Well, it wiill be shared.
Father Knows Best - Happy Fathers' Day! Coffee Break # 14
At least you have a plan. We didn't.
Jen, good luck with your mom. It's gotta be hard even though your sister is helping a lot.
My mom is in New Mexico where my two sisters are and my dad is in Belize. Mom's taken care of, no sweat, but Dad... he's okay now, but we worry. He's 79 this year.

Wow! Belize sounds good.
How you doing Harper? How's your boy?
I know, Belize got a twinge from me too!
Great birding!
Happy belated 4th of July all!!! I couldn't find a thread???
{{{{ all moms }}}} I will be lost without Moo when she's gone :( wha it terrifies me when people don't get second opinions. Good for you bud! Luv your card debilu ^_^
Thanks dnut! David got it today and liked it.
Today was also his first day on the job. I knew I would miss him and it would be an adjustment, I didn't realize how much I would miss the fact that he's not right around the corner anymore.
He has already ran into a kid he went to college with, and another kid who went to the same college is working at the same place.
Wow - what a cool coincidence.
I REALLY REALLY want to say
YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Pardners Happy Stampede!!!!!!! with a pic.
Except supposedly according to my stupid camera my memory card is 'full' and I have no idea how to beam a pic of my funky cowboy boots up to DG when the camera has issues with the memory card being 'full'. Really, like why did I buy this stupid camera if this was gonna happen!!! Hmmmmm guess I'm going to have crack the "manual" O Joy (snort). Is it like changing a diaper? Changing a light bulb? Changing your Brita filter? Refreshing your container soil? Seriously these things should happen in winter when I have time to figure it all out sigh.
Things are fine here Dave! Thanks for asking. DS is doing really great. He got his best report card ever this year, so I'm thrilled. We're building a veggie bed together this summer, plus a few other household maintenance projects. I figured I don't want to spend on summer camp, so I'll have him help me fix things up around here. I hope we don't make things worse in the process.
Deb, your son sounds like he's settling in nicely. Sorry he's not closer to you. I dread the day my son moves away.
Dahlianut, it's not so hard emptying your memory card. Good luck!!
Congrats on the report card, Harp! Great to hear. My older guy did his best work to date too. He'll be doing scout camp one week and two weeks of art.
Congrats to both kids for doing well in school.
That's great Victor! Give him a hug of congratulations from me. I'll be taking mine hiking one or two days this summer. Maybe we can make a trip with you and your boys too?
Thanks, Harp. That would be nice, though it would have to be a cooler day. I'm not a summer hiker in general. Too hot and way too many bugs.
Congrats on your kidlings wonderful success Sofonisba, Victor and all. Sorry but I never have any doubts about kidlings with great parents. I just assume that the luv, joy and humanity goes on. Please let me know if worrying is ever in order and I will worry if needed.
Okay, let's wait 'till the weather cools down.
Thanks Dahlianut!
too funny.. out my window I can see a momma crow feeding a baby crow.. funny part is she has a whole big round roll and dipping it in my neighbors gutter to get it wet.. to feed the baby
hhhmm just flew away... saving it for later?..... think the neighbors downspout might be a bit clogged
never mind another just stole it
Funny birdwatching Allison
Harper, Congrats to DS & your son too Victor. We (finally) said good-bye to our elementary school (K-4) as my little guy heads to the 5-6 lower middle school.
ooofff if I go to any more stampede breakfasts I'm gonna blow up. This one was a tad unusal though. There were cows wandering around. A nice authentic touch but I'm sure the cows were thinkin 'What's with the pancakes? Where's the cow food?" The horses don't seem care about these things during stampede. Perhaps they are more used to our stupid peoples ways. also they were serving beef BBQ which I think is a tad rude to do right in front of the cows
ROTFLOL!!! Yes, very rude and insensitive! Cows are people too!
I got to see some of the stampede on tv. We can get CBC out of Windsor on our cable. I watch alot of stuff from Spruce Meadows too. It was coll to watch some of the heats for the stampede. Lots of flying mud!
But the feelings of the cows were not taken into account! (smirk.)
We have lifer tickets to the Stampede rodeo finals and we go every year. I wish onewish was in it kicking butt this year sigh. I will wave in case you are watching on tv jumper2. Look for a waving lady with big curlicious hair wearing a cowboy hat and red cowboy boots. I would think Stampede must be aired on a few sports stations in the US as there are alot of US competitors.
Thanks Dave. My older guy moves on to middle school too - for 5-7 grades.
Kids grow awfully fast----glad to hear they both did well---I feel school is a harder adjustment for boys---girls are so into sitting, reading, bossing---you get the picture. Hope you did fine at the stampede, Dahlia!
Let me know how you like the 5-7 configuration. I thought 5th grade was way too young but my daughter had a great experience. Great principal.
Here we had 6-8 for middle school, then the 9th grade all at its own academy, then 10-12 for high school. There were just too many kids to have 9-12 at the high school.
I think it's too young to switch. I like the NYC way - K-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Here it's K-4, 5-7, 8-9 and 9-12. Same problem - the HS was too small so they built the 'secondary school' for 8-9.
On the positive side, the 5th grade is totally separate from the other two, except for the bus.
How NYC has it that's how I had it growing up. But they changed it in my old town and I have no idea how they have it now. They built so much new housing and didn't take into account they'll need room in the schools, duh!
There were originally 6 elementary schools, 2 they knocked down and built single family houses, 1 turned into a senior center and 1 they rented out to the county for special ed, so that left only 2 elementary schools with 1 high school and 1 middle school. Then they built 3 new single family developments and townhouse development and the biggest apartment complex I've ever seen....Um hello? where are all these kids going to go to school???
Of course they were having massive problems right before we moved out, kids eating lunch in the halls, had to bring in trailers, begged for money to expand the 1 elementary school, DUH!!!!! I mean how stupid!
Anyhoo.....update on my mom, she's still in the hospital now they think she has a problem with heart valve, my sis is meeting with the cardialogist in a couple days. She's very weak but the pt was able to get her out of bed to sit in a chair, where she promptly fell asleep.
My sis found a nursing facility for her and then upon approval an assisted living facility.
I'll be flying out there on the 17th and back on the 21st.
Sigh... I wish I were too Dnut.. miss the horsey
Best of luck, Jen.
Here it's K - 4 at one school, then next door(ball field between them) is 5-8. High school is a few miles away and holds 9-12....it is also a semi-private school.
I think the grades in one school often depend on space. I grew up K-8, the 7 & 8 grades moved from class to class like modern middle schools. I see now after checking on my hometown that there are 2 K-6, a 7-8 plus the high school. The two K-6 were schools there when I was in school, in the 40s. The middle school is new & the high school the same with additions to the building. The town is still known for an excellent school system & I doubt if the grade configuration has anything to do with it.
I went to Catholic school. K-8 and HS.
My condolence's. ^_^
Hee hee! I have the emotional scars.
So do my brothers......I lucked out.
Besides.... you know what they say about those Catholic girls don't you?
