you guys got me so excited that I planted Baptisia this year!!!

South Hamilton, MA

'White weed' is canadian mayflower--wild flower, not a weed at all. Sometimes known as wild lily of the valley.

Thanks folks!

Lovely pics everyone!

Karen, you're definitely on a roll!

Jen... the pics of Wall-e and the little girl are adorable!!

Hi Shelly
Nice pix of Baptisia Twilight Prairy Blus.
Its new in my garden as of April, I'm glad to see the real color, just as I had hoped for.
I also have hosta Tokudama, Very slow to establish and then Ive moved it 3 times, so who knows.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Bill, Allison, Jo Anne and Shelly.

Iris, I think it could be argued that all weeds are wildflowers when you really think about it. One person's weed is another persons wildflower. I happen to like and encourage some weeds that pop up here and there. If they pop up in a good spot I let them grow, if not, then they're gone. I especially like common mullien. There is also another weed that's a member of the mink family. Don't know what it is, but I had a massive specimen last year that I allowed to stay, and I just loved it. It's back again this year. It gets tiny lavender flowers and pinchy things around the flowers.

Allison, if your baptisia isn't blooming this year, just have patience. I usually buy them in bloom, cause if you don't know how old it is, it could take some time to get to blooming age.

That centauria I have had for years, in fact my mother planted it who knows when. It gets very little attention and always does well.

I have that wild lily of the valley popping up all over my garden....it is quite pretty, but I can't believe how much it spreads. I kind of wish it would stop spreading now!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

you need a border patrol - or is that control

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

The funny part is that I've gone to great lengths to control my non wild lily of the valley...now this! It's not toxic, I hope? I just worry that if it's toxic like the other LOTV, one of my dogs will eat it, since they eat everything else in the yard. I guess that Canadian mayflower grows by seed instead of runners like LOTV.

ge, that tokudama has been veeeeeery slow for me, which is why I am so excited about it this year. I moved mine a few times, and I think that's why. I plan on never moving it again!

Ohhh... Pretty Allison. I think that you may have solved another one of my NOID iris ID's. I think that maybe 80% of my iris are Noid's because I bought them at farmers market's under names like "white with yellow falls." Anyhow I think that I have a match to your "can can red" I'll have to post a pic of it in a little bit. I'ts one of my favorites too!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

very cool!... I put good tags on the new ones... and adding photos in my journal as they bloom... for when the tag bites it with the snow on the slopes

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

That's a great idea! I'm not quite there in the organization of my irises yet. I'm happy to find the names and get a tag on them. I'm glad you're still online too because I'm just now getting pics onto my computer from the other day. i have a pic or two of my possible can can iris in there... you can see if it looks like yours!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

this is the one of mine that looks very similar to yours.
