Happy Mom's Day!
Let's continue the conversation here. Pretty day here today. Windy, but nice.
Coffee Break #11 - Moms rule!
LOL on poop patrol. It'll never happen here.
I had a very nice Mother's Day Eve surprise: had a bit of angst as a result of limited access to the plant files in my brain yesterday (mid-50's can be troublesome). Tried to come up with a white flowering perennial that would love the excess moisture here. Mosey on to dreamland to remember not to forget..... So, my son comes in at 11:30ish and turns the lights on with a wake-up gift (which are infinitely better than the wake-up problems) to present me a beautiful creamy white potted Chrysanthemum, (mums for my Mum).
I was stunned: I told him he had read the part of my mind that I had not been able to read. When I finished the explanation, his great big grin said it all: mom is certifiably out there!
Happy Mother's Day!
Though technically a small shrub, not a perennial, clethra Sixteen Candles would fit that bill, Kate.
Happy Mothers Day every one! Thanks for the card Victor!
DH took me to Fieldstone Gardens, a place not more than 7 miles from my house. I haven't been there since his mother died and he knew why, so he took me himself. It was very nice to go back to a place I had at one time considered 'The Garden of Eden'.
I took some pictures while I was there as I knew the Magnolia Tree's would be in bloom. I was right!
Muscari as we drove up....it's all along the rock wall the length of the driveway.
DH bought me another Magnolia while we were there. I now own "Yellow Bird" to go with my "Flamingo" and "Stella Acclaim". I'll be going back to get the coral colored one next...it wasn't in bloom yet. ^_^
We also bought oldest DD a yellow Magnolia too.
If all this wasn't already a great Mother's Day for me....my youngest DD got engaged today!!
Congrats on all counts! Loved the pics of your trip to Fieldstone Gardens!
Thanks Phoebe, I got a Orange Phlox too..... he spoiled me rotten. ^_^
OoooH!...You deserve it! From my perspective, you're an awesome mom!
Why, thank you very much!!!!
Hope everyone had a great day! Celeste, thanks for sharing your pics.
That cartoon was right on, Victor.
Great shots, Celeste. Love that blue and pink flower! What is it?
Loved everything! Pixie, what is the blue one he bought you? I like it too....
And congrats to your DD, do they have a date set?
LOL. Good plan.
Victor, They start out pink then turn to pure blue, "Mertensia Virginica" ~

He also bought me 2 new phlox....
"Jubilee" (orange) and I can find nothing about it with this name.
and ''Red Magic"(red)

Thanks Celeste. Might have to add that. Seems it acts like bleeding hearts - dies back in summer.
Very much so, goes completely dormant in summer. He told me to mark the palce or i'd never remember it was there! lol
I learn so much on these forums, but then I want too many things. BEAUTIFUL shots, it must have been very nice to go back there if you haven't gone for so long. And congrats on the engagement! What a day!
Thanks drumlin, I feel very lucky she choose such a nice man to date. It will be a pleasure having him join our family.
Carrie, no date yet for Tarsha but Tiffany got engaged on Christmas night and she has set a date for Sept. 25th 2010. I think Tarsha may pick August or Oct. to get married in but not sure what year. I doubt it will be more than a year or 2....she's been going out with this guy since she was 16-17 years old....she'll be 27 in July. ^_^
