Wow.... soooo much going on today! that's great.

Karen.... love all of the pictures. You've been busy! Especially the backlit daffs, those are great.

Victor, it looks like you had a great hike. Very pretty anyways. the pic of the pool is really pretty. (well, they all are, but I really like that one)... I love the Katsura as well.

Bill, the Cornel rhody's look really happy. Nice pics of them. Oh yes, and as you know, the Acer Palmatum Pinkie-Red-One is also known as Acer Palmatum 'Chishio Improved!'

Love those pics Jo Ann! that cactus is very interesting!

Allison.... Yep, you got it, the annual is an Osterspermum 'Copper Purple'. I agree with you completely. I don't 'do' annuals in general, however, I've always been a softie for a pretty African Daisy!

Hi RC snigger- snigger.
I titled the file "where did the girls go?'
To whom ever asked way above in the thread, The answer is "I dont know if its a bloom or not" I thinh it is as none of the bunch grew arms.
Our conservatory is so-so. I've been to Longwood, so everything after is paled .
Our place is funded w/ public donations, some years there are beautiful areas of tulips. The beds were riddled with chipmunk holes and no tulips.Kinda pathetic.

nice shimmer on that one!

Thanks, I'm really taken with those little anemones. I'm thinking that I might ask the owners if they'll let me dig up a plant or two.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

last year I think I started my osteo seeds too late... grew up to be beautiful plants... not enough time to flower... think i saw one or two blooms... tried again this year though

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I planted anemones when we bought the house... they didn't come back the second year

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

That's too bad that yours didn't flower. all that work for nothing! If I could find seeds of copper purple though, I think that it would be well worth the effort! Are they easy to grow from seed?

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

sad about the anemones. Maybe it was one of the annual ones?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

they flowered one year.... and did not come back the next...

easy yes but make you start them real early

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

could have been annuals... I think they came as a bonus with another order ... not the end of the world

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

so true!
good to know about the osteos. I will have to look around for those seeds and hope that i dont kill them!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

last year I put them in some mixed containers... frost was coming and I had to bring the pots in... they barely had a chance to bloom... was pouting for sure... this year I did not pinch the seedlings in hopes that helps as well as starting them earlier

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

karen - you sure went "nuts" with the pic's - you have a lot going on there - looks great.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, everyone!

I love that shot of the magnolia blossom, Shelly.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

every year the same things happens as the weather get nicer and warmer and people get busy it get harder to come on here and post I know that next month I will be lucky to fince 5 minutes to myself to do anything as the work load increases

Port Washington, NY(Zone 7a)

I have Osteospermum 'Passion Mix' that I've started from seed this year. Good tip about not pinching. I was also trying to figure out whether I should pinch the Dahlias I started from seed and then I realized that they have fat buds on them already. They want to bloom now!

Karen, you had such lovely lighting when you took your pictures, really made for some warm, glowing shots. Very nice.

Shelly, do you know the name of those Anemones?

Victor, gorgeous foliage emerging on your astounding tree and shrub collection. It must be a wonder every time you step out your door.

This is Hyacinth 'Isabelle' which has interesting green buds...

My very first Hellebore bloom. I've been waiting two years to see what this one looked like.

It's beautiful! I'm still waiting for mine to bloom......maybe this year!

Port Washington, NY(Zone 7a)

Thank you. I'm so glad it survived. I had to transplant it to make way for the stone walls I had built and I was afraid it wouldn't have enough energy to bloom.
