Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #109

Judy, your rose is beautiful, and that is such a sweet thing to do.

Here is your picture, J, nobody else can see it, only you.
I do love my blue garden.

But I have a limb down just behind it right now. I drove through a wind/hail/rain/thunder/lightning storm a little while ago as I was coming home from the marina. No damage really, but this crazy limb down in my blue garden. Sheesh.

LK, Prayers for you and hubby and all those who need them.

AWWW...Thank you Shar, just lovely.

Love that little set, is it iron and wood? Yep the color is great.

Oh yaeah, Love the rainbow picture and Daylillies too.
Wow your poor trees have taken some serious beating from storm, sure hope that the last.
Glad you got home safe and sound, yike I hate driving in Storms.

Woohoo..Kids got into a spur of the moment huge Water ballon fight! LOL, I am afraid to go outside lest I get caught in the cross fire!
Jake is re-cycling Breenie's Birthday balloon...They are S O A K E D, was sitting her in laughter at all their squeeling laughing and charging around like tornado's.

Debbie, congratulations to DS...I love have another driver in the family. Breenie has to wait too, she was too late signing up, lol could be a good thing for my nerves.

Betty, I think you should have a rose!! Go for it. and yep those litlle roses do count. Enjoy your sunshine.

Raining again...

So thought maybe I would share some blooms with you.

Here is my racoon story! Last night kids were sitting out on the deck, when they here this sound and so all turned to see.
It was a baby racoon playing with a stone! Wish I could have seen it. They said it just played and watched them.

Anyway, I am glad that this year I can show you blooms instead of jungles!

I've two Peonies...This is the biggest I've seen them in years!

Thumbnail by Seedtosser1

this is the other, just starting to bloom, kind of funny as this one gets alot more sun then the other
a late bloomer!

And my other Rose, She is called Garden Party.
I don't know it suppose to be a lavander color, thought it would be pretty mixed with the yellow.
She's got 4 buds! This one is the biggest.

I've got Alaskan Daisies, and coreopsis that have nice buds...

Daylilies...looking good but no buds yet.

Also new this year are Lambs ear, which boohoo, something Ate one! thought they were deer resistant, guess not.

Shar, that's a fantastic photo and we did peek at least I did..lovely how you are color co-ordinated..you must get that particular photo framed...you are so photogenic...drats, another storm, you really have been getting hit...

Judy, oh my goodness what a difference a year makes...no wonder you are excited but then remember you've been home this year and have had time to work in the gardens..and work you have...

I so hope I'll have peonies this year..I see ants around, isn't that the trick...do you have them staked?

Love coleus...such pretty colors now..got one which was different the other day, almost looks like a poinsettia (?)..

Got home, watered everything although why I did I don't know as you can hear some rumbling going on..was going to Bernice's to get some ground cover but they have workers doing their roof all around the verandah, so I've waited and now they are gone but no energy..need to sew for an hour or so before the swap squad comes looking for me...

As for the roses Judy, I forgot, someone gave me a wild rose and it's on the side of the veranda in back yard, just noticed it has buds...but having wild roses isn't the same as having cultured - is that what they call them..

My mind isn't working very well tonight, thought process is off so I'm not going to do much..should go and purchase 'bingo' cards but getting to 1 number early in the game and waiting and no winning the jackpot not sure I want to play...

Think I'll take my camera and go see if anything has bloomed..nothing like you Judy, don't know why because I think we're in the same zone, but perhaps you've had more sun...

Off I go, if I find anything I'll post....

Ohhh what I did do on my way home though (always keep scissors in my car) I stopped and picked different flowers along the roadside..sure hope I don't get poisin ivy...but got 3 containers filled...smells nice...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not much out there, but took a few..

Judy this is my Eades garden...still much to bloom in it..I think we are about 3 weeks behind everyone else in same zone..

This is the coleus I was talking about...

All the plants that are blooming are the plain Jane type plants..nothing tropical as many of you have..sure wish they could survive our winters...

Not sure what it's called, but it's pretty..not really flowers but the seed ends give it a flowered look..must get my journal out and start sketching the gardens and as I learn which is which enter it...

I do keep the names, either I mark them on a marker or keep the tag but they either fade or blow away...

sweet williams are starting to come out..they are always great for spring fillers.

As you can see not much happening yet..

LindaKay, a bouquet of roadside wild flowers just for you...any news on DH?
Are you close to the hospital he is in?

If you notice, I've even got the sewing machine out..you've got me back quilting..lol

Judy, counted over 40 buds, so this wild rose will shortly be in bloom..everyone says I shouldn't have put it near the house but in the back bush...guess it gets quite overgrown...not sure why!

You might be able to see some of the roses budding out...think they are pink..

Last one and I'm off for my bath..

Showed you part of this area the other day, but more is blooming..I've giant size daisies, another few weeks before they are in bloom

I've got a bad feeling..the other day Barb got my Red/White/Blue swap, said on the swap thread she needed to replace her batteries and that Norm was on his way for a ride I believe to get some..that was Sat. or Sun. and I've not seen her on any of the threads she gabs on, not even Norm's prayer thread...

As well, our Tubby ALWAYS starts the day with giving us a smile or two and he's been MIA...

If any of you see posts by either of these 2 friends can you let us know...

In the meantime, sending prayers to all in need...

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Beautiful gardens, Betty and Judy and all of you.
Betty that sort of mint green one you picked is a type of euphorbia I think....spurge, graveyard grass it's also called. It is quite invasive, though, but I do love it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good evening everyone.
Betty, love the floers, thank you so much!
Just a quick update about Todd.
They think he has a bleeding ulcer, (due to too many motrin) and possibly a hiatal hernia. Don't know the proper spelling.
So they will be going in the morning with a scope, to find out exactly where, and what. Then they will tell us what they are going to do!
He has been bleeding internally for quite some time, because he has lost 3/4 of his blood volume, so they are giving him his second unit of blood tonight, and probably 2 more tommorrow!
So we are both going to try and get a good nights sleep.
I will post again some time tomorrow afternoon, when I know more details!
Thank you so much for the thoughts, prayers and hugs!

LK

Betty, Barb posted on my prayers thread on the 14th..

Oh so Lovely a stroll through your Gardens Betty.
Your Eades garden is looking beautiful...smiles.

I really must agree too, Shar I think that photo of you should be gifted to your Children!
You are just a remarkable woman I think...in fact I am going to print that one if you don't mind.

I hope you are doing ok in this weather...know you don't like Storms, want a ringle jingle?
LOL, promise I will talk calm and slow, hehehe.

Linday Kay, sweetie, what a shock, I am Praying for you and Todd, Thanking as well that you cought this pretty quick.
Also that they can diagnos fast...He is in good hands so I hope you will be able to get a good nights rest...

Thanks Shar and Betty about my gardens.
LOL, got to say, they are simple but full of shear Joy.

Mary,How did the surgery go?

We are BBQing in the dark and the rain...Sigh.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats/drats and more drats...send a long post and it was sending then cut off, said I lost my webpage and didn't post..

LindaKay, was thanking you for your update on Todd..that is a lot of blood he's lost, no wonder the poor man felt ill..let's hope tomorrow they find an easy fix..is it anything they can do by scope do you think? So you'll be having company for awhile...
Sending you both prayers...

Shar, spurge it is, as soon as I saw your post and your naming it, I remembered...didn't realize it was invasive though, I'll be sure to keep a close look at it..

Debbie, I know the 14th doesn't seem like a long time, but Barb had just posted that Norm had gone for a ride (think it was to get batteries for her camera) and she'd be right back to post...that's 2 days ago...nope, have a bad feeling..

Well I've had quite a night..I cut the material for my quilt block, now I'm not normally so dense, done lots of quilt blocks, concept worked ok...except when I sew them together my block is 11" rather than 12"..sew with a 1/4 seam allowance so my mind musn't be with it...have to get it mailed though or I'll be in big doo doo so tomorrow it's back to the drawing board..think I'll look for colored paper and do a paste of the block to see where to he.l I'm going wrong..

Best of the day..a call from a very good friend Christine..she'll be in the area (owns and runs cottages but 1/2 hr. from here) and wants to know if I'd like to visit for the day when she's back in the area...her twin daughters just finished University...she's just retired from teaching and can't understand how she ever worked..just no time..so it will be nice visiting with her...

Worse..called Bernie to see what happened today with the insurance lawyers..wouldn't you know, they didn't show..apparently one of the lawyers had family emergency..this is 3 times now..Bernie's lawyer will go to the courts and see if they can't find a quick court date..I feel so sorry for Bernie..he'll not last long, soon he'll have no home...

What did I learn today...that I forgot June's birthday..can't believe I did that...I'll call tomorrow with apologies..got to get a better system going with anniversaries and birthdays...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mary I'd love to stay up and hear how the surgery went and gab with you all but falling asleep, it really is well past my bedtime...

I'll drop in while you are sleeping...

God bless you all!

Quick scan and a wave to all....haven't seen Barb or Tubby around either....and continued prayers for Todd and you too LK...as well as all others in need right now.

Finished weeding a Doris's and came home and did my front yard.....ready for dinner and a bath...not necessarily in that order....

Just picked up a couple of rainbow mixed Coleus......my old rose is blooming...has been here since before I moved here....my snapdragons, lavenders and yarrow are about the only other things I have blooming right now....

I am tired...will check back in later.....have a good night everyone.

LK I am so sorry to hear about your DH! Thoughts and prayers for both of you.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I went back through the current room on SI and Barb hasn't been on that one at all...it started on the 13th....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sunshine this morning although they are calling for rain, I'll enjoy it while it lasts...back looking through the threads, no Barb! thanks for looking for her as well Trisha..

Sounds as though you've put in quite a week with gardening..know you felt badly about taking the clean-up/landscaping from the young fellow but Laura could use the help..bet the yard looks fabulous, who knows, might be a new career you are venturing in..

LindaKay, hope Todd has had a comfortable night..be praying for both of you today...

I've a frown on my face, no Tubby joke or inspiration to start my day....

Marion, how are the fingers doing, have you and kitty made up?

Going for a coffee and relax for an hour before starting my day...

Hope it will be sunshine in your neighborhood..

Good Morning Everyone! Tubby says Smile! I'm typing this message as it really bothers Tubby's neck to sit here and do this part. We went to the Oncologist yesterday, he wants to do an MRI on his neck and spine as Tubby's been having so much stiffness & discomfort and some labs to have a base line and make sure nothing else going on. They are going to get him started on Revlimid and Decadron(steroid) to bring the counts down and then we will talk more about another stem cell transplant. The steroid is the one that made him "goofier then a pet coon." I can't tell you we look forward to that part, but will do what is needed to make this all possible and have more time. Will let you know how things are going as we move forward with this. Thanks for caring and hope you all have a great day, God Bless! Shirley

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Tubby & Shirley, so glad to hear from you both.

I so understand the Decadron, hate that with a passion. My DD was on it for 2 years. Would wake up at 1:00 in the morning and want steak on the grill with blue cheese...yuck! She was 3 to 5 years old during that time....and if she didn't get what she wanted....the head would spin, screaming curdling sounds coming out. We made the steak....or kept chicken wings frozen for this when it went to that craving. Chicken wings with kraft cheese melted on the top...and dipped in...blue cheese! OMG! The child still doesn't eat normal at 18! And I think her moods are still right there witht he decadron! LOL

Tubby holding you close in prayers! Let us provide smiles for you for a bit, OK?

Betty, I have been trying to find a phone number for Barb....no luck yet, but I won't give up.

I did check the "news" stations in that area....and found nothing with their names and am doing the newspaper search now.

I have my "krink" back in my neck. So, sipping tea this morning and some motrin.

BBL
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shirley, thanks sweetie for giving us an update on 'Tubby'..knew something must be up for him not to be joking and kidding around with us..he's dear..sounds like a rough road ahead..will be including you both in my prayers...please continue to join us and update..know he'll be missing us as well..chuckle/chuckle...

Debbie, you and I are so alike, was thinking the same..wonder if I keyed in area newspapers then thought what a silly girl I am, they've probably just gone for a few days or at home enjoying the sunshine and not even thinking we'd be worried...

Bit of a change in weekend forecast...overcast but close to high 60's..now when is summer rolling in?

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I looked through local newspapers there...saw nothing. I did find a phone number. Just wondering if that is the right thing to do.

My cats are playing KittyNascar and driving me crazy. Frankie has parked himself up here at the computer, and every time I move my hand away from him...he takes his paw and pulls me back towards him. So much fun trying to type! LOL

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I keep forgetting to tell you. I picked up the forms for the extended drivers license yesterday....and hopefully will be able to turn them in next Thursday (payday) and get that in process! Also...we filled out Shanes forms also, so he will have his with his new permit/license when he gets it.

On the news this morning, a woman was crossing from Canada into NY, and apparently had had a "nuclear" medical procedure. She was so "hot" she set off the alarms five rows across the lines! They had to pull all the people in, and make sure everyone was safe and figure out what to do.

As for 4th of July. That is the "big day" here in our town. Starts bright and early, craft show down on the school grounds, a huge parade that lasts a bit over an hour....all community people/teams/firetrucks/businesses in it...nothing spectacular. Usually a chicken barbecue downtown also. Then at 10:00 pm. the fireworks start.

BRB...looks like s storm moving in, gotta go pick up a few things outside.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Shirley and Tubby I am so glad you wrote in! Lots of prayers for you both, we all miss you!

What's Barb's user name?

LOL Kitty Nascar!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I was thinking of getting that special pass Debbie that you don't have to wait in line once you approved..think you go to the customs before crossing and apply..takes awhile to get and think the cost is $50.00...oh boy, maybe your son can drive you over if you are not comfortable in driving yourself..always things to do..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy it's Quilter5bdsr...not like her to go missing...you probably all think I'm daft to be worrying just for a few days..regardless what threads everyone is one I go lurking to try and find you all if you've not posted in awhile..all mean so much to me..don't want to think anything negative has happened...moral of this post..DON'T GO MISSING!

Lyndonville, NY

No Betty, I am not afraid to drive myself at all. I have no problem with that, more worried about getting lost on the way there. I have drivin in very heavy traffic for years, so that doesn't bother me at all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Very easy Debbie...I'd be thrilled if you could visit ..2 extra bedrooms just waiting..any idea how long it takes to get it once you apply? I think that they still allow children under the age of 15 if they have proper i.d. have to go re-check ...

Will be a week tomorrow I've applied so we'll see how long before it comes in..

Too Sweet
Miss Ya All
Grab a kleenex

An eye witness account from New York City, on a cold day in December, some years ago: A little boy, about 10-years-old, was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold.

A lady approached the young boy and said, 'My, but you're in such deep thought staring in that window!'

'I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,' was the boy's reply.

The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her.

She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel.

By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks... Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes...

She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said, 'No doubt, you will be more comfortable now.'

As she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face, with tears in his eyes, asked her. 'Are you God's wife?'

No, she said, "I'm just one of His children."

Victoria Harbour, ON

Am crying "TUBBY" we sure have been missing you...you aren't doing too much now are you? Hope Shirley can keep you under control!
