Just teasing Deborah there. No way I'll be able to drink MickeyD's mocha.. too sugary!!
Thanks Maid M.. any shared info helps. I will try-try-try to return to the sewing machine. But for now, all I want to do is slump in a chair!
Enjoy your dinner Maid M.
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞150
Oh I know you were teasing!! After all you, my dear sweet sistah would never, no never refer to me as a senior citizen. LOL :-)
Oh I can offer the advice but it was not an easy thing to do when I was being given it. I learned the hard way as I suspect many others do also. You know the saying about hind sight being 20/20.
Afternoon all,
Marion, you asked about Norm earlier. He is doing really well. Right now he is at the school playground with our grandsons which is why I have two minutes at the computer. The youngest one is getting really good at computer games. I like letting him play when he comes here as I control what he looks at. He is exceedingly quick with his mind and does really well with this stuff.
Norm is really doing so well. He is back to mowing the greens at the course where my son is a manager. It gives him something to do and supplements the unemployment. He does have a job interview coming up soon. Just waiting for the person to set it up. We haven't made any decision about chemo yet. He wants to check it out really good before he tries it. It will be a new one and the Intron made him so sick.
I'm looking forward to meeting Qwilter this Thursday. She will be in New England for her daughter's wedding and we are getting together. I can't wait...
They are back = will talk more soon. Hugs, Barb
I can barely handle Mickey D's anything. They are improving though, I do have to say.
Jaye T&P going out for you and Kel hun. Hope his chemo isn't too hard on him.
BJ you know you'll hear from Mike, it's hard saying bye to such a wonderful young man. I'm thinking about talking to Dave to see if he wants to do the Foreign Exchange thing. I've never known anyone who does it before, sounds fun!
Crissy... not trying to do the "cheap shot" plug here for AFS... but you really can't go wrong with hosting a foreign exchange student. These kids are screened pretty well before their application is accepted. In the 25 students that came to East Texas this year, only one student was threatened to be sent back... and that was a first for this area team. He couldn't get along with his host siblings, for some reason... then they placed him in another home, and it was a match made in heaven... Another girl tested her limits with her host mom, but she was quickly set straight by team leaders.
There's just so much back up for the host parents, that if there's any problem... someone will be right there to help get it taken care of.
PLUS... you don't have to take a student to get involved... they're always looking for liaisons... people who just make a phone call once a month to the student, and the host family to see how things are going... then report the results online to the chapter chair person. They also use volunteers in other areas... orientation, welcome families for those students that aren't placed when they arrive, etc. You don't have to host, to get involved... actually, some like to get a feel for the program and the kids before they commit to a year of hosting.
I highly recommend AFS to anyone interested. You can be empty nesters, single, retired, or young and still raising your kids... but, they do have to have a room of their own, or if they'll share a room with another child, they have to have their own bed.
OK, that my cheap shot for today... go here to find out more.

Apparently shes stll pretty peaved about what happened and didnt like the response she got but o well better Max puts his foot down now than wait until its gets worse..
Well I better run
Huggs
Donna
Hugs and prayers going out to all.
An Iced Mocha sounds really good right now.......been out putting in a new bed for mom, then took all the old crowded plants out of the big Urn Planter out front and got new plants in there...got the old wash tub full of extra water plants taken over to Laura and got MIL's grocery shopping done. Tonight or tomorrow will start pulling Sage and Honeysuckle out of the old bed and moving Iris to a new location so I can finally get the new front bed finished up. Then maybe I can get out back and fight some of my own weeds and what not.....and summer has only just begun:(
Got my Doctors appointment out of the way, now I need to make a vet appt. for Porter, have to get train tickets reserved for our Portland trip...Bill's best friend wants us to come down for the 4th of July Weekend for their Anniversary. Then if I have anything left I need to renew Laura's DG subscription, it is up at the end of the week.
Smells like the rice is done....better go get it cooled off.....Fried Rice, a Green Salad and bottle of Dry Reisling for dinner tonight. Talk to all of you later....
Maybe next year, we'll give it a try BJ. We met an exchange student from Thailand and his sponsors live in MB.
Barb, hope Our Lord gives Norm a job he likes. We know you'll have so much fun with Qwilter, and I'm sure, you both will be raiding the quilting shops!
So glad to read that Trina will be spending the 4th with you and Max, Donna. You know how the saying goes.. spare the rod and spoil the child. Yep, you got to set boundaries for the kids
Honeysuckle can be so invasive. I have a red one that's practically taking over one end of the fence. When it starts misbehaving and encroach the clematis' end.. off it goes!!
How nice.. a train ride! That would be much more relaxing than a bus ride.
And writing of rides, I pray that your car sees to it that you reach your destination safe and sound till the tie-rods can be fixed.
Trisha, is it naive of me to wish that your stomach pain goes away inexplicably?
Thank you everyone for your well wishes and prayers. It was a difficult first day for Murdock.
The doctor told us that Murdock is his first cancer patient who is still recuperating from a stroke. Other stroke victims with cancer turned down treatment.
And if you think that Murdock's brave, actually, he had a panic attack.
Breathing got errratic and oxygen's administered. Kel was with him at that time and prayed over him. Somehow, that comforted Murdock.
Us women were in the hallway. There's nothing much we can do but pray. And while waiting, I had a book with me.
Waking up at 5 in the morning.. so, I'll say goodnight.
Synda.. hope you're feeling better hun.
Hello everyone. I was told this afternoon, that I have a 1.6 cm tear on my miniscus, so I have surgery scheduled for July 16th. Todd surgery will have to wait, till his blood levels get back up to par! he goes in for a stress test tomorrow. Lets all pray everything is OK!
Good night everyone. Off to say my prayers, then to bed!
LK
Will mark your surgery date.. and pray for a successful surgery and quick recovery, LK.
Good night, sistah!
Jaye please get some rest....we are keeping all of you in our prayers.....
LK prayers for you also....mom has had surgery for the same thing and she is doing great these days.
Our DG friend Tubbytee on Best/Worst posted this and I thought it worth passing on...
God Said No
I hope that you can get the effects on your computers! The words are great, but the movements of the faces add a lot...
I asked God to take away my habit.
God said, No.
It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, No.
His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary
I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No.Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;
it isn't granted, it is learned.
I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No.I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares
and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.You must grow on your own! ,
but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said, No.
I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things.
I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said...Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.
Have a good night everyone....sleep well.
Discovered that I have a little lily that isn't an orange one!
I likeTubby, what a neat man! I bet his wife is just as neat too.
LK praying for you with your knee surgery. I have a tear in the cartilage behind my kneecap, is that the same place? I haven't had an MRI done yet cause I can't do the surgery yet.
Hmmm BJ, we have a spare room and bathroom. I'm always joking since we don't have kids that we're on the Rent a Kid program, I guess that pretty much makes that statement! LOL
That's a pretty lily, wish mine would bloom.
Morning Ladies,
Going to be a quite house here soon. Boys are going home in about 1/2 hour or so. Sissy is plum wore out!!!! She said when she gets back she is not doing anything today. Tomarrow or Friday we are going to the Casino, then Saturday is the Pow Wow. I'm looking forward to getting back home and seeing my flowers and my daughter and DGK.
LK, dang it now!!! You quit getting things wrong with you, You are too young to have that many things go wrong with your body OUCH!. My mom had orthoscopic surgery done on her knee for a torn miniscus, but it didn't work so they had to re-do it and put in a metal knee.
There is a Dish Towel Swap going on in Sewing and Quilting still need some more ladies. I'm doing May so I can do Flowers on the towels. Marion and Barb are in it too.
Linda Kay I will certainly be thinking of you and I agree with Cindy. Enough now--we need you healthy and well. Keeping you and Todd in my prayers.
Crissyr that is just to funny-"Rent a Kid" but I love it. Humm, maybe I should do that as there is room here also. I need one that likes to garden so I will have company outside.
Jaye, panic attacks seem to go with the treatment or it did in our case. As if the treatment can't be bad enough add the extra and it does make it rough for all. My thoughts and prayers for you and Kel--I wish I were closer and could help share the load.
Cindy, I know the feeling about returning home. I get the same way when I am gone very long. No place like your own home for sure, is there?
Well, I have workman doing some things today so I need to run and see what they are wanting. Later...........................
HAPPY JULY!!!!
Morning sistahs... can you believe this year is already half over? SHEESH
LK... girlfriend... you're wearing your body out, sister... got to learn to take it easy, ya know... seriously, I pray that all goes well for you and Todd... keep us posted.
Praying here everyday for all my sistahs and their loved ones that are ill.
Marion... one of the rules of hosting an exchange student is that you have to treat them like one of the family... that includes giving them chores to do. Mike was always ready to help with things I was doing outside, in addition to his regular chores. BUT, just like American kids, they're all different, with different personalities... Ina might not like it very much when I hand her a shovel and say "dig"... LOL. I'm still looking forward to her coming though.
Actually, Marion... Kim might enjoy hosting a student from a Spanish speaking country... even though they are required to speak English while they're here... they can have their "Spanish" moments together.
Crissy... Do it... you'll never regret it... Mike enriched my life as much as his was enriched while he was here. Unlike when you had your own kids... you can actually pick a kid that has interests similar to your own.
Well... Mike's plane was suppose to land in Vienna about 2 hours ago. He's still probably trying to get through customs, and find his luggage. I haven't heard from him yet, but he promised to email me when he gets to his house. However, his grandfather had a stroke day before yesterday, so he's probably wanting to go to the hospital too to see him.
Well hello Sistah's!
Nice to some posting going on! LOL, seems like everyones been busy, so was kinda quiet.
Linda Kay, sure hope everything goes well with the knee surgery...I will continue prayers for you and Todd.
Jaye, still got you, Kell and Murdock in my prayers and thoughts...Please, do yourselves a favor and do get in some time to yourselves! Like others have said better said then done, but we all do hope you take that time, for you and each other!
Waving hello, Sistah Deborah!! I hope the shower was grand, and the wedding is spectacular as well...My I can understand your concern for the pups...Think you should talk to a neighbor or maybe one of the kids on baseball team would come and check on them!!
Aw BJ...Such a nice photo pf the kids in the exchange. I am sue so much excitement and mixed emotions for all, but How neat that everyone had the oppertunity to an incredible experience of a lifetime! Am so glad you all will keep in touch too.
Now, whew, you get a some time to yourself, and well it does go by quickly, your next lil girl will be there in no time!...P.S. did i mention how I love that you are having a gallary of "your" kids! How cool, love the photo you of Mike, will you make a little plaque with name and date too? just a real neat idea!
Cindy, Om my gosh, sounds like your vacation is still going great! think i said I loved your photo's...My favorite 2 are the Rainbow! and You and your catch!! Now you enjoy that Pow wow, make sure you set your photo on sports, really hard to take photo's of the dancers!
Oh, but do enjoy the spectacular dress, beads and feathers, oh my gosh, and capture the heart the tiny dancers, they are just adorable and amazingly dance exact to the beat of the drum! Oh, do you smoke? If so then off some tobacco to the drummers, usually we break up a pack and sprinkle it in the center of the drum, shows appreciation of the music and their playing, they will nod in thanks never missing a beat, its kind of cool to watch the tobacco dance too...most of the drummers have a pouch attached and that is what will collect the fallen offer.
Speaking of pow wow's I'll be going home to the Rez debating on bringing my dress and dance...Haven't danced in public in years!
will be last minute decision...But we will be going to the pow wow to watch family members...
Also, I am hoping my brother will be having drummers at his wedding, that would be really cool. I am growing very excited going home tomorrow...So I'll see you all when I return on Tuesday...maybe I'll sneak on someones computer while we are there.
In the mean time..Wishing you all a Happy and SAFE 4th of July weekend. Will be hugging you all up, if your ears ring, it's cause I'll be talking about you...God Bless the USA and Godd Bless all of you too!
Lets see, Thanks about my bird dear friends, Skittles should be joining us when we return next week...lol, you know I'll be taking pics to share...Can't wait! Oh and Jaye, His name was picked by Jacob.
Lets, see...Jaye, you give your big sweetheart an extra Armwrap, loved the d-mail...you are so lucky. just finished P of the Rivers too...yep just love the ending as well.
Ko, got to run off...lots to finish and pack my stuff for weekend! Enjoy the day!
Marion, Hope your hand is better, and loe the sound of the quaint lil coffee house...you enjoy them Moccas!
tahtah for now, ladies.
Judy, no I don't smoke. But I will be taking lots of pix and so will my Mom. I was going to bring my daughter's video camera but they are going to Vegas for the 4th and wanted it. Although I can take short videos on my camera just don't know how much space I'll have on my card. Need to download all my pix then will have more room.
Wishing everyone a good day.....going to try and get most of the front bed cleared out....I so want to be finished with this project and on to something else (like all the lovely weeds in the back beds). Cool this morning....was in the low to mid 40's over night....supposed to be in the eighties for today's high. Want to get the hard stuff out of the way before it heats up.
BJ be sure and and tell Mike we are sending him hugs and keeping his grandfather in our prayers.Marion, Cindy, Judy, Crissy waving to everyone.......will be back in awhile the dog needs to go out Now!
Hello everyone.
It's in the 80's here.. how did we get so lucky? But thank you Lord!!
Marion, thank you for the offer. But, if you were here, I think I'll be of much not help to Kel's family! You and I will be fabric shopping!!
OH how exciting Judy!! You will have more precious memories made and yourself will be extremely lost in the happiness of being 'home' again. We also want to see how free your spirit is when you're dancing. So make sure to get one of the kids to record that moment.
Cindy, I've been to 2 Powows back in Louisiana, at Marksville. Each time I was captivated by their traditional dresses, head gears, and especially the dances.
Next time I go to one, I'll make sure to offer tobacco.
Trisha, thanks for posting that. Hope you get at least one box today. Forgot to tell you that Cedric and his treasures were packed in 2 boxes!!! Just want to make sure the postal workers do not throw one oversized box like an old furniture!! Separating them in two boxes should get to you intact.
Aww BJ.. so sorry to read that Mike's grandad had a stroke. At least he didn't cut his time short with you. Hope he emails you with great news.
Twyla, have you known yet of the whereabouts of your son? There's nothing you really could do, but pray. You need to look out for yourself too.
I'll start taking names for the "Stuffed Envelope Swap". Marion, not to worry.. plenty of time allowed for you to get that done ;)
No news on Mike's grandfather ("Opa", as they say in German)... but the good news is that he made it home safely, and immediately had to scope out HOME to make sure everything is the same...
All his luggage made it there at the same time he did... which is a miracle, since his plane at Houston was delayed for 1 1/2 hours, and his flight at Frankfurt was canceled, and had to take a later flight, 1 hour later.
He said he didn't get any sleep at all on the plane... there were 77 exchange students all flying to Frankfurt on the same plane... and they all had to share stories all night long. I bet they all drove the stewardess nutso... but I can imagine all the chatter going on for that 10 hour flight.
Yep... my life is my own now for a while, Judy... it feels kinda strange. Have a simply wonderful time with your family... I know you will.
Mike 'bout ate us out of house and home... (not really, but he did like to eat)... so, now that I know he's home safe, I need to go get groceries so I can actually pack Don a lunch tomorrow.
My sister's coming Friday to spend the 4th with me, and I suppose I need to clean something before she gets here too.
See ya'll later.
Lol... I can imagine Mike looking under his bed and making sure his old socks are still waiting for him BJ!
"Stuffed Envelope Swap 2009" has officially started!
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1009529/
LOL... yea... that would definitely be MIKE to look under the bed.
BUT, his mom rearranged the house while he was gone... he no longer shares a room with his little brother... they've moved him to the bedroom in the basement... so now he has his very own private space. Well... it will be shared with his big brother when he's home, but he's rarely home... he is working in Romania now, and only comes home 1 weekend a month.
Now, I'm really off to the grocery store... couldn't find my keys, and I've tore up the house looking for them... using the spare key, so I really need to clean house to find them before I have to fess up to Don that I lost yet another set... sheesh...
Crissy, I don't know if your injuries are the same or not. I have already had a complete knee replacement on my right knee, almost three years ago, so I do not wna the same thing for the left knee. One of those surgeries, is enough!!!
BJ, when you send an email to Mike, you make sure to tell him we are praying for his Grandfather!
Hello to everyone else. Hope your all doing well!
LK
BJ, that's pretty neat, especially since I've never had kids, and I'm 36 which is good too. I'm definitely going to talk to Dave about it, see what he thinks, but after his family leaves, I don't need their input lol!
BJ nice pic, glad to see Mike made it home safely, as the rest of the exchange students.
Hi everyone!!!!
I don't have anything wrong other than that slight tear in the cartilage. He said I have the cartilage of a 5 year old in both knees, so being lazy has something to say for it LOL
Hi All,
Just stopping in to say hello to all of you.... LK, what type of surgery are they doing on your knee? Is it the one with the 3 little holes they put in the knee? Three of my sons have had surgery on there knees and the one they repaired the tear only to have it 4 months later to lock up on him and had to have surgery next day to remove it all together...
Jaye, {{{{HUGS}}}} I will still keep you and everyone else here in my prayers at night....
Hope everyone here is doing well ^_^ Cindy I am hoping you are having a ball on your vacation ^_^
Ok going to eat my dinner now....
Hugs,
Susan
So, I was on the road toward the grocery store when Don calls me...
"Hi, honey... whatcha doing?"
me: "Driving to the store"
Don: "you in the truck?"
me: "No"
Don: "well, that's funny... cause I have your keys in my pocket"...
me: "Dangit!!! I looked for an hour for those keys"
--------------------------------------
So, then I got home from the grocery store and was unloading the car... and Don calls again.
"Honey, you forgot to put a fork in my lunch box for the tomato salad"
me: (still steaming over the keys) "well, sounds like "just deserts" to me... guess you'll have to eat it with your fingers, then"... "or go searching the stadium for a fork, like I searched for the keys".... LOL
BJ,
To funny..... Hubby came home from work yesterday and I was not in a good mood as he kept me up half the night for no good reason... I made him stew for awhile before I was really talking to him again...LOL
Hugs,
Sue
What a nice looking couple.... You will be fine with your travels as you will be so excited to be going to the wedding...
Hugs,
Susan
Oh Deborah what a good looking couple. I can feel your excitement but take care now and don't make yourself sick. Kick back and enjoy the wedding. Where are updated pictures of Riley??????? Granma, you slipping.
Yes, my knee surgery is just a scope, they call it, with the three holes! Lets all pray real hard, it does not lock up, in a few months?
Glad you found the keys BJ! LOL
We will be waiting for wedding pictures!
Hey Susan, how are you doing?
Marion, hope that hand is doing better?
LK
Linda Kay I am doing okay. Now we need to shift gears and start taking care of you and Todd. Please go easy for a while, we need you up and running with us.
Hugs back Susan. Thank you for your prayers. We do appreciate them. Hope this summer won't be too hot for you in Va.
Too funny BJ!!! I would have told him to use the keys, instead!!! Lol!!
Yep, agreeing wholeheartedly.. very nice looking couple. Deborah, please post recent pictures of Riley when you return along with the wedding photos.
Will definitely be praying for a safe trip for you and family.
Kel just got through mowing the grass in the dark!! Mosquitoes somehow avoid him. Must be all the gas he emits!!
Need prayers for my daughters MIL. She has cancer of the lymp nodes. Was doing good, but now is not feeling so good. Her last PET scan showed that one had shrunk but another had inlargened. They are taking a trip to Vegas but don't know how well she will be able to handle it. Eillen (daughter's MIL) is a big time Teaxs Hold Em poker player and has won in several tournaments. This may be her last. If the good Lord should happen to call her home, I don't know if I have the strenght to help my son-in-law, daughter and grandaughter as this will hit them hard.
Hello Madam Butterfly,
Very handsome couple indeed. And they are getting married on my grandaughters b-day ^_^.
Cindy, I got it noted. Will relay her name to my church's prayer warriors too.
Lord willing, Eileen may overcome this.
Thank You Jaye, her mother passed 4 years ago from the same thing. This is also another reason why I moved back home. I'm thinking I will be spending alot of time over at my daughters.
Lord knows what He's doing after all. He sure knows who will be needing you most Cindy.
