Baton Rouge, LA

Wow - I'm so excited to see you folks on! Just got back....headed to check out to see if we got any good pics...

Mary, how was the play? How did the roses go over? I bet they were excited! Which night was better?

DH's Mom loved the cake....at least the kids did. We "ladies" in the family, were upset he didn't put flowers on it for her. But he did it with love, and that is all that matters.

Here are my two nephews helping Grandma blow out the candles.

Hello All!

Grandma looks quite happy with her cake! And has helpers with her to blow out candles since she's "Older than Dirt"....

I love the cake...might have to steal the idea for FIL's bday this year...I think he would love that!

The play was great...I think I did prefer last night but this night I got to see some things that I passed over the first time. Line did good with her part...her Norwegian accent was great since she portrayed a "nurse" from Transylvania...but Line is SUCH as sweet girl and the part played the night before took on a more sinister approach that added to the play as well.

But I love Line (Pronounced Lina)....I gave her flowers first and she hugged me....the only flowers she got....then gave Mary Kate hers, for some reason her parents did not come...and I know her parents...must have been a GOOD reason...so glad I brought hers....then brought Amber hers....LOVE Amber...she was so happy - but DS Brought her flowers as well - a $10 bouquet...apparently he was in the doghouse and she is a GOOD friend...

Then gave DD flowers and got a few pics with her.

We didn't get a lot of good pics because DH ran the battery down filming most of the play (and because Bio-Mom was dominating the scene)...but here is one.... it is DD, Line (Norway) and Mary Kate with their flowers.

I also bought a bigger bouquet for DD to give to the Drama Teacher...

DD's Bio-Mom was there....stressful for me...but I'm glad I didn't let it affect my enjoyment of the play.

DH said Bio-Mom (BM) gave DD a $100 bill and said...."we had an accident on the way here and didn't have time to stop & get flowers"......

This is the woman who has paid a lump sum total of $200 in child support in the SEVEN years DH & I have been married....

I feel good about tonight.....Sorry so much about me...I'll read back in a bit....

Hugs,
Mary

Those are three very beautiful young ladies!

Don't worry about bio mom....DD knows the truth. It is awesome the fun kids having doing the drama and plays. It really bonds the kids as well, and gives them such self esteeme....which is really lacking this day in age sometimes.

Once again, I am off to bed...LOL Still haven't made it that way!

Thanks Debbie! This DD1 I think is beginning to know... DD2 is another challenge...she had an attitude all night (BM does that to her)...and finally I just told her...well if you are just going to be in a bad mood....I don't need to talk to you.....because I am in a good mood. (She is having issues being loyal to BM....feels that she needs to be mean to DH & I)

I am glad they are all involved....somehow I am hoping it keeps them away from the Bad Stuff......

DD2 is in bed. DD1 and DS went to Olive Garden to celebrate the play.....DS is friends - quite close to MK & Amber, and others in the play....so we're waiting still for teens to come home...

Another late night! But these are all good kids so not as worried as other nights...

Hugs to all -

Goodnight Debbie!

Tubby, great stories tonight, glad you are still smiling.

I worked in the yard all day long, got a lot done, and tonight went to have dinner with friends, so it has been a good day, and a long day.

Mary, I have been keeping up with the play, and the flowers were the perfect gift. The picture is lovely, and I think DD#1 has it figured out, just don't let it get to you. Beautiful girls, and glad they are all friends with your son.

Betty, your flooring and window are going to be great, glad all that happened for you.

You all have a good evening. I have another full day tomorrow, and I will check in as I can.

Thank you Sharran! Hugs to you.....Going to bed now....

Morning, how exciting Mary..am sure DD realizes or shortly will that it's nothing to take money out of a wallet but to think about what would make her happy and go and purchase it, well more meaningful and done with love..what beautiful young ladies...omg you don't want to hear this, could just picture them in beautiful white gowns...won't be long you know..those girls will be zapped up by some young man madly in love...where does time go..

Shar you are as bad as I, up early morning and no stoping till late at night..hope you've rested well..

I'm up and looking around here, looks as though the glue did it's job..should be able to put the paint trays back on their wall hangers and wait for Mike and Darlene...

Did a little walk around outside in the dark just to get fresh air awhile ago..think the weatherman although right on with the temp will be wrong about possible rain tonight..you can just feel it in the air..

Debbie, tell hubby I enjoyed seeing the cake..keeping the design in mind also for mom's birthday...

Tuddy loved your posts as well...

Please read the whole thing,,, You'll love it.

I am reminded that "God Works in Mysterious Ways "

Tampons (A TRUE STORY)

Tampons to the rescue in Iraq !! Don't worry, it's a good story, and worth reading. It's even humorous in parts. It's from the mother of a Marine in Iraq .

My son told me how wonderful the care packages we had sent them from the ladies auxiliary were and wanted me to tell everyone thank you.

He said that one guy we'll call Marine X, got a female care package and everyone was giving him a hard time. My son said, 'Marine X got some really nice smelling lotion and everyone really likes it, so every time he goes to sleep they steal it from him.' I told my son I was really sorry about the mistake, and if he wanted I would send Marine X another package. He told me not to worry about Marine X because every time I send something to him, he shares it with Marine X.

He said when my husband and I sent the last care package, Marine X came over to his cot picked up the box, started fishing through it, and said, 'What'd we get this time?'

But my son said they had the most fun with Marine X's package. He said he wasn't sure who it was supposed to go to, but the panties were size 20, and he said one of the guys got on top of the Humvee and jumped off with the panties over his head and yelled, 'Look at me, I'm a n Airborne Ranger!!!!'

One of the guys attached the panties to an antenna and it blew in the wind like a windsock. He said it entertained them for quite awhile. Then of course.......they had those tampons. When he brought this up, my imagination just went running, but he continued.

My son said they had to go on a mission and Marine X wanted the Chap-Stick and lotion for the trip. He grabbed a bunch of the items from his care package and got in the Humvee. As luck would have it he grabbed the tampons too, and my son said everyone was teasing him about 'not forgetting his feminine hygiene products.'

He said things went well for a while, then the convoy was ambushed and a Marine was shot. He said the wound was pretty clean, but it was deep. He said they were administering first aid but couldn't get the bleeding to slow down, and someone said, 'Hey! Use Marine X's tampons!' My son said they put the tampon in the wound. At this point my son profoundly told Me, 'Mom, did you know that tampons expand?' ('Well....yeah!')

They successfully slowed the bleeding until the guy got better medical attention. When they went to check on him later, the surgeon told them, 'You guys saved his life. If you hadn't stopped that bleeding he would have bled to death.' My Son said, 'Mom, the tampons sent by the Marine Moms by mistake saved a Marine's life.'

0A
At this point I asked him, 'Well, what did you do with the rest of the tampons?'

He said, 'Oh, we divided them up and we all have them in our flak jackets, and I kept two for our first aid kit.'

I am absolutely amazed by the ingenuity of our Marines. I can't believe that something that started out as a mistake then turned into a joke, ended up saving someone's life. My sister said she doesn't believe in mistakes. She believes God had a plan all along. She believes that 'female care package' was sent to Marine X to save our Marine.

Either way, our efforts have boosted the morale of many Marines, provided much needed items for our troops, AND saved the life of a Marine! God bless every one of you for your efforts and hard work, and God bless our Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force and all our military service personnel.

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND KEEP IT SAFE!

Let us pray...

Prayer: 'Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us.Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.'

Prayer Request: , please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our troops around the world.

Of all the gifts you could give a Marine, Soldier, Sailor, Airman, & others deployed in harm's way, prayer is the very best one.

GOD BLESS YOU FOR PASSING IT ON
