Love seeing the lilies and DL' s appearing. Love that one Victor.

Meredith79, super cool bud, for sure. What was it? And that was a strange spider. Id?

Redchic, that salvia shot is stunning. Is it Black and Blue or what? I keep seeing that one, but I was unable to winter over them a few years ago in the GH, so I haven't tried them again. Expensive annual.

Pixie, that must be a dianthus that is dotting your yard. I love them. They do well in Vt, and ok here, but never spread for me.

LEIGHTONHILL, how do your grow your DL's? Mixed in beds or lined out. I can't wait to see some of your favorites. I have a very modest number. Love the spiders, but I put myself on a DL diet recently as they would take over the garden if I kept buying more.

Robindog, nice pink rose. Is it an old gallica or what. I don't know much about any except rugosa.

I still have to give Victor my thoughts on the best rugosa . I use to only like singles and now I have added many doubles. I bought many from a coop from a wonderful grower who is out of business (Great Lakes) through Dan, but this grower in Maine has an excellent collection and reputation. www.northcreekfarm.org

The hybrid rugosa 'Carmen' has done very well and has a very rich color, but only the second year for me. I make rose hip jelly, so the hips are important to me and to the birds in the winter.

Thanks Patti. I prefer single pink ones.

Falmouth, ME(Zone 5b)

I have one 30x70 garden that is 99% daylilies and then four 5X30's (just dl's) and one 25X25 that is daylilies and mixed perennials. I have recently become a hosta addict.. lol! I sell daylilies on the Lily Auction but soon I will probably only sell seeds and get rid of my plants some other way. It's so much work digging, cleaning and shipping.. hats off to those of you who do that large scale! I have a hedge of rugosa that is about 50 feet or more long... nice until the Japanese Beetles arrive. I had an agricultural inspector here recently that told me that the japanese beetles now have a parasite that will kill them in mass numbers. If you look at the beetles it will be a small bubble on their back. Hopefully that will happen here.. whoopee!!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Can't wait to see some pictures of your beds. Bring on the parasites! I heard they were being tested on the Cape with good results so far.

I forgot to tell you the names of this group. Hansa and Roseraie de l'hay are double pinks that are hard to tell apart for me, and the dark one is Carmen while the double white is Sir Thomas Lipton and the two single ones ( one white and one pink) are the species ones that are what we call a beach rose. I have a more yet to be photographed this year. David Thompson, Fimbriata, Linda Campbell, Kordes Robusta, Topaz Jewel, Rugelda, and some new ones this year Moore's Striped Rugosa, Keith's Delight, and Star Delight. Patti

Falmouth, ME(Zone 5b)

I think... somewhere on here... Mainiac has a picture of my garden.. I'll have to ask her about that... I'll send pics as soon as things start popping here... I, unfortunately, do not know the names of my rogusa's.... Love seeing all the pictures. Yes, I'm on this kick to bring in bugs, nematodes and beneficial bugs/parasites... not much for chemicals here as I have a herd of pets.. lol!! Thanks for the lovely pictures!!

Pets, some one should start a NE Pet Parade. Here are photo's my gals taken this month. They are sisters border collies that will be 7 this week, Winnie and Little Nell. Patti

Nice puppies, Patti.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Nice shots, everyone!

Jo Anne, those are gorgeous shots from you friend's place. Very nice!

Beautiful pink carnation with the red speckles, Shelly! Just love it! That lamium and heurchera combo is great, too!

Welcome, LH! This is a great crowd here. You are not very far from me. Looks like you're a daylily nut like I am. I have over 900 different cultivars. Would you like to come to my RU July 19th? It's during peak daylily bloom! Here's a link to my RU thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/948734/ I have sold DL's on the LA and eBay both, and you're right, it's a lot of work. More than it's worth, IMO. I have been using a product that contains something called spinosad on the lily beetles and caterpillars here, and it's been working great. I'll bet it will work on the Jap. beetles, too. It kills any bugs that chew on the plants that are sprayed, and it's organic. It's called Monterey Garden Insect Spray http://www.planetnatural.com/site/monterey-garden-insect.html . I will be trying it on them as soon as the appear at my place.

Great DL at the beginning of this thread, Victor! And I love the butterfly shots.

Great rose shots, Patti! That rugosa Carmen does look very nice. Love your dogs. They look sweet, and I bet naughty, too!

Here are some pics I took on the 18th.
