Bonnie, you're certainly made of some stubborn stock!! You need to get yourself to a doctor... soon... please!! You might have to see a neurologist.

I like boiled eggs dipped in soy sauce. My late ex' MIL would cook egg fricassee every Friday.. being Catholics. Now that was sumthin' good.

Kel just called.. a regular customer who drove through Ga.. picked up a box of Popeye's Fried Chicken for us!! Yippee.. they're waaaaaaay better than that imitation Bojangles we have here.

Donna, sounds like everything is going well….so happy for you.

Hi everyone…been out to Michaels and JoAnn’s with mom….need to find things to keep her occupied..

BJ I am so jealous of your flowers….will be a bit yet before we have anything to cut.

Synda I love that one!!!

Twyla so sorry about your pain, hope they find some way to get you some relief.

Add Cathy to the missing list, wonder how her surgery went??

Marilyn, good looking bunch of kids!!

Oh Synda (((((HUGS))))) it sounds like you and I are floating in the same boat in so many ways!! No we are not lazy…but try and explain to any of them why we can’t get things done….I know about the begging for help part too….been begging for three years now with no luck……There are times, especially now without my meds, that I just want to give up.

Oh Jaye, have a piece of Popeyes for me please!!!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Hey Sissies, Thanks for the warm welcome and belated B-day wishes. Jaye, you were right, this is one great group of caring gals. Ya'll bear with me, it's gonna take a while to remember the in's and out's of everybody's lives and your many talents but I'll get there. I didn't add interests to my profile because I thought somebody reading them might think I was dowdy. But at this point who cares? I want all of you to get to know me better.

Going antiquing and yard sales rule! I collect antique French paperweights, old Blueish Green Mason jars, and primitive tools. I've been an avid knitter since I was 8. Just took up needle felting last year and am still in the learning curve. I paint, enjoy making glass mosaics projects, crafting with anything handy, and decorating our home inside and out. Since I was a piano performance major a 100 years ago I also love any and all music, My CD collection ranges from Classical to Bluegrass, Jazz, most any instrumentals, and 1960-1980's Rock & Roll.

BJ, loved your beautiful bouquet.

Marilyn, your G-babes are beautiful.

Deborah, We have a half-moon shape on the side of the garage leading to the straight stretch and a curvy kidney-shape at the road. I mentioned to Ronnie my DH that I didn't think we even needed edging. He's the master weed whacker anyway who never leaves a blade of grass out of place.

Guess it's a guy thing to wanna build something. He's in the process of restoring 6 Early Broncho's Ford only made from 1966-1977. Every now and them he needs me to hold a wrench or bleed the brakes. Now that's exercise. And did I mention I don't need my clicker anymore since I lost my parking space in our almost new 2-car garage currently housing his automotive tools and 2 nearly 40 year-old's! LOL

If anybody remembers the writer's name that managed to keep his edging pure without plastic or rocks or concrete or landscape timbers (ugh), paleeze let me know.

And Sydna, if you're up in the middle of the night I might just be on here. My normal sleep for the past 9 years has maybe been 4 good hours at a time, in no particular order of time. Could be 5 pm to 9 pm, could be 10 pm to 2 am, could be 3 am to 7 am. You get the idea. Been that way since I was 42 and the big M hit. Somebody should take MEN outta that word, since they don't have anything to do with it. PAUSE would be perfect by itself --- pause the sleep, pause the metabolism, pause the mood, pause the energy, pause the memory. There's probably another pause...but I forget! So I guess my weird sleep patterns make me a sort-of insomniac.

Oh, my 13 year old Pug, Peanut, is a rescue. He's deaf and almost blind but in no pain. Mickey my Yorkie was my DH's Christmas present in 2005. He weighs a whopping 5 pounds. This is a photo I took of him on his third birthday 06-November-2008. Spoiled rotten and he's a motorhead constantly at my DH's heels in the shop. We affectionately call him The Beast. I've had dogs all my life. He's by far the smartest and smallest dog I've ever owned and am convinced he understands every word.

It's still in the 70's. Such a gorgeous day for us, I was sooo tempted to plant more flowers today but know our last freeze date isn't til May 10th. Gotta go since it's time to fire up the grill for cheeseburgers.

See everybody later, who knows I may be back at 4 am?!

Very nice pictures! Thanks for sharing those.

I took the day off and I am so glad I did! It was gorgeous today, I mowed and got my right hip all in a huge muscle cramp ggrrrrr and Dave made part of a cement barrier in the front yard where it slopes:

Afternoon everyone! We just got back from the Dr, and Dad told him he does not want a pacemaker! So now we just take it one day at a time, and enjoy it to the fullest. He made sure he had the do not resusitate(sp) in his folder.
I think Dad and I will order a pizza. it will be here in about an hour, so if anyone wants some pizza, come on over. Bring your own drink.
Synda, sorry your going through the backward days and nights, but if you fight the urge to sleep during the day, you will eventually get your body turned around. What are you taking for sleeping pills at bedtime? I was on ambien for awhile, but after a few weeks, your body gets used to them, and then it takes more and more to work, so my Dr, finally took me off of them. That was the hardest thing to do, but after about 4 nights of no sleep, I finally made it! Maybe alternate the sleeping pill from the Dr, with something like tylenol PM or advil PM?
Good luck, I know it is a hrad thing to go through.

Deborah- Could that guy that gardens so beautifully and writes stories be PaulFromAL ??

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Synda... short of disowning your own family... I don't have an answer to your dilemma. I've been dealing with the family put-downs my whole life. I just chalk it up to small minds.
I do hope you get some rest tonight... I'm sure you've been dealing with all this long enough to know what doesn't work... but I hope you find something that does work soon.

Bonnie - SEE A DOCTOR !!!

So, Jaye... was it good?

Stacey... we're getting worried about you staying in that funk too long... better check in here and let someone know you're still kickin'.

We had quite a storm today... Had to go out this evening and uncover the garden from all the leaves and limbs that fell down on it. I found 2 limbs that fell straight into the ground, 1 of them was stuck about 3" into the ground... sheesh... everything seemed to come through alright though.

Thanks... those flowers I cut were from my Ranunculus and Daisies. They bloom early anyway.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Linda Kay I've tried just about everything .I took Ambien for about a week, still woke up and did weird things, scared me to death.....LOL.Any of the PM's make wired.I have read a lot on Fibro and that is one of the problems is sleep,we never get to that stage 4.And stage 4 is the one that heals the body of the damage to the muscles done through the awake hours.even everyday normal movement tears muscles and they are repaired during sleep. They have found that is it is partially a brain problem and the signals get confused.I guess kinda like if you'd put your spark plug wires on your car wrong.Usually what I take will at least give me 4 or 5 hours sleep. But there can be contributing factors to throw things out of sink, over doing it,stress ,the weather, you name it.The doctor has me on darvocet, for when there is too much pain, xanax for the stress and nerves,Cymbalta for depression and pain, lisinopril so my heart doesn't beat too hard, vitamin D3 ,because I had none in my body,I've been taking 2000 iu for a year and a half and I am at least registering at the bottom low side, vitamin B12 because I'm too low,Colostrum because my growth hormone is too low,I also take melatonin for sleep, and I am out right now and that and working outside yesterday could of flip me out of balance, and now the minerals, which have helped with some of the brain fog and energy.
I go through this every now and then, nothing I can't deal with. What I can't deal with is when people can't just accept me for me.Who should care when I sleep,I have no lttle kids I'm neglecting,I'm not missing work, because I can't work.
Sorry to go on and on,but it just p's me off that because I don't hard a visual defect that people can see,I shouldn't have a problem.
I can so understand where stacey might be,because it is a fight everyday to see the bright side of life.
For me it is not being a whole person physically but you are mentally. You still have the wants to get out there and be the person you used to be,but the body say sorry, you're done!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I just caught up a little, good grief Synda. I'm glad you're feeling better. I gotta tell ya, my mom's side of the family are all a bunch of suit happy idiots, my dad's side are all drug attics so I don't talk to any of them. I talk to my mom and dad and that's it. My mom's half sister gave me an ulcer when I was 26 and I just told myself after long debate of trying to get her and her family to like me, which they absolutely hate and despise me, that no one or no family is worth my health and I let them go. My half-aunt, who was 62 at the time, wiped snot on my dishes and called me a b*%^$#, I don't need family like that. They don't accept me for me and I don't care, I don't want them to. My dad's family likes me but I can't do that either.
You just have to somehow find your self-esteem and say, "Look at what you're missing here!" I know, easier said than done!

Hugs are always good too!

Bonnie if you get dizzy again please go to the dr. Even if it's just a bug or allergies causing it, at least you, and we, know.

Good night all!

Gosh i have always had sleeping problems well not problem to me just can't get but few hours a night. the pain keeps me up.

Oh i love the ducks, like crissyr, so i feel like animals can't hurt you or break your heart unless i loose one.

Synda i can understand you completely, i always say i'm just me plain ole jane.Darvocet quit helping me for pain. I'm taking d-3 and calcium and dozen of meds. take thyroid med. than cancer med. and then 7 others till pm a few more.. dr. has me off anything now day 26 now but think have to some for my back & legs.

Nice top meet you all here. blessings.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Just popped in before heading to bed.....sorry you are having problems sleeping....seems like there must be something they could give you...can't imagine not having any pain meds at all.....will keep you in my prayers.

I had to pass along the most wonderful news!! They got Uncle Rex up in a wheel chair today and with his good arm he manged to propel himself down the hall for a distance...thank you all for your prayers they are being answered......a few days after his stroke they said he probably would not live through the weekend.....Rex has always been a talker....mother told her sis to tell him after all these years of not being able to get a word in edgewise that the good Lord wasn't ready for him and is giving the women folks a chance to get their two cents worth in.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Moring everyone! Coffee is on, with some freah sweet rolls.

Hope, I am so sorry to hear you are in such pain. You would think with so many problems you all are having there would be someting you could take. My Dr. told me one time, that he would not give me anything stronger than darvocet, because of all the stupid laws and stuff. If I get hooked on the pain meds, it would be his fault, and he could not afford the law suits!

Trisha thatis great news about your Uncle Rex!
When my Dad had his strokes, it was touch and go for several weeks. We will continue to send prayers for his recovery!

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning girls... I brought a bowl of fresh fruit to go with LK's sweet rolls and coffee.

It's so sad to hear that my sistahs are hurting... My prayer today is for the Lord to lay his hands on each of you to ease your pain... bless you all.

Hope... My mom was on about 9 different meds once.... 1 for pain, and 8 to handle all the side effects they caused... she also took several different vitamins to counteract what some of those meds caused her body to not process properly. At some point, my mom went to a different doctor. He took her off of everything she was taking for a month. It was grueling, and painful for her, but she got through it. Then, he started her on another pain med, and one all purpose vitamin. He also put her on a diet that was rich in certain nutrients that handled the side effects. AND that is all she took for many years until she got so sick in the end. I guess it took a month to flush the meds from her body, so she could start all over again. And she felt so much better for doing that.

The last 5 months she lived, she was taking a lot of things.

Well... I need more coffee...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning BJ, don't work too hard in the yard today!
It is drizzling here, so not much done outside today. I have the two grandson's this week-end. So I will be busy, trying to keep them out of trouble!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, LK... we're suppose to get a repeat of yesterday here... rain and more rain... had a thunderstorm just pass, and another on the radar coming right at us... and more behind that one. I don't think I'll be going outside today.

Raleigh, NC

all this nummy food, and I'm still taking pills.....by the time Im' done with them, it's time for me to go to my ENCIS (eastern NC iris society) meeting down at Crabtree Valley.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning all! It's gonna be another chilly day today. Poor Coloradians, facing snow and here I am complaining of no warmth...

Thanks for the coffee LK.. I'm a coffee fiend. No caffeine--no actions!
Think I'll have some of that fresh fruits to go with my Popeye's treat later for lunch, BJ. We ended up having Indian last night, ate veges simmered in hot curry and for meat protein, Butter Chicken, a Bengali dish.

BJ, I sometimes wish I could stop taking all the meds, and flush out my system :( Maybe the next visit, I'll ask him, but I know what he'll say. If only there is a holistic practitioner around here or even a Chinese Herbalist. I know I will dependant on insulin, but there should be an alternative to taking prescribed statins and such...

Yep, pain can cripple us. Like Synda said, if people see us looking normal, then we should be able to do normal activities!

LK, my doctor would only prescribe Darvocet for my back. I try not to take it too often, but at least I get some relief unlike Twyla.
As for sleep, somehow taking the minerals set me right on a good sleeping schedule.

Crissy, I hope it's sunshine where you're at. Will you be planning an early anniversary celebration?

That's a blessing Trisha! You're just saying how you need help, and here's help! Your kindness wheel has certainly return back to you ;)
PTL for your uncle Rex. Will continue to keep him in our prayers.

Bonnie, please don't be stubborn. If the spins continue, go to the emergency room, it got to be something serious. Bring an umbrella to the meeting.. it's calling for some showers here :(

Tina, nice to see you gal!! Yes, I do think it's Paul, and he has a website too right? He's so humorous in his writings too.. besides having a gorgeous garden.

Susan thank you for telling us a bit of yourself. Pretty soon, you'll know all our quirks and wonder why you accepted the invitation!! But the good part of this group here, is... they accept you for what you are, won't try to change your character and if you're okay with it, might try to beautify your yard!!!

Cody, you and Rob certainly will be serenaded by a Quacky Band!!! Wait till Alex start befreinding them! I bet Mocha's puzzled over those new feathered critters!
Oooh Duck Confit.. Canard a l'orange.. Crispy Duck.. Roast Duck... Duck and Pineapple glaze.. how many ways can I cook duck...

Darn, can you use a heating pad for your back, Twyla? Sometimes that gives me relief.

Kel was saying last night how he'd be 'staying' home today to fix the lawn mower. He just call and says.. "Saturday Shopping" continues!
Guess that's his way of relieving stress. Funny part is.. it's me that do the shopping.. he just enjoys the food break!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

This is an email that I received and it is so true. And I do remember the days:

Someone asked the other day, 'What was your favorite fast food when you were
growing up?'

'We didn't have fast food when I was growing up,' I informed him.

'All the food was slow.'

'C'mon, seriously. Where did you eat?'

'It was a place called 'at home,'' I explained.. ! 'Mom
cooked every day and when Dad got home from work, we sat down together at the
dining room table, and if I didn't like what she put on my plate I was
allowed to sit there until I did like it.'

By this time, the kid was laughing so hard I was afraid he was going to suffer
serious internal damage, so I didn't tell him the part about how I had to
have permission to leave the table.

But here are some other things I would have told him about my childhood if I
figured his system could have handled it :

Some parents NEVER:
owned their own house,
wore Levis ,
set foot on a golf course,
traveled out of the country
or had a credit card.

In their later years they had something called a revolving charge card. The
card was good only at Sears Roebuck. Or maybe it was Sears & Roebuck.
Either way, there is no Roebuck anymore. Maybe he died.

My parents never drove me to soccer practice. This was mostly because we never
had heard of soccer. I had a bicycle that weighed probably 50 pounds, and only
had one speed, (slow).

We didn't have a television in our house until I was 5. It was, of course,
black and white, and the station went off the air at midnight, after playing the
national anthem and a poem about God; it came back on the air at about 6 a.m.
and there was usually a locally produced news and farm show on, featuring local
people..

I was 13 before I tasted my first pizza, it was called 'pizza pie.'
When I bit into it, I burned the roof of my mouth and the cheese slid off, swung
down, plastered itself against my chin and burned that, too. It's still the
best pizza I ever had.

We didn't have a car until I was 4. It was an old black Dodge.

I never had a telephone in my room. The only phone in the house was in the
living room and it was on a party line. Before you could dial, you had to
listen and make sure some people you didn't know weren't already using
the line.

Pizzas were not delivered to our home. But milk was.

All newspapers were delivered by boys and all boys delivered newspapers --my
brother delivered a newspaper, six days a week. It cost 7 cents a paper, of
which he got to keep 2 cents. He had to get up at 6AM every morning.. On
Saturday, he had to collect the 42 cents from his customers. His favorite
customers were the one s who gave him 50 cents and told him to keep the change.
His least favorite customers were the ones who seemed to never be home on
collection day.

Movie stars kissed with their mouths shut. At least, they did in the movies.
There were no movie ratings because all movies were responsibly produced for
everyone to enjoy viewing, without profanity or violence or most anything
offensive.

If you grew up in a generation before there was fast food, you may want to
share some of these memories with your children or grandchildren. Just
don't blame me if they bust a gut laughing.

Growing up isn't what it used to be, is it?

MEMORIES from a friend :

My Dad is cleaning out my grandmother's house (she died in December) and he
brought me an old Royal Crown Cola bottle. In the bottle top was a stopper with
a bunch of holes in it. I knew immediately what it was, but my daughter had no
idea. She thought they had tried to make it a salt shaker or something. I knew
it as the bottle that sat on the end of the ironing board to 'sprinkle'
clothes with because we didn't have steam irons. Man, I am old.

How many of these do you remember?
Head lights dimmer switches on the floor.
Ignition switches on the dashboard.
Heaters mounted on the inside of the fire wall.
Real ice boxes.
Pant leg clips for bicycles without chain guards.
Soldering irons you heat on a gas burner.
Using hand signals for cars without turn signals.&nbs p;

Older Than Dirt Quiz :
Count all the ones that you remember - not the ones you were told about.
Ratings at the bottom.

ThanksLK,Trisha and Twyla,we are going to raise them and sell the babies.

Jaye, they don't have feathers yet. They have some kind of fur on them right now.The baby loves the ducks.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Jaye we were going to, I guess. I don't know, Dave's so mentally not here, it's extremely annoying. He won't listen to anything I want to do. We went out last night and I found out that my friend and her husband lost his mother the Thursday before last, the same day Mena was hit with that tornado, apparently Dave knew and forgot to tell me. She knew he knew so she assumed I knew, so it's no wonder she seems to be mad at me, I must look like the biggest b in the world to her.

It got to be around 3am and I wanted to come home, he was drunk (after he told me he wasn't going to drink so he could drive and I could have fun) and didn't want to come home and put up a big fuss about it. There's a garden show at the Saline County Fairgrounds today, just 10 minutes from my house, I brought it up this morning and got half of the word "Saline" out 3 times, every time he interrupted me with "Whatever!" So he's being a big fat hyper turd, I don't know who made him all 'in charge.' Maybe I'll get a nice dinner tonight, if he can control his hyperness. He seems to have a huge ego problem at the moment.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, Crissy... I just hate it when my hubby gets that way... and, he does sometimes... but if I just give him his space for a while, he usually gets over it... and even gets to feeling guilty for the way he acted sometimes... then acts like he has to make it me somehow... so, I just let him.

Well... Don and I came to an agreement about something we've been at odds about for a while now.
A couple years ago, I wanted a tree to come down to clear a way to plant my veggie garden in one particular spot. Don said NO. So, then I picked another spot that had no trees, but enough sun to grow a few things. Don mulled it over too long, and I ended up filling part of another area with garden veggies this year. Well, it turns out that I think where I have it now might be the best place to have it anyway, because it's inside a fence, and the dogs can't get in there and tromp anything. So, now I have him agreeing to make it the permanent place for the garden, and he said he'd build me the bottomless boxes this fall to do the Square Foot Garden in raised beds. YIPPIE !!! So, next year, at least it'll be more organized.
PLUS... the other place (second sunny spot I picked for a garden) is just outside the fence, and I told him I'd like a BIG grape arbor there so we can grow our own grapes. He said, "you get the plants, I'll build the arbor".... DOUBLE YIPPIE !!!! OMG... I've always wanted a grape arbor.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi all mood is much better, had a talk with mom late last night and a good cry.Told myself today was going to be better before I fell a sleep.Slept from 3am until 12:45pm.Alittle sore and stiff but moving will help that, and the minerals,I have noticed.Beautiful again to day, going to try and get stuff outside done.

And Cindy I remember all of those things but maybe a couple..........LOL.

Cody I love baby ducks, they are so cute, the fur is called down.

Thank you all for just being you!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well, Dave got home from WalMart right when I sent my last post, he said they're having a horse thing as well as the plant show. There's this huge blob of yellow and orange on the radar coming right this way and it covers the whole area, and there's a lot of thunder going on outside so I guess I won't be going. Apparently Dave was joking around with me earlier lol oops.

I don't mind going out in the thunder and whatever, but not a huge blob of heavy rain that stretches all the way across half the state and it hasn't got here yet.

Well, I guess that makes me older than dirt, cause I remember all of them. 3 channels on the tv, no remote, and if the channel was changed, one of us kids, had to get up and turn it. No cable or sattelite, abc, nbc, and cbs!
BJ, that grape arbor will look nice! Hope you get it going soon!
