Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #109

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I don't think your drab at all, I just couldn't remember 'who' she was but remembered talking to her, if that makes any sense at all.

Tubby I'm glad I just got a new box of Kleenex out!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, how's DH and you adjusting to the new schedule..although I thought it would allow you more time together you thought not...

Lyndonville, NY

Barb posted, she is fine.....life got busy! Yipppeee...and good results for Norms appointment.

Deep breath....Thank you God.

I'm here , I'm here. I'm so SORRY I made anyone anxious. Here's what's been going on.
I’m sorry if I worried anyone. Life had a way of catching us this weekend and the beginning of the week. I last posted on Sat. On Sun we got company (dear friends-just not expected) that ended up staying until quite late.
On Mon we went to the hospital for Norm’s 2 week check with the surgeon. This involved a PET scan, a chest x-ray and the Dr’s visit. Although we were there nearly all day, the results are good. The scan showed no new spots since the surgery. The chest x-ray showed some fluid but she said that is normal and will be absorbed by the body. She ended up being two hours late on her appointments due to an emergency. Poor Norm was starving at this point. He hadn’t anything to eat since 5:30 am and it is now 4 pm. We didn’t get upset though because she was there for Norm when he needed her and we would not begrudge the same to anyone else. She said he is healing very nicely and that she was pleased. She also told us that the spot she removed was malignant but had clean margins. This meant she was sure she had got it all and then checked to make sure we had an appointment with the oncologist to discuss the next step. We stopped for food on the way home and literally fell into bed when we got there.
Yesterday was food shopping day and catch up with family day. Another fairly ate night but when family cares we don’t turn them away. They left fairly early but we were still so tired and again fell into bed.
Today is catch up with everything and everyone else day. You know the drill, pay the bills, go to the PO and bring home more!!!!! Try to catch up with everyone on-line, do laundry and get some sewing done. Only the end of the day will see what we accomplish.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and concern and again I apologize for causing anyone to worry. Hopefully, I’m BACK for a while (or until the oncologist appointment which is the 25th incase I forget and don’t check in – haha)
I haven’t read the posts for two days and it would probably take me two days to catch up so if I missed something important, please fill me in. Hugs, Barb
I just read about LK's husband and Tubby. Boy, I can't let this happen again. I must check in every day. My prayers have still gone out for all in need along with my thanks to you all. I'm truly so grateful for all my friends here. Love to you all, Barb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great news Barb, now I can relax...heard from both you and Tubby...just don't go missing again without a post...

LindaKay, thinking of you both today...hoping good news in a post later today...

Trisha what do you have planned for the day, all your gardening work commitments done?

Leaving the house this morning I took the main road which I never take and just up from my house I saw they had a For Sale sign on Helen's house (friend who just passed on) and 2 doors over another house For Sale, her neighbor died exactly 1 week after she passed on...brings home reality of death...kids have to move on I guess so selling the house is priority...

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I think with selling the house, it isn't always about wanting to move on. It is about needing to exist.

I don't know how much difference there is in Canada, but I am finding out how many families have nothing planned. No Will, no financial arrangements for an emergency or illness, and I think these "kids" that get left behind, are so overwhelmed with grief....and the financial aspects, they have no choice. And once a person passes...their bank accounts and assets are immediately frozen. No money comes out until the Will and such is taken care of and attorneys invovled....and the burial/funeral homes want the money up front.

I had no idea....and we live in a small town, lower economic incomes and such...not like the prices in the big cities, and the burial expenses were a bit over $10,000...and that was doing everything on the "low end". So, I am sure...those kids are doing it just to survive also. And the legal expenses are just as bad. It is just so all overwhelming.

My son is making me lunch. Well, I should say, he went down to where he works....and is making us lunch. Not sure what he will come back with. LOL We are going to try and make that potato salad today I told you about.

We had a few raindrops ...and soon as I finished picking up what I needed too for the rain...it stopped. Says we are supposed to get rain the next five days. Good for the crops and farmers.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Some don't prepare for sure..I'm insurance poor..always making sure the kids will get $$$$ when I'm gone which will make their life easier, although they are the ones with the money now - why I worry..old school thought..they'll be doing a jig for sure if I pass on due to an accident..lol

Helen was quite well to do so no worries there..know the kids each have homes and cottages so no need to keep moms...guess it was just that a week after her death the garbage green bin was there, they disposed of almost everything either in the bin or garage sale, house entirely painted on the inside, new carpets etc. so someone will get a nice home.. just hard to see that life moves on so quickly, I know that..guess getting older brings it more into reality..

Were calling for rain, cloudy but nice out..perhaps we'll get a sprinkle later today..had called for rain this weekend but so far it's now showing we'll be overcast and in themid 60's to low 70's...crossing my fingers it is so...

This morning I looked out back and really I'm done back there for this year..time to start the front..really only edging..now that the Foxy Lady is no longer a lawn ornament I had considered doing something in that long space but often I have up to 10 cars in the drive so people park on the lawn, doesn't do damage, better than on the street so best I not start making gardens...

Long morning...

Ohhh found out what I did wrong on my blocks..yep...so used to working with wood, kept thinking about 7/8th's but what I was doing is counting 7 little lines..really I was cutting 7/16th's...so dumb...so I cut everything out this morning, hoping that between the time I get home and class time I can get it sewn..have to get it mailed out...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Afternoon all.......no plans today except to try and catch up on laundry and housework.

Glad to see all are accounted for....and our prayers do continue for you all.

Cloudy today....but only a very minor chance of rain.....no rain in Seattle will tie a 29 day record for this time of year....we sure do need rain...every thing is so dry and the fire danger is rising daily. Sure wish some of you east of us could share some of your rain..

Half day tomorrow then school is done!!!! Next year Sage will be at her new school and able to walk to and from......you can see the school grounds from her front door.....My taxi days are done !!! She will be spending the majority of the next five days with me. My SIL needs to go home for a few days so Laura will be staying with my MIL.....will sure be glad when she is back on her own....I know she is tired of constant house guests.

Dog and cat thing we need an outing so will talk to everyone later.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone.
Tubby and Shirley, please know that we are thinking of you often, and sending prayers your way. Please keep us posted.

Barb glad to hear the good news from you too!

He is doing better, and finally has a little color in his cheeks.
He has a big ulcer at the bottom of his stomach, but it will be treated with meds. No surgery is needed. He still needs at least 2 more units of blood, and hopefully come home Friday or Saturday.
Thanks for all the prayers

Grab your kleenex

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was:

A four-year-old child, whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman, who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy just said, 'Nothing, I just helped him cry...'

This is the cutest breast cancer email I have ever received.

A small request:

Oh Tubby that's so cute, helping him 'cry'...glad you are back but got to tell you, you are costing me $$$...got to go purchase more kleenex..lol
but that's ok..boxes of kleenex are cheap...

LindaKay bet you are relieved that it is not necessary to have surgery...meds and your loving care he'll be up and at it in no time...now you can breathe without worry...

We're just like mother hen's, need to know our chicks are ok...it will be nice to see Sage get into a school closer to home..you do a lot of 'taxi' service if I remember correctly...

Just drops of rain but it's coming .. hopefully NOT before I get home

Ate at the local buffet, shouldn't go there always eat far too much and then feel dreadful afterwards..thinks it's the sweets...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty he's doing alright with it but hates it. It allows us less time because I work from 8am to 4:30pm, he works from 2:30pm to 11pm, so when I get up he's asleep. When I get home he's gone to work. When he gets home I'm asleep. It sucks but it also gives me the freedom that I need to maintain my sanity. I'm not one of those who wants to be around someone all the time, no matter who it is.

Buffets are always bad bad bad but they can be so good good good.

Barb & Tubby I'm so glad ya'll posted, we were all worried all over the place

LK I'm so sorry for your troubles, but looking forward to a speedy recovery.

I came right home after work and was going to do my online studies my boss wants all of us in the office to do. Shoot, logged onto it and also Facebook at the same time, first mistake. I got a chat from one of my old co-workers in CA, so talked to him for an hour, then my mom's friend came on asking how she was doing but her internet connection in a hotel was real bad, then my mom came on but her internet connection was real bad in her hotel, so I told my mom to call her friend, then call me back, that's been 2 hours now. Meantime I watered, chatted with the neighbors, cooked the cheesiest hamburger helper I've ever had, and now chatting with you all.

Best of Today: Someone is still being very nice to me
Worst of Today: I can't think of a worse.
Learned: If you want to get something that's serious done, don't try to incorporate it with playing!

Although Crissy I'm on facebook I rarely remember to access it...in fact it's 3 times they've had to start me over because I can't remember my password..then I lose all my contacts...family and friends must be getting tired of having to accept me as a contact..lol

Girls just left...Rita whose husband is an O.P.P. Officer said I'd best not be speeding tomorrow on the 400HWY...plane is out looking for speeder...I take side roads now so I can enjoy the scenery so don't have to worry about it..

June and Pat are doing Adirondak Chairs...I had painted a primitive window insert (did about 6 for DIL for her woodpiece and forgot to give them to her for Christmas) well they decided to do their chairs like it...

They've tired me out, time for bed...

Best of today....hearing from Tubby, Barb and AnnMarie! good news as well about Todd so all around it's been a prayer answered type of day

Worse...hearing sad news about a friend

What did I learn today...Police are patrolling the 400Hwy..that will come in handy..have to call Suzanne and the girls early tomorrow morning..they are the speedsters..me I'm the old granny driving type...

Good Lord willing we'll gab tomorrow,
Night/night...

New Grocery Store.

A new supermarket opened in Davenport, Iowa . It has an automatic
water mister to keep the produce fresh. Just before it goes on, you
hear the sound of distant thunder and the smell of fresh rain.

When you pass the milk cases, you hear cows mooing and you experience
the scent of fresh mowed hay.

In the meat department there is the aroma of charcoal grilled steaks
with onions.

When you approach the egg case, you hear hens cluck and cackle, and
the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon and eggs frying.

The bread department features the tantalizing smell of fresh baked
bread & cookies.

I don't buy toilet paper there anymore!!!!!

Quick check in....I am tired! Mom gave us an early anniversary gift (40 years on Sunday). She got us a 125 gallon hard shell pond liner and filter. The old pond is in bad shape and too shallow to keep fish. This one is deep enough!! I spent the afternoon moving lava rock and preparing the bed to sit the pond on. Tomorrow get to start potting plants and disassembling the old pond surround and transferring all of that rock to surround the new pond. I think it is going to be really nice when it is all done....if my back survives it.

Think I am going to call it a night.
Have a good night everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning "Tubby"..so nice to wake up and have my coffee with you...feeling ok today?

Trisha, omg your mom could not have give you a better gift...bet you were thrilled...just think about all the different designs you'll be able to do around it...a new look...what did your hubby think of it or does he enjoy the gardens as well? Know Roger would have said, 'ok mom, now where's mine' jokingly of course...

You know when a storm is moving in and the winds are up, sky is heavy and you know it's going to rain any second, we'll that's what it was like last night when the girls left..no rain all night, still feels the same this morning...sure hope it's not waiting to give us the what for tomorrow afternoon just in time for the weekend...

Girls that painted yesterday in daytime loved my metal table and one wanted to take home the book unit..if by Tuesday I don't find somewhere to put it think I'll give it to her for her birthday which is this Sunday..she can pick it up on painting day..

Was up until midnight last night, that's extra late for me, wanted to sleep in this a.m. and I'm moving slowly so best I run for now...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Tubby it is noce to see you again. Welcome back. I hope your feeling better?
Beautiful painings everyone. So pretty!
I finally got a good nights sleep, with the help of some ambien.
I am going to take a shower, and then will be off to the hospital again. As soon as we can get his hemoglobin numbers up, I can bring him home.
You all have a great day!

Liz, what are you cooking up that you don't want Kenny to know about..probably something not good! how has his health been, is he going for regular checkups? Dragonfly is a beauty..paperwork, don't you just hate it...

LindaKay hope Todd's numbers are up so you can bring him home..better care he'd have I'm sure...is he angling to get out?

Trisha, thinking of you today playing with your pond..how deep is it? I was thinking of taking a ride to Molson's Park Drive at lunch or tonight and see if the pet store has fishies...

Liz, pond plants here cost a fortune..some between $15. and $25.00 and you don't get much for that..so, my pond is surrounded by plants in fact right now you can barely see I have a pond they are so high so will have to do with that...

Bought a book this morning for a pattern..don't you just love this idea..corner unit (which I need something in a corner near back entrance to pretty it up)...no need for planting, pots just slip in...

Wish this labtec computer camera took better photo's....I'll try another...the plans are in the book, think I have pretty much everything I need except the boards and those are easily accessible...

Betty, I received a mailer recently on the reblooming lilacs. They bloom twice a year. Can't remember the name. Will look and see if I still have the mailer, as i was interested....but DH did that "and where are you going to put this one" issue. Might have gotten tossed!

We have rain, quite a bit of rain actually. Looks very gloomy out there, but we need the rain....I still have to go out and water all the pots on the porch.

Liz, best you hop on getting those documents..not just needed for passport, birth certificate is important document you should have...come girl..you said you'd visit..wouldn't be any more $$$ to fly here than anywhere else..lol

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

Well now, it is so wonderful to see you, Tubby, Barb...
Thank you Shirley for keeping in touch with Tubby. Now Mister, you be good and try not to over do things...I hope the news is good.
Barb, So wonderful to hear Norm is doing so well.

LOL, Liz good luck with that, I hope all turns out well...
I think Jake was the one who "got" everyone! Althought it didn't matter as he literally plunged himself in the bucket! hahahha and got stuck, and they all just left him there, lol who needs television when ya got crazy teens to watch...
We had the girls out front loading water balloons, Jake and Anthony in the back loading...and I was put to work tying and untying recycled balloons...hehehe, couldn't help but to accidently let the water squirt at the boys!

Oh Betty, wow, you ladies are incredible artists...I could just sit and watch you all day long. Looks like you all had a good time...Ohhhh, that little fence container is adorable!!
Funny, 'cuz I thought you had a rose of some kind, so glad you found it again so full of buds...but you can never have just one! got to get another...
Geesh, was sorry to hear about Bernie, did they find out why that lawyer didn't come? How aggrevating and sad...

Trisha, Happy Anniversary on Sunday to you!! (I'll be at the house...no computer) What a great gift from your mom, how incredibly sweet. You be careful moving all the surround stuff, I hope you have some help. How exciting, though can't wait to see pictures.
How wonderful that Sage will be able to walk to school...

Linda Kay, excellent news about Todd, well, I mean they found what the problem is and it's treatable...hope those numbers get up to. I am glad you were able to get in a goodnight sleep.

Mary...How are things going?

Hello Crissy and Debbie...
Carol Bev Shar...Hope everyone is have a great day so far.

Yesterday was incredibly busy, Whew I was exhausted and even went to bed before 9:30, was just going to rest lol next thing I know Steve is saying have a good day!
But very productive, worked the entire day for Steve...lots of paperwork, and I figured out how create a mail merge! always new how to merge labels but never an actual document so Thats what I Learned yesterday!! Then there was an issue with the business cards, so had to fix them, ROFLOL it was sort of a guess game, so when Steve asked how did you do that, had to laugh, had absolutley
no idea!

Well, now that everyone is back "home" and things are looking up, I want to tell you something very exciting to us!! Actually three things, so "bear" with me.

#1...Family decided we want another bird, We are waiting for the news on when we can choose, right now it is about 3 weeks old! It's a Green Cheek Conure...(miniture Parrott!) However the girls are having a hard time with it taking over Feathers Cage. lol they will allow it to be in an occasional use, like out on the deck or at the house...so looking into new cages. Also I need to check with the vet about weening...We will be very busy as this such a tiny lil creature, literally will be caring for a brandnew babe, i am sorta scared! But it is suggested to do this as it might get to attached to mother and not people...Must also check into a warming thing...so much to do, so I am glad i am still home...So thats a big decision.

#2. Woohooo, We are booked for Our trip to the Mediteranean...Will be there 2 weeks! Will be in Greece on our 25th Anniversay...More about that later.
Anyway, Mary..if you are planning a trip, believe me you'll want to book a year in advance...Steve was diligent on searching for everything every morning, OMG, Had a hard time with plane...gotta realy watch as they booked almost immediatley!

And the Best News of all!! We, Steve and I decided to Bust a move! By the end of the month, The "cottage" will be all ours!! No more sharing, bickering, and all the stuff that goes with owning something with a partner...Truley a dream come true for us, So our retirement is definatley set, not to mention with the way things are going we have a safety net...
So thats how things are going...

Of course I have been typing all morning here.
So I better see who said what whil I dilly dally typing all my blab!

woohoo, sun is finally coming out!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi all!

Just wanted to let you all know Im home finally! no way can I catch up on all that I missed :o( so smack me if I am totally in the dark on stuff k? I sure hope everyone is happy and HEALTHY!! (Health is now #1 on my own priority list!)

Thank you all for the wonderful prayers, cards and dmails.... they definitely brightened my homecoming!

Unfortunately no gardening for this gal for the rest of this season....so I'll have to just watch all the pictures you all post and enjoy your gardens in lieu of my own.

{{hugs and health to all!}}
AnjL

Glenview, IL

A N J L....Big happy Gentle ARMWRAPS.
So good to see your home!! Sit back and enjoy lots of beauties your friends have all around DG.
lol and they do love to share!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

:o) thanks.... hugs are always needed :o)

just realized after I typed the above post.... If I cant garden... I CAN paint! Have some wonderful brushes that Betty sent to me and I never even got a chance to use them! Think I'll get out my paints this afternoon when my son goes off to dads :oD I can paint pix of last years garden lol!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, when things go well for you they really go well..imagine..you are such a pet, know how excited you get...can imagine you bubbly, jumping up and down and giggling like a teen..I'm so very happy for you...mostly for getting the cottage for yourselves and not sharing...with all that going on you'll have to go find a job..lol...

Thought the planter Judy had the measurements with the instructions..nope..said it was a kit $275.00 plus shipping I think but you know me, I'll have the measurements and design done before the end of the day and wow didn't have much planned for this weekend, who knows, might be one made by then...

Victoria Harbour, ON

There you go AnnMarie..you are right, perfect time to be playing with those brushes...think $$$ store even has canvas for sale...with the entire summer ahead you just might have enough for a showing..

All kidding aside, I'm so glad you are home, thank goodness your mom was with you to help you over the difficult times...you've been away for quite some time...would it be rude of me to ask what they found that kept you in so long...know you had issues and shared with us before, but from your hospital bed when first admitted, they were trying to get your body into sleeping mode...

You sound as though you are in good spirits...are you feeling stronger..

You won't overdo will you? no did you say...that's a promise we'll keep you to..we'll all share our gardens..each day we'll post the flower of the day for you..hey, you might even try and paint it...

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

:o) now that would be fun Betty! definitely challenging! lol!

I have lots of canvas here already...so really no excuses...well unless I want to use acrylics lolol! I cant drive...and med bills prevent splurging at art store for now....but plenty of oil supplies to keep me busy thru the summer lol!

what kept me sick so long.... well.... medication is really poison! at least in my body it is! The long and short of it is.... My Native American DNA means that my liver enzymes are different. They dont reak down medication the same as European DNA. I had been prescribed over 40 different medications since sept 08 (not all at one time lol!) and my body was not able to break those meds down and dispose of them properly. The medications were actually making me sick.

I am now only on one med. I still have outpatient care 3 times a week, I cant drive or be out in the sun. and I REALLY dont want to ever see a hospital again!! LOLOL! way too many visits this past year lol!

so I really do promise not to over do it again lolol!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do you have a shaded area that you can sit out in AnnMarie or is it that if you are out where the rays can touch you, you are in trouble? know the months that I'm allergic to the sun it doesn't matter wether I sit in the shade or not, it's just being outside..

Do you find that the oil paints (chemicals) bother you in any way...omg I've so many tubes..should check them out and if all are ok ship them to you..nearly put in garbage not long ago when I was purging...

I enjoyed oils but like Genesis so much better..heat set no sprays to help quick dry like used in oils...I'm sure as long as you don't expect too much of yourself you might just enjoy resting...

Hospitals..difficult when you are in for long periods of time..

Must tell you a little story..when I was 17 I met Roger..imagine this, 1st date we went for a ride and he was showing me homes he thought one day we could own, now here I was 17 and he 22..ok, I'm thinking something is wrong with this guy...about a month later, my kidneys gave up and into the hospital I went..every night he'd visit after work..weekends he'd spend Sat./Sun with me...about 4 months later, my still being in the hospital we got engaged..great place to get engaged..lol, we planned the wedding for Nov.27th and this was in Sept. by now...in October my girlfriends/family had wedding showers..I was still in the hospital..they opened gifts for me, told me what I had and I'd get excited..of course I had been told I'd be home for it, but no go..we planned our wedding from my hospital bed...I was to marry on a Saturday and they let me out on Thurs. (almost ended up back in the hospital) then on my wedding day, I was made to nap several times...couldn't go on a true honeymoon as the doctors wanted me within 1/2 hr. of the hospital...so here we were bride/groom, best man, bridesmaid (SIL) all way for the night...SIL came incase I fell ill...when I think about it I just shake my head...Roger always said he married me because he thought I was on my way out and he'd get a big death benefit cheque and also more girls would be interested in him because they'd feel for his loss...you'd have to know Roger..always a smart remark...few weeks after our 25th anniversary it was he who passed on...

Do know about long stays in the hospital...let's hope things get under control with the meds and you'll be home for good!

Did you lose a lot of weight?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Please don't overdo anything Angl, we miss you!! I'm assuming the med you're on won't allow you to see sunlight. We'll post plenty for you!

Judy Hi!! Going to the Mediterranean! How fun, I bet you're excited. That would be a great bird if you can get it to come to you, is it a her or him? Yay for the cottage!!

Liz it's not good to not have your birth certificate, you never know when you're going to need it. Passports are easy to get too.

Well it's lunch time, Hello Betty, Debbie, Tubby, Barb, and everyone else!!!
