. I think the driving did me in. it was so windy coming home that I had to keep both hands on the steering wheel to keep the car in the lane. I need a new monitor for my pc also. I've been trying to save some money to get one, but there always something else that takes a chunk of my check each month. And I hate this dial-up urrrrr!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Preach it to this choir sistah!!! I'm on dial-up too.
By the time a whole city is built on the moon..... this community will still be on dial up!!! Lol!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

May have to do with the full moon but it was not a great day today....really tired and didn't do anything today except watch the Tour de France and cooking shows.....

...received word this afternoon that my cousin in Oklahoma has had a heart attack....we will know more tomorrow.....Please keep Al and his wife Mary in your prayers.....

Sage's visitation with her mother was cancelled tonight as Holly was involved in an auto accident....don't know who was at fault or any details...but thankfully she wasn't hurt.

My raspberries are doing fantastically!!! Sage is out picking berries now....maybe we will have pancakes with Raspberries for breakfast in the morning.....raspberries and Yoghurt for dessert....raspberries on our salads.....sooo many good ideas!! And they fit in with the Walking/ Low GI Food Plan we are starting also.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You got it sistah Trisha. Posted up there already.. will definitely include Al in my prayers.
I am sure more went into Sage's mouth than the container! We had raspberries last year, and after the season, Kel 'mowed' the tree down!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks Jaye.

These are raspberry plants we got form Bill's mother several years ago...a start from Raspberries his dad took care of that came from a Raspberry Farm that used to be in that area before the houses were built over fifty years ago....they are really good berries!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Well, I'm going to bed now. Poor Kel was by himself today. So will try to accompany him tomorrow morning.
Oh, btw.. Murdock's second chemo treatment went smoothly. No panic attacks.
Kind souls, please continue to pray for us that need them..

Love you all!
Good night.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

((((hugs and Prayers)))) Have a good night.......

Jaye, So very sorry to hear of your Church Sister. Sending prayers and an Armwrap to you. ((((( )))))

BJ, How adorable you and your Sister are!! Glad you had a great visit.

OHHHH, Deborah, Simply adorable you and Riley, I just love it!

Wedding was wonderful, as was just being home on a good occasion! Weather was perfect.
And the Best, coming home to call upon Skittles wellbeing and Ohwah!! He is now home with us!
LOL, had to go buy him some toys and spent all my allowance...We have been having fun watching and playing with him, poor little guy poops out pretty quick, but then he is just a baby.

Donna, Nice to see you, Wow, what a great photo!

Good day everyone!
You're early today Cody. Sounds happy too! Alex must be behaving, or your hands are feeling better.

Donna, join the club of can't do without glasses. As in my case, it's bifocals!! Tony might be able to wear contacts when he's more responsible.
Glad to read you have neighbours willing to share their plants with you. That should be illegal, getting rid of mature hostas!! Lol.. she doesn't know us DGers.
To me, climbing a mountain is for the goats!!! I'll just use the car to maneuver up a mountain!
Time to train Bella, Donna. Your kids will appreciate it.

Looks like everyone's busy today. Maid M., if you haven't left yet... we pray you have a safe and wonderful trip. Tell Kim hello. Just don't forget to recharge or get more batteries for your camera. Pretty sure you'll be bringing JD with you ;)

Welcome home Judy!!
Can't wait for pictures.. come on now.. don't hold out on us!!
Hi Skittles.. you're a cute l'il thing. I wish I could start having birds in this house.. not with 5 cats around!!

Off to the garden!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BTW Judy, I'm on "People of the Nightland". Hehehe... have a lot of explaining to do why I haven't read the bible this week!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Donna tell your neighbor not to toss them, if she has extra Hostas she needs to send them our way!!

Judy, Skittles is soooo cute!!! Know you are having a lot of fun with him.

Afternoon Jaye.....going to try an head out to the yard soon....did absolutely nothing yesterday.....so tired of gray skies...it is suppose to clear up and warm up and wish it would hurry!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Yeppers, we have dial up here too. Probably have to go to the moon for high speed Jaye. :0)

Came home early today. I did a dumb thing and took a pretty nasty fall last evening. On top of pushing the mower around last week, I am pretty well jammed up as it were. Taking the afternoon off to rest a little and try to heal. I really dislike this getting old thing.

Donna who is Bella?? Hope you are feeling better soon. Guess we are lucky we didn't break anything.

Off to the shower for a soak.

Later gals,
Juanita

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Haven't left yet--Friday about 1 pm I leave for Gainesville to pick up my friend and on to Orlando. We fly out at 10:15 Saturday morning. 2 baterties, both charged and 2 cards for pictures. Will that do? Nope JD is staying home this time. I know shocking isn't it? LOL

I was babysitting the girls until their Dad got home then I came home to finish up last minute things. Tonight we are going for pizza. I do have a problem in that the 4 years is really mad at me as I am not taking her with me. Try explaining no passport and Mommy and Daddy won't let you go to a 4 year old!!! A hard headed one at that. Love her anyway!!!

Jaye I will say hello to Kim for sure. She emailed me today she is really sad it has gone so quickly as she really has enjoyed the challenge it presented. She needs that every now and then. BTW, she and her little brother, Carlos, are going to see At World's End tomorrow night. Apparently the family she is staying with are all addicted to the Pirate movies too. What a perfect place to have her stay.

Well I need to go fold the last of the laundry.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Not a good day. I had to put my 13 yr. old retriever to sleep this morning. She had been diagnosed with tumers last summer and this past month she had been going down hill. Last night she laid down and couldn't get up so I knew it was time. Luckily she didn't seem to be in any pain. Just looked at me as if she knew I would do the right thing for her. Went to sleep in my arms.

It's going to be hard to live with a dog. This one especially was so gentle, loving and laid back she will be hard for any other to follow.

Thumbnail by ladydragon5
FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Janice I feel for you. I know what that is like. I said I wouldn't have another dog, but it helps if you can get another sooner rather than later. Putting my husky down was one of the worst days of my life. I am so sorry.

Juanita

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Janice, so very sorry.....Porter is eleven and has the tumors also and I see her going downhill more each week....I am afraid we are not far off....and I don't know how we will make it through the ordeal, she is so much a part of us. (((HUGS)))

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Janice, sending loving thoughts your way. It never ceases to amaze me how our furry friends are really family members. Gentle hugs your way also...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Juanita, Bella is Donna's lab. She's their youngest 'baby'!

Too precocious your grandchildren. I don't blame them for wanting to go with you, especially to be able to see their Auntie Kim. Maid M.. you must be prepared with answers all the time, huh?

So sorry Janice. A very difficult thing to do to let go of a beloved pet.
It's never easy..
Ali, who's 12 has tumours too. I don't know whether I'll be as brave as you.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh Janice,
So sorry to hear that. That is what happened to my Bucky. I had him put to sleep on Nov 1st last year and had also lost his daddy on Feb 22 of last year. I received this poem from the place that had taken care of Bucky for me. I cry everytime I read it. I'm sure lots of people have read it before. So this is for you, Janice.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven lies the Rainbow Bridge

When a beloved pet dies, it goes to the Rainbow Bridge. It makes friends with other animals and frolics over rolling hills and peaceful, lush meadows of green.

Our pets do not thirst or hunger. The old and sick are made young once more; the maimed and the ill become healed and strong. They are as healthy and playful as we remember them in days gone by.

Though happy and content, they still miss someone very special, someone they had to leave behind.

Together, the animals chase and play, but the day comes when a pet will suddenly stop and look into the distance... bright eyes intent, eager body quivering. Suddenly recognizing you, your pet bounds quickly across the green fields and into your embrace. You celebrated in joyous reunion. You will never again separate. Happy tears and kisses are warm and plenty; your hands caress the face you missed. You look once more into the loving eues of your pet and know you never really parted. You realize that though out of sight, your love had been remembered.

And now, you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh Janice I am so sorry. Tiga is 13 years old and has intestinal problems and has to take steroids for the rest of her life. When I changed vets a year ago he asked me if I knew and understood the damage Steriods will cause, I told him yes even though I don't, all I know is this is what's keeping her alive right now.

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

Oh Janice, I am so so sorry. I do know how you are feeling. I lost a dear dear friend years ago,,,she was my rock, my protector, my confidant, she was my EVERYTHING! I knew she was going to go and I had prepared her a beautiful box for that time,,but when it came that time,,I was so not ready to say goodbye. She went so peaceful though, a fitting departure for such a true friend. There is no doubt in my mind that she would not have given her life for mine had the need arose. That's how much I trusted her.
She has a special place in my yard, and a solar light with the saying on it.
"If tears could build a staircase and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you back home again"

Years went by before I got another dog. There will never be another dog like Dee though. But Nikki is also my companion of 6 years now. she is with me all the time.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I have my Buddy ( Bucky's daddy) buried in mom's chicken yard (no chickens though) and I need to fix it up. I love that saying, Marilyn. My mom has the same plaque in her flower garden next to an elf. I think he reminds her of my dad and that is why she has the plaque there. I know what I'm going to do tomarrow.

I just haven't been in the mood to do anything since we got back from Oregon. Went to the $ Tree, K-mart and Target just walking around looking. It had been almost 3 years since I had been in those stores. I used to work at K-mart and saw 2 co-workers. They were really happy to see me. Saw some of the neatest garden ornaments. Can't wait for payday ^_^
