Spring Glories Part 3

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

My Spanish Flags do have a purplish color on the twining stems when they are sprouting. I will save you some seeds of the Pink Flaked vines. :-)

Melbourne, FL

Thanks, Becky. I finally have my first Spanish Flag! Thanks, Debra.

gardenpom - You've got some lovely new ones! This one: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6549379 has the Kikyo shape of the flower, but the striping on it is quite different! Very pretty!

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

Outstanding (!)...Kikyo Blizzard...(!)

Melbourne, FL

I've only had one of those so far.

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

There's more 'hiding' where that one came from...keep a look out (!)...

That is one vine definitely worth tagging (!)...

Melbourne, FL

That's funny, because I was not very impressed by it, that's why I did not post it right away. I do prefer the simpler flowers myself.

Spanish Flags from Debra. I see a third coming up!

Beautiful flowers! I am drooling... We are having real winter weather and all but my "Gipsey Bride" and "Purple Feathered" has long since died...

Unbelievable rains here, won't be many glories blooming this week. Here are the Spanish Flags (from Debra).

Boy! You are kidding, gardenpom! How many more days are we supposed to get rain???

Your Spanish Flag looks great!

Melbourne, FL

Till Friday, I understand. I have had at least six inches the last two days.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

I have no idea how many inches we've had here in Sebastian, but it as been at least 5 or more. My yard is green once again! :-) Unfortunately, all my MG blooms are destroyed by the constant downpour. Small price to pay to have rain! :-)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I am so glad u got my rain I sent to you! I now have a dry basement again..
Lobata looking happy !

Melbourne, FL

I think the Lobata are happy they are still safely growing under lights and not out in the rain.

Melbourne, FL

Only a few blooms open today.

lovely blooms Helena, as usual, but this one:

is my favourite today :-)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

yes, it is so satiny isn't it? Ijust went out tonight to see what what was what and found 3 snails on one of my vines, so I havebeen snail hunting .. what do you do for snails and slugs and morning glories?

Melbourne, FL

I was just thinking after all the rain I should have tons of snails, but have not seen any lately. I wonder if rats eat snails? I have rats around here.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

gardenpom - No snails here either ... yet! I have a rats, too. They come because of the birdseed scattered on the ground from the birds...

Your MGs are doing awesome! Love your photos! You always have a cool perspective when photographing them. Very creative!

Snails!...now thats one critter i've got loads of Becky and gardenpom.... i could be a buddist if it wasn't for snails....

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Colin - Do they attack your plants? At my mother's home, she has a brick planter on the side of her home. I have NEVER seen so many snails in my entire life as are in that one small planter. It looks like a snail breeding community! LOL! And nothing could grow in that planter! Gee, I wonder why?! LOL!

only the best ones Becky.... but i use a lot of copper barries made from reclaimed copper pipe.... flattened with a lump hammer...

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Colin - I have heard that about copper and snails. Great idea to use reclaimed copper piping!

Melbourne, FL

I'm not sure if this is the Blizzard Ron was so crazy about, but if it is, that one flower was probably a fluke. I have not had any more like that.

Very few Rebeccas coming now, that plant is just about done.
