Glenview, IL

oh,oh...Nothin Betty! Look, really....

...but, in honosty, I have been bad...hands on the hips here too. been working at it again.

Steve has been so insanely busy he is exhausted...He was going to come out and join the fire party, right after he watched his show, all of 2 minutes of it...we sent him off to bed.

OK, got to go to get my teeth cleaned...will be back later.

Is a nice post isn't it LindaKay...
Can you imagine, it was torrential rains up to about 10 minutes ago..wind is still blowing hard but blue sky and fluffy white clouds..pretty picture...

Judy girl, off those things, Mother Betty talking here...you did so good, you either have to stop OR make sure your photo's don't tell on you...lol
He works long hours Judy...looks tired...hope you did leave him rest...

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Betty, I looked back at that photo, and I think you see Steve with a cig, not Judy. It doesn't look like Judy's legs in those brown shorts to me. Hee hee....

Could be wrong, though, just guessin'......

Glenview, IL

Hi Linda Kay!

Ohhh Thank You Shar!! Your are right, those are not my legs, roflolol mine are browner and dirty.
That is actually my "red headed step son" Julia's boyfriend Anthony, who is a very fair red head!
besided I was the one taking pictures, lol gotta giggle too...

Thumbnail by Seedtosser1
Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Anthony looks like a sweetheart, so good that you like him, too.

Sometimes I can't tell Julia from Breenie they seem often to look so much alike.

Glenview, IL

OK, so before I head out,
Mary, or Debbie, but I think Mary,
(get you two confused!)

Your Son's trip sounded wonderful as well as all his photo. Thank you for sharing the trip with us. You'll have to remind him to give the camera to someone 'cause mom wants to see him there too. LOL, he probably won't but worth a try.

and Debbie, Happy Birthday to your honey...Yesterday was Steve's birthday so we had a grand dinner. But I know sometimes having to share Mothers Day is alot of funn too, we usually get something together then...But yesterday I was going to take him out on a date, but since it was stroming around all day, we decided I would make hime a grand dinner. Cooked up a storm, meat loaf, mashed potatoes and mixed veggies., rolls with oliveoil and parmesan and a side salad, lol a small feast for the birthday hubby, He made it up until 10:15 for desert, Breenie made a brownie cake and vanilla ice cream, and Julia and Anthony got home to help celebrate...LOL it did me in, right after.

Lots of work to tiling, got to stand and let blood flow, But looks like he is getting right into it...will be awsom when he is done.

Anyway the afternoon is bright and breezy and that spot is getting dryer...
so gonna get into my gloves and get to work.

oh hahah, just for you Betty,
Assuming the position,

blinking and pouting here that I had to come clean...dreading day Steve catches me too...Yikes, trying not to let that happen.

Hands on the hip here Betty!!

Thumbnail by Seedtosser1

Thanks Shar,
Anthony is a real sweetie...OMG he is quiet that he startles me sometimes! LOL, finally one day I said when you come into the room, you better make some noise, your gonna give me a heart attack...So now, He's stand there waving one hand saying helllo...we tease him about having the pope wave.

Yes the girl do look very much alike, my gosh, I get them confused at time too...reminds me of me and my sister Sylvia.
oh speaking of which, in a couple of the picture of me, amazes me how much i look like my mom these days!

ok really got to scoot now.

Baton Rouge, LA

Just popping in for a bit....

Trisha - Sage is precious! That's good to know that bio-mom is behaving herself. I hope it lasts....So often it's a rollercoaster with our situation ....which at times seems very similar...

Hey Debbie - I lived in Orlando from 2-5, then California, then back to Ft. Walton Beach at 11....so I call myself a "Florida Girl"....although I've been in Louisiana 20+ years now.....
Definitely recommend a chiropractor!

Judy - I can see how folks would get Debbie & I confused! We post a lot of similar stuff about the teens, school activities & stuff! But Deb's son went to Washington DC. I told her to check with the girls in the class - I'll bet they have pics! LOL

Betty - hope you are having a good day! It does seem that way doesn't it? I haven't exactly helped out my dad but dad was supposed to give myself & sis a final payment of $ that came to him accidentally when Mom passed.

I didn't say a thing to him when he didn't pay it but I sense that he & sis have argued over it....they dont' visit and dad missed niece's graduation last year.....and sis is MUCH better off than I'll ever be.....I can't imagine why she would demand it from him....

I just figured he needed the money more than I....he's 71. well that's much more than I wanted to write on that.....it's just......I understand!

Hugs to all,

Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, you little imp, Shar's sticking up for you, mother hen, trying to get you out of trouble with me..lol..you confessed for nothing.....you will get the beejeepers from Steve when he finds out and he will, best you quit so you don't have to fib to him when he asks if you are smoking..go challenge Liz, she's puffing as well...

Mary some people can let things slide while others can't..are the girls anxious to visit with bio mom?

Glenview, IL

oh, hahaha Betty, I think i am more afraid now that Liz, see's my post telling on myself...
LOL, maybe i should edit it out, roflol...

aww Mary, i will get you two straight, all in Judytime, which could be awhile...uhm, you have daughters having a prom soon right?
(crossing fingers) OK wow, I loved when my girl had a prom, she was gorgeous and well I, the mom had the best time preparing...So i hope you have just as much fun..looking forward to see pictures.

Baton Rouge, LA

Betty - If you mean anxious in the form of anxiety....then yes..... :(.....DD1 even gets nauseous.......visits are supposed to be supervised but they are not.....we'll see a crescendo of nerves up until they leave a week from Saturday.....arguements, disrespect to Dad, etc.....then when they get back....they sleep a LOT and it takes a long time to get them "back to baseline" (as the therapist called it).....

Thank you for asking though....as a consolation....I'm usually way more stressed about it than I am this year....maybe because they are older, or maybe I'm just able to deal better.....

It's nice to 'talk' about it on here because there is literally no one I can 'talk' about this to.....DH has high blood pressure and I've learned not to discuss with him......

Sorry Judy! we "did" prom April 4th....can you believe there is such a difference in Prom time? Don't you worry about it though....I have mistaken folks on here on a regular basis....it doesn't bother me a bit ....I can certainly see why anyone would confuse me with Deb...we have a lot of the same stuff going on.....

Maybe (on the above) I'm not as stressed because this quick trip wtih DS is shaping up....leave Saturday 5/23, visit with Dad for 2 days near Marianna, FL. Then 5/25 Drive to Orlando....5/26 Universal/IoA and see the Blue Man Group!

5/27 Drive back, 5/28 back at work. I'm SO excited!

Hugs toAll,

Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

So different travelling with the kids Mary, you see things through a different perspective..they are on a high, or is it we passing that hi down to them..regardless, you'll have a wonderful time...

I'm glad you are not feeling more stressed this year, maybe because they realize who they are getting mothering from and understand what their life would be like if living with mom...they sometimes think it would be better but after spending a few weeks am sure they are aware how kind and generous you are...I'm a true believer that children like rules/schedules even though they don't show it at time...

Remember shortly after I was married my mom and dad separated, both moving on to other love of their lives...my mom is still with Jim after 40 years...and dad would still be with Flo had he not passed on..my youngest brother Mike was in his teens, boy did he know how to work this separation..one would buy something for him and he'd rub it in (you know kids) until the other parent did something just a little better for him..talk about being spoilt...

Dh must be torn between not wanting to let them go or having them go and learning just howlucky they are...

Bet you Judy that Liz will read this post tonight or early morning to let you know her thoughts on you smoking..can't really preach because she's fallen off the wagon as well..lol...if you have your cel now (did you find it?) then best you check the number calling and not answer if it's she.....trouble coming your way!!

Tubby, starting to fret, no joke from you today...is this your hospital day as well..

Keep checking the thread to see how Shannon and Norm made out today....patiently waiting..

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

HOLY Phlox Debbie!!!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Betty - That is the situation indeed! DH hates to see them go. The few things we do find out about their visits aren't good at all.......

I can't wait to hit the road with DS. It will be the first time we've really ever done anything like this. I do love WDW more than Universal....but we only have One Day and Blue Man Group is at US.

Betty - Have you heard of Blue Man Group? If not - check them out if you get a chance online....it's supposed to be an incredible show.....your GS's have probably heard of them.....

With DS being Drum Captain next year - I think it will be especially special for him.....

Keep us posted on Bernie.....so sad.....

Just stopped for a bite..Cold chicken & radish's...

They're written by Andy Rooney , a man who has the gift of saying so much with so few words.Enjoy.......

I've learned.... That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

I've learned.... That when you're in love, it shows.

I've learned.... That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my day!' makes my day.

I've learned.... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.

I've learned.... That you should never say no to a gift from a child.

I've learned.... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.

I've learned.... That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

I've learned.... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

I've learned.... That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.

I've learned.... That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I've learned.... That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.

I've learned.... That money doesn't buy class.

I've learned.... That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

I've learned.... That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

I've learned.... That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.

I 've learned.... That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

I've learned.... That love, not time, heals all wounds.

I've learned.... That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.

I've learned.... That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

I've learned.... That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

I've learned... That life is tough, but I'm tougher.

I've learned.... That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.

I've learned.... That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I've learned.... That I wish I could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed away.

I've learned.... That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

I've learned..... That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

I've learned..... That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.
I've learned.... That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.

I've learned.... That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

It is for an insurance company in the training department.....

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

First I must Thank Everyone for all the prayers and good wishes. They mean so much to us. We met with Norm’s surgeon today. He has a mass in the upper lobe of his left lung. She said it is about the size of a marble and is in very deep. He is going to be operated on Friday, May 22. She is going to take a wedge with the mass and it will go to pathology. If it is benign she will close. If it is malignant, she will take the whole upper lobe of the lung.
Norm is in good spirits. He still says “It is what it is” and still remains very positive. I, on the other hand, am a wreck. I can’t seem to focus on anything. I know this will pass but please forgive me if I ramble or don’t sound cohesive. I must go sew something. It helps.. Love and hugs to you all,
Barb

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Thoughts, Prayers and Hugs to you both Barb........at least from what I see here it sounds like the prognosis is good either way....difficult to deal with, but something that can be successfully treated! And you ramble on all you need to, that is what we are here for. Let us know what you are sewing....we all like to see new projects.

Love,
Trish

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, I'm with Trisha...we're all here for you..ramble on, you know me, always looking for someone to gab with while at work and at home...does sound as though the Dr. is aggressive..already scheduling operation for May 22nd. - short wait..we'll continue to pray for both of you...won't opne my pressie yet, going to wait until you settle down and will open the box I received from you..apron swap..excited but patient...

Stacey do hope you get the job..is it close to home or will you be required to travel again...

Rather cool tonight, you'd almost think it's the onset of fall rather than spring..imagine, said on Saturday we could get flurries mixed with the ran..yuk..

With not going to portrait class tonight I got home by 5:30..couldn't understand why the storage shed doors were open, then I realized Cathy was here and cut all my grass, front/back and sides..one less 'to do' for me this weekend...I went next door, got us a pizza, chatted for awhile and now I'm ready for bed..

Just as she was leaving she asked if I could show her how to grout the glass balls that she glued glass globs to so I told her to come tomorrow night after work..shouldn't take more than 1 hr..least I could do...

Going to check Debbie's prayer thread to see if she has posted yet how Shannon is doing...

Enjoy your evening everyone...

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

I forgot to click send............ DUH

Great cooking advice from Martha & Maxine

Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of an ice cream cone to prevent ice cream drips.

Just suck the ice cream out of the bottom of the cone, for Pete's sake! You are probably lying on the couch with your feet up eating it, anyway!

To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.

Buy Hungry Jack mashed potato mix. Keeps in the pantry for up to a year.

When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead and there won't be any white mess on the outside of the cake.

Go to the bakery! they'll even decorate it for you!

If you accidentally over-salt a dish while it's still cooking, drop in a peeled potato and it will absorb the excess salt for an instant 'fix-me-up.'

If you over-salt a dish while you are cooking, that's too bad. Please recite with me the real woman's motto: 'I made it, you will eat it and I don't care how bad it tastes!'

Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.

Celery? Never heard of it!

Brush some beaten egg white over pie crust before baking to yield a beautiful glossy finish.

The Mrs. Smith frozen pie directions do not include brushing egg whites over the crust, so I don't.

Cure for headaches: take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.

Take a lime, mix it with tequila, chill and drink! All your pains go away!

Don't throw out all that leftover wine. Freeze into ice cubes for future use in casseroles and sauces.

Leftover wine??????????? HELLO!!!!!!!

Lastly, if you don't tell your friends about this, your belly button will unscrew and your butt will fall off. Really... it's true! Have I ever lied to you?

Thanks for the laughs Tubby!!!!!

~~~~Waving everyone.........Liz, Judy....put out those smokes right now!!
Have a good night all!!!
Victoria Harbour, ON
LOL "Tubby" always the highlight of my morning, opening this thread and getting my 'smile' well, sometimes a tear or 2 as well..
Liz/Judy both of you girls start you 'no smoking' day 1 again TODAY! Honestly, you both had it beat..come on, be brave...tell me please today will be DAY 1..
Only thing with having a sunshine day is seeing it through the windows that have not been cleaned yet..omg, know what's on my list of 'to do's'...going to have to look to see who has ladders on sale, much to high for this short little lady! Guess you all have yours done by now seeing as the weather co-operated weeks ago...you can have a sparkling clean house but unless those windows and zinc is sparkling everything else looks dirty...
Paul has appt. in the office this morning at 10:00 I am so hoping because they are calling for stormy day tomorrow and as it's sunshine today he might let us leave at 1:00 instead of 3:00..keep your fingers crossed...I'd say 'pray' but there are far more important things to pray for than me getting off at 1:00...
Trying to figure out where I want to spend my 'weekend' allowance on..new cushions for the wicker set, patio stones, flowers..the stand up weed puller, cement and 4x4 posts for the cafe birdhousehmmm give me something to think about this morning won't it??? challenge will be to see how many I can do with my weekend budget...
I didn't hear the telephone ring last night but saw there was a message on the recorder...Kyle wondering if I've had time to repair the trampoline netting/safety packing...have to call him and tell him it will be something I can do to pass a rainy Saturday...
No I did not Barb, was waiting till things settle for you, know it was emotional day for both you and Norm...so, thought when I catch you on-line I'll open it..it's in my car..see I do have patience..
Trisha...got my Birds and Bloom magazine last night, reading a story of Choclate Flower Farm, 40 minutes north of Seatlle...in Langley Washington, is this nearby..
If I may quote....it's a garden filled with chocolate.
A chocolate garden can be as big or as little as you want it..you can create a garden that solely made up of choclaty-brown colored plants or use them as accents, weaving them into an existing plot to create dram
Som of the plants include top-selling chocolate cosmos, chocolate sunflowers,chocolate viola, chocolate pincusion and chocolate smoke nocotiana..
Visitors can see the plants up close and get ideas for using them..the chocolate-vanilla swirl bed is made up of chocolate plants with a ribbon of vanilla-hued plants throughout. It is beautiful and elegant despity using only two flower colors...
Neapolitan garden uses chocolate, vanilla and pink flowers to create a bed reminiscent of the ice-cream flavor...
think you can link up with it through
www.birdsandblooms.com and guess there is a listing..should have gone look for it before typing..off I go to check the link..be back shortly...
Tubby they also have chocolate tomatoes...they are brown--hued beauties, alternative to traditional red cherry tomatoes...
