Another beautiful scene
Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #102
Betty thank you for the pics..Flew in & out of D.C. in the dark .Stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune North Carolina
Betty, thanks for sharing the photos. Looks like you all had a really good time!
LK
Thanks for lettng me share some of your country...I certainly enjoyed each and every day...now to find where grandma and the boys will travel to on our next road trip!
Keep thinking of the roadtrip in one of the lampoon movies where they had grandma strapped, dead, on the roof of the car as not to spoil their vacation..lol ...omg, not my boys right..
Beautiful pictures! Thank you so much for sharing them with us!
Thanks Trisha, how is Laura doing and is Sage still spending time with you?
They are doing well, Laura's ankle is still giving her problems occasionally. Oh yes, Sage spends every Friday night with us and she and Laura come over in the afternoons sometimes.
Beautiful sunshine today....they say it may get up to 65! A little cooler tomorrow then back to the rain pattern again.
Betty Love the pics, thanks! Very educational and fun!
Partly cloudy today & 80 degrees, storms later this afternoon into tonight, then more storms over the weekend. It's been storming since Monday and we are floating.
Trisha she'd just at that age that not only is she visiting but she's company..did Laura actually get a diagnosis?
80 wow think it's 60 here and overcast, calling for same all weekend, still better than rain though..I'm anxious to get out and start some weeding..Cathy did all the raking but a lot of work needs to be done in the gardens...
Sage and Laura were here Tuesday night for my son's birthday....it was so much fun watching them work with together on the Cat Ball Point Pen that Sage wanted to make for Uncle Shawn.....she is getting so much better with her clay projects and will spend hours making things.
I am so ready for 70-80 degree weather.....send it here!!
How nice that Sage is interested in clay...remember one of the young girls I knew much the same as Sage's age would do crafts with me over several years, got quite proficient with it..often she'd come over and we'd pick a project with a little more difficulty each time..she'd manage just fine..then, when she was in about grade 3 she did an unbelievable replica of an area church with rock/sticks/popcicle sticks..should have easily been an A++ but she got a B..teacher said she couldn't have possibly done it herself, which she had..she was very discouraged..
Bet Uncle Shawn was thrilled with his treasure...few drops of rain out there..almost time for Diane to drop by, we're going out for something to eat then off to Carol's for portrait class...feel more like napping but am sure once I get there I'll wake up..
Dying for nice weather as well..still it's only the 1st day of May tomorrow, expecting too much here for nicer weather than in the low 60's...
Hello All;
Betty - some of the pics brought tears to my eyes....it was hard for me to even talk sometimes around the memorials...too emotional....Lincoln is a powerful memorial.....it was dark as we entered Korea...and very eerie and 'lifelike' .....
Anjl - get well soon! We miss you !
Stacey - I'm tempted to get some dahlias...but reading about planting here...they say they don't do well here...but they are beautiful!
I have a daylily trying to open up today...It's still a little curled up....I wonder if I'll get a chance to see them fully open....DH doesn't care for them since they only bloom for a day...but they are so pretty!
The back yard changes now from morning to night....day to day.....I love this time of year!
Hugs to all,
Mary
Gorgeous! Most of our iris are done....
I've never seen spiderwort....perhaps it doesn't grow here as well?
Might not grow there, it needs shade for sure, and moisture. It only blooms here in the spring, but in the mountains of eastern KY, it will bloom much longer.
LOL oh Mary, I think if you look along the road ways you might see it. It grows wild in the south and is everywhere! Imagine my surprise when I saw you could pay for it last year!!! Mostly growing in Clumps and bluish purple although there are other colors.
Got home a while ago. It sure was a long day. His Dr said the pictures looked good and that we would get a full report from the radiologist soon. It's been a really tough year on him and I'm so proud of the way he has maintained his sense of humor and positive thinking. We've been very fortunate with wonderful supportive family and friends who truly love and care for us. Without them it would have been He-- And special thanks to all of you. You have given ME purpose and distraction when I needed it most. Have a great evening everyone. Barb
Thank you Sharran - those are so beautiful. There's nothing like a flower to lift the spirit is there?? They can manage to say so much....
Marion - I do see purple on the side of the highways....but never gotten close enough to get a good look.... :)
Hey Marion - you may be further from Wewa than I realize...but if not....is there something to do around there? Like...I think they had caverns or something to tour....
I want to visit dad for a day or two....but we've grown apart somewhat and he is a good man...but really shy....so I'd like to find something for us to do....
Sharran - pretty flowers! I think I have a pic or two I took yesterday.....I'll see....
Goodness Mary, now I need to look where Wewa is not again. Short of coming into Tally I don't know of anything. The caverns I think are in or at Marianna. How embarrassing--need to check the area I live in now.
It has been really quiet....
Good morning everyone. Coffee's on with juice and bagels!! I wanted to thank all of you again for all your good wishes for my DH. Your prayers have helped so much. And now on to my topic or question for today. Sharran - tomorrow is Julep day and you have not shared your recipe with us. How can I even watch the Derby on TV without one???? I'll be waiting.......
Barb I'm so glad that the news was positive, am sure the rest of the results will be much the same...it does make life bearable knowing there is always a DGmember waiting at the keyboard with a prayer, a hug and support!
Spiderwort grows thrives here as well, I've several plants and more to come..Darlene says that exactly where the new woodworking shop is going there sits iris and spiderwort..lucky me..
How lucky you are to see all that beauty in the garden already, my turn is coming..torrential downpour last night and as I look out the window this morning all I see is green...I took a guess that by Mothers'Day which is only next Sunday that all the Oak trees /lilac trees and shrubs will have their leave open..
I haven't been for my garden walk yet this morning and am running short of time, late night with the portrait class so not as spry as I usually am in the mornings..
But it's Friday, calling for nice weather so I imagine most of my weekend will be spent outdoors...
Julep day? recipe...now what have I missed...
Marion, always fun to have company arrive because you go out looking for what's entertaining and tourist attractions that are right in your own back yard...you might soon be taking in the sites yourself...lol
Shar the purple columbine is outstanding...
Carol, what do you have opening in your garden..
I was looking out the front window awhile ago and some 2 or 3 frail plants with flowers on them, you wonder how anything so frail could survive the harsh winter and come out to say "I'm alive" before the stronger ones..much the same as with human isn't it..
Will have to tell you about Caleb's portrait sketch when I get to work...NOT good...lol..
Good morning,
Tubby, love the M&M guys...I could just eat them up! LOL Have you seen the commercial with the green M&M and she gets the other 3 so excited...shows them melting? LOL
Betty, can't wait to hear the story on Caleb. Never a dull moment with the boys, lol.
Betty, those pictures of your trip brought back sooooo many good memories and made me want a trip!
I used to live just outside of Arlington Virginia, I traveled into DC daily to work. I I went through that cemetary every day on the subway...but never actually visited. One regret I still have. Used to walk up to the Mall and have lunch on the lawn. Also, caught the subway home at Union Station every day....it is sooooo beautiful. It is magical at Christmas time...seems to glow moreso.
I loved the Cherry Blossom shots. I want to go back some day during Cherry Blossom season. Were they flying kites at the Washington Monument? (Some refer to the tall building as the "Bill Clinton Memorial") LOL
Shane brought home his agenda for his upcoming trip to DC, and they will be going to the Holocost museum also. I will tell you his agenda later, I have to get ready for a meeting...and time is getting away from me.
Debbie
MORNIING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Debbie, I just coughed up my coffee on the Bill Clinton/Washington Monument comment...naughty girl..(or am I a dirty old woman and I took it in the wrong context...lol)
Raining here, they had said beautiful weekend but think that's changing so will have to alter my plans to accommodate..maybe do some housework..next week I'm busy each and every night..doing a daisy 3-d piece on Mondays (3 weeks), portraits Thursday night (6 weeks) hair permed Tuesday night, teach painting Wednesday night sooo no time to clean but then the good news to that is no time to dirty..
Came home last night and Cathy had left me a bouquet of daffodiles with a note saying she hoped it would make me smile as I had a bad week..so nice of her, as well she left the lottery #'s for Wedn. night draw..nope, didn't win drats, we'd all have had mega fun with my winnings...
Oh about Caleb and his portrait, I thought I was going to class to simply 'tweek' and come home with finished project..nope, made a few mistakes so had to destry and starting over...imagine...3 hrs in class and already a day behind..says it's a learning curve..I've brought it in this morning so just might work on it...
What a class trip Debbie, going to Washington, he'll just love it..omg can't believe you were that close and didn't see what people come from all over the world to see...imagine that!
You know, I was there maybe 3 or 4 times before, did some sightseeing, really did a lot this trip with the boys but I could easily pack up and go again...
As for the Cherry Blossoms being in their prime and kite flying, well we were about 1 week too late..
Anyone have suggestions as to what might interest the boys and grandma for their next trip..must be within driving distance and not much more than 1 day..they all love golfing and have their own clubs..even though time in Myrtle Beach..
You are up and at it Stacey, what do you have planned for today and the weekend...weather co-operating in your neck of the woods?
