As in the Billy Joel tune?
Father Knows Best - Happy Fathers' Day! Coffee Break # 14
Correct! lol
You people are too young.
I want to believe that, Lucy!
I interviewed for a school nurse position in a small town that all the grades were at the same school, just different ends of the building, and there was just one nurse for all grades from K-12. I didn't want that job.
Don't blame you, Debi! My cousin, who lives in Calif., was a school nurse, & traveled to different schools---no nurse covering the other schools---bad situation---I had medical emergencies in children when I taught----ambulance wouldn't get there fast enough for some cases.---Our school system is K-3, 4-6, & 7-12, although 7th & 8th have their own wing---but, you know, they find ways to mix!
I'm kinda getting caught up after being away for a wedding in Atlanta. It was a great break and the weather was glorious. 80's low humidity and breezy.
I got home to find my brother had missed the afternoon meds for 2 days. Mom was very agitated and still is. Trying to get her back into the routine. Her tooth is still oozing a little blood. Our oldest's son's family is here until the 14th so it is quite hectic. Mom also started a new med to help with pain and shortness of breath.
Jen, hugs to you and your mom. Sounds like she is being well cared for. Distance doesn't make things easier. Have a safe trip.
The stampede sounds AWESOME!
Wha, glad you had a second opinion. Having a hurt knee, curtailed my Vball days. Hope the exercises help. I never went to have it looked at. It finally healed pretty well. I ride a bike now or walk.
School days for me were K-8 and 9-12. My kids went to a small school that was K-12. 2 separate buildings, K-6 and 7-12.
I know I missed some conversations, but it sure is hard to get caught up.
Jan, you lucked out with low humidity down in GA, glad you had a safe trip. Hope your mom gets back to her routine soon.
Anyone know who Mark Gastineau is???
Well he was at my son's VBS last night, I got him to sign our football.
Linebacker for the Jets in the 80's.
ding, ding, ding...we have a winner!!!
Hee hee. He was a user of PED's!
Well all's well that ends well. Victor sent instructions to deal with the 'memory card full' blinking dilemna (thank you everso muchly Victor) and I took instructions, camera, laptop, a CD and a DVD and some flowers to cameraguy for help because I have no idea how to 'back up' and I was worried I would delete the pics off the puter and the camera both and lose everything. After I explained the dilemna cameraguy took the camera and very niftily popped in a brand new memory card. WHO KNEW? HOW TOTALLY FABBY IS THAT!!! Cameraguy said I'm not to tell anyone cuz he could get in trouble for doing that and not charging me but I don't think you'll turn him in. Of course I have put the old card in a seed packet labelled 'Memory Card Full of Pics DO NOT PLANT' Anyhoo I'm back in pic action. These are my hottie fancy/dancy stampede cowboy boots so you will recognize me when I wave on TV on Sunday.
Nice boots!
dnut you are a dnut:)
yes you are... and I love it!!!
I hope you garden in those.
Very cool dnut!
I grew up in K-6, Jr High (7-9) and HS 10-12 also. If I was designing a scchool, it would be at least K-6 (maybe K-8). I guess the theory is that the middle school model is better educationally. But I'd like to let kids be kids.
Celeste, what is a partially private school? Is that like a little bit pregnant?
i grew up with same set up Dave - think it makes the best sense - HS can be a bit intimidating - the middle school let's progress another step in the school evolution
DH has physical scars from Catholic school!
We moved and my parents got divorced and whatnot with the result that I went to 4 other schools before ending up at a K-9 private school in 6th grade. (Yeah, what is a partly private school?) The school I ended up at had 4-5 together separately and then 6-9 was Upper School, another section.
It was kind of scary being a new 6th grader, not knowing anybody or anything about the culture of NE prep school. (There were other new 6th graders, I learned 30 years later, who had come from other private schools.) This was before The Preppie Handbook was published; you either knew how to do it or you didn't, and I didn't!
OK maybe I said it wrong.....Erskine Academy is an independent secondary school, if you do not live in one of the surrounding towns it cost you $8000 a year to go there.
The School Celebrating 125 Years (1883-2008)
Erskine Academy is a private high school serving the Maine communities of Chelsea, Jefferson, and Whitefield (Union #132); Palermo, Somerville, and Windsor (Union #133); China and Vassalboro (Union #52). The Academy presently has an enrollment of 763 students. Erskine is situated in the village of South China, Maine, on approximately 25 acres of land.
Founded in 1883 by Mary T. Erskine, the Academy is governed by a Board of Trustees. The five-member board is responsible for the overall management of the School.

There's a Preppy Handbook????? OMG I must have that. What does it say about singing and dancing Carrie???
I remember that book. It was good for giggles, we could always see some of the people we knew being that way.
Don't worry, Dnut. You are the original trendsetter and everyone else needs to take lessons from you. Love the red boots.
I was a tad unconventional in school Jan23. I got kicked out once for throwing a piece of chalk at my math teacher. My defense is: he threw one at me first. He missed me. I got him right between the eyes. (I was a good baseball player when I was a kidling). AND THAT WAS VERY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR ON MY PART! (said in case any kidlings are looking in)
hee hee
Feels like May today! Sunny and warmish. Wow, I actually had to water some things!
Very cool red boots, Dnut---I have red gardening clogs when I can remember where they are---have to hide them from the pointer who chews everything! Pixie, we have several semi-private HSs in CT---one is the Gilbert School in Winsted---it serves all the HS students of Winsted, but it's not governed like the public HS in CT.
Like charter schools? I am so confused.
Celeste's school is interesting. Is it a private school that is free for locals? Do those local towns buy in? Norwhich Free Academy in CT might be like that.
Robin, is that a charter school? The only schools the state of CT actually runs are the Tech schools and the schools inside state institutions (where kids with behavioral problems and/or no foster parents go (I think). CT puts lots of requirements on the municipal and regional schools.
I was at my local farmer's market and talking with the owner about some crazy people she's had there.
One lady came out of the pick your own fields with vines wrapped around her saying how much she loved this vine and wanted to know if she could dig more up if she paid for it, well Mrs R says "take all you want honey, you wrapped yourself up in poison ivy."
Hee hee!
oh boy
^_^
Too funny!
Good grief! Hope she didn't charge her....it's gonna cost her a small fortune in medicine!!! LOL
^_^
Another one came back with an arm load of leaves(just leaves) off the black raspberries. Lady asked "how much for these?" Mrs R is like why did you pull all the leaves off our black raspberries? Well she heard they cure cancer, "but how do you know we don't spray them with chemicals that may actually harm you more than they'll do you some good, have you asked your doctor about this?"
This should make you smile!
