Something different and easy.^_^
I don't like rhubarb, but it looks yummy anyway. You could make me like rhubarb!!
Can anyone join here? I need to put the feet up & have a cup of Joe. We don't have a thread like this in MidAtlantic, which is probably why our threads are so chatty.
Of course! welcome! Especially if you're North East of anywhere - every one is North East of SOMEWHERE! Southwest Norristown, for instance. Please join in.
Im having an ice coffee while waiting for the Tart to come out. Carrie I'm not a big fan of rhubarb either but I LOVE strawberries!!!!!!!!
An ice coffee sounds heavenly. Rhubarb is OK, but if I had my choice, I'd choose peaches or blueberries.
Hi stormyla ^_^
Always welcome, storm. That's why we do this thread - for any old talk.
Hi Dahlianut. Thanks Victor. Victor I'm presuming that Virginia Bluebells are not growing in your area??
The Bluebells, though scarcer and scarcer are one of the great joys of Spring.
Buttoneer has a great photo of a wild stand on 4-29 in this thread.

That tart looks YUMMY!!! I love BOTH rhubarb and strawberries. This is my first year with a rhubarb plant and for some reason it just doesn't look like it's thriving. I remember my folks plants seemed huge. If I cut the stalks, will more grow?
Glad to have ya, Stormy!
OK, you guys made me grab a brownie.
No, I have not seen them around here, storm. Too bad!
Theres a hugh stand of them just down the road in Valley Forge National Park. It's only quarter mile from here. That's where I first encountered them at about 7 or 8 years old. Thought I'd entered an enchanted fairy land. I try to still go and visit them every year.
rhubarb and strawberry anything is wonderfully yummy.
The Virgina bluebells are so luvly. Too dry here for them sigh.
Dahlianut, I didn't even realize you were from Calgary. Thought you were an eastern Canadian!
I'm an alumni stormyla. Grew up in the Toronto area.
ooo, I've not been to Toronto, but have been to Calgary several times.
Just realized next weekend is Memorial Day weekend!! Holy #%!*&! I am so far behind!
Me too Victor!
I just realized that I have failed to tell you why I hesitate to go outside and why I am so far behind.
First I personally have limited time outside due to the care of my son. DH thank goodness loves the tree's, flowers, ect..as much as I do.
2ndly .....since April 30th or so, I have had a well driller out side my door. On rainy days he would stop sometimes but this was cold rain and I had no care to plant in it. On sunny days he pounds from 8 am to 6 pm. At approx. 4 pm on those days, I have a headache. Today I stayed inside most of the day. No headache.^_^ Thats why I felt like trying a new recipe.
Got 3 more roses planted...only one more to go!!
Congrats, Pixie---I guess you've forgiven Brian for the PI, since you're baking---can't tell my DH---he gets jealous about dessert! I'm beat tonight---too much babysitting & planting roses---don't think I'll make it to 10:00 to watch the Mets. The dogs awoke me at 4:30 this morn----good thing---our power had gone out for 2 hours, the clock was blinking, & I needed to reset my alarm for 6:30---when I was teaching, I was always up around 6---just real lazy now.
Pixie - congrats to you and Brian! Shouldn't you just tack on the years you were together and call it an even 23!!?? When I was reading about your well digger, it took me back to last summer when they were logging outside our house and excavating the inside all at the same time. Ugh. I know that kind of headache! Hope it's finished SOON!
I goofed and posted the pics of the lady slippers and trilium on the garden blooms thread. Don't look if you've already seen them. I'm tired tonight. LOL
Aaahhhhhhhh! Lady Slippers! ^_^
Donniebrook, I have to ask, are those native or do you have a source to buy them?
love the lady slippers
There is a wildflower nursery that I've seen sell them...but I'll have to put my thinking cap on--I think it might be here in CT.
As long as noone plants more PI. Memorial Day driving makes me nervous especially as we have an iris show to judge.
Very nice, Louise.
We have to drive to CT on the Fri night of Mem. Day wkd - not really by choice - and back on Sat. DH is making a speech. (He makes them to me 24-7. This is to a group that actually asked for it, lol.) But it's kind of like we get Mem. day traffic two ways with no going away for the weekend part in the middle.
Thanks Louise! I love Lady Slippers!
UGH on the CT. traffic Carrie! I have to deal with the commuter traffic several times a week--will never understand why traffic stops dead on the highway for no reason at all. It can go from 65 mph to zip in a heartbeat, then right back up to 65! (or you can just sit for several minutes!) Where in CT are you going?
drumlin--
http://www.plantnative.org/nd_cotohi.htm Scroll down to CT. for nurseries.....

The one I was thinking one is in Ashford CT and temporarily closed d/t illness.
I'm ... ... ... not sure. Ask my husband. Usually he'd have to ask me, I guess it's fair that once or twice he has to ask me!
