Good morning all, hated to move us over, such pretty photo's of families and gardens posted last night...please click on the link and see what I mean..
Debbie, what a gorgeous looking girl..but then her mom's a looker and she must get it from her!
Bev, how are you feeling today? Have you been to the trailer this week at all...love the photo ..such vibrant colors...your gardens are specatacular....
I'm up early, thought I might get a few hours of sewing in before the dew is off the grass and I can play outside...really didn't have any 'to do' s for my weekend but seems I'm able to fill in the days with no problem...
Left several windows open last night...great for sleeping but brrrr in the morning...off to have my coffee..
Am sure many of you are up and at it...
Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #109
Debbie..what wonderful photos of your beautiful daughter Carrie.
and gorgeous Asiatic lilies. Do you fertilize them?
My neighbour caught the raccoon (in a cage) that has been digging in pots etc.
They took it away and let it go several miles from here. I hope he doesn't find his way back..LOL
I bought a few more plants yesterday to replace the ones he destroyed.
I saw a pretty rose at the garden centre..but resisted..came home and did a bit of research on it..hmmmm still thinking about it.
But I promised myself I wouldn't buy any more roses..20 is enough to care for. Can't have everything I see and like....It is called Belle Isis and has a lovely fragrance..that is what I most liked about it.
I have 4 bags of mulch sittng in my car....I may put that down today.
Sage's frog stone is cute...what a great job she did.
More coffee...
Oh....I took another photo of my newly opened Iris that Bev identified as Crinkled Joy. You can see it has opened up more.
Have a great day everyone.
Carol, What time does the nursery open??? Now you know you have room for 1 more rose...if you think about it much longer another gardener will be enjoying it..off you go..
Crinkle Joy is stunning in color..
As for the racoon, is a few miles away far enough away? He just might be back...those live traps are fantastic..allows you to catch them but not inure them..
Would think you are getting much the same weather as we are today, won't it be fun to enjoy the day outside?
Batik ? It's truly stunning...you know I look around the nurseries here but just don't see these 'treasures' must be looking in the wrong department...
I can just imagine your gardens starting to bloom how beautiful it must be to walk along those garden rooms...Garden of Eden in it's own right? lucky you..
Yes, like the little table and it has a bit of concave to it, because I have so many feeders (which I must fill today) I thought I'd get a pot of hanging flowers and set it on it...
Oh Carol, that nursery at Hwy 9 and Airport Rd. was to die for, never have I seen plants so large and healthy...did what you are doing, saying I don't need any of it and now I'm kicking myself for not purchasing a few hanging baskets - one for the outdoor frame, now it will mean another trip there which I know I'll make..perhaps on Friday after work...
Moral of my story Carol, is go get the rose plant...
Doing washing and slack shortening and each time I pass the computer it's a must to stop and look at all the beautiful plants...you flowers are so well manicured Bev....must give you great joy walking amongst them...
morning all,
carol whoo hoo! hope its gone for good, beautiful color on iris wow
betty,have fun at the nursery
trisha, oh wow that is so cool where is the mold from? i love it!
finally got a new computer wow is it fast! now to get use to it all lol
think i have to work on clean up detail dh will be up soon cracking the whip on throw out everything again ttyl
everyone have a good day
Thankyou Betty but you haven't seen other parts of the gardens. I weed from Jan if I can to Dec if I have a warm enough day and still don't get it all done. This arber is on the ground from the winds and heavy rains. We are still going to get rain every ohter day till end of next week. I am afraid it will wash out all my other liliy blooms. BEV
What beautiful lillies! OMG the colors! I was able to move Moms...and the have blooms. I am excited to see the colors as i can't remember.
I have a wedding shower, so will be gone most of the day.
Have a wonderful day everyone,
Debbie
Debbie, you must enjoy having flowers that belonged to your mom.. enjoy your shower..I've a baby shower July 12th in the city and not looking forward to the drive..almost hope its a rainy day..my SIL would have a caniption if she heard me say that..having almost 80 and hoping for nice weather...
Bev, had trouble with one of my arbors as well, what I ended up doing is screwing a few pieces of wood to the base and then digging about 4" and setting it in and filling with earth again..heaviness of the earth keeps it stable in high winds...
well got MIL's slacks all shorten except for 2..we were shortning her slacks to 27 inches and these 2 were already 27 inches so do hope I didn't make an error and have to do them again, not sure why she sent me them unless she just assumed they were too long..called but no answer (maybe they saw who it was) lol....
Ready for the outside..overcast and not the warmest...
OMG, how pretty...how did you survive your day..lots of friends/family and pressies??? hope so..
Sun did come out, started to work in the garden and Greg came..we had to staple rug on the trailer, he says it makes it easier for taking boat in and out...so gave him a hand..thank goodness for mom and her tools, air stapler made it so much easier
I got out of helping just after starting..Ann and Melissa dropped over..Melissa (Ann's daughter) just had her biopsy for the 3rd. time..she should know how they'll deal with the growth in her throat...meanwhile it's Ann's husband Mike who had cancer and undergoing 25 treatments of radiation...Mike was told on Thursday that with the catscan just done they see changes...he sees the surgeon on Tuesday..now why do they tell people that, why not just wait until his regular appt. with surgeon, now they've been worrying since..not sure if the changes were positive or not in his favor...
Back home, Greg's gone to pick up the bottom end of the boat, has to be put on before it goes on the trailer..he took it off to paint and service...
Asked me where my 3 large rhubbarb leaves were going, don't know, but told him to go on his way and by the time he got back I'd have somewhere...just shakes his head!
So I cut into the earth 3 layers, not sure if it's deep enough to make a staircase to the side entrance of the secret garden...reason I call mine 'secret' is because of the tree line, if you didn't know there were 2 little rooms within you'd never see it...
Don't recognize it either Crissy but sure is pretty....you'll have to baby it along and see what it becomes...zinnia and coreopsis makes a nice display ..glad you are enjoying your new camera..is it easy to download?
For a person who had nothing planned for the weekend I sure kept myself busy but, getting tired, time to clean the tools and come in and relax...supper already done..lol...spaghetti it will be...
Michelle up the road (Bernice's daughter) was digging up iris and bulbs creating a fresh new look to her gardens as she's just bought the house...so a wheelbarrel filled with bulbs and iris is on it's way to my house...
Got the leaves placed in, although they look on the same level they are not, they are making a staircase...now to buy some creeping thyme or the likes to fill in where I dug up around them..need 1 more large one for the 1st step..although I have 2 bags of cement in my trunk I don't have any large leaves but know where to go get me some...lol and then that project is complete...find it easier to let the sun dry the leaves then they just pull off like a skeleton..
OMG Crissy, peach tree and look at all the peaches...do you eat them and can them...mouth watering here girl...as for the plants that looks as though it's dying..could they have been tulips?
Drats I'm sure tired..going upstairs, having my bath and calling it a day..had left the sewing machine out, thought I might get to some quilt blocks but being this tired I'd surely screw them up so will leave them..who knows maybe tomorrow night I'll be wide awake...
Best of the day...watching Kyle get his certificate from the Mayor and a Municipal pin ..
Worse of the day...can't have anything bad when all you do is play in the garden...
What did I learn...that you can get a boat back onto a trailer from wooden pillars..so thought they'd drop it..lol
Good Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow,
Night / Night everyone
Wow, lots to catch up on...
Sorry I've been gone, just hurting..
My ribs are still sore to the touch and heaven forbid I cough or laugh...
So tomorrow i am going to get back to business, can't stand all this laying down when lots to be done.
Only played with the weedwrencch for a couple of tries.
Mary, Oh my your Daughter is so pretty. I am holding her in my prayers and thoughts too.
Beautiful, flowers everyone.
Betty, love the new little stairs, what nice enterance.
Last night was our reunion, it was wonderful to see so many of as gathered laughing and hugging, catching up on what people are doing.
Well, my former supervisor was suprised i came!! Huh, didn't quite get why. Got home very late so tonight trying to catch up on the last two days of posts.
and now, the kids decided Shepards pie for dinner so Julia and I are cooking! Yep I know it's late..lol
Can't do much for very long, so movng in mighty slow motion still.
Glad your Birthday was wonderful Linda Kay! Thanks for sharing your cake...delicious.
got to go check dinner...bbl.
Hey Judy - That is Deb's daughter - but no problem....folks get Deb & I mixed up quite a bit so we're alright with it....we have kids similar ages so that might be why...but she is gorgeous isn't she with those big eyes.....
Did you send me your Shepard's Pie recipe? If not - I would love to try it sometime...
This was the reunion of your old company you worked for ,,,correct? Bet you had a blast...
Crissy - The red leaved plant looks a lot like our Red Cannas....they have Red Leaves and should have red blooms one day...if DH will ever stop moving them and leave them alone.....
Betty - what a proud day! So the mayor actually made a house call to come by and congratulate Kyle!?! That's awesome...
I wondered how they were going to get the Foxy Lady off the posts.....and onto a trailer....glad it's up and running for the summer. Had great days boating but we've since sold the boat....
Love the stepping stones....didn't realize they would be shaped that way....the way I pictured them....so that was a neat surprise.....I wish I could mail you some of our Elephant Ear leaves.....
Hugs to all - back in a bit....
Mary
OH I love shepards pie! Perfect for dinner tomorrow or Tuesday! DH loves it also. I have been making a "cheater" potato....cooking the little red ones with the skins on....and mashing them up. So good, and extra fiber!
I found a recipe for a potato salad I want to try also with the little red potatoes, made with ranch dressing, crumbled bacon and.....my brain just died....but I think normal other ingredients for potato salad...just sounded so good.
Today was beautiful out, DH and I attempted to go for a walk , but the mosquito and other bugs were horrible. Swear they had landing gear!
Mary, there really are so many similarities with us....amazing! I love it, and glad to be confused with you any day.....I hate being confused on my own! LOL
Debbie
Hey Deb! Yes - happy to be confused with you any day as well!
You always have a way to make me laugh!
I'll have to try Shepards Pie....don't know anyone around here that makes it. Sounds like a good potato salad recipe...you'll have to share.... :)
We had "Fathers Day" today....and MIL as always had her yummy potato salad...makes me laugh...she always has to make one with dill ....and a special one with sweet pickles for DH....he doesn't like Dill.....
But we did have a sad beginning to the day....our family met up with Line, the Norwegian Exchange student, at the airport to send her off.....she had a GOOD send off with a lot of teens....I'll attach a pic....
2 of the girls made up a song (made up parts to the tune of Delilah) that they sang with Line's name in it.....and other than DH....there wasn't a 'dry eye' in the house...
(Rico - German went back a few weeks ago).
More in a bit,
Mary
PS: ALL these kids were crying before the pic was taken...you can tell who Line is ....her face is beet red from crying and blonde blonde hair.....my DD's on each end and DS on right.....
This is a Crocosmia....we just planted it back a few months ago.....the plant doesn't look so great...it's growing practically diagonal....
but here's a trick question / riddle......can you tell me why I was so excited when it bloomed?
Hugs,
Mary
PS; DG say's it's invasive...so I'm hoping it will fill out...any ideas?
Mary, I am with your DH....I have to have the sweet pickles in the potato salad also!
Those kids, hoooboy....I would have been crying right along with them. BUT to have a kid move away...that you have been so close too....they will be "family friendds" for life. I was crying on Friday when Shannon got her award at school....and I can't even imagine Graduation. Rumor has it she might be up for a special scholarship from one of our dear teachers that passed. I will loose it totally!
No idea on the flower...you have me there. Looks like a strange animal with a long snout to me.
Debbie
Hey Deb - Okay- well I've got some leftovers I'll send your way. :)
What special award did Shannon get? When is graduation? coming up soon I guess.....
Is everyone planning to come to the graduation?
Hey Sharran - I finished "The Shack"! Although it's a library book...I think I'm gonna hang on to it, and re-read it next weekend....but I definitely had tears in my eyes when I turned the last page....
I'm dying to give Deb a hint on the riddle BUT I'll wait until morning since most folks aren't on here at night....
Hugs,
Mary
