Robindog that Mountain Laurel is amazing! I can't believe you got that through the mail! I've been wanting a Raspberry Glow for years but the only ones I have found are tinkerbell and the one that looks like peppermint. Do you have a link to where you got it?

That's a lovely story about the star magnolia. It is so beautiful! I think I may have seen one decorating the median near the CVS store yesterday as I was out doing the grocery shopping. I had never noticed it there before, but it sure caught my eye with all its blooms on!

I am of the opinion that our purple/blue/raspberry flower is a pulmonaria, possibly 'raspberry splash'. It grows nicely on the back hill on the part we haven't 'developed' yet. When we do clean that area for more gardens, we will just clear the weeds and brambles out around the pulmonaria. I love it on the hill!

Little Miss "M" is quite the outdoors gal! We knew that the weather was going to be absolutely perfect on Friday, so all week long the daycare kids and I planned for a 'tea party' on Friday afternoon. It turned out to be disgustingly decadent with home made fudge, frozen yogurt smoothies, and raspberry soda, but the kids all had so much fun! We even made some dress-up hats out of paper plates and colored tissue paper! They all looked adorable! Miss "M" actually kept her hat on her head all during the tea party! Miss Taelar showed us all how to correctly drink tea ... holding that pinky finger out! It was a riot, and I got so many photos. What made it special though, was that Anna was allowed to come home from work to be able to enjoy the tea party with her daughters. As her boss said, 'how many tea parties will you ever get to be a part of while they are growing up?'. I thought THAT was wonderful!!!

Thats a GREAT boss!!!!

Give that boss a 'pat on the back'. Please let the boss know that we all appreciated letting Anna attend the tea party. Tea parties are such fun!

Love the little chipmunk in the birdbath. He looks like a sculpture on the side.

Very nice, Allison. Love the woodpecker. Never saw one. And you're ahead of me with the columbines.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

And way ahead of me, as well. Ours are only about three inches tall so far.

I just HAVE to have one of those raspberry splash pulmonarias. They are so pretty!! Do the blooms last very long?

Candyce - I love your tea party story......especially happy that Anna could share the experience with you and the kids. Sounds like a gourmet gathering!!!

Allison - very cool shots of the red-headed. So many people confuse them with the downies and the red-bellied woodpeckers down here. We had one here this winter, but we had the red-bellies here every day. I just love them!

Yes - great shots, Shelly. Love the pulmonaria!

Almost got whiplash trying to get this shot. A bumblebee had been hovering outside my LR back window so I tried to catch it and 'freeze' the wings. Very difficult. I was manually focusing, using a high speed and whipping my head around!

Cant even imagine trying to get a pic like that Victor! In motion its hard. at least for me.

Awesome shot, Victor!!

Victor ~ a prize winner for sure! That's so amazing! Great patience.

Louise, I have a lot of that pulmonaria on the back hill. When you next come to visit, feel free to dig as much as you want. You ARE visiting soon, right?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, ladies. I did take a while and a number of shots. The shade made it tougher.

Here's another tranquil Boston shot.

Yes, Candyce - we will find a good time for a visit once I return and do my part of our "settling in" and I'd LOVE to bring my shovel with me and dig up one of your plumeria. How exciting!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh I bought those two columbines from lowes... almost ready to bloom... mine are only a few inches tall as well...

I see downy & red bellied WP Louise... I knew right away this one wasn't not one of them.. so my list of WP are those two the plieated and now the northern flicker... amazing I had no idea there were so many different kinds before I moved here... we don't get birds like that where my mom lives

Victor could you start a new thread? This is getting really long. Thanks....
