Morning Peeps.

I'm hot as a firecracker this morning. My lawn guy didn't show up yesterday. He didn't show up last Friday either, so I called him Thursday to make sure he was going to show up, and he said he would. My lawn is in desperate need of mowing. I called him yesterday evening and left a message, and again this morning already.
My sister is coming today, and my grass is knee deep in places... and I've already given our push mower to Danny. I'm so hot about it, I couldn't sleep last night.

Cody and Jaye, my Mom and Sister has those steps for the cats that are getting up in years. Yeap, the need assistance getting on the bed so ......

BJ thank goodness mine showed up on time--not that I have much to mow now that it has been dug up for the new drain field. Think I will end up with even less after I redesign the back flower beds to incorporate the dumb white pipes that stick up about 4". I can include them in beds as long as they are accessible for using. I hate being on a septic tank.

Well, off to feed my son's dog and a trip to the cemetery to put the pinwheel and fresh flowers on the birthday boy.

We are going to the in laws to be this afternoon so am getting ready for that after cleaning up water out of the carpet from the drain being clogged on the air conditioner last night.

Todd cooked a brisket for us all to eat today, and I am making some potato salad to go with it! The watermelon is in the fridge cooling down!

I got an email from Stacey, and she ask me to tell you all hello. She has let her DG subscription expire, and said she will try to check her dmail when she can. I have her email, and if anyone wants it send me a dmail, and I will give it to you.

Hi Laura! Were there lots of fireworks in your neighbourhood?
A scattered few here. Our town sponsored fireworks at the high school grounds every year. Last about 20 minutes.

Brisket's in the oven too. Slow roasting it. That will be our lunch tomorrow and of course the following day. Lots of sandwiches.

Hope you all ate well today, didn't get sunburn and waved the flag high!

Just got through feeding the wild ones outside. Mosquitoes must be waiting for me!
Too tired to watch tv. Brisket's done and Kel's not even hurrying to taste it. He's zonked too!
Think I'll just go to bed early tonight.

Getting ready to water the plants while it's still a tad cool. (yah.. like 80* right now) Then clean up before church.

Brisket's cooked, and when I return, all Kel got to do is grill eggplants, zucchini and asparagus.

BJ, I'm certain your sister was in awe over your beautiful place. . Pretty sure she found inspirations under your gazebo. Did she present you with one of her 'masterpieces'

Morning Sistahs!!!

Well, sister Jo showed up yesterday, and we talked and talked all afternoon... was just the two of us here for the 4th. I took her out on the lake and it was her first time on a jet ski... the lake was really choppy, and there were a lot of boats on the lake... so we didn't stay out there long. We went to the Tiki Hut for a panini, then back home for a mud slide in the gazebo, and watched fireworks that all the neighbors were blowing up.

Today, Don is home and we'll smoke a brisket...

Oh I wish I had some of Don't brisket today. Sounds like you and your sister had an enjoyable 4th.

Off to search for my waterproof windbreaker as I will be needing it next week. HUmmm now just where did I put that thing?

That's right... 10th will be around the corner soon, and you're off to exotic Costa Rica! Cloud forest weather! Got your list what you want to see this time? Wouldn't it be nice if your JD's doing a location in Monteverde?

Jaye, we had a professional fireworks display Friday and Saturday and we had a decent selection, but nothing else close to us worth mentioning. Cedric joined us for the festivities I’ll get those pictures posted tomorrow I think.

Oh how I wish Jaye!!! Yeap, know what we want to see and ready to go--well not packed but will do that Friday morning before I drive to Gainesville to pick up my friend. Don't want to rush things.

Found my rain jacket, thank goodness, as it is very light weight, fold up into a pocket and I needed one!!!

Wonderful news about Kel's uncle.

(((((((((Barb))))))))) thank you! Now we're hoping for at least one of his kidneys to be functioning at 100% All started from being a diabetic, and you know how that spirals downwards. Then when that surgeon goofed.. oh my.. brought all his sons closer to God. Ronald is so blessed.

I bet Sage was screaming and pointing all the while, Laura! Fireworks are for all ages!

BJ sounds like you and your sister are having a wonderful time so glad she came up to visit you.

Got up this am and DH decided we were doing one side of the porch cement so we did that and of course as humid as it was I was drenched by the time we got done and the sun wasn't even out yet.
It spit a few drops of rain then the sun came out then I laid down and fell alseep and slept all afternoon and it has rained again but not enough to fill up my rain barrel but it is still thundering so Lord willing we will get more.

We went to the in laws to be yesterday and had a nice time not alot of the family showed but we did meet the grandparents, the sisters and lil ones and a couple of cousins and a uncle so it was nice but we sat out under the shade tree and it got rather warm out there but it was quieter then in the house with the kids yellin LOL...got home about 9:30
Since Shelly was home we went shopping friday and found flowers for her bouquet and the bridesmaids ( she went silk since it will be September and hot still ) so all I have to do is wrap the stems and they are ready to go LOL

Just a short stop in, we arae on the train and headed home.....we had a wonderful time hiking and walking the beach.

Also got a ca call from Laura and my mom....our neighbor Doris passed away last night, as did another old neighbor, Rowdy who used to live down the street.

I will check in later when I am at home.

Well we are home and we had a wonderful time.... This is the best time I have spent with Matt and Dan and my Grandson Gunner in a long time.... Traffic on the way home made me a little crazy but hey I made it..LOLOL
Ok about egg plant do I go buy seeds and start in ground? I know stupid right?? I don't believe I could get plants started around here at this time ...
We did not go to the Marine fire works and my son Matt was not handleing the sounds of them to well from his next door neighbors home... So we just stayed home and I played allot of Thomas the Train with Gunner...LOL Matt has been deployed a total of 3 times....
Ok I am off to bed and hope everyone had a wonderful weekend....

Trisha, so sad to hear about Doris. I am glad you and Bill got away and such a good trip. Good for you both!!! You need to do that more often--just the 2 of you.

Phyllis, I wanted to take a nap this afternoon but the phone just kept ringing--wrong numbers!!! Grrrrrrrr!! Oh well, got the things ready I need for my trip so all was not lost. Sounds like you had a nice 4th visiting. Good for you. Just remember, we want loads of pictures of the wedding!!!!

Happy to hear you are back home safe and sound Susan. I hate driving with holiday traffic--try not to if I can help it but sometimes I can't. Oh I wish I had a grandson but alas just 2 little girls. Of course, I wouldn't trade them for anything but a boy would be nice also.

Off to put some more things away and thinking about an early bedtime.

Susan, I've never grown eggplant from seeds. Got the plants from Lowe's... you might still be able to get them. Make sure to look for the Japanese long eggplants. Sweeter than the oval ones.
Poor Matt... I'll be jumping too at the sound of fireworks, if I were deployed even once.. especially that many times!!


So sorry Trisha. I know your family treats Doris as family. She is now in a much better place.

Had a great time hiking over the Headland along one of the same trails that Lewis and Clark hiked to check out a Whale on Indian Beach.....it is such a beautiful area....

so many beautiful plants and flowers and trees.....

Haystack Rock is a rookery where thousands of Seagulls and Pelicans come to nest and raise their young.....there are also Puffins that roost on the back side of the Island....it is incredible to see soooo many birds literally covering this island;

Beautiful beaches....

And don't forget the Sand Sharks!!

We really did have a great weekend.....around 10 miles that I walked yesterday....been years since I have done that and my legs are telling me about it.

Oh Trisha those pictures are wonderful! I was going to say the pink flowers are my favorite, but now I'm not so sure, I like them all! I'm so sorry about Doris hun. T&P going to you and the rest of her friends and family.

My weekend had it good and bad moments. Not going to post it all, but the reunion was almost a bust. Usually everyone shows up at camp around 10am and stays until it gets dark. We didn't get there til 1 so we missed the food, then everyone left around 3, so we left too and went back home to A/C, lit off our own fireworks at the house and that was it. Friday at the reunion usually there isn't anything but that was the big night. Of course I forgot my camera Friday but wasn't too worried about it cause the 4th is always a bigger day, not this year! Oh well. Me and Dave got into this huge fight Thursday night after work and things still aren't right. I think it'll be better after his family goes back to CA on Wednesday, seems to be an issue every time they come out to visit. He's doing a lot of things that are completely out of character for him. Don't know what to do so I won't do anything.

Morning Ladies !!!

What a wonderful visit I had with my sister. She actually still has a lot of fun left in her at 62 years old... I haven't seen the fun side of her in a very long time...

She had her very first experience ever on the jet skis... and had a blast.

And she actually got it up to about 30 miles an hour. It took me a couple weeks to get that fast when we first got them.

AND... Marion... this one is for you.
Jo and I played dress up with your pressie.

AND... we stayed up till late last night playing with polymer clay... she is the artistic one of the family, and had never made anything with polymer clay... so we made a necklace and earrings (didn't exactly match, though)... and she took them home to her granddaughter. Now... she excited to get her granddaughter started playing with clay... and is taking a vacation with her granddaughter to New Mexico in a couple weeks to visit a friend who is a jewelry maker, and granddaughter is going to get some lessons.
I do hope they come here and teach me what they learned...

Jo inspires me to be creative... and now I want to get back to doing some clay things.

Our 4th was a bust too. No fireworks at the casino this year, too dry. The cold windy weather that greeted us when we got here, has returned to send us home. Sissy is making me take home a bunch of Iris' and Daylilies. So we will be digging those up today. Mom is getting cranky because she's bored urrrr. Sometimes there is just no pleasing that woman!!!. I'm ready to get back home, wished we would have left this morning. We will leave between 4:30 and 5 am tomarrow.

Yes we do need a roll call. Haven't seen Penny/Countrymom post in awhile.
