of course I found out after I took that picture that they had eaten all 18 of these Maigolds. No wonder they needed a nap!
Sophie's Saga ........ look how much she's grown!!
Looks like animals rule there, Celeste! Brian is a big pushover.
Yeah, thats Jake, he's a big baby and always pushing his limit.
LOL at Jake sneakin in. Definitely a puppy after my heart ^_^ The first baby buns are getting HUGE. Annuals is the answer. If they get stuffed on annuals they will be too burpy to go after the perennials. That's my theory.
In my next life I will be a bunny and live under a porch in So. China, Me.
No kiddin. Unfortunately I think the mischevous troublesome summer fairys might follow me or I'd be in.
All your critters are adorable.
So cute---Jake, too! I remember planting verbena one year---we had a lab-Giant Schnauzer mix---couldn't think of why she had minty breath---she ate every verbena. Also the fenders on the neighbor's motorcycle (good thing he loved her), brought home a rug, a turtleneck sweater, & much more!
Such adorable photos, Celeste......not to mention the captions! You have the makings of a wonderful children's book!
I really love seeing those shots of Jake. We all laugh still when we think of Cody, our golden, who would wait until we were at the dinner table, and then he would walk quietly past the dining room area - always looking straight ahead and then he would covertly (not realizing we could see every move!) step up onto our love seat and curl right up on it (where he was, of course, not allowed to be! The cutest part of all was that we would all come into the family room and only the tip of his tail would be beating the love seat, so proud that he had "put one over on us". It was so endearing!! Jake reminds me so much of our sweet Cody.
Thanks Louise!
If you noticed, Jake has a nasty scar on his upper arm. The angle he was at when I took the pic hides the majority of it. He was hit by a car when he was 6 months old, since then he use the scar to his advantage. He knows im a sucker and Brians a big pushover as Victor mentioned. lol
This dark gray bunny is now an expecting Mommy. I noticed she was nesting under Auntie's porch so I was pretty sure. However, that last few days I only see her once...maybe twice a day to eat. I'll go out there and she'll be over to Auntie's...I peel the bananna and break it into bite size pieces and she appears in a matter of maybe 60 seconds.
Just like her Mother did when she was pregnant for her!!!!
Awwwwwwwwwww! So sweet!
Spent some time with son & HayHay today---son wants our small barn, & I've told HayHay she could keep a bunny in it---being used to wild bunnies, she said, "But, Nana, how am I ever going to catch one?" Now we know a banana trick! Of course, I meant a domestic bunny, but son & DIL will kill me!
Peanut was out in the rain under the chair yesterday trying to get some sleep. She was dirty (unusual for her) but it's been raining steady every day now so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. What did surprise me is how tired she was. Something had kept her up most of the night and it's not good for a bunny to be that tired. They aren't alert enough to watch for predators and i'm afraid something will happen to her. I haven't seen her since yesterday afternoon but im not going to panic yet. It does bother me that she missed last nights feeding and this mornings....i'll keep ya all posted.
Oh, good luck, Celeste.......I hope you see her soon. Prayers for her safety!
Oh, Pixie---I'm thinking bad things! White bunnies are such a target.
Could it be she's just in a nice warm den having babies?
Thats what we're hoping!
Barb ~ Just saw your post. It's not that we have no help from the residents ... it's all the hoops and red tape we are still jumping through. Did you drive by my house? It's the one near the lake with the big white cast iron bathtub out front.
Peanut! Come out of hiding, you silly bunny! You're getting your 'momma' all nervous!
I hope Peanut is just busy making googly eyes with a studly bun.
I love reading of your bunnies. Their pictures are adorable. We have an 11 year old bunny, Benjamin who lives in the house.
My daughter had a bunny nest in her front garden. She dug a hole, had the babies...and covered them with hay. Goes back nightly, lays across the hole and feeds them...and covers back up. She watches from her front window.
I pray your white bunny is safe...and just being a mom.
Debbie
Thank you Debbie, sounds like your daughter had a front row seat to an amazing sight!
I hope Sophie lives as long as Benjamin, she lives inside but the rest do not. Sophie is a big bunny...7lbs already and not a year old yet!!
Hope you can get some sleep tonight, Celeste!!!
Well Peanut has missed 6 meals now, the equivalent of 3 days as we feed them 2x a day. I dare say he/she is gone. We now have the expecting little gray bunny M.I.A. I'm pretty sure I saw her under the next door neighbors shed....the neighbor who uses live traps to captured said rabbits. I doubt that he captured this one though...she's very timid and I can't see her going in any type of cage. I think she went under the shed looking for a safe place to make a nest. Yesterday I saw the neighbor kids running back amd forth around it like they knew she was under there. I'm very worried for her and the little ones she's carrying.
Now this morning I couldn't find Patches, he hasn't come round for breakfast yet. I hope he's just sleeping in.^_^ The little male who is always bothering the ladies(I call him 'Thumper' but we really should drop the 'T') was there for breakfast....that one never misses a meal!! lol
LOL after all - he needs his strength.
sigh - on the others and best wishes to the one under the shed.
Oh dear, Celeste. I hope all the little fuzzy bunnies are OK and just out on an early summer vacation
Don't know how wild bunnies work out territories, but maybe it was time for them to leave the nest?
That's what I was going to say. Maybe when they want to raise their own families they must move away. Guess they're not like lions or wolves.
If I remember correctly, they have to move away from the males because they will kill the babies. I might be wrong...but don't think so.
Found these on a website....I think you have some answers where they all are!
You MUST separate them. She must have her own cage. That is the only way you will know when she is going to have babies and the only way to keep her and her kits safe. Rabbits can never live together, even when they are the same sex. They can fight and hurt each other. Rabbits are very territorial. If you spay or neuter them, then you can have rabbits living together.

You will eventually have to seperate them as the male will eat the babies, you will be able to tell if the female is pregant if she starts ripping fur of herself, and making a nest with it, she will start to eat more than usual, her belly will also start to get bigger gradually. The babies shouldn't be handled for a while after they are born, they are so cute esspecially when their fur grows. 3

Just nature taking course! ^_^
O that's so sad that all the buns have to leave home.
Not as sad as being driven or taken from their home! And Celeste and Brian have given them the best possible start in life! Bet they will wander back now and then looking for their bananas!
Ah yes, Patches (Allspice) one is the same....Dh calls him/her 'Patches' so much that I do now. Anyways...he came home tongiht for a meal. DH is sitting outside talking with Thumper and Patches as I write this. I hear him scolding Patches for giving him a scare. (im giggling and it's getting hard to type) But I can't describe how DH's face lit up when I told him Patches was outside wanting some food. I think it was better than when he won $1000 on the scratch ticket a few years ago. ^_^
