they're not really fully open yet, so they're still transitioning with the green color that they first come out with. They should be dark pink in another week or so maybe.

nice stuff... can't believe I got up at 5:00 after all that work outside yesterday... feel like I should be sleeping

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

lol... I think that you should be sleeping too!!! that's way too early. Maybe go back to bed and call it a nap!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

can't now... will have to wait until later on... can't stand that I can't sleep late somedays

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

I definitely don't have that problem, I go the other way and tend to over sleep. If only our issues could meet somewhere in the middle! :-p

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Good Morning you 2
RC its not the name of the Iris.
DD brought it from her garden when we moved.
She cant remember the names of any plants because she buys what she likes, and some are given to her from friends.
She worked on a roar where there was a man who grew Iris in a big field, she used to stop on her way home and buy a plant or 2 for the 2 years she worked at that site.
He would dig the bloming plant so customers would be sure they got the color they wanted.
Sorry its a NOID

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

What variety Martagon is theat?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yes RC that would be good!!

just went and put a few more plants in... I keep yelling at myself ... ankles are already killing me

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I think the Martagon is 'Mahogany Bells' .... whatcha think??

And, yes, Jo Ann, I meant not coming true from seed, I think (re: columbine color). I just like the word mutant, I guess!

Such incredible pics! I esp. like the one watching for the storm, Shelly!! Though, that "Black" Iris is awesome!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice everyone. I am hoping my Martagon blooms this year. I planted it last year.

My first zinnia is blooming - this was wintersown. Red Spider.

Anita I have 2 Marts,1 from Brent and Beckys "BackHouse" and 1 from American Meadows a wild type.
I had heard they take several years to establish before they bloom but there are buds on both.
Here's hoping.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Robin, I checked and you win the prize. It's Brilliant Pink Iceberg.

Wha, the tyme is Reiter. I got it at HIgh Country Gardens which has a very nice selection of Thyme.

Patti, thanks for the info on the broom. I think I'll give it one more year before pruning. I like the cascading effect and it's not out of control yet.

Willie, at first quick glance I thought you had a daylily pic. I was amazed that you had one so early. If your squash fruits as nicely as it blooms, you're going to have amazing squash.

RC, Very pretty callicarpa. Maybe it shares Onewish's problem. Too Early!!

Jo Ann, your black iris would be an attention getting combo with Anita's yellow.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Alas the Iris is DD's she'd kill me if I tried anything like dividing.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

GE, The Martagon is "Claude Shride", planted new last fall.

I love being wrong in the guessing game!! Now, I have TWO new plants on the want list!!

^_^

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am pleased they grew at all and to have blooms this year is a bonus.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

ge - I'll keep you apprised of mine. Good Luck with yours.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

My sentiments exactly. I think I lost the others to the voles.

Thats a lovely color rose stormy!

Rhinebeck, NY(Zone 5b)

Climbing Night Owl. I bought this plant w/ my DMIL just last May and this morning it popped. This pix is actually a pretty good representation of its dark mystery. I think it's doing pretty well considering it's only the first spring in the garden.

stolwik gold is gonna do it any day ^_^ Fancyvan was over yesterday and we decided that mine is more limey than yellowy because it is quite shaded by a big honking fern right now. Should be more yellowy when the fern dies back in July.
