We came from here.

I have a dahlia in bloom, with two different colors on the same stalk!
LK
Shes about too... #45
Thanks Cody. I love how they are different colors on the same stem?
LK
Yea,that is pretty neat.
I talked to Bonnie and she has been working in her yard and very busy, not moving yet and says hi and hugs to everyone.. been up at the hospital with Pauline and Paula, my son and I have been staying with Paula as Pauline fades...
The plant swap was okay but not many people from daves garden showed ,, kinda dissapointing.. Tropicman and his wife did show.. talk to you later, I have lots of blooms but no time right now to enjoy r take pictures..
If you talk to Bonnie again, please tell her 10 of the Brugs she gave me as seed are now in the field and are about a foot tall. Finally got them in the ground yesterday. Blooms are beautiful. Morning Hug to all. Jb
If mine ever bloom I will send up a flair. They just drink water and drop leaves or something eats the leaves or well you know the drill. Really annoying when you have tried so hard to make them happy. I hope they are better now that they can spread out and grow big. Talk later. Birds need attention. JB
Debra, glad the swap went ok. I would of loved to come. Usually SS birthday is Memorial Weekend but since Memorial was sooo early everything got off schedule.
I need to be in the garden, had company Saturday and Sunday so had to work in the garden between things. Worked until 9pm last night. Got several brugs repotted and Versi has little blooms starting. Still have a ton of things to pot and to plant!
If you can trust the weather guys they are talking about rain on Saturday and Sunday next weekend! Ugh! This working is getting in the way of me playing in my yard....LOL
Glad you talked to Bonnie, I miss her as so many do. Wish I knew of a job.....
JB, don't forget to fertilize them at least once a week now. I use miracle grow, some use a recipe found here on daves. I think Ken posted it, and there are about 12 other variations of it.

LK
Linda, they take more attention than my animals. Once a week Miracle grow..Gottcha. JB
Am I alone out here in cyber space????????JB
I am here with you.....LOL
My my hasn't this been quiet!
You can tell it is spring.
Winds have stripped my poor brugs they look beat to death.....so sad.
How are ya JB??
I do have a question since I fought spider mites all winter, someone told me of a spray I could sit off in the garden room to kill them. But I don't remember what the name of the stuff was.
I have most of the flowers out and by Monday the building will be empty so it would be a good time to do this.
So who ever you are would you post the name again, sorry!
Afternoon. This is my Angel garden, it is filling in quite nicely! I have several that have several Y", so hopefully I will have blooms soon?
Hope you all are doing well.
Sorry to hear about the wind damaging your plants! But they will grow back, just give them time!
Hey JB. Hope it is getting nice and warm for you.
Oh, that garden will be beyond when they are blooming.
We have strong winds here and I don't have any wind breaks....so this happens every year. Funny thing is they will bloom and not have any leaves, looks a little odd. Course when we hit 100 we don't have any wind....LOL
Been busy planting and transplanting and edging and weeding and you name it I think I have done it today.
Getting tired....but feel so good. Need to go clean up my mess.
Angel garden is really looking good! I get so many ideas I just know know where to begin. I really think I need more space. In someone's yard I saw a lovely statue with a metal arbor over it, another one I could consider. Another one to consider since I always want a grotto of some kind.
Oh, your angel garden is growing so well! They look so happy and healthy. Most of mine look like lace from an attack of little green inch worms. I think I have found most if not all of them. I have found at least one on each plant..... smoosh! Little green monsters.. amazing how fast they can munch a plant.
The wind srtipped my hibiscus about 6 weeks ago.. they were nothing but sticks but are both filling out nicely now.. now the burugs are losing their leaves because I sprayed neem one night and the temps got up to 90 the next day.. high temps and neem = no leaves! Darn.. we were having cooler days!
My yahoo groups are quiet as graveyards today also!
Got a lot done today, but sure have alot more to do....said I wasn't going to buy alot of stuff because I wanted to finish some projects, so what do I do, I buy and I swap......
I will have to watch for inch worms cause I know I have had them before on other things.
Did any of you buy anything from the brug coop? I did, shouldn't have but I did. Had some beautiful doubles, their are others I would like to have but the checking account says no.....
Nope no more brugs here. Well, not right now, I need to wait to see which ones will make it here. Then if I need more, I will look!
Hope everyone had a good week-end?
Sorry to hear you have those nasty inch worms? Are you spraying them with anything?
LK
LhasaLover I'm battling those green inch worms too, they seem to appear out of no where and very hard to find. I bought some malathon to spray, but lazy me haven't done it yet. They start out like a speck of green and have done damage before you can see them. We are having some very cool weather, but never know from day to day if it will change.
THERE YOU ARE! Happ, Linda, Peg, Tammie....I am so glad to see I was not lost.
Linda, your garden is coming along great. I can not wait until another month passes and we see what you have then. I found spider mites the other day in my house on my one Maid of Orleans plant. I took her outside and washed her down real good and I too need to get a spray. Where do they come from. I am also still battling the darn mealy bug.
I check and recheck every plant that goes out of here so no one gets any from me. I could just die when I see them. I spray and wash and wash and spray and they still survive. The Antheriium is the only plant they do not attack. I wonder why?
I have had some good sales on eBay and one here on the Market Place. I need to put up more plants. I only have about five that I need to move at this time.
The weather has warmed up and now the rains came. 18 days in a row we had rain of some sort. The grass is growing like crazy and the baby Christmas Trees are doing so well we have not had to irrigate at all. Thank God for that. To orun irriggation hose the entire field is a royal pain. Time consuming too.
I must get back to work updating my journal and the Market Place. I have six plants to get ready to ship tomorrow and today is preparation day for a few of them. Those going bareroot take a little more time than others.
Take care ladies, and enjoy the sun and warm weather. Stay in touch and stay well. Hugs. JB
JB, what is your ebay name, so we can check out what our selling?
Sorry you have so many peky bugs! Wish I knew where they come from? Out of nowhere it seems sometimes!
I agree how to do pesty insects last. I don't have one plant in the solar room during the entire spring, summer, and fall. You would think those things would starve to death.....but they lay in wait......waiting....and waiting....knowing we will bring in our precious plants we have sooo taken care of all summer and then they leap and eat and eat and eat....tell I am just crazier than a bed bug......there is no stopping them. They say if the world ends as we know it the insects and plants will take over.....
Debra, nice garden. Wish mine looked like that. Do I see a little bird on the first picture? What kind is that?
Tater, check out the Market Place and see what I have to sell. Same stuff is on ebay.
Speaking of ebay, they are making some changes and things are really getting screwed up at times. I hope they soon get the bugs out so we can get back to normal.
My brugs are doing well in the field. They seem very happy and they are in full sun with lots of rain. So far nothing is eating them.
Today is plant shipping day so I must get moving. Hugs and have a good day JB
You know I love trading plants and I don't mind digging the plants, but the shipping part which isn't really that hard is kind of like filling ice cube trays, it is simple but I sure don't like doing it for some reason...LOL It is all fun and games until I have to do that....then I think I am not trading any more this is a pain, then the next thing I know I am doing it again!
Hit the Lowes discount rack on flowers Sunday. Bought those petunias in the BIG pink pots for a 1.00. Love those things and I figured out they will reseed. I already have some blooming that have come back every year for 3 years. I just have to be careful and not till up that ground. Had geraniums, and really pretty lilies, and some shrubs all 50% off the marked down price.
Debra, love the garden it is just beautiful.
I try and get all the shipping out of the way Mondays and Tuesdays. I really hate sending my babies bareroot because to get the soil off the roots and then prepare them to ship, it is just not worth the money I charge for the plants. I spend hours preparing the shipment of flowers on both days and sometimes I wonder why I do that. I certainly do not make any money, but I love sharing my plants with others, so I guess that answers it.
It is looking like storms coming here today. I had the roadside stand open for two days and did not sell one plant. I have beautiful spider plants as well as wondering jew and Christmas cactus and I priced them at $3.99. Tax included here in NJ is a must. So, I may as well just keep on giving them away. LOL.
This is really not houseplant season, but I need to clear out the greenhouse so I can propagate more Jasmine and the Scented Geraniums. I do not have a clue where I am going to put everything this winter. I hate myself when I do this.
I am having a retractable awning put on my big South Deck this week. I am so excited. It is going to be 18 "x 10'2" and there is still the end of it where I keep the GH tropicals that like sun which will not be covered. Now I can nap outside in the rain if I feel like it. LOL
I love to sleep and hear the rain and with the AC on all the time I can not hear the rain.
It also has an automatic jiggy that if the wind begins to blow too strong it will go up by itself. Love this new technology. LOL
I must go put my new phone together. Hugs. JB
Don't you just love those dollar sales? HUbby tells me no more plants, but when I come home with one more, he says oh, that is pretty!
JB, now you will be sitting in style with that new awning! Way to go!
Debra, please tell me what this plant is. It is one that you sent me as a seed, but it is a climber for sure. Just would like to know the name please?
LK
Looks like hummingbird vine to me. There is another name but I can't remember it. I could be wrong....LOL
We have a big porch JB that I want to sit and watch the rain but any more we have STRONG winds, and terrible lightening and it just ruins the whole thought of being outside. Don't do lighting.
I planted my wave petunias tonight and weeded and weeded.....we had storms last night. North of us they had grapefruit size hail can you imagine! Cars were totaled and hail busted completely thru the siding of houses and you could see the plywood under it. Roofs had big holes in it. The pictures were awful and the trees and plants, I would just cry and cry!
Oh, I saw the damge on the weather channel! Hope you escaped the damage?
LK
Luckily we just got winds, lighting, and some rain. Tornados and hail north of us. Talking about a repeat tomorrow evening.....
lindakay, that is a cardinal climber vine.. pretty red little trumpets.. I plant them around my lilac and evergreen tree for colour when they blooms from lilac are gone and the fir tree has a bare trunk about ten feet up.. it is really a big tree out front, looks cool with red little tumpets.. I have been reseeding my hot pink petunias too. i have about twenty pots now made up for the sale in july.. JB wish I had one of those awnings.. out back would be good.. was it expesive? I use plastic containers to ship out plants most of the time, if I have them I use bigwheel containers.. ( icecream sandwhiches)
tommorrow is paulines funeral, I really dont want to go after the viewing tonight it was just not right.... *sigh* the last time we really talked about three weeks ago she asked me did I have all my planting done, and I said no, and she said, oh you never will have it all done.. and she was right.. I will be planting things until I die, seeds, sticks, roots, bulbs, stubs, stumps, branches, ideas, moments of love and I wish you all the best of life and try to enjoy the daylight and the beauty of things around you while you can.. this is a favorite bird of paulines.. he and mama cardnal were feeding their baby in the redbud tree out back over the brug corner..
I am not going to complain about rain and storms again. I can not imagine having hail the size of grapefruit. Oh My God! We are so fortunate here on the East Coast weatherwise. I admire all of you who live in the tornado areas and those horrible storms some of you have had. God Bless.
I missed the passing of Pauline. Never did quite know who she was but got to love her along with all of you. I am sure she is now at peace and will no longer have anthing to worry about. She can smell the flowers and watch the birds along with my Mom, who I am sure is giving Heaven a lot of action. My Mother lived to be 96 and she was a real
special lady who had her own quiet way of running things. LOL. She lived with me her last six years of her life, when I had the bird farm and was breeding and selling parrots. . I had a sun porch where I kept a few favorites along with her rocking chairs. She would sit there from morning until night talking to and enjoying those birds, listening to music.
So often we do not realize that the simple things can be so comforting to people who are about to leave us. Flowers, Birds, Dogs, Cats all are a comfort. How did I get off on this. Good Grief. Sorry.
The awning is a SunSetter. It is costing me about $2600. I guess I am silly to spend the money, but I want it and I love being outside with my tropicals. The sun on that deck is really too hot to enjoy anymore. It has changed over the last few years, or maybe I have changed. Hmmmmm that is a possibility.
Must get busy packing more plants to ship today. Have a good day and stay safe and dry all you people who are having storms today. Ours will be over by noon so I am going to be ready to run to the grocery store when they stop. I am out of fruit and veggies for the birds. Hugs. JB
Debra, so sorry to hear of Paulines passing. She will suffer no more, as she is in a much better place! Someday we will all join her.
Sending you lots of thoughts and prayers, and a few (((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))) too!
Keep us all posted please.
LK
I'm sorry to hear of Pauline passing too, I know how sad it is to lose a loved one. She will be forever in your heart. I know when you are out planting your flowers she will be there with you.
I have to get out and plant some more seeds from you. Our mornings are gloomy and a good time for planting, but I ned some sun to get me going.
sending some sun your way Pegi, love ya all... Funeral over, back to normal.. lets get some brugs blooming now in memory!
All mine are just growing right now.. I lost My Flamenco, and my Butterfly during winter.. my seedlings of stardancerX?'s are growing nicely outin the grou nd, and my peanut X rubiline is doing awsome as well...
windy and muggy here.. storms a coming.. Back to work tommorrow.. Joyce, when do you wnt to ge4t together? lets surprize bonnie and meet there together *wishful thinking now*
So sorry to hear about Pauline also. Hugs to you.
I would love to get together. When?
I still have butterfly alive if it keeps going I will give you a start. It is small right now. Just remind me, I will not be offended because I forget very quickly! LOL
Down pours all day today and I mean gully washers.
East coast doesn't have hail and tornados? Maybe I am moving there....LOL
The pictures of that hail was awsome only because it was north of me. Can't imagine the damage. I look around my garden and think of all the things that would be destroyed. Those were some tall clouds that caused that hail.
