Moved us over from here....
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/979914/
Just did a walk in the gardens, sun is coming up, everything growing by the minute, can see the leaves opening in the trees, time for me to what Debbie says 'put my big girl panties on' and move on...
So thought I'd start a new thread, maybe this will be the day for 'good' news...let's see who also has some to share...

Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #102
thank you all...
OMG Tubby, aren't they the cutest..my question is how long did you keep them? guess you could have one as a pet if the scent bag was taken out...they are cute...
Say it isn't so, mosquitos already? Haven't noticed any as yet..do any of you have our 'black flies'? Now there's a bite..can't be outside without total coverage and even then they bite like the dickens...I'm just borderline area wise for them to live...
Walked over to the side property line where there is an apple blossom tree, it's in bud and I'll have to pick up some liquid ivory soap, make water/soap mixture and spray it before the tent caterpillars arrive..lucky to have any greenery once they show up...does help tremendously when you spray...
Good to see you up and cheery this morning. I finished my sewing yesterday and the package will be in the mail tomorrow. Today is DH's one year PET scan. It's an all day affair at the hospital but we are hoping for great results. My forsythia is blooming and the lilacs have leafed out. I even have buds on the quince and azalea. The vinca with its blue/purple flower, is a nice foil to the yellow - just wish it would spread more. The day lillies are really poking up and my giant hosta has started to sprout. I don't know the correct names but when they bloom, I'll try for pictures.
Have a great day and I'll pop in when I get home. Hugs, Barb
Good morning Betty & Everyone, sun is up and shining beautiful this morning.
I went out and my tulips are in full bloom. I am heading up to Rochester for an appointment and lunch with DH.
Have a good day, and Betty....we are entitled to run around without our "big girl pants" for a few days here and there. Sometimes...weeks! LOL
Sending hugs, hope everyone has a "splendiferous" day!
Debbie
morning all!
Betty,sure hope the rest of the week goes better for you....{{hugs}}
still no sleep for me last night :o( but at least I got a few cat naps yesterday.
I sure miss my gardens, my iris were just starting to bloom when I left...told DH yesterday that he better at least take some pictures for me if they bloom while im gone!
hung a bird feeder here last night, but birdies havent found it yet :o( going to go put a piece of toast on it...they are now trained to wait for my toast so maybe that will help them find the seed lol!
will try to get back online later, hope you all have a wonderful day!
AnjL
oooh! Thank you for the picture Stacey! I am going thru some major coffee and flowr withdrawls here! lol!
Beautiful Iris!
Barb now you've completed your sewing projects (could it be an apron..lol) you'll be able spend your days playing in the garden. Will be praying for DH today, let's hope results are an A+..my forsythia's (yellow flower shrub right?) are all in bloom, question, will they continue to have yellow flowers throughout the season or do they die off...
I love lilac's and yes, all in buds but they are old trees, did prune them last fall, and have planted about 4 more so that when they take over the others can be cut down..not much action in the smaller trees, guess it takes years for them to mature...
Noticed at Norm's garden yesterday afternoon that there wasn't a place to park, everyone out purchasing plants..might drop in tomorrow after work and pick up that Rose of Sharon...
Perfect day Debbie for lunch with DH...best enjoy today because I think they are calling for rain here and in your area for the weekend..
Building store called and left a message yesterday that the 7 doors I ordered are in, was hoping to find some sawhorses to lean them on and get them all painted this weekend..could do it in the craft room but now that it's so nice don't want to take the chance of dropping paint... so we'll see about that project...
Betty your week has been extremely bad, thank goodness it's almost over.
I've been on the prayer thread but haven't posted, I'm just not good at that sort of thing. I am praying.
LOL! Yea, skunks are ok as babies as long as their eyes aren't open yet.
OMG AnnMarie, won't they let you have coffee in the hospital? You'll soon be home into the lovely back gardens..but for now...it's look after AnnMarie..know you feel guilty for all that DH has to do but I'm sure he's ok with it..are you feeling any better with rest and meds?
Stacey, lovely flowers...what grows in these area's once the spring flowers are done?
Isn't it hard to believe that not more than a few months ago we had that white stuff on the ground and it's almost time, could do it this weekend, cut the grass!
Morning Crissy, yes, can only get better...don't like living with any kind of stress so picked myself up..maybe being 'cheery' will invite 'cheery'..can't hurt..are you counting the days to your trip? coming soon isn't it..
Betty-I don't have anything right now in place of the tulips-I would eventually like to have pots with Dahilas in each spot though....
I was so mad-I'd hurt my ankle and had to wait at the bottom at the entrance while everyone else went up....maybe next time I go I will get to walk around and see the tomb of the unknown soldier and stuff
Pentagon Memorial was an emotional stop..the boys did learn in school about 9/11 so seeing and hearing about history kept their attention
Copied a bit of the write up for this one....
The focus of the memorial is 184 cantilevered benches built over a pool of lighted water. Each bench is engraved on the end with the name of one of the 184 people who died on board Flight 77 or in the Pentagon that day.
The benches are arranged by age, with the bench of the youngest victim, 3-year-old Dana Falkenberg, in the far southeast corner and the bench honoring 71-year-old John Yamnicky in the northwest corner.
For Wendy Ploger, whose father and stepmother died aboard Flight 77, the benches add special meaning to the memorial.
"I don't know how to describe it, but it tells the story of what happened, which is sort of what helps me to heal," said Ploger, whose relatives were on their honeymoon when they died.
The benches for the 59 victims on board the plane are arranged so that someone reading the name on the end of the bench will face the sky where the plane came from. The 125 benches for the victims inside the Pentagon face the opposite direction, so someone reading the name will look up and see the south facade of the Pentagon, where the jet hit that day.
"The way the bench is facing, my father's bench, if you read his name on the end of it, you are facing the same direction that the plane was flying [from] as it impacted the Pentagon," said Ploger, whose parents were originally scheduled to take a different flight but changed their plans.
"At first I felt a little strange sitting on it. But then, it's comfort and it feels good and I feel like I'm close to my loved one," she said.
Some of the original plans have changed since construction started in June 2006. Originally, the benches were to be made of aluminum. But aluminum can oxidize, leaving pits and white residue. The builders chose to use marine-grade stainless steel, which won't rust and can withstand the elements.
The benches are inlaid with black and gold granite mined in Spain and cut in Canada. A perimeter wall around the park is built of the same Spanish granite.
Black granite was originally chosen for the top of a perimeter wall around the park, but builders learned the hard way that on warm and sunny days, the black granite gets so hot "it could burn your tuchis," one worker said.
Ploger and Laychak say they are not sure how others will respond to the memorial, but for them, it brings a sense of peace.

I don't plant things like dahlias in the ground-easier to put in pots and tote the pots in the garage after the first frost....
Your garage Stacey must be heated during the winter..they are annuals correct?
I was at work when Shirley found the baby skunks..DB was here..She hollered Ron Help...He came around shop & says What do you want Me to do..LOL You don't want to know..I had shot a sick one a few days before..It was out in the daylight.Kinda stumbled around and didn't even spray the dogs..Had a heck of a time calling them away from it..Didn't want them to get bit or scratched..Think she must have been the mommy
As for pets NO I have had to bath my dogs to often cuz of them..YUK
We did find that the cheapest mouth wash works pretty good. "after initial soap and water bath"
Barb fingers crossed with thumbs up for DH..Good luck Norm. And pose pretty for the cute nurses..Must have nice pics..T & P...
Betty that what Shirley said about the new stove."I don't want to get it dirty
so lets eat out" LOL Not Really..
Anjl have you given any thought to snaging on to Betty's Bourbon & Honey Sippy's.." Oh ya lights out" Maybe a diff. pillow. Like this one
Good luck at getting some Sleep Time
Oh Tubby isn't that what friends are all about, there to comfort each other..how are you feeling? don't you be overdoing outside like our AnnMarie...take care of yourself the rest can be done in bits and pieces..
Betty-it isn't heated, but it usually stays above or around freezing....
