Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #104 visit with friends!

(Cathy), MO

I'm renting right now but will be building. I lost alot of plants, all but 2 of my brugs, but those can all be replaced eventually.

Laura, glad to see you still posting.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll save you some seeds...How are the grandchildren, do you now live closer to them..so many questions...but then that happens when you find a long lost friend...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think it's time to put an S.O.S. for Carol as well...she may be lost in her lovely garden of Eden...or perhaps in her 'hidden garden'....

(Cathy), MO

The grandchildren and children are all fine. They are about 30 minutes closer now. Every little bit helps! I'll try to check in more often. Or at least do a better job of following the thread.

My work schedule changed too so I am getting ready to head home. Take care of yourself Betty! and everyone else too

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cathy, reading about your situation, remined me of one of our favorite songs. It is by Brad paisley, from the movie, Cars!
Here is alink to it on you tube, so you can listen! it is a nice song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do3EYyVMNf8&feature=related

When you find yourself
In some far off place
And it causes you to rethink some things
You start to sense that slowly
You're becoming someone else
And then you find yourself

When you make new friends in a brand new town
And you start to think about settlin' down
The things that would have been lost on you
Are now clear as a bell
And you find yourself
Yeah that's when you find yourself

Where you go through life
So sure of where you’re headin'
And you wind up lost and it's
The best thing that could have happened
‘Cause sometimes when you lose your way it's really just as well
Because you find yourself
Yeah that’s when you find yourself

When you meet the one
That you've been waitin' for
And she's everything that you want and more
You look at her and you finally start to live for some one else
And then you find yourself
That’s when you find yourself

When we go through life
So sure of where we're headin'
And we wind up lost and it's
The best thing that could have happened
‘Cause sometimes when you lose your way it's really just as well
Because you find yourself
Yeah that's when you find yourself

Good song LK! There's alot of truth to that! :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Cathy, it makes one think about life!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda Kay that is a beautiful song..and does it not describe oneself...
Cat, how wonderful that you are closer to the children..you'll have to post a photo..and now that you've got yourself organized and enjoying life, want to continue hearing from you..missed you..

Carol, much the same weather here...another 10 minutes and I'm homeward bound..however, have the girls coming to paint tonight..might get to cut grass for an hour or so...love the crabapple tree...

AnnMarie, how are you doing 'sweetie' are you getting to sleep more hours? OMG how wonderful for your son..perhaps with you not feeling up to par it's better for him to be on his own, if for no other reason than starting to be independent...can imagine how you felt, Mother's Day and in the hospital..I'm sure DH is thrilled to have you home...guess your next step is now NOT to overdo..sit near that lovely patio you did, watch the flowers grow then get to smell them...think last time you weren't well you just overdid...we'll be watching you...

Carol isn't it tragic they finally made an arrest in the kidnapping of Guelph girl Victoria Stafford , think she was 8 or 9..the news if correct say that they are known to the parents...it's been 1 month since her disappearance.. the 28 year old took her life same day as she was taken for sexual purposes...the 19 year old girl who abducted her from school has also been charged...prayers for this family...cannot even imagine how you would deal with such pain..you have to wonder what kind of people do such things....

On a brighter note..hope you are all enjoying the weather..feet up, drink in hand..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Betty, did you have your lab work done this morning?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty just a quick note to let you know Norm's surgery has been put off to next Wed. He is on an antibiotic for the cold and lung surgery would not be the thing right now. I'm so thankful for everyone's concern and prayers.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Mary, I will be going up through Georgia rather than I-10 this time. A group of us from the Sweet Interruptions thread are getting together over Memorial Day weekend at BJ's. Tink (Fairy 1004) and her MIL (Janice) will be coming also. This should be a blast. Enjoy your visit with your father and do, LOL, enjoy Disney. As if that wouldn't happen!!! :-)

Barb, been thinking about you a lots. Good the surgery is postponed due to the meds but I know the anxiety is rough!! Sending hugs to both of you.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

I was in the marines in 1966-1968..Met a man Kenneth Sitton From Dalton GA..Two folks on straw bale gardening are from GA..I asked them if they were close to Dalton..Told them I was looking for Kenneth..

Then I looked on internet. Typed in name & city..No luck
So I typed in name & state
1st # I tried Jackpot..What luck
He lives in Ringgold, GA
I found him...Talked to his wife."the operator"..LOL
Same girl he was dating when we were in corps..
Ken has cancer in tonsils..Can't talk or eat...It will be close to 2 months before he is done with treatments

Never thought about trying internet.to look anyone up..
Only wish I had tried sooner..As they say better late then never

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I so agree better late than never.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Tubby, sorry to hear about your friend..when you think of it computer age brings the entire world into the size of a small town doesn't it..nice that his wife will be able to tell him of your call...
Marion, how long is your drive to BJ's...was so tempted in going but I had almost a day to travel to meet Janice and Stacey then 2 days drive..2 days in Texas and then the 3 days drive again..just couldn't do it...I'm sure all will have photo's and tales for us to read...

Barb, better than operating if conditions and health aren't right..saying a prayer that things improve..how are you doing, feeling any better?

LindaKay, yes I had my blood work done early this a.m. now I have to do that silly stool things 3 times and bring it into the lab...I'm not enthused about that..waiting for the cat scan appt. date, got the mamogram appt...Dec 14 - 1:30pm imagine...I said when she called, 'glad I'm not dying', she said ' if you had a lump you'd be in today' so that makes me feel better...

Fingers still tingling though...was going to my class tomorrow night in Barrie but think I'll give it a week as my eyesight still isn't 100%..so not the best to be doing portraits...

Just walked the girls to their car..so warm out, can feel the rain moving in though...

Must check my lottery ticket early a.m. to see if I've won the over 40 million being drawn tonight..tell you what, if I do we're all going cruising....lol...

night night everyone..

Trisha, just walked downstairs after the girls left painting class and muscles in my knee area cramping..now how come after 2 days of biking now they cramp..lol..won't give up though..

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

DH still had a couple cigarettes when he came home so I had a couple more than I thought I would. No cigarettes in the house now though.

Tubby, I liked the philosophy story, it is very true.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Part of it Betty is just getting used to riding again.....but do make sure the seat and bars are properly adjusted.....I find that having the seat even 1/4-1/2 inch too low can cause me knee and hip pains for days. Sometimes it can take several adjustments to get it worked out.....the boys can probably help you with it....otherwise any good bike shop should make the adjustments for you at no charge. Also, be sue you are riding in the correct gears so you don't put undue stress on your knees.

Take care and have a good nights rest.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

I had this all typed in & it dissipated into cyberspace

The wind has been blowing like H E double L For the last three days..My eyes, ears, nose, even my hair felt like a sand box..No wonder the cats were following me around...LOL

Smile

This one is priceless....A lesson to be learned from typing the wrong email address!!!!

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier.

Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife.
However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston , a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack.

The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted.

The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife
Subject: I've Arrived
Date: October 16, 2005

I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones. I've just arrived and have been checked in.

I've seen that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then!!!! Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.

P. S. Sure is freaking hot down here!!!!

I don't know but I imagine this is Betty stretching & loosening up before bike ride.LOL

Hey Marion - Did I tell you - I think my Uncle Joe lives in Havana....has lots of land & horses....It's a small town - I don't suppose you know him?

Betty - keep us in touch on the results of the tests. oh - and of the lottery. :) I packed my bags tonight. Maybe I'm a bit over-excited about this crazy trip? Anyway - I can switch gears and go on a cruise with all of you quite quickly if necessary.... :)

Trisha - Betty's numbness couldn't be the result of recent biking, could it? Just a thought.....

Laura - I think taking it outside is a HUGE step! Good Job!

((((HUGS)))) to Barb & TUbby!

Back in a bit....

Awesome Toilet
Now that you've seen the outside view, take a look at the inside
view...

It's made entirely of one-way glass!
No one can see you from the outside, but when
you are inside it's like sitting in a clear
glass box!

Now would you... COULD YOU....???

Tubby that is pretty weird....let me think about that one.....Loved the e-mail!!!

Mary I suffer nerve compression in my hands every time I ride, if I sit up and shake my hand a few times or get off the bike it goes away. Have never had it last after getting off the bike. But I suppose it could be possible.

THIS IS A CEILING MURAL IN A SMOKER'S LOUNGE.

OMG Tubby those photo's are fantastic..as for using the washroom, nope, don't think I could..lol..brings back a memory, when my kidney's failed I had to take a test, drink mega hi-tech fluids, go into a room and in standing position with the specialist sitting abdomen high, with xray type monitor was told to pee while he watched..legs open and a trough underneath my feet...now tell me how many people can manage to do this..his watching his watch and telling me my time was nearly up didn't help..tried twice after that and no go...
same would go for the washroom I'm sure..but my goodness, doesn't it blend in with the environment..

the painted floor, now don't go give me ideas 'tubby' of a weekend to do painting project..

The smoking room would do it for me..love it...will copy and send to a few friends...Liz/Judy you watching..know our Laura is struggling as well, how's it going Laura???

Trisha, as a child we didn't have gears..lol.. so I don't understand them, actually don't think they work on the bike I bought but today I'm limping around boy does my left leg hurt..guess it's delayed reaction but I most definately if I see I continue I'll go purchase a new bike...

Hot day today (of course it's going to cool down for the weekend) so I must run, make sandwiches as Suzanne and I will eat at the lake front at lunch..

Talk in a bit...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty! Sorry to hear your leg is cramping! Maybe doing some stretching before your next ride will help?
Tubby, love those paintings! I think I would have to think twice before going into that bathroom! How you doing with your treatments?
LK

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I had that test! OMG! Thought I would die of embarrasement...and I couldn't go either. Finally the tech (a woman) went and got a book, and sat and read telling me to let her know when I felt like I could go! The things we women go through to make life a tad easier. LOL

Leg cramps? Hmmm, better eat a banana or something else high in potassium and drink water. Both signs of dehydration and low potassium. Do you drink gatoraide? Might help you, your dizziness and such could also be a sign of dehydration. I was amazed the problems it can cause.

I was able to go out and work in the yard for about six hours yesterday. Three in morning, and a couple more off and on in the afternoon...following the shade. It felt so good. And my garden is started! Now if I could keep Izzy out of it...she thinks it is there for her to lay on the cool soil.

Debbie

Lol, Tubby they remind me of the ones in Spain.

Betty do ya fell like this

You pulled a muscle when you tried to exercise

Your new hat looked better on you at the store

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trisha, think I just might go to the bike shop when buying the gel seat and ask them to explain the gears to me (not give me the gears) lol...
started walking and it's slowly leaving..think last night I may have pulled a muscle when I went to take the lighthouse from the pond..that's what you get for sitting..never sit, but last night before the girls arrived and after I cut backyard grass I decided to sit and look at the garden..started to look junky to me, of course, when gardens are in full bloom all the garden art looks pretty but not now, so out came the lighthouse..now at front drive saying ...free/please take me...let's hope by tonight it will not be there..so that probably did it..

Cancelled my portrait class tonight ONLY because I don't feel my eyesight is up to par and I'd only have to start again...shhhhh not the only reason, it's 80 today, garden center is on my way home and I was thinking that perhaps a few shrubs where the lighthouse was would look pretty..could also get a haircut and enjoy an hour or so outside..

Debbie, glad you are enjoying the outdoors, your weather is much like here..are you working on new gardens??? know about cool soil, Sailor does much as Izzy does...just below my back deck I keep trying to plant with shrubs and high growth but Sailor I guess because the overhang is out 2' -shaded-cool...well that's her place to lie..she wins, I'm not about to make her sit in the sun...

As for that particular test I know it was for me own good but how degrading..do you have kidney problems as well? How did the flooring go, all done, bet it's pretty..they'll so enjoy their home knowing what sweat went into it..my house isn't spectacular, but omg, as I walk the room I remember what it looked like and how it is now and what I can see for the future..better the a boxed house right?

Marion, when will you be leaving for Texas....

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

You keep losing things
This is me for sure..Or is Shirley just moveing things to drive me crazy...LOL

Betty, I don't have kidney problems, I had bladder problems. I had surgery to have the bladder lifted and put in a "sling" along with a partial hyster. They had to do all kinds of bladder testing that was far beyond the call for ones modesty issues.

The floor looks great. They still need to do trim work, which will probably be finished this weekend. I will post a picture for you to see as of this past Sunday.

Here it is.

The first Prom is over and done with...too much drama for my liking, and not on DD's fault. Her BF and his mother were way too much.

Here is one of the "five" pictures I was allowed to get. I will go all out on her Prom which is June 6th.

But this is by far, my favorite.....this kid is what kept his sister going, and not bursting into tears. She has no idea how lucky she is to have a brother like this. Of course I am not predjudice.

Tubby, thank you. That is at our DD's house. They had so much trouble before we got that down. Pulled up the carpet and only partical board underneath. They had to lay down fresh subfloor to nail into, then the flooring...whichi s Brazillian cherry I believe. She was able to get it at a lumber liqudators at a very good price with a 30 year warranty I believe.

Betty, yes on the garden. Remember I told you I wanted to make a memory garden. Well DH turned over some dirt for me, about a 2 X 4 area....and I said Ohhhh no...bigger. SO I went out myself...and now have about a 3 X 12 area.

And, I have a new guest on the front porch. The robin eggs are starting to hatch....meet Peeper. I have a feeling they are all going to have that name. LOL
