Thanks Jaye.

LOL!!!!Synda, that is why i color my hair.I hate to see grays. The ones i have i keep them colored.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep, Synda... I learned my lesson... Don't handle them till I ID them... with my camera... not my hands.
Actually, the stinging only lasted a few minutes... then it was gone.
BUT... NOPE... haven't learned my lesson about stealing flowers from the side of the roads... they're there, unattended, and all I want to do is spread the beauty... I'm not harmin' no body clipping those spent blooms.

Cody... I only colored once.. and that wasn't the gray.. I tried to put some gray streaks in the Lt Brown streak down the middle so it would blend in... was way too much trouble to keep that up... so I just keep it natural.
And that was my one and only attempt to ever have color put on my hair.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Seen some thistles growing in some parts of the property that we let nature takes over. They are pretty, and thank you BJ.. I shall stay away from them.
Got plenty of stinging nettles here too without being stung by thistles.

Synda, just grab you some Victoria Secret catalogues, and that will give you enough incentive to go for that surgery.

I don't gray well.... so I do hit the bottle!

I'm heading to bed early. Kinda exhausted from a long excursion in the daylily field.

Good night everyone..

Coushatta, LA

BJ,i have been putting color on my head since i was 18 years old.I never liked my natural color.

Good night Jaye,sleep well....

They say where there is a will there is a way....and Angel certainly seems to have the will! Seems to be doing well in spite of her problem. Will keep saying a little Goose Prayer for her.

smalltown, IL

Good Morning Ladies;
Well I sure am lost in the talks but I've been so busy with my own life that I just haven't made time for my friends..
**Update**
My husband and I have gotten back together and are going to start consoling shortly.. I got some potatoes planted yesterday and hope that they come up in the fall.Work is always busy and I had 2 graduations this year so that means 2 parties to attend in the next week...
Only bad part is that the weather won't make up it's mind!!!!

Well I hope everyone has a good day today..I'm off to make an Irish Breakfast...
TTYL.

Good morning everyone -

Clouding up here in Ohio - except where I want to work this morning ! I got up around 7am and began clearing a big spot to plant the yucca in. Even that early, the sun is bearing down. I worked for about an hour, had coffee with my DH, and decided to take a break with you.

I read your discussion on hair color. My hair was almost black when I was young. In my early twenties, I colored it almost the color it is now ! I love silver white hair. Mine was all changed by the time I was 40.

Marilyn and BJ - You are absolutely right about my pic. It was a gif. I hate it when that kind of thing happens. It makes me feel like I've lost my memory on how to do something I've done a million times.

Goose prayers - what is wrong with little Angel ? I must have missed that post. Such a pretty little girl.

Well, I don't think my face is purple anymore, so I will go try to make a hole for the yucca.

Later...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Good morning everyone !!!

Gosling prayers going up here too, Cody...

Well... nothing much going on today so far... but Don's been outside a few times already this morning, and acts like something's up... I'm afraid to ask him what his plans are for today.

I read the owner's manual for my new phone till late last night... of course, I had to use the lighted magnifier lamp to read it... and my eyes still got tired. I won't ever use all the stuff this phone will do... but Don did add TEXTING to our account, so now I don't have to cringe every time my granddaughters send me a text message... I just have to learn to text now... UGH... one thing I've vowed never to do...
I figure, if someone wants to tell me something, I want to hear their voice when they do... but I guess I better get up with the times, and change my ways...

Good to see you again Lisa... hope the renewed relationship with DH works out for you...

Good morning to you too, Penny. Don't over do it out there.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

I've been coloring my hair for so long I don't know what color it's supposed to be. :)). I do know that the gray is winning and though I would like to stop the coloring I'm afraid to find out. My Mom has the most beautiful silver hair. Been that way for a long time. If I thought I could look like that I'd let it go. But then there is DH who wants to be married to what he calls a "Trophy Wife". :).

BJ when you figure out the texting thing let me know.. I swear I don't want to learn, but then I think I need to keep current or get old.

This is about the only thing Thistle is good for....

Isn't it strange that most things with the most beautiful blooms are the things that are hurtful to humans? Guess their only purpose is to attract the wildlife and feed them. But the thistle bloom is a beautiful bloom. just wish it wasn't so invasive and hurtful. I'd have a yard full of that purple. lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning everyone!! Love the pics, that's the best looking Miata I have ever seen! Nice BJ! Shoot, if I'm not doing 80mph on the interstate I'm not happy!

I'll catch up later, I need more coffee and have things to do. I didn't come on yesterday, Tiga had her shots yesterday morning and one of them went into the muscle in her right hip, it has both legs cramping, or something, and she can't walk. She inches a little here, a little there and made it down our short hallway last night sometime. She's using part of the RW&B swap stuff as a pillow for her head, so my partner is going to get a little Tiga with their gifts! Last night she was lethargic, today not so much, just can't walk.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning Ladies,

BJ, I don't know what cell phone service you have, but with mine I get charged extra for texting, both to send and receive. So beware.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Cindy... I've been getting charged too for every time Kristi and Mike text me... but ATT has a $5 per month unlimited plan, so Don added it on our plan yesterday... Mike ran up a $50 text bill... so, we're saving money in the long run. Mike does pay us back for his texting charges, but he won't have to now.

Juanita... part of the reason the neighbor and I want to plant that area across the street is to attract the bees... his wife has a bee farm over there. I told him that her bees are welcome to come over anytime and pollinate everything I've got... but we also want to cover the ugly fence, and "pretty" up the place a bit. I offered to help with what "free" wildflower seeds I can collect. I am going to pass on the thistle, though... I'm sure I'll have enough of other, less invasive, less damaging, seeds by then.

80 mph, Crissy? Sheesh... you must get tickets right and left...
It felt like 80 when I was doing 50 in that little red toy car...

Well, Don and the kids just power washed the boat... and the kids are now making a picnic lunch to take out on the water... guess we're going for a boat ride...

Bj if you see any of the thistle go to seed, how about grabbing me some. I have a place for it around my pond. There's also a cultivated species of the wild variety. Is this what you have a picture of?...

Some of you know that I celebrted my 70th birthday while I was in Texas for BJ's Bash. The gals there gave me a cake with the candles that wont blow out!

Well, last night friends of mine threw me a surprise birthday party! It is not unusual for us to take each other out for dinner for our birthdays so I didn't think a thing when they suggested we wait until I returned home to go out. One picked me up while the other "had to run errands" and would meet us there. When I walked into the resturant all I saw was my grandson sitting in a booth; then I looked around to see an old friend and her husband, then half a douzen friends from work, my oldest son and wife, my middle son and Stacey (my DIL). I couldn't have been more surprised! We had a wonderful time and lovely dinner. The gals had asked each person to bring a rose of any color and they had two vases with what turned out to be a rainbow of roses. Today they are adding their fragrance to my living room.

This morning when I called to thank my friends they asked how this compared with other birthday parties and I had to tell then this was my FIRST birthday party as an adult, surprise or no. When I was married I usual made my own birthday dinner!

Aren't friends wonderful. I may not move after all.

BJ, the following story and pic is for you with that little red hot pepper. lol

A classic car is being inducted into an auto museum in Cleveland - and it outsold every other car in the U.S. in 2008.

The Cozy Coupe, a cherry-red sports car, allows toddlers to sit on a bench-style seat and poke their legs through to the ground. When they start walking, the car begins to go.

On Saturday, it will take its place next to historically significant automobiles at the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum.

The Cozy Coupe sold 457,000 units in 2008, topping the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. In the '90s, it outsold both the Accord and Ford Taurus.

It would land in the top-20 best-selling models of all time, if considered, having sold more than 10 million units in its 30-year history.

The museum will house one of the first Cozy Coupes to come off the production line in 1979.

The Cozy Coupe is made by The Little Tikes Co. in Hudson, Ohio.

and one for Don.

This guy is 50 years old and loves to fish. He was sitting in his boat the other day when he heard a voice say, "Pick me up."
>
> He looked around and couldn't see any one.
>
> He thought he was dreaming when he heard the voice say a gain, "Pick me up."
>
> He looked down in the water and there floating on the top, was a frog.
>
> The man said, "Are you talking to me?"
>
> The frog said, "Yes, I'm talking to you. Pick me up, then kiss me and I'll turn
> into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. I'll make sure that all
> your friends are envious and jealous because I will be your bride!"
>
> The man looked at the frog, reached over, picked it up carefully, and
> placed it in his front breast pocket.
>
> Then the frog said, "What, are you nuts?
> Didn't you hear what I said? I said kiss me and I will be your
> beautiful bride."
>
> He opened his pocket, looked at the frog and said, "Nah, at my age I'd rather
> have a talking frog."
>
> With age comes wisdom.

and ladies, this will be BJ's story....lol

GOT STOPPED FOR SPEEDING THE OTHER DAY.
I THOUGHT I COULD TALK MY WAY OUT OF IT
UNTIL THE COP LOOKED AT MY DOG IN THE BACK SEAT

Thumbnail by mcrochet
Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, Marilyn... that is too cute... thanks for the articles and stories... Don really enjoyed that... he just happened to be standing behind me when I was reading, and had to laugh.
Good thing I don't have a back seat... nor a dog, huh?

What every grandmother loves to hear from their teen aged granddaughter is "can I stay another couple days?"...
So, I've got to run Kristi home to get her Wii and a few personal items she didn't think she'd need over the weekend... then to the grocery store for some steaks they have on sale this week... then home for supper...
I'm already wore out.

Deborah... I'll try to get you some of those pods when they dry, if I can get them before someone mows them down.

Thanks Trisha, that is very sweet of you.

Sage and family are off to a BBQ at friends so Porter and I finally got the circle dug out for the birdbath......just need to get the base planted and Sages rock collection around the base and we will be good to go....and Larry the Lawn guy can quit scowling when he sees the Birdbath, cause now he can mow without moving it. Now we just need to get the swing area cleared out and planted and the swing seat covers (Hey BJ!!) and awning replaced and we will be in great shape!!!

Cuyahoga Falls, OH(Zone 5a)

You're all going to get a chuckle out of this - I just realized the little red hot pepper is BJ's car.... Slow...

Ladydragon - How wonderful to have such nice friends ! Happy belated BD from me, and many, many more.

TheRoseGirl - Sweet little Angel. Could a vet straighten her out so she has an easier life ?

I planted everything. Even I am amazed. I still need to pull up more grass to make the flowerbed more graceful, but everything is in the ground.

I napped, of course. Dinner, laundry...the usual. I did watch Phantom of the Opera before dinner. Can't get enough of it.

Tomorrow is grocery day.

Have a nice Sunday evening, everyone.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

OMG!!!! That is some little red hot chili pepper!! Not a bad looking lady either.

Now BJ, you and Phyllis had better remember the pennies are being saved for a trip to Ohio NOT speeding tickets. LOL

Finally got on the computer here after some really severe thunderstorms and heavy, heavy rains. Will take Mom for the CT PET scan Tuesday and depending on the outcome, will be returning home on Wednesday. I am really shocked how much "ground" Mom has lost since I saw here in April. The knee pain and the worry concerning these news spots in the lung is really working on her. All of us for that matter. I just have to turn it over to someone bigger than all of us and pray for the best.

Miss you sistahs but will catch up when I get back home. I just had to find out if BJ got the car. LOVE IT!!!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Marion, continuing prayers for your mom and for you and the rest of the family. (((hugs)))

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Managed to get a few more weeds dealt with....Basil and Borage are planted...the wild rose pruned down so that mom can "see Dorothy and Doris' Houses". Wouldn't want her to miss anything goings on now would we? Now to look through some more seeds and see what to do tomorrow....the nice weather is coming back!

This picture is the front yard Herb Garden down the street from us. I would like to several "mound beds" like this in my front yard. The bees and the Hummers just love it all!!

Hi Penny, thanks,i'm Cody, nice to meet you.No sorry their is no vet that deals with chickens, duck or geese that i know of.People would think since they are vets that they would deal with any kind of animal, but they don't.So that is when we have to take matters into our own hands, and mine is to help Angel some how if i have to do it myself.

Thumbnail by TheAngelGirl
(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Cody, we have vets that are qualified Avian vets for dealing with a variety of birds and parrots...there should be one somewhere in your area and they should be able to give you advise on a little gosling too....

Coushatta, LA

I have tried Trisha. If they don't deal with them then they don't know anything.Around here it is mostly horses, cows, dogs, cats and rabbits at a very few places that is the common ones.

Well, Cody... you're doin' a fine job as a gosling mommy too... I just know that Angel will grow up with a fine life with you around looking after her.

Trisha... I love the bird bath area... can't wait to see it with Sage's rock collection and some flowers... be sure to show us a pic when it's done.

That's some HUGE herbs... do they let the neighbors take what they need? There's no possible way that one family can even make a dent in all that.

I have a word of advise for all you Brug lovers... Brugs do NOT like cow manure TEA... they'll rebel by turning their leaves a light yellow green within 48 hours... How do I know, you ask?
On Friday morning I had a half of a 5 gallon bucket of some pretty rich manure tea dipped from the large bucket of manure that's collected rain water. I proceeded to dip about a cup of it into a 2 gallon watering can of water to give everything on the property a drink of it... including the Brugs.
Today I have poured 3 gallons in each of the pots of brugs, trying to flush the yucky stuff they didn't like through, or at least dilute it...
The brugs planted in the ground don't seem to be effected... but all the brugs that I have planted in pots are not very happy campers right now. I just hope I didn't kill them...
They yellow started from the bottom leaves, and is moving up the plant. So, I have removed the lower leaves that have turned... just hoping I wake up to darker green plants in the morning...

For now, though... I'm going to go to bed so I can cry in my pillow...

Coushatta, LA

Thanks BJ,sorry to hear about your brugs.Hope they will be ok.
