Thought I'd move us over...
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/985054/
Laura, didn't forget to answer your post sweetie...here I am, starting fresh hoping that I and others can join us along with the chit/chat of the day to post what we did learn today, our best and worse....know I got off topic somewhat but in our own way guess we've been saying our Best/Worse and What did I learn today?
It was Jan that went missing - Tangiegirl..after many tries I did find her..she was undergoing difficulties in her life..think she needed time to herself..she continue though to be in my daily prayers...
As for everyone on the earlier threads not posting, many still do from time to time...it's like everything else, one says they don't post, so I won't, then the other says the same and soon they are MIA...
Must add Laura, that just like when we are at school and must move to a new school, we keep contact with our friends but get the opportunity to meet some of the loveliest people there are to meet...
give these girls and our Tubby a chance to get to know you, they'll come to love you as I do and also you'll cherish their friendship...such treasures...
One can never have too many friends now can they?????
I'll start along with my chit chat to comment on my day..
Best...my walk in the gardens..truly there must be a God!
Worse...this impending doom and gloom feeling I have...
What did I learn today! It's not as easy as one might think to pick ones self up by the boots and get on with life...something you just have to work at I guess...
And how about your day?

Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #104 visit with friends!
Thanks for the new room Betty!
Betty they're working it out. She's on DG now too! Boy did I create a monster there! LOL
Dave's very impatient so it's not good for long drives. He wants to leave Saturday morning between 4 and 5am, I just don't see the point in stressing ourselves out by driving 8 hours when we can leave Friday night and drive 4 hours, spend the night, then drive 4 more and take our time. I booked a hotel so I win! LOL
Betty, I am not going to the funeral home, for that exact reason. There are so many of my DD's friends and our teachers there, this is not the day nor the place for me to totally loose it. Shannon decided she was going to go. She called me after, thankfully it was so crowded she was out on the "porch" in an overflow area, so out of the center of the funeral home.
We have had several discussions on going to the funeral. Shannon said there was no way she could go. It was just not going to happen, so I respected her decision. When someone dies of cancer, Shannon is forced to face her own mortality and the "what ifs". So I let her do what she needs to do. She text-messaged me at 10:00 this morning....asking me to bring her dress clothes down to the school for her, she was going with her BFF Brittney.
Betty, Shannon has had 3 blood clots in her heart. One disolved, and two calcified. Because of her harsh chemotherapy treatment at age 3, she was on a chemo agent Adriamoycin (sp?) and although it does no damage to the heart at the time....when a young child starts to grow...it damages the muscles. And the muscle of its choice, is the heart. We found out about in April of 2005, at age 14, her heart was going thru this damage. She had developed Dilated Cardiomyopathy. So she goes yearly to make sure everything is Ok, there are no changes, and that her medications are at what they need to be. I am sure, when the doctor sees the bruise...she is not going to be very happy.
I just always get nervous at this appointment, because when we went, we thought she just had a respiratory infection or was developing asthma. We were told she was in congestive heart failure at that time. So it is scary what you will find out.
Also, this Friday is her "1st" prom of the season. Her BF Michael goes to a different school, so his prom is Friday. They are on their way to Buffalo to pick up his tux right now.
Here is a picture I took this morning. My lilacs are blooming!
Cant you just smell them?
Debbie
Debbie those smell sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good!
Crissy...we need a new program....smell a garden...here on DG! LOL
I second that motion!
LK
hiya
yes well thats true.... at least you and mary acknowledge me when i do get to post and i appreciate it.
some of us oldies lurking in the background getting lost amongst the chattter when we do post, miss the old days is all.
have a happy day
Hey Laura, how are things going after the fire? Is everything getting cleaned up? I think you are getting ready for your winter now? Hope you are feeling better!
Is your daughter still living with you?
Take care.
LK
Wonder, I am sorry if I have ignored you. I do not intend to do that....I have a horrible time focusing and remembering, and without being on the ADD meds any longer..it is worse.
I just adore all of you and would hate to hurt anyones feelings.....and I know my chatter is nothing more than babble. Sorry again.
Debbie
Here's something you might like, Betty. I hung a new show in my gallery today, and the theme is "Authentic Kentucky". This is a quilt a group of 4th graders made for the local Parks system, and it includes photos of the class as they participated in a Civil War reenactment the park department sponsored for kids. The photos of course were transferred to fabric.
It reminded me of your lap quilts. Thought Barb and LK might enjoy seeing it too, as well as any others who quilt. It is very well done and it's my understanding the kids did all the needlework, and the teacher only transferred the photos onto fabric.
Laura...I am an oldie, and it is really good to see you.
Hope all of you are well, and this dark cloud we seem to carry is soon lifted.
oh dont worry, im not hurt but thankyou for thinking of me....
sharran u are indeed! hahahaha as am i.
Yep!!! I don't post often, but I do try to keep up with the threads.
How are the new baby and the new puppy, Wonder?
~~~~~~~Waving Laura.... and everyone! How are the little ones doing??
Have spent the day going through Antiques Shops again with Sis and Mom.....so tired and we still have a program to attend at Sages school tonight....may try and grab a quick nap first.
Cold and pouring rain today.......
Girls ended up leaving early, all finished their projects..think when they saw just how slow I'm moving they decided to forgo line dancing so it will be early to bed for me...
Posted my best/worse and what did I learn today much to early..some of you know my brother Bernie has been going through terrible times, well, this morning on my way to work (I pass his home) I saw his 2 tryke motorcycles out on the front roadside with a for sale sign on them..today I tried to call a few times, no answer so tonight I decided I'd stop in...you could tell he was down, told me he was coming tomorrow to finish a few of the projects I wanted done...when I asked about the house fire insurance settlement he said his lawyer called today and said that the main insurance company won't settle even though they talked about each taking 1/3rd of the blame, i.e. the insurance agent who filled the forms, the insurance company and Bernie take 1/3 of the blame..but now the insurance company says that it's up to the insurance agents coverage to pay...just know if it is not settled shortly he'll lose his home..so that should have been the worse of today...
Debbie, I'm sure you'll be able to offer some support to the family once the funeral is over...even after all this time I still get panic attacks when I have to go...my best girlfriend Barb died several years ago and there was no way I could attend...let's hope the appointment with doctor goes well..Shannon is much stronge rnow..just have to keep a close eye on her...so young to have these health issues...
We'll be waiting for new tomorrow on Norm and then on Shannon, sending prayers...
OMG sure wish we did have a 'scratch and sniff'..lol..think my favorites are lilac's and lily of the valley..do they still sell 'lily of the valley' perfume..remember when we were younger, it was the cheapest perfume on the market...lordy I did smell nice..lol
Trisha are you searching for any particular antique, furniture??? They have about a 1/2 block 3 storey building in Barrie with antiques..been years since I've visited..almost afraid to do so..you never know what I might come home with that I don't need..
OMG it's beautiful Shar..you are all so lucky to still have these types of program within your school system..they've all but dropped these courses, I say all but, most never had them to start with...I'd love to see other photo's of projects being displayed for the Authentic Kentucky..Shar who picks the theme, do you have a working group that meet to do it-am sure YOU are the group..your interest in art is the driving force behind the art shown..how lucky they are to have you ... I read the story this afternoon, it has to be the best yet...I've ideas on how I'd like to see it end....
Debbie, no one has offended sweetie, nope, we're all gabbers and you have no idea how you make my day..it's funny, many of us have never met but I think of you as family..met you though Debbie..you are only around the corner from me, well not quite..waiting for the day you jump into that vehicle of yours and come and spend a weekend...I'll even let you smell my flowers...
Prom on Friday night, how exciting is that...did you all attend a 'prom', I'd love to hear your stories...didn't get to mine, was in the hospital near death, kidney's didn't want to function...so no memories....
Crissy, what is her DG name...yep, does get addictive...invite her over to join us is you would like...good for you Crissy..makes the trip more enjoyable..like you say with a stay 1/2 way you can relax and not fret..always leaving room should you have a bit of delay on your way there...got batteries for your camera...a must..need to see photo's...did I tell you I saw your wedding photo on a thread, ok, so I was lurking..omg it was beautiful..the scenery, you and DH...so in love, looking adorable...you must post here as well...
Laura, please tell us how your job is going, did you boss get the promotion and no longer there...it's the start of winter for you, what temp. are you now at? how's puppy training, all under control...dh, how is he doing, he changed positions recently didn't he? Did you get to wear your new top? Bet everyone thought you looked sexy....
Well, with all the postings I've got to get to bed so I can spend extra time with evening prayers...
Know I am including all of your needs...
Can't wait for morning, oh lordy, don't want the entire 26 million, 1 would do, that way we I could get a large motorhome and we could take a trip together..you know me, part of my job was organizing events/trips...what fun I'd have picking you all up..
Tubby, now what would your Shirley say when we arrive at your door? your harem of ladies......would she let you join us..be careful what you say, it will be in writting and if I win ... oh/oh...
night/night all...
Mary, did try to stay up late to get to gab with you but I'm nodding off...
Hello To All;
Last weeks of school are SO busy! Debbie - You probably are going through the same thing....Can't believe your prom is SO much later than ours! When is your last day of school? Please send Prom Pics! Debbie - I love reading your 'chatter'...we are going through similar times (HIgh School) together! :)
Laura - love hearing from you! You don't visit us often....I find it so interesting ...here some months ago it was so hot there cold here...now that's swapped...we have your 90 degree weather. Send new Puppy Pics if you can! They grow so fast...
Sharran - Love the quilt - what a neat idea and good experience for the kids. My sister's famiy does the whole Civil war reenactment. They came through one time and we went to Port Hudson - a bit north of here and she dressed up the girls....they still talk about what a great experience and I know they enjoyed folks wanting to take pic's with them.....
So for last Christmas I did what I never really did before...visited Antique shops...ended up getting sister an authentic parasol, and BIL some ammo something that I wasn't even sure of....
Trisha - that's the only time I've really antique - shopped but I enjoyed it....so What are you shopping for?
Betty - Please don't stay up late for me....you need your rest since you usually put 2 days into one anyway. :) I always know you are there reading even if it's hours later...you are always so caring and make sure to engage us all!
I'd love to send a pic of the back yard...it's not at it's "peak" yet...still waiting on more canna blooms, etc....but had gorgeous hibiscus today...we are in the "Sunny morning, Hot midday, Afternoon Thunderstorm" mode...so I swear to you the whole backyard is different everytime I go back there!
So I'll try to get a new pic...probably Friday.
Tomorrow I have a long work day, get home at 5:30p then up to WHS Awards ....DD1 is winning an award - probably drama.
The news today - she tried out for the High School "Talented" (Drama) Program and made it...and with 100%....flying colors (why do they say that?)....So next year she'll get special drama instruction.....
Thoughts & Prayers to Betty and Bernie, Crissy, Anjl, Debbie and Sharran......and to all others. I read all posts but only made notes on this page...
Tubby - you doing okay?
Hugs to All,
Mary
Mary, your not going to believe this...but this prom is "early" by standards up here. Her BF goes to Barker School, so this is their Prom. Shannons Prom is June 8th I think.
My kids last day of actual school is June 15...then they have a heavy week of Regents exam testing and final exams. And Graduation, which is Shannon this year, is June 26th! When I was growing up in FL, we were out of school early May! They always start school back up the first Wednesday after Labor Day also...so this is late. They say all these schedules is for the farmers (from way back when) and they never changed it.
Well, I have to get up early and going to be a long day emotionally for me. I just hate walking back into that hospital. So many memories. We are supposed to be getting storms tomorrow also....ugh.
Sweet dreams everyone. Saying prayers for those needing them, and hoping everyone has a better day tomorrow.
Here are some more flowers for you! I was going thru next town over and saw this....so pretty!
Debbie
Hello To All! Hey Debbie!
I need to edit my T & P were for Debbie and Shannon....I had Sharran on the brain since I had typed that previously.....
I'll try to change ....
That's crazy late...our final exams are next week....last day of school is May 21st.
Debbie - I am "from Florida" as well....where are you from?
They had moved FL into May but it's now pushed back into June....Due to Disney as my sister says. Their last day of school is June 3rd (in Ft Walton Beach, FL).
This will help us in 2 years when we'll have 2 graduations, my DD1 and Sister's DS. Somehow the lateness is due to Disney wanting the High School labor force according to my sister...
BUT - still not as late as yours!
School starts back for us August 7th.....well - that's too much to even consider at this point!
Please send Prom Pics.......Our prom seems so long ago.....
I'll check in tomorrow...long day...Hugs to All,
Mary
Quick check in......and Prayers for all....
Antiques.....nothing in particular....we just like to look.....if I won the lotto would buy the Swan Town Inn a large,beautiful old Victorian here in town and refurnish it from all the Antique Shops. I love old furniture, the older the better and I adore old dishes, green depression glass...a very eclectic collection....I find way too many things I like....luckily no space and no money keeps me from bringing it all home!
Sage had a music program at school tonight...it was good, Bill and I went, Laura and Sages dad were there.....and we invited her mother and Grandmother...it is the first time they have been to one of her school events....there was a restraining order in place the past few years....but the mother has improved enough that we did not renew it this year. Things went well so we may be able to invite her to future school programs.
Oh how pretty, was she a little ladybug, Trisha?
Adorable, slept in this am, weather is playing havoc with my heat...fighting a headache so will move slowly..I'll get to gab when I'm at work...
Debbie and Barb, I'll be praying for both Shannon and Norm...
Look at that sweetie pie...adorable...
Pouring down rain here so it's a fight to get Sailor out for her daily constitution, best I go try bribbing her with meat, cookie and the works..
Thank you Betty and Debbie, I'll be thinking of Shannon today and praying everything is fine for her. Sarran that quilt is wonderful. Memories that will always be..... They really did do a great job on it.
Betty, I'm praying for Bernie. He has had so much to go through. Please keep us posted on how he is doing and if there is anything at all we can do to help.
Must get ready to go....
Sharron the quilt is so pretty. So much work in that.
Sage is such an adorable little girl, and the lady bug look so cute. I am glad she was able to have a family audience there.
Mary, I was born in Bradenton/Manatee area, and later moved to Venice until age 14. Then was dragged kicking and screaming up here.
Betty, I am sure your headache has something to do with this weather. And it is about to "hit hard" here. We have warnings all over the TV, wind is picking up, and the sky is a funky color...everything has a yellow glow...and no sun in site.
DH took me out to breakfast, and he is now over at DD's praying to get "that floor" finished today. Should be interesting. Three rooms of hardwoods, and those two (DH & SIL) can barely walk. Knees are killing them and DH has a lean to his back now. He is talking about a chiropractor!
Here is a view of what they are up against. I will be back later.
Debbie
Betty, are you still planning on taking your Mom to Florida some time soon? I think you need a road trip to get you out of your mood! Wish you were coming to BJ's with us over Memorial Day. Wasn't too keen on the drive at first but now I am getting excited to meet our DG friends in person.
We will be going through St. Louis on our way to Texas and will be able to spend the evening and breakfast with my Dad. I haven't seen him since January and am looking forward to it. He is just as busy as always. Got himself on the radio when they changed his pacemaker at 101. Cardiologist said it was a first.
Stacey said something about an interview on Monday for a job so I am wishing the best for her and know you are too.
Waht a wonderfu quilt the kids did. They really did a good job and it is something they can remember with pride. May even have encouraged some would be quilters.
.
Morning everyone. Hope you all slept well, and the storms did not get too close! Betty, you better take some of those migrain pills now before it gets too bad.
Check out this link, if you have any composite wood for decks, it is being recalled!
Never seems to get easier some days does it..
Bernie just called, needed someone to talk to, guess I'm it...
He spoke with the lawyer who has now booked another date, June 16th to meet with insurance provider and insurance agent...where they were so certain all would be settled by now it's NOT to be..he called to say he wouldn't be going to my house to do odds/ends I needed done because of no gas...imagine...so I'll drop in this aft. and give him some $$$...already paid for the work ahead of time but a few more things need done...first time he's admitted that he and Charlene are having major difficulties...guess not enough $$$ to go around..she works/all her money has to go for bills and she can't see the point of it...guess he's having difficulties with her 17 yr. old daughter as well...although he was joking about it, I know he's extremely depressed, just by his need to joke and make light of the situation...
It's dark sky and heavy rains right now, that always makes one feel blue..enough of this, what will happen will hapen and we'll have to figure a way of helping him..funny, Bernie and I are the givers in the family, Sharon and Mike who have the $$$ aren't..maybe that's why they have the money..lol
Debbie, spent many a winter in Bonita Springs, just north of Venice...still have many friends there...Bradenton, yep, manatee country..they have a sanctuary there for them...dropped in quite a lot to see them..
OMG my knees are just getting better now after doing Suzanne's bedroom and hallway..for me, it's more the wrists from clicking the boards together than the knees...but what a difference it will make, they'll be thrilled...
Janice, I am stillthinking of bringing her down, she's been having a series of tests, just had her eyes done so have to wait a bit..I can imagine how excited you are to travel and meet everyone...if it weren't for the day to get to you and from your house, I'd have gone...just soooo much driving..OMG what let's hope Stacey get's the position...in what line of work is she applying for??? Now if she got the position and had to start right away, would you still drive on your own or would you fly?
LindaKay,cancelled my dinner with Diane tonight and class..head hurting too much to attend....if it stops raining by the time I get home I've much to clean up in the yard...chairs blown around, things knocked over...quite the storm last night..
Going to read your post on the decking....
Good Day to all!
Waving to Wonderhug and all who read daily.
it's is always so nice to see you post Laura! I am glad things are going well and you sound very busy but in really good spirits.
Betty, Sweet Betty, I am so sorry to hear you have been feeling blue. I get that way sometimes too. You know it's a bit harder for you to try and reason why, maybe just take one new day at a time...Much has happened around you, maybe you need a bit a of a rest, lol...not in your vocabulary but slow down just a smidge. How is Noah been doing? I hope by now he has been healing from the fall and pole crash...
Just so you all know, I do read and try to keep up with everyone, sometimes i overwhelm myself with all the threads, I can't take notes all the time but each and every person i follow with in daily activities are in my prayers and thoughts...
This time of year has been overwhelmingly busy. With the end of the school fast approaching this machine has been quite busy. Julia's been doing a ton of research and writing. DH occupies much of the morning, "littleones" in between. By the time I get to sit and read, that's all I have gotten to do. It's a gorgeous day, but I thought man i miss you so I am writing my post, waving hello and will share some pictures...Breenie and I had a huge, rather intense discussion the other night, But I think we cleared some frustration and just made sure we were on the same page...LOL, the writing on the page was basically was the same, only in "our different" languages...Does that make sense? Well anyhow, it makes sense to me and Breenie so i guess that what important. She will be 16 this year, and is so looking forward to finding a part time job. Plus!! She has decided to take an art and phoptography class at the Columbia college in the summer. We are delighted. CC is only the best in the City for the arts, and she will earn college credits...
Jacob is is so excited to be graduating! I am thrilled he has finally gotten with the program and has been behaving as he should. It was a rough time for a while, but reality stuck and it down to business again...whew!
Julia, has been busy, as ihave said...She has since signed up for 2 classes in the summer and continues to work...I am very proud to say
My kids all seem to have a good head on their shoulders, but theyt do Need me!
Trisha, Sage is a beautiful little girl, wonderful ladybug skirt...So nice you invited her mom, I hope things continue to go in the right direction.
So i have a few pictures to share with you, and probably will chatter around each one...LOL, some people never change...meaning me and all my blab!
This pic is for Trisha...You asked to see my broken waterhose thingy. Um it missing the top piece, because I threw it away! It was a circular form with a frog head that had holes, was suppose to turn and spray...never did!
And her it is with the pots! LOL take note they are in a straight form, I wasn't to crazed on it being turvy, so just made it topsy!lol.
Alos notice the mess in the back, Betty, roll heavy laughter with hands on the hips here, got my work cut out for me, and Ihave taken quite advantage of my time out side.
Betty, I am sorry to heare of Bernies situation, I am though so glad he has you to talk and listen with.
Yep, we had storms all day yesterday here too, wasn't as bad as i thought, so I do hope the weather gets better for all.
And here is a little of that section...Remember i told you Breenie and I worked on it and since then I have tilled three more rows.
Which, By the way Tubby, Your new beds have been an inspiration to me in working mine. It is quite alot of work, but I am thrilled to be finally able to play with the earth, what a glorious smell! Soil, I mean, lol.
And here is the lil Laurel House, I have cleaned around it, was loaded with leaves and a ton of Lily of the valley and other "weeds" lol...was just time to clear it out. I also transplanted a baby Maple, thought every house should have a tree! And, in the tiny pots are what I was able to save of a bleeding heart. Each year It was trying to grow, beleive it or not, I got that from my first Round up in Madison a couple of years ago...so, I just keep hoping I can bring it to machurity...( i know that way off...lol) brain freeze for a second.
You certainly have been a busy girl, you are forgiven for not posting..lol..can't be creative outdoors and be inside playing on computer now can you...
As for your pots, can I help, put the largest of the pots straight down on the earth, then the 2nd will lay on the first and will all take the correct tipsy turvey shape they should be ..easier for planting...
Love Laurel house...cute village you are designing..what will you be planting in the new bed Judy?
OMG don't know how you are all doing dealing with teens..know I've been there, done that but so long ago I've forgotten about the ups/downs of motherhood and teens...maybe difference is I had boys...
your family do have it together Judy, just perhaps not the together you always hope for, but by light of day, all turns out ok and you are proud of them..
Steve still working the long hours?
Almost noon here, looking outside the office window, can't imagine how these tall trees can bend to such a degree in the wind...
This weekend I'll enlarge the beds, must get ready for the Church plant sale on the 30th..
We really should have a 'walk through my gardens with me' here, as each have their gardens in bloom it would be lovely to see..
vicki how are you doing? How many hours do they have you at now? your gardens should be flowering as well...need photo's of the rock gardens...
Bev, did you finish the washroom? bet it's lovely...
Love the photo's Judy...nice to be close to your children..can see the sprarkle in your eyes...
Cute photo...JUDY, hands on hip there..ok, beer is ok...but what is in that other hand?????
Thank You Betty!
In that area, after I have cleaned the rest...I will be putting up an outdoor Gardenhouse...Meaning it will be enclosed with chinlink fensing...
I have been dreaming this dreamn for going on 11 years, lol and as in every year I am determined this will be the year it goes up! Inside is to be a vegtable garden...Haven't grown food for many many years, I do miss it very much.
And you know, I look and plan...So we shall see if my night visions come in reality.
By the way again, See my little abor vitae bushes? Those were from the front, that were eaten by the deer. These are the tips, and after having them in a bucket of water for all this time, i decided to pull a Shar and plain stick them in the ground as is, big smile, so far they are still alive, hopefully sprouting some roots...Thought of you the hole time my plan came into action Shar.
Such a wonderful Quilt the children made and a great learning for years to come.
Ok and so here is me doing a little happy dance with things starting to look good.
ROFLOL, don't mind my "frumpiness" It was cold and icky and I kept adding clothes...
hahah, wasn't expecting my picture being taken...
I can see Judy girl, you are not answering me about what is in your right hand...drats..going to give you a shake...
Want to share what Bev Scott sent me....
http://www.greatdanepromilitary.com/Life/index.htm
Hey Judy, looks like you are keeping yourself busy in the yard! And having fun while doing it.
Betty, that website is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Hope your headache is getting better?
